• Good morning, brethren.
    1. Morning devotion for today.

    MD.i. MORNING TEA
THE WORD FOR TODAY. MONDAY JULY 13, 2026.
    "WHEN YOU FALL"

'…Simon, satan has asked to have you, to sift you like wheat…’   Luke 22:31 TLB

OUT OF all Christ’s disciples, Peter was the one who believed that failure couldn’t happen to him. But it did, and in a big way. Jesus told him, ‘…satan has asked to have you, to sift you like wheat, but I have pleaded in prayer for you that your faith should not completely fail. So when you have repented and turned to Me again, strengthen and build up the faith of your brothers’ (vv. 31-32 TLB). Notice three important truths: 1) we are all capable of falling. Don’t believe the lie that says, ‘If you were really a Christian, you wouldn’t have failed like that.’ When God saves you, your spirit is immediately changed. But until your emotions, appetites and desires come under the control of Christ, you’ll always struggle in certain areas. This has nothing to do with your salvation and everything to do with becoming spiritually mature. 2) we must be willing to repent. The trouble with temptation is that it usually starts out as pleasure. You think you can handle it and when you become ensnared, you try to overcome it in your own strength. But it doesn’t work. The Bible says, ‘…God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble’ (James 4:6 NKJV). God’s grace isn’t for the arrogant. It’s only given to humble, repentant hearts. 3) once we are free, we stay free by helping others. God takes us out of a bad situation to place us in a good one; otherwise we’ll seek out our old connections. So the way to keep what we have is to give it to others.

    MD.ii. SUICIDE

"The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted: Don't harm yourself! We are all here!" - Acts 16:27-28

In these Bible verses Paul stops someone who was about to commit suicide. In the past, if a prisoner escaped, the guard was required to pay the penalty and receive the same punishment as the escaped prisoner. This jailer thought that all prisoners had escaped. However, Paul told him that they were all still there.

In earlier years when Christianity did not clarify this yet, it was thought that it was quite brave to commit suicide. People commit suicide due to loss of money or because of one-sided love, others commit suicide because they are angry, tired or not healthy.

    Euthanasia

There are many ongoing discussions about whether it is right or wrong to assist someone to end their life when life becomes unbearable. There are nice names for this, such as euthanasia or assisted suicide. It sounds nice, but it is self-murder.

Many people, also people in high positions in social life, justify this idea. This is how others are influenced to end their lives. Paul tried to stop the self-murderer because he said: Do not harm yourself! Suicide is about hurting yourself.

God says in His Word though: 'You shall not murder.' God entrusted you with life. He made you and me. He already knew you when you were in your mother's womb.

The human being has a built-in love for life; we want to live. This is in each person. God appointed you and I to watch over and protect life. It is betrayal if someone kills himself or is assisted to do so. That person kills that unique life God has entrusted to us.

    2. Morning Prayer for today.

    MP.i. Morning Prayer

The steps of a Goodness Osondu man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth [him with] his hand. ⏤ Psalm 37:23-24

The great people of the earth today are the people who pray. I do not mean those who talk about prayer; nor those who say they believe in prayer; nor yet those who can explain about prayer; but I mean those people who take time to pray. ⏤ S.D. Gordon

Our Father, please bless us this morning. Lay Your hand on each of us as we bow before You and give us a Father’s blessing. Then we can go out into the world without fear. Keep us from harm all day long. Don’t let us wander away from You. Hold our hands, leading us and keeping us from falling. You have the power to keep us from stumbling and to present us faultless in glory. We bring our weaknesses to You.

Bless us in whatever experiences this day brings. May this be a day of growth in grace for each of us. Help us to do our work well. Guide us in managing our home and taking care of our responsibilities. Let us not be stressed or overwhelmed by worries. Help us to simply do our best and leave the rest in Your hands. Help us in our jobs and work. May we be honest in all our dealings, truthful in our words and actions, and consistent in our behavior—so that everyone who sees us will see Jesus in us.

We want to make this day one of loving service to others in Your name. Fill us with Your Spirit, so that wherever we go, our faces may shine with the light of Your love. Help us to be like Jesus to those we meet. Fill us with Your love, peace, grace, and compassion—so that Your life is truly revealed in us. May our actions and words bring blessings to everyone we encounter today.

We remember our friends and ask You to bless them all. Receive us now into Your care, use us, bless us, and keep us, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.

