CONFIDENCE IN GOD
A WORD FROM THE WORD:
"And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him." 1 John 5:14 NLT.
For the believing child of God, it is contrary to faith in God to be self-confident. From the context of our anchor Scripture, John the beloved, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit pictures what should be the source of our confidence - 'ask for anything that pleases him.'
Your confidence is not shaken by unforeseen situations and circumstances if it is anchored in God rather than in yourself. No matter what happens, you should rely on God and walk in faith, trusting Him to bring His purpose for you to pass. Only God controls events in the real sense of the word, and so the idea that you can control what happens is utterly delusional.
When you lose your faith, it is a clear indication that your trust was misplaced. More often than not, we rely on our ability, strength, and planning rather than simply doing our best while relying on God's unlimited power, but those who keep their confidence in God, remain faithful and receive the reward God has promised.
You should endeavour to have your confidence in alignment to His character and desires as revealed in His word.
