Daily pearls from the shore🫧 In the Middle In the book of Luke 23:32-33, 39-43, during the last hours of crucifixion, two others, who were criminals, were led away to be put to death with him (Jesus). And when they came to the place that is called ‘The Skull’, there they crucified him, and the criminals, one on his right and one on his left. Luke 23: 39 –“One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him (Jesus). But the other rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And He (Jesus) said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Many of us find ourselves at such a turning point in our lives. We lose hope. We find ourselves in the darkness of choices and struggle with anxiety and depression. We take shelter in addictions and other destructive options. The weight of sin and the pain of shame and guilt make us bitter, and we tend to miss Jesus, who is exactly present in the middle of our pain and shame. He stands there for us, bearing the weight of our sins and taking up the cross for us. There comes the irony. If we choose to acknowledge the position that He has taken up for us, He promises forgiveness and eternity. Just like He did for the second thief. The second thief received the revelation that the innocent Jesus took the fall for his sins. He acknowledged himself as a sinner and pleaded with Jesus. He then and there received eternity. Or Sometimes our bitterness takes the shape of pride in us. We tend to be too prideful to acknowledge ourselves as sinners and miss out on the mercy that is available. Few of us are too veiled by our self-righteousness to have any need for mercy. Well, Jesus has done HIS part. You can be on the right side or the left. He is in the middle. He has made the way out of sin and into heaven. Are you willing to crossover? The choice is yours. ‎Entering the New Year With Divine Direction ‎ ‎Crossover night is a sacred moment—standing between what has ended and what is yet to begin. One year is closing its chapter, and another is about to open. The greatest need at this moment is not money, fame, or strength—but direction. ‎ ‎Many people enter a new year with excitement but without guidance. Activity without direction leads to frustration. Speed without direction leads to destruction. But when God gives direction, confusion gives way to clarity, fear gives way to confidence, and uncertainty gives way to peace. ‎ ‎As we step into 2026, our prayer must be: ‎“Lord, lead me. I refuse to walk blindly into the new year.” ‎ ‎A new year without divine direction is a journey into uncertainty, but a new year led by God guarantees purpose, progress, and protection. ‎ ‎I. WHY DIVINE DIRECTION IS NECESSARY ‎1. The Future Is Unknown to Man ‎Jeremiah 10:23 ‎ ‎“O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.” ‎ ‎No one knows what 2026 holds—economically, spiritually, or personally. Planning is good, but planning without God is risky. ‎ ‎2. Wrong Direction Leads to Regret ‎Proverbs 14:12 ‎ ‎“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” ‎ ‎What looks right is not always God’s will. Many tears in life come from steps taken without consulting God. ‎ ‎3. Divine Direction Preserves Destiny ‎Psalm 37:23 ‎“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD.” ‎ ‎When God orders your steps, He also orders your outcomes. ‎ ‎II. HOW GOD GIVES DIRECTION ‎1. Through His Word ‎ Psalm 119:105 ‎“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” ‎ ‎The Word gives clarity in dark seasons and prevents costly mistakes. ‎ ‎2. Through the Holy Spirit ‎ Isaiah 30:21 ‎“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it…” ‎ ‎God still speaks. Those who listen will not miss their way. ‎ ‎3. Through Prayer ‎James 1:5 ‎“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God…” ‎ ‎Prayer is not only asking for blessings—it is seeking direction. ‎ ‎4. Through God’s Peace ‎Colossians 3:15 ‎“Let the peace of God rule in your hearts…” ‎ ‎Where God leads, peace follows. Where confusion reigns, stop and seek Him again. ‎ ‎III. CONDITIONS FOR RECEIVING DIVINE DIRECTION ‎1. Total Trust in God ‎Proverbs 3:5–6 ‎“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart… and he shall direct thy paths.” ‎ ‎Partial trust blocks clear direction. ‎ ‎2. Willingness to Obey ‎Direction is useless without obedience. God does not guide rebels. ‎ ‎John 10:27p ‎“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” ‎ ‎3. Sensitivity to God ‎Distractions dull spiritual hearing. A sensitive heart hears God clearly. ‎ ‎IV.
