Bring Him Your Everyday Lack In our lives, we face different kinds of lack financial needs, emotional strength, wisdom, peace, opportunities, or the strength we need to face each day. Sometimes, our need may seem so small that we wonder whether we should even bring it before God. But no need is too insignificant for our Heavenly Father. In 2 Kings 4:1–7, a widow was facing a desperate situation. All she had was a little oil. In her eyes, it was not enough. But when she brought what she had and obeyed the instructions given by the prophet, God multiplied that little oil until all the vessels were filled. Her miracle did not begin with what she lacked; it began with the little she had. What you have in your hands may seem small. But when you place it in God’s hands, He is able to make it more than enough. So, do not hide your everyday needs from God. Bring Him your lack, your weaknesses, your empty places, and even the questions that have no answers yet. TWENTY-SIX MIRACLES. A woman brought her child, who had twenty-six major diseases, to our meeting. I'll never forget this as long as I live. The boy was born blind, deaf and mute. Both arms were crippled and deformed. His elbows protruded up into his little tummy; his knees touched his elbows. Both legs were crippled and deformed; he had club feet. When he was born, his doctors said that boy would never live to see his first birthday, but they were wrong; he was approaching four years of age. Of course, his condition was breaking his mama's heart. She came to our meetings all week, and I got concerned about that boy. In those crusades, we had each person with a need fill out a prayer card, and as the Holy Spirit moved, we would pray for the needs God inspired us to pray for. And the Holy Spirit didn't seem to be moving us to pray for that little boy. The following Sunday, his mother came to me and said, "Brother Schambach, I'm down to my last twenty dollars. I've paid the hotel bill, but we've been eating in the restaurant, coming to three services a day and giving in every offering. All the money has run out. My baby has not been prayed for." She was very upset, and she was ready to give up and go home. I said, "Ma'am, I can't apologize for the moving of the Holy Ghost. I know you have to leave tonight, but if you come to the service and, once again, the Holy Spirit leads in another direction, and your son's prayer card is not drawn for prayer, I will personally take your baby to the man of God's trailer house and see that he lays hands on your baby. You will not leave disappointed." And I meant that from my heart. That night I came out, and I led the singing in that evening service. Then I introduced Brother A. A. Allen, and he came bouncing out on that platform and said, "Tonight we're going to receive an offering of faith." I had never heard him use that expression before, and I saw eyebrows lift all over the congregation. He went on, "Now, if you don't know what I mean when I say an 'offering of faith,' I mean for you to give God something you cannot afford to give. That's a good definition, isn't it? If you can afford it, there's no faith connected to it. So give Him something you can't afford to give." As soon as Brother Allen said that, I saw that boy's mother leap out into the aisle and come running. Three thousand people were watching her in that Birmingham Fairgrounds Arena as she threw something in that offering bucket. I never saw anybody in such a hurry to give, and, I confess, I was nosy. I came down off that platform to see what she had given. You know what I saw in that bucket? A twenty dollar bill. I knew that was all she had. She had told me that. She had driven from Knoxville, Tennessee, to the meeting in Birmingham, Alabama. She didn't know how she was going to get home or what she was going to use to feed herself and her baby on the way. I went behind that platform and wept. I prayed, "Lord, I've been trying to teach that woman faith all week. But now I'm asking You to give me faith like she's got!" I don't know whether I could have done what she did, and you don't know if you could do it. We will never know, unless we are in a similar situation. But Brother Allen went on and collected the offering and launched into his sermon. But about fifteen minutes into his message he stopped and said, "I'm being carried away in the Spirit." I said to myself, "Here we go again on another trip." This is how God used him: he said he could see what the Holy Spirit wanted to communicate to him like he was watching it on a television screen. He would describe it as he saw it. That night he said, "I'm being carried away to a huge white building. Oh, it's a hospital." Of course, I heard this kind of thing every night that I worked with Brother Allen so I was sitting there unmoved. Then he said, "I'm inside the hospital, and there's no doubt in my mind where I'm heading because I hear all these babies crying. It's a maternity ward. I see five doctors around a table. A little baby has been born. The baby was born with twelve, no, sixteen, no, twenty-six diseases." When he said that, I started getting chill bumps up and down my spine. I said, "Oh, my God, tonight's that baby's night!" Brother Allen continued, "Twenty-six diseases. The doctors said he'd never live to see his first birthday, but that's not so. That boy is approaching four. Now I see the mother packing a suitcase. They're going on a trip. Another