  • Canada's Planned Expansion of MAiD to Include Mental Illness as Sole Condition: A Cause for Serious Concern
We are now one year away from the scheduled implementation date of March 17, 2027.
Canada's Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) program is set to expand eligibility to include individuals whose sole underlying medical condition is a mental illness.
MAiD was first legalized in 2016 for those whose natural death was reasonably foreseeable.
It was extended in 2021 to cover grievous and irremediable non-terminal conditions.
The planned change to allow mental illness as the sole qualifying condition has been delayed twice (most recently through Bill C-62 in 2024) to allow more time for preparation and review.
Despite these delays, the expansion remains on track unless new legislation intervenes.
Several issues continue to generate significant concern among medical professionals, disability advocates, mental health experts, and parliamentarians:
    • Rapid approval timelines. A 2024 review of Ontario cases showed that in a sample of 219 MAiD provisions from 2023, more than 200 occurred within 24 hours of final approval, and roughly 30 percent took place on the same day. Critics argue that such short intervals limit opportunities for reflection, reconsideration, or access to additional supports.
    • Risks of vulnerability and coercion. Certain documented cases have raised questions about the effectiveness of existing safeguards. One frequently cited instance involves an elderly woman who initially inquired about MAiD but later withdrew her request, citing religious beliefs and a preference for palliative care. Despite her clear change of mind, the process continued. Factors such as family caregiver burden were considered, hospice placement was denied, and MAiD was provided shortly after final assessments. Situations like this highlight the possibility that external pressures may override genuine patient autonomy.
    • Ongoing parliamentary review. The Special Joint Committee on MAiD, reconvened in early 2026, is actively examining system readiness for the expansion. Conservative members, including MP Andrew Lawton (who has publicly shared his own experience surviving a suicide attempt), stress the potential for recovery in mental health crises and call for greater caution. Private members' bills, including C-218 (to exclude mental illness as a sole basis for eligibility) and C-260 (to prohibit suggestion of MAiD by public officials), remain under consideration but face uncertain outcomes.
    • Broader context. MAiD now accounts for more than 5 percent of deaths in Canada according to recent annual reports. This growth has intensified debate about whether the framework adequately protects vulnerable groups, including those experiencing inadequate mental health care, housing challenges, or financial hardship.
Offering MAiD to individuals whose sole condition is mental illness raises profound ethical and clinical problems.
Mental illnesses such as severe depression, PTSD, or treatment-resistant disorders often involve fluctuating decision-making capacity, where despair can feel permanent but recovery remains possible—even after years of struggle.
Distinguishing a genuine, irremediable request from acute suicidality or transient crisis is extraordinarily difficult, as irremediability cannot reliably be predicted in psychiatric cases.
Many experts, including psychiatrists and the Canadian Mental Health Association, warn that this expansion risks conflating suicide prevention with state-provided death, potentially normalizing assisted suicide as a response to untreated or undertreated mental suffering.
Vulnerable populations—those facing poverty, isolation, discrimination, inadequate services, or systemic barriers—are disproportionately at risk of feeling coerced, explicitly or implicitly, into viewing death as their only escape from intolerable circumstances rather than a failure of support systems.
International experiences from Belgium and the Netherlands show marginalized groups over-represented in psychiatric euthanasia cases, underscoring concerns of systemic coercion.
In Canada, where social determinants like housing instability or financial strain already drive some MAiD requests under existing rules, extending eligibility solely on mental grounds could exacerbate these inequities and devalue lives amid resource shortages.
Ensuring that assisted dying does not become a substitute for effective treatment, robust support systems, or genuine hope for recovery remains a core priority.
True compassion requires strong mental health resources, thorough safeguards, and a clear commitment to preserving life wherever possible.

  • A Canadian woman who was scheduled for assisted suicide says she now has renewed hope after unexpected help came from radio host Glenn Beck.
Jolene Van Alstine, a 45-year-old from Saskatchewan, has spent nearly a decade battling a rare but treatable parathyroid disease that causes severe pain, nausea, and other debilitating symptoms.
The surgery she needs isn’t currently available in her province. Because of bureaucratic barriers in the healthcare system, she couldn’t get the referral required to see specialists outside the region.
At one point, instead of receiving treatment options, officials reportedly suggested Canada’s euthanasia program, known as MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying).
Exhausted from years of pain and unable to access surgery, Van Alstine eventually applied for assisted death and had a meeting scheduled with a provider.
After learning about her situation, Beck publicly offered to help pay for her treatment and even fund travel to the United States so she could receive care.
The attention surrounding her case has since led doctors in multiple locations to discuss treatment options, giving Van Alstine new hope and a path forward that focuses on healing instead of ending her life.
Her story has sparked debate online about healthcare access, assisted suicide laws, and how societies respond to people suffering fr

  • Euthanasia: A Method of Population Control

    https://followerofthewayforever.wordpress.com/2021/04/27/euthanasia-a-method-of-population-control/

Euthanasia has been advocated by its proponents to be a effective method of maintaining the quality of life for those who are dying. Here are the issues that I take with that stance:

    – Ending a person’s life abruptly does not maintain their quality of life

    – A person could be at death’s door and still make a full healthy recovery

    – The value of a person’s life should not be contingent upon their health, wealth, power in this world

We are not GOD and we should never try to be GOD. Yet, there are those who think that they should take it upon themselves to do so. Those who want to control mankind based upon what a survival of the fittest principles. This behavior comes from a place of fear, selfishness, and doubt in GOD.

Population Control is one of the most simple-minded, savage, and sociopathic practices to exist. This is the principal: If a person is imperfect, they don’t have the right to live nor procreate because they will be and/or create burdens for society. This means that many people groups will be viewed as a detriment to society including:

    – The Poor

    – The Physically Disabled

    – The Mentally Ill

    – The Severely Disabled

    – The Elderly

    – Unwanted Babies

    – Unwanted Children

The list can go on. There is no room for error, thus no room to grow and mature. No room to be human and become GOD’s best you.
