• Is Belief in the Divinity of Jesus a Belief in a Metaphysical Issue?
Certainly not, although we see in life people who studied the New Testament and believed in Christ. But within the human entity itself, we find the transformation that may begin with a change in behaviour but moves to what is more sublime than moral behaviour: union with Jesus. This is what we see in the books of leaders of the mystical life, East and West—from Anthony the Great in the East to Eckhart in the West.
They are a group of those who journeyed from the world of vast knowledge to the reality of personal experience of Him who is closer to us than the heartbeat—the Lord Himself, who shares our existence and came so that we may share in His being and His embodied divine life.

  • Death and Life in Adam and Christ
When the Apostle says: "As in Adam... so also in Christ," he is comparing death and life. The universality of death is met by the universality of life and resurrection in Christ. Even sinners attain resurrection with the saints, but not the resurrection of glory; rather, the resurrection of judgment.
It is impossible for us to compare death and life; for comparison is not valid. We lost life through sin, but the restoration of life must be greater than its loss. This very reason is what makes us believe in the divinity of the Lord Jesus Christ, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Founder of life, the "Author of life" (Acts 3:15), and the Giver of life to all beings according to the divine revelation: "In Him was life, and the life was the light of men" (John 1:4). Therefore, we must not compare darkness with light; for darkness is an absence (of the presence of light), while light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it (could not overcome it) (John 1:5).