lady's with her. The baby's in a bassinet. It's in the back seat of an old Ford. They're driving down the highway. I see the Alabama/Tennessee border. That automobile is driving in the parking lot. Lady, you're here tonight. Bring me that baby! God's going to give you twenty-six miracles." That woman came running again for the second time that night. She put the baby in Brother Allen's arms. I jumped up to stand beside him, and everybody in the audience—3,000 strong—was standing. Brother Allen must have wanted to be sure that the audience was agreeing in faith for the miracle because he said, "Everybody, close your eyes." But I thought, Not me, mister. I'm going to be scriptural on this one. I'm going to watch and pray. I've been waiting for this all week. That little boy's tongue had been hanging out of his mouth all week. The first thing I saw as Brother Allen prayed was that tongue snap back in the mouth like a rubber band. For the first time in four years, the little guy's tongue was in his mouth. I saw two little whirlpools in his eyes, just a milky color. You couldn't tell whether he had blue or brown or what color of eyes. But during the prayer, that whirlpool ceased, and I saw two brand new brown eyes! I knew God had opened his eyes, and if God opened the eyes, I knew He had unstopped the deaf ears. Then those little arms began to snap like pieces of wood; and for the first time, they stretched out. The legs cracked like wood popping. All of a sudden, I saw God form toes out of those club feet as easily as a child forms something with silly-putty. The crowd was watching by this time going wild! I've never seen any people shout and rejoice so much in all my life. I saw that baby placed on his feet, and he began to run for the first time in his life. He had never seen his mama before, never said a word, but he began running across the platform—and I was running right after him trying to catch him. He leaped into his mama's arms, and I heard him say his first word, "Mama." This miracle charged up the people of God so much that even more miracles began to happen there in Birmingham. We stayed for a week after that. People were bringing their handicapped friends and family members. There were about twelve or thirteen people in wheelchairs over against one wall on the left side of the platform, and about fifteen or so people who had been brought from the local hospital on stretchers on the right side of the platform. When everybody saw the power of God at work, all the handicapped people in wheelchairs stood up like a platoon of soldiers and walked out of there healed by the power of God, without hands ever being laid on them. Then 3,000 pairs of eyes, like they were being conducted by a conductor, looked in anticipation from the wheelchairs to the stretchers. The next thing you knew, everybody on the stretchers got up and walked out of there healed by the power of God! Six blind people in the audience came running down the aisle with their white canes and threw them on the platform. Their eyes had been opened! Hearing aids began to pile up, then canes and crutches. Everybody in the building was healed.It was an incredible time of miracles, and the power of God fell, starting with the twenty-six miracles for that one little boy. The following Saturday after his healing, I received a special delivery letter from his mother. She knew that I had a soft spot in my heart for her little son, so she wrote me. She said, "Brother Schambach, I took the baby to the hospital Monday morning, and the doctors won't give him back. They have kept him all week. They have called in every doctor from all over the country who has had anything to do with the case. They have pronounced my baby cured of twenty-six major diseases." Of course, we went on to get the copies of the affidavits from the doctors certifying that boy's life was a genuine miracle. But there was a P.S. in that dear lady's letter, and a P.S. always means there's something more to the story. Her letter continued, "You remember that last Sunday when I told you all I had was twenty dollars? God knows that was the truth. But when that man of God said to give something you can't afford, I leaped into the aisle. The moment I hit that aisle, for the first time in my life, I heard the devil talk. The devil told me, 'You can't give that; that's not yours. Fifteen dollars of that goes to the doctor. Five dollars is for gas to get home.' The faster I ran, the faster he talked. But as soon as I turned loose of that money, he stopped talking. Ain't no use talking now. It's gone! It's been put in the bucket now. "Brother Schambach, all you saw was those twenty-six miracles, but there is one you don't know anything about. After you were gone, people were staying there. They wanted to see the baby and see what God had done. People shook hands with me. When one lady shook my hands, I felt a folded piece of paper between our palms. I opened it up and saw it was a twenty dollar bill. As I shook hands with the people who had lined up, every one of them had a folded paper in their hand. I went into the ladies room and counted $235! "Isn't that just like God? He not only gave me twenty-six miracles for my baby, but He allowed me to stay in a hotel for a week, pay my bills, eat three meals a day in restaurants, give in three offerings every day, and still go home with more money than I came with!" You can't beat God giving, no matter how much you try. Hallelujah! I believe with all my heart, as a result of what I saw, that the miracle had its origin in that gift of faith. Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta Mother Teresa was born in August 1910 to Albanian parents. At the age of 18 years she joined the Sisters of Loreto Abbey in Dublin. Her original name was Gonxha Bojaxhiu. She chose the name Teresa when she was at Darjeeling, India. She left the Loreto convent to serve the poorest of the poor in the slums of Calcutta. In 1952 she started a home for the dying and the destitute. She established a religious community called the Missionaries of Charity. Apart from giving food and shelter, she gave dignity to the poor and suffering. She did service for more than four decades and she was an "icon of the Good Samaritan". She was awarded the Nobel Price for peace in the year 1979. Mother Teresa died on September 5, 1997. Mother Teresa died exactly after 100 years of the death of St. Teresa of Lisiex and also in the same month of September (St. Teresa of Lisiex died on September 30, 1897). She was respected as the "Saint of the Gutters" even during her life time. One Monica Besra, a tribal lady aged 36 years was cured from abdominal cancer by the intercession of Mother Teresa, in the year 1998. On the basis of this first miracle, Mother Teresa was beatified by Pope John Paul-II on October 19, 2003. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” “Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.” “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” — Matthew 5:14–16 (KJV)» DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT Jesus makes a remarkable declaration to His followers: “Ye are the light of the world.” He does not describe His followers as people who merely carry light. He speaks of them as people whose lives are meant to become visible expressions of God's light in a darkened world. Light is meant to be seen. A city on a hill cannot remain unnoticed. A lamp is not lit so that it can be covered. Its purpose is to illuminate its surroundings. In the same way, the transforming work of Christ in your life is not intended to remain invisible. When Christ changes your heart, that transformation should eventually become visible in your character, conduct, relationships, decisions, compassion, integrity, generosity, forgiveness, and service. And there is a divine purpose behind this visibility: «“…that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”» Your life should shine brightly enough for others to see—but humbly enough for them to recognize God as the source. CHRIST'S LIGHT SHOULD BE VISIBLE THROUGH YOUR LIFE The world does not need another Christian who merely speaks about light. It needs believers who live as light. It is possible to talk about love without loving. It is possible to talk about forgiveness without forgiving. It is possible to talk about faith without trusting God when circumstances become difficult. It is possible to talk about generosity while remaining selfish. It is possible to talk about integrity while compromising when nobody is watching. Jesus calls us to something deeper. Let your life become evidence of what you believe. Your faith should influence the way you treat people. Your relationship with Christ should shape your decisions. Your love for God should affect your priorities. Your spiritual convictions should be visible in your conduct. When the light of Christ genuinely shines within you, it begins to affect the atmosphere around you. GOOD WORKS ARE LIGHT MADE VISIBLE Jesus connects our shining with “good works.” Good works are not simply impressive achievements. They are practical expressions of God's character through our lives. When you show compassion, light is shining. When you forgive, light is shining. When you help someone who cannot repay you, light is shining. When you speak truth with love, light is shining. When you remain honest under pressure, light is shining. When you encourage someone who has lost hope, light is shining. When you serve without demanding recognition, light is shining. When you use your resources to bless others, light is shining. When you choose peace instead of unnecessary conflict, light is shining. Good works make invisible faith visible. They give people an opportunity to encounter something of God's goodness through you. PEOPLE SHOULD SEE GOD THROUGH YOU Jesus does not say: “Let your light shine so that people will admire you.” He says: “…that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” This is the heart of Christian witness. Our lives should be like windows through which people can see God's character. A window is useful because it allows people to see beyond itself. In the same way, your life should help people look beyond you. When people experience your kindness, may they think about God's love. When they see your generosity, may they remember God's goodness. When they witness your integrity, may they recognize the value of God's truth. When they encounter your forgiveness, may they glimpse God's mercy. When they see your perseverance, may they recognize God's faithfulness. Your life should point beyond itself. DON'T STEAL THE GLORY FROM THE GIVER One of the greatest dangers of visible good works is the temptation to take personal glory for them. The more people notice your work, the greater the temptation to become addicted to recognition. You