A Word Fitly Spoken By Shelley Quinn August 27th, 2026 “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.” Proverbs 25:11 God has given me a consistently positive attitude—a heart that overflows with thanksgiving. He taught me the power of life and death is in the tongue. I confess His Word over my life and speak it into the lives of others. I know His Word is living and powerful and will not return to Him void but will accomplish the purpose for which He sent it. I’m telling you this to establish that faith is an essential aspect of my being. A false teaching on faith caused me to walk away from God for a time in my twenties. My non-denominational church taught me to have faith “in faith.” In other words, if I could ratchet up enough faith, God was obliged to act. Hoping my mother would be healed of her bi-polar condition, I was convinced my faith would bring her healing. It didn’t. Disillusioned, I turned my back on God until He chased me down with His love. God must be the object of our faith. Trusting His unfailing love and His faithfulness is true biblical faith. Faith is not a denial of facts—it’s reliance upon God in the midst of troubling circumstances. Which brings me to my point. A “positivity” wave has rolled over some Christian circles. Their insistent demand on avoiding all negativity deeply troubles me because it is a toxic additive to biblical faith. Authentic expression of emotion is rejected, labeled as lack of faith, and met with positive platitudes. Personal feelings are invalidated with quick responses like, “It could be worse” or “Count your blessings,” bringing shame on those who are gripped by pain. Are we guilty of using God’s Word to silence others? Rather than intentional listening, do we gush out positivity with the pressure of a firehose? Like the calloused “comforters” of the patriarch Job, do our words hurt—rather than heal? Emotional distress is our shared human experience. It will not be denied! Try suppressing it, and it will rear its ugly head in sleeplessness, crying jags, anxiety, panic attacks, prolonged stress, and spiritual paralysis. Oh, may we be authentic communicators like Jesus! He wept with Martha over Lazarus’ death. He wept over Jerusalem. He told of His impending death and warned His followers of tribulations. May we freely express our laments as the saints of old recorded in Scripture. Granting ourselves permission to speak our discomfort can provide release and open the way for God’s healing. Just read the Psalms to see how honest laments led to an acknowledgment of our all-loving God and hope in His rescue. Scripture advises we “weep with those who weep” and be “swift to hear, slow to speak.” We owe it to others to listen with the intention of understanding their pain and offering compassion. Only then can we speak a word in due season—the right word at the right time. A word fitly spoken can shine God’s light into the darkness of the soul and restore hope.

*TODAY'S PROPHETIC DECLARATION - THURSDAY, 27TH AUGUST, 2026.* 🌟*ASK WISELY, SEEK GOD'S WILL*🌟 📖 Scripture: “And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me in a charger the head of John the Baptist.” — Mark 6:25 (KJV). 🔥*Reflection – Not Every Desire Should Become a Request* Mark 6:25 is part of the tragic account of Herod's birthday celebration, when Herodias' daughter made a request for the head of John the Baptist. Her request was driven by hatred and manipulation, and it ultimately contributed to a terrible injustice. This passage reminds us that desire without wisdom can lead to destruction. Not everything we want is good for us, and not every opportunity to ask for something should be taken. As God's children, we must learn to bring our desires before Him and ask: “Lord, is this truly Your will for me?” Our prayers should not simply be about getting everything we want. They should also be about allowing God to shape what we want. Today, ask God for wisdom before opportunity, discernment before decision, and God's will before personal desire. 🔊*Prophetic Declaration:* Today, I declare that God gives me wisdom to discern what is right, beneficial, and pleasing to Him. I shall not be controlled by impulsive desires or pressured into decisions that are contrary to God's will. I declare that before I make important requests, decisions, commitments, or promises, I shall seek God's wisdom and direction. Today, the Lord shall purify my desires. May He remove every ambition that would take me away from His purpose and replace it with desires that glorify His name. I declare that my words shall be guided by wisdom. I shall not use my words to destroy, manipulate, insult, discourage, or harm others. My mouth shall become an instrument of grace, truth, encouragement, and peace. I proclaim divine discernment over my family, ministry, work, business, studies, relationships, and destiny. May God help me recognize what is good, what is dangerous, what is timely, and what is not His will for me. I declare that I shall not allow anger, bitterness, envy, revenge, pride, or pressure to determine my actions. The Holy Spirit shall govern my heart and guide my decisions. Today, I receive grace to say “No” to opportunities that appear attractive but would compromise my values, character, or relationship with God. I declare that God shall give me the wisdom to recognize the difference between an open door and a tempting distraction. I will not pursue everything simply because it is available to me. I proclaim that my prayers shall increasingly align with God's purposes. Instead of demanding my own way, I will trust the Lord to give me what is truly best according to His wisdom. I declare that every decision I make today shall be guided by truth, wisdom, love, integrity, and prayer. May my life never become a source of harm to others through careless words or selfish desires. Instead, may I become a vessel through which God's goodness, compassion, and truth flow. I will ask wisely. I will speak carefully. I will choose prayerfully. I will act righteously. I will seek God's will above my own. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Lord, give me a discerning heart. Teach me to distinguish between what I want and what You desire for me. Purify my motives and desires. Remove from me every ambition, anger, bitterness, pride, envy, or selfish desire that can lead me away from Your purpose. Guard my mouth. Let my words bring life rather than destruction, encouragement rather than discouragement, and peace rather than conflict. Wednesday Encouragement — Keep Your Eyes Upon Christ Blessings, dear brothers and sisters in Christ. We have reached the midpoint of another week. On Monday, we reminded ourselves that after gathering to worship on the Lord’s Day, we were sent back into the world to live what we profess and faithfully serve our Lord Jesus Christ. Now, halfway through the week, perhaps the pressures of life have already begun to distract us. Responsibilities accumulate. Problems arise unexpectedly. News from around the world troubles our hearts. Financial concerns, family responsibilities, health concerns, and the countless demands of everyday life can slowly pull our attention away from the One upon whom our eyes must remain fixed. That is why today we need to remind ourselves again: Keep your eyes upon Christ. Peter walked upon the water while his attention remained upon Jesus. But when he looked at the wind and the waves surrounding him, fear replaced faith and he began to sink. How often do we do the same? We look at the storms instead of the Savior. We concentrate upon our problems rather than His promises. We become overwhelmed by circumstances while forgetting that the sovereign Lord who controls the wind and the waves is walking with us through the storm. “But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.” — Matthew 14:30 And immediately, Jesus reached out His hand. What a beautiful reminder for us today. When our strength begins to fail, we do not need complicated words. Sometimes the most powerful prayer is simply: “Lord, save me. Lord, strengthen me. Lord, guide me.” Whatever you are facing today, bring it before Him. Our sovereign God has not lost control of one single detail of our lives. And while we carry our own burdens, let us remain sensitive to those around us. Someone you encounter today may also be struggling silently. God may use your prayer, your encouragement, your compassion, or your testimony of Christ to strengthen them. So let us continue through the remainder of this week faithfully doing what God has called us to do. Do not watch the storm. Watch the Savior. Do not surrender to fear. Walk by faith. “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.” — Hebrews 12:2 May our Lord strengthen us, guide us, and keep our hearts firmly fixed upon Him as we continue serving together. DAY 3 MISSION WEEK SERVANT OF GOD ARENA, KENYA COME BACK HOME The prodigal son had drifted far from his father. He had wasted his inheritance and found himself in a place he never imagined he would be. Yet, when he came to his senses and returned to his father, he discovered something beautiful: his father was still waiting for him with open arms. His father did not reject him. He welcomed him, embraced him, restored him, and received him again as a son. There is nothing our God cannot do. He is full of compassion, rich in mercy, and ready to forgive. Do not allow the enemy to convince you that you have gone too far to be forgiven. Take that one step today—just as the prodigal son did. Come to your senses. Confess your sins. Repent and return to the Father. The prodigal son thought he could only return as a servant, but his father restored him to sonship. In the same way, God is not merely calling you back to serve Him; He is calling you back into relationship with Him. The Word says: “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” — Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22–23). When a Nation Rejects God Scripture Judges 19:30 (NKJV) And so it was that all who saw it said, No such deed has been done or seen from the day that the children of Israel came up from the land of Egypt until this day. Consider it, confer, and speak up! The Tragic Results of Spiritual Compromise Judges 19 is one of the darkest chapters in all of Scripture. It does not describe God's approval of human actions but exposes the devastating consequences of a nation that had turned away from Him. The chapter demonstrates what happens when people reject God's authority and choose to live according to their own desires. The account begins with a Levite seeking to reconcile with his concubine. As they traveled home, they refused to stay in a foreign city and instead chose an Israelite town, expecting safety among God's covenant people. Tragically, they found that the moral condition of Israel had become no different than the wicked nations around them. The men of Gibeah committed shocking acts of violence and depravity, revealing how far the nation had fallen. Sin that had once been unthinkable had become accepted. The chapter ends with the Levite sending pieces of the woman's body throughout Israel, shocking the nation and forcing the people to recognize the seriousness of their spiritual collapse. The final verse records the people's response: they acknowledged that nothing like this had ever happened since Israel came out of Egypt. They were called to consider what had happened, seek wisdom together, and respond. Judges 19 teaches that when God's truth is abandoned, moral confusion and spiritual darkness follow. A society cannot reject God's standards without experiencing painful consequences. Sin always destroys individuals, families, communities, and eventually entire nations. For believers today, this chapter is a solemn reminder to remain faithful to God's Word. We must never become comfortable with sin or allow culture to redefine what God has already declared to be true. Christ calls His people to be light in a dark world, living holy lives that reflect His righteousness and His compassion. While this chapter reveals the depth of human depravity, the rest of Scripture reveals God's answer. Jesus Christ came to rescue sinners, restore broken lives, and transform hearts through His grace. Where sin abounds, God's grace is greater for all who repent and trust in Him. Reflection Questions 1. Am I allowing God's Word to shape my values more than the culture around me? 2. Have I become comfortable with attitudes or behaviors that God calls sin? 3. How can I be a light for Christ in a world that desperately needs His truth? Prayer Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing both the seriousness of sin and the greatness of Your grace. Guard my heart from compromise and help me to stand firmly upon Your truth. Give me wisdom to recognize deception and courage to live according to Your Word. Use my life to reflect the love, holiness, and hope of Jesus Christ to those around me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