may begin asking: “Did they notice me?” “Did they praise me?” “Did they acknowledge what I did?” But Jesus redirects our attention. The ultimate question is: “Did this point people toward God?” God may allow people to see your work, but He wants their hearts directed toward Him. Therefore, serve without becoming obsessed with applause. Give without demanding recognition. Lead without seeking superiority. Succeed without becoming arrogant. Use influence without exploiting people. Let your light be visible, but let your heart remain humble. YOUR CHARACTER MAY BE YOUR GREATEST WITNESS Not every opportunity to shine will involve a dramatic miracle or public ministry. Sometimes your greatest witness will be your character in ordinary circumstances. How you respond when someone insults you. How you behave when nobody is watching. How you treat someone who cannot help you. How you handle money. How you respond to failure. How you behave when you receive success. How you treat people under your authority. How you speak about people who are absent. How faithfully you keep your word. These ordinary decisions reveal what is happening inside you. Character is light made consistent. When your private life and public confession agree, your testimony becomes credible. YOUR GOOD WORKS CAN CHANGE SOMEONE'S PERSPECTIVE You may never know the full impact of your actions. A person who has become discouraged may regain hope because you encouraged them. Someone who feels forgotten may feel valued because you noticed them. Someone who has been hurt may begin to believe in forgiveness because you demonstrated it. Someone who expects dishonesty may encounter integrity through you. Someone who feels unloved may experience compassion through your kindness. Sometimes people encounter God's love through the hands, words, and actions of another person. You may be carrying an answer to a prayer you never heard. Therefore, never consider an act of kindness insignificant simply because it seems small. In God's hands, small acts can have profound consequences. SHINE EVEN WHEN DARKNESS SURROUNDS YOU Light becomes most noticeable in darkness. There will be moments when your environment challenges your faith. You may be surrounded by negativity. You may encounter injustice. You may experience disappointment. You may be treated unfairly. You may face pressure to compromise. But your circumstances do not determine whether you should shine. In fact, difficult circumstances can provide some of the clearest opportunities for your faith to become visible. When you choose hope in a season of disappointment, your light shines. When you remain faithful during uncertainty, your light shines. When you refuse to become bitter after being hurt, your light shines. When you choose righteousness despite pressure, your light shines. Darkness does not make your light useless. It makes your light necessary. YOU ARE PLACED WHERE YOU ARE FOR A REASON Jesus' illustration of a city on a hill reminds us that position matters. God may have placed you in your present environment because someone there needs the light He has placed within you. Your family needs your light. Your workplace may need your light. Your community may need your light. Your friends may need your light. Your sphere of influence may need your light. Do not constantly wish yourself into another place before becoming faithful where you are. Shine where you are. Serve where you are. Love where you are. Encourage where you are. Demonstrate integrity where you are. Your current assignment may be more significant than you realize. YOUR LIGHT SHOULD PRODUCE HOPE There is enough discouragement in the world. People are carrying burdens that may not be visible. Some are struggling silently. Some have lost confidence. Some are disappointed by life. Some are searching for meaning. Some need someone to remind them that goodness still exists. Your light can become an instrument of hope. A smile can communicate warmth. A kind word can restore courage. A listening ear can relieve loneliness. A helping hand can provide practical relief. A faithful example can inspire perseverance. A testimony can remind someone that God has not abandoned them. Never underestimate the ministry of encouragement. Sometimes the person who shines brightest is simply the person who refuses to stop loving. LET CHRIST BE SEEN, NOT JUST HEARD The Christian message is powerful when it is both proclaimed and demonstrated. We should speak about Christ. But we should also live in a way that makes the message believable. Let people hear your faith in your words. Let them see your faith in your actions. Let them experience God's love through your character. Let them encounter God's grace through your forgiveness. Let them see God's generosity through your service. Let them recognize God's faithfulness through your perseverance. Let your life become a living testimony. WHEN YOUR LIGHT SHINES, GIVE GOD THE GLORY When people notice something good in you, remember where it came from. When someone compliments your character, thank God. When your work succeeds, acknowledge God's grace. When your gifts create opportunities, remember the Giver. When your influence grows, remain humble. When your good works bless others, give God the glory. You are not the source. You are a vessel. You are not the destination. You are a signpost. You are not the author of God's grace. You are a recipient and steward of it. Therefore, let your life continually declare: “To God be the glory.” A CALL TO SHINE TODAY Do not wait for a major platform. You can shine today. Someone needs encouragement. Someone needs forgiveness. Someone needs help. Someone needs kindness. Someone needs truth spoken with love. Someone needs to see integrity. Someone needs to experience compassion. Someone needs hope. Ask God: “Father, let Your light shine through me today. Show me who needs to experience Your goodness.” Then pay attention. The opportunity may be closer than you think. PRAYER Heavenly Father, Thank You for calling me the light of the world. Let the light of Christ shine through my life in a way that others can see Your goodness. Transform my character so that my actions agree with my faith. Teach me to love sincerely, forgive freely, serve faithfully, speak truthfully, give generously, and walk humbly. When people see my good works, prevent me from seeking personal glory. Turn their attention toward You. Let my life become a reflection of Your love. Let my character reveal Your grace. Let my service demonstrate Your goodness. Let my perseverance testify to Your faithfulness. Where there is darkness, make me a light. Where there is discouragement, make me a source of hope. Where there is need, make me willing to serve. May everyone who encounters my life ultimately be led to glorify my Father in heaven. In Jesus' name, Amen. DECLARATION OF FAITH The light of Christ shines through me. I will not hide it. TODAY'S KINGDOM INSIGHTS: SERMON TOPIC: PRAYER ALONE IS NOT A FINANCIAL STRATEGY. Faith Must Be Accompanied by Wisdom, Work, and Stewardship Text: Proverbs 21:5 > “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.” There is a dangerous statement that many Christians make: “I have prayed about it.” We pray for financial breakthrough. We pray for open doors. We pray for provision. We pray for business success. And then we do nothing. We don't learn a skill. We don't create a budget. We don't save. We don't improve our business. We don't study the market. We don't manage what God has already placed in our hands. Then we say, “I am waiting on God.” But sometimes, you are not waiting on God. God is waiting on you to act on the wisdom He has already given you. Prayer is powerful, but prayer was never designed to replace responsibility. Prayer connects us to God; wisdom teaches us what to do with what God puts in our hands. 1. PRAYER DOES NOT CANCEL THE PRINCIPLE OF WORK 2 Thessalonians 3:10 > “If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.” Paul was speaking strongly because Christianity does not promote laziness. God can provide supernaturally, but He also established the principle of work. From the beginning, God placed Adam in the garden “to work it and keep it” (Genesis 2:15). Notice this: Before the fall, there was work. Work is not a curse. Sweat and painful toil became part of the curse, but productive responsibility existed before sin. Therefore, don't pray: > “Lord, make me wealthy.” And refuse to develop yourself. Don't pray for customers while treating customers badly. Don't pray for promotion while refusing to improve your competence. Don't pray for business growth while refusing to understand your business. Spiritual principle: Prayer without action can become an excuse for inaction. Faith does not make us passive. Faith gives us courage to act. 2. GOD CAN GIVE YOU AN OPPORTUNITY, BUT YOU MUST DEVELOP THE CAPACITY TO HANDLE IT Proverbs 18:16 > “A man's gift makes room for him and brings him before the great.” Your gift can open a door. But capacity determines whether you can remain in the room. Imagine someone praying: > “Lord, give me a million-naira business.” God answers by giving them an opportunity. But they have no accounting system. No business plan. No customer service. No savings discipline. No knowledge of their industry. No understanding of profit and loss. The opportunity arrives, but the person destroys it through poor management. The problem was not the blessing. The problem was the capacity. This is why Christians must learn. Learn skills. Read books. Take courses. Ask questions. Study your profession. Understand money. Understand business. Understand technology. Hosea 4:6 > “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Sometimes what we call spiritual attack is actually lack of knowledge. Not every financial problem requires another prayer meeting. Some require: education, discipline, planning, accountability and wise decisions. 3. BIBLICAL FAITH INCLUDES PLANNING. Proverbs 21:5 > “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance.” The Bible doesn't only teach us to pray. It teaches us to plan. Luke 14:28 Jesus asked: > “Which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost?” Jesus introduced a financial principle: COUNT THE COST. Before you spend, calculate. Before you borrow, calculate. Before you start a business, calculate. Before you invest, investigate. Before you expand, plan. Before you buy something because everybody is buying it, ask: Can I afford this? A Christian should not be financially controlled by emotions. Simple financial rule: Pray → Plan → Act → Monitor → Adjust. Don't just pray and spend. Don't just believe and borrow. Don't just confess prosperity and ignore your bank statement. Faith must be accompanied by wisdom. 4. JOSEPH SHOWED US THAT SPIRITUAL WISDOM AND FINANCIAL STRATEGY CAN WORK TOGETHER. One of the greatest biblical examples is Joseph. In Genesis 41, Pharaoh had a dream about seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine. Joseph interpreted the dream. But he didn't stop at interpretation. He presented a strategy. Genesis 41:34–36 Joseph recommended that Egypt appoint someone to collect and store a portion of the harvest during the seven prosperous years. Why? Because abundance today does not guarantee abundance tomorrow. Joseph understood: Provision must be managed. God gave the increase. Joseph developed the strategy. The people worked. The harvest was stored. And when famine came, Egypt had resources. The lesson is powerful: God can give you a harvest, but wisdom teaches you how to preserve it. Some people don't have an income problem. They have a management problem. Money enters. Money leaves. Nothing is saved. Nothing is invested. Nothing is developed. Then another prayer begins: > “Lord, bless me financially.” But God may be saying: “I have already blessed you. Learn how to manage what I put in your hands.” 5. THE PARABLE OF THE TALENTS: GOD EXPECTS PRODUCTIVITY Matthew 25:14–30 Jesus told the story of three servants. One received five talents. Another received two. Another received one. The first two servants put what they received to work. The third servant buried his talent. The master condemned him—not because he received less, but because he did nothing productive with what he received. This is a serious lesson. What are you doing with what God has already given you? Your phone can be a tool. Your education can be a tool. Your voice can be a tool. Your hands can be a tool. Your creativity can be a tool. Your knowledge can be a tool. Your social media platform can be a tool. Your small business can be a tool. Your property can be a tool. Your gift can be a tool. Stop asking only, “Lord, what will You give me?” Begin asking: > “Lord, what can I do with what You have already given me?” 🔥 REAL-LIFE CASE STUDY. Consider two Christians who both lose their jobs. Christian A He spends every day praying: > “Father, give me a financial breakthrough.” He attends prayer meetings. He fasts. He confesses scriptures. But he refuses to learn anything new. He refuses temporary work because it is beneath him. He refuses to start small. He waits for a miracle. Christian B She also prays. But after praying, she asks: > “Lord, what can I do?” She identifies a skill she can learn. She starts small. She serves people. She saves a percentage of every income. She reinvests some profit. She improves her skill. She learns from experienced people. Two years later, her small beginning has become a sustainable source of income. Who prayed? Both. Who acted? One. And this is the difference: Prayer seeks God's direction. Wisdom creates a plan. Discipline produces consistency. Work creates value. Stewardship preserves resources. 💡 DEEP SPIRITUAL INSIGHTS. 1. God is not against your financial prosperity; He is against financial idolatry. Money is a terrible god but a useful servant. 2. Financial blessing without financial wisdom can become financial destruction. If you increase someone's income without increasing their wisdom, you may simply increase the size of their problems. 3. A miracle can change your situation, but character determines what you do afterward. God can open a door in one day. But building something sustainable may require years of discipline. 4. Small beginnings should not be despised. Zechariah 4:10 > “For whoever has despised the day of small things?” Don't be ashamed to start small. A small business can grow. A small saving can become substantial. A small skill can become a profession. A small audience can become a platform. A small idea can become an enterprise. Don't wait for something big before you become faithful. 🛠️ PRACTICAL ACTION STEPS. Starting today: 1. Pray for wisdom, not merely money. 2. Write down your income and expenses. Know where your money is going. 3. Create a realistic budget. Give every major portion of your income a purpose. 4. Learn one valuable skill. Technology, communication, writing, sales, design, agriculture, digital skills, craftsmanship—whatever can create legitimate value. 5. Start with what you have. Don't wait until everything is perfect. 6. Avoid unnecessary debt. Especially debt created by impulse, status or pressure. 7. Build an emergency reserve. Prepare for unexpected seasons. 8. Separate needs from wants. Not everything you desire is something you need. 9. Seek wise counsel. Proverbs 15:22 > “Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed.” 10. Give God the glory and remain generous. Financial wisdom is not about becoming selfish. We prosper so that we can become a blessing. 🤔 QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION. 1. Am I praying for money while refusing to work? 2. What am I currently doing with the gifts God has given me? 3. Do I have a financial plan? 4. Where does most of my money go? 5. What skill can I learn in the next six months? 6. Am I living according to my income or beyond it? 7. Do I save anything consistently? 8. Am I asking God for more while mismanaging what I already have? 9. Who can provide me with wise financial counsel? 10. If God increased my income tomorrow, would my character and financial discipline be ready? 🙏 POWERFUL PRAYER POINTS. 1. Prayer for Wisdom Father, give me wisdom to manage every resource You place in my hands. 2. Prayer for Discipline Lord, deliver me from financial waste, impulsive spending and poor decisions. 3. Prayer for Opportunity Father, open legitimate doors of opportunity and give me discernment to recognize them. 4. Prayer for Capacity Lord, increase my knowledge, skills, creativity and capacity to create value. 5. Prayer for Diligence Father, deliver me from laziness and give me the grace to work faithfully and consistently. 6. Prayer for Provision Lord, meet my genuine needs and make me a channel of blessing to others. 7. Beloved, hear this: Prayer is not useless. Prayer is powerful. But prayer was never intended to replace obedience, wisdom, work and stewardship. Nehemiah prayed and built. Joseph trusted God and developed a strategy. The wise servant received resources and put them to work. The Proverbs repeatedly commend diligence, planning and wisdom. So don't leave this message saying: > “I need more money.” Leave saying: > “I need more wisdom.” Don't only ask: > “God, bless the work of my hands.” Ask: > “Lord, teach my hands to work wisely.” Don't only pray for an open door. Prepare yourself to walk through it. Don't only ask God for a harvest. Develop the capacity to manage the harvest. And remember: > Prayer connects you to the Provider. He believed and practiced "Evangelism by Fire" which was compiled into a Book. It focused on passionate, Holy Spirit-led soul-winning. Preaching with the fire of the Holy Spirit is rooted in scripture like Luke 3:16, *"he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire"*. The "fire" represents God's active, undeniable power, zeal and purity in sharing the Gospel. Bonnke’s teaching emphasized that an unpreached gospel is incomplete; believers are called to actively engage the lost rather than wait passively. The Great Commission urges Christians to center their lives and ministries around fulfilling Jesus' command to preach to all nations. While not every believer is called to be an evangelist, every believer is called to be a passionate soulwinner. Obedience to the call to win souls is pivotal to Christian growth, exploits for Christ and making heaven at last. *1. Miracle Attestation by Christ* a. Holy Ghost fire was kindled in Jerusalem, the city that killed the Saviour and were breathing out hatred and violence against anything called Christ. That fire of the gospel, rather than being quenched, was able to overcome satanic oppositions of religious leaders. There was an explosion of revival. The population of the early Christian church grew from about 1,000 believers in AD 40 to roughly 6 million people, about 10% of the Roman Empire by AD 300. At that rate, in 350 AD, there were 33,882,005 Christians in a population of 60 Million or 56.% of the Roman Population. What was the main and initial secret that could break all oppositions? *"And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people"*. First, this was what Jesus promised them in Mark 16:16-20. God will always faithfully keep to the part of His deal if we do our part. While every believer is given power to heal and deliver the oppressed, God determines who He will use for mighty miracles and great deliverances. That time He used the Apostles. *"And they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch"*. First, it takes a greater miracle to turn the mind and heart of man to be united with that of fellow believers than to move mountains. Where there is true unity, the genuine work of the Holy Spirit is evident and the mighty manifestations through the power of the Holy Spirit is irresistible. b. Their venue of the gathering was Solomon’s Porch. It is the second temple with a massive compound, with extensive colonnades and covered areas. No doubt, the early Christians gathered together in a particular area of the temple complex, in an area open to all. This underlines the importance of vibrant fellowship for revival to take place. Once there is coldness and mere routine in the attendance of fellowship of the brethren, personal and corporate revival becomes elusive. *Question* Do you have the fire for fellowship, unity with the brethren and passion for souls? *2. Multitude Additions to the Church* a. True revival or divine visitation is not known by just the additions of people to the local church, but by the additions of people to the Lord through genuine and observable conversions. "Mixed multitudes" can just be added to the church so as to belong to the winning team in the society or to continue eating the daily manna in the wilderness. *"And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women"*. The multitudes that were added were first added to the Lord before they were counted as being added to the visible church. Changed and transformed lives are the only parameter for true additions to the church. b. There were miracles that attested to what they were preaching and those undeniable miracles contributed to the silencing of the arch-enemies of the gospel and made people to rebel against their antagonism of the gospel. *"Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them"*. The shadow of Peter did not have healing power, but Jesus used his shadow to heal. People understood Peter when he announced that the miracles that happened were never *"by our power and holiness"* (Acts 3:12-16). Since they did not idolize the shadow of Peter, Jesus could continue using that shadow for His glory. We should not idolize whatever or whosoever God is using to do wonders else the wonders will cease. What do you expect? There came *"Multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one"*. This was an answer to what the Apostles prayed for in Acts 4:30. Some prayed for prosperity and they got it. It is always good to prioritize prayers according to the mind of Christ. Our prayers should be salvation centred. Miracles are heralds of church growth that break skepticism in the heart and convince the sinners of the presence, power and passion of Christ to help the needy. *Question* "And they were healed everyone". Why is this not happening today? *3. Many still Adamant in Carnality* a. Can you imagine that inspite of the visible transformed lives of believers and the clear manifestations of the power of God in a way that had never happened in Israel, some still refused to be converted? They admired the miracles, the integrity, the righteous living and the consecration of the saints to Christ, but they were not ready to pay the price of righteous living. They chose to continue in the carnal ways against all entreaties to get converted. They were deceived to think that serving self and Satan rather than the Saviour was better. *"And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them"*. This is the state of sinners today. This makes the preaching of the gospel to be continuous without relenting or satisfaction with the status quo. Every believer must be engaged, therefore, in persuading and convincing sinners that following Christ is better than following the way of sin and carnality. *"Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men"* (2 Corinthians 5:11). Peter also did this work of persuasion in the day of Pentecost. *"And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation"* (Acts 2:40). This statement is a clear expression of His grace towards him. God decided to meet man's needs. From the man, a rib was taken and made into a wife. She was brought to the man, and he recognised her as bone and flesh of himself. Proverbs 18:22 says, "He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favour from the Lord." A wife who fails to present herself as a favour to her husband has been unable to recognise her worth as a precious gift from God. Women ought to cherish and submit to their husbands as God intends. You are a good gift from God to your husband. Hence, do not be troublesome such that your husband will desire happiness outside the home (Prov. 27:15-16). *REFLECTION:* Wives are gifts from God. *PRAYER:* Lord, thank You for the gift of wives. But if you look around and see what is happening, you realize that you do not see the evil one personally, but you do see what he is doing. Do you know that the evil one is patrolling the earth? One day, while God was sitting on His throne, He allowed the angels to appear before Him so He could judge their works. On that day which we read about in the book of Job, the evil one also appears among the angels. God interrupts His lawsuit, turns to the evil one and asks: 'Where have you come from'? The evil one answers: 'I have been patrolling the earth.' The work of the evil one When the evil one is patrolling the earth, he inspires troublemakers to mess things up. He tries to separate husband and wife, mother and child or brother and sister. There is no greater pleasure for him to bring separation into a church. Jesus says to Peter: 'Listen, satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat.' Separation is the work of the evil one while he patrols the earth. He will also visit you during his patrol. You cannot escape from it. Another tactic he uses is deception. With his lies, he attempts for example for people to disobey the Word of God. There are many who hear 'voices' and do terrible things. I can tell you from whom those voices are. There is hope Yet there is hope! Because Jesus Christ came into the world to put an end to the activities of the evil one. There is hope in whatever misery, there is hope in each circumstance. Jesus crushed the head of the evil one on the cross. charles Spurgeon Morning devotional "But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her." Mark 1:30 Very interesting is this little peep into the house of the Apostolic Fisherman. We see at once that household joys and cares are no hindrance to the full exercise of ministry, nay, that since they furnish an opportunity for personally witnessing the Lord's gracious work upon one's own flesh and blood, they may even instruct the teacher better than any other earthly discipline. Papists and other sectaries may decry marriage, but true Christianity and household life agree well together. Peter's house was probably a poor fisherman's hut, but the Lord of Glory entered it, lodged in it, and wrought a miracle in it. Should our little book be read this morning in some very humble cottage, let this fact encourage the inmates to seek the company of King Jesus. God is oftener in little huts than in rich palaces. Jesus is looking round your room now, and is waiting to be gracious to you. Into Simon's house sickness had entered, fever in a deadly form had prostrated his mother-in-law, and as soon as Jesus came they told him of the sad affliction, and he hastened to the patient's bed. Have you any sickness in the house this morning? You will find Jesus by far the best physician, go to him at once and tell him all about the matter. Immediately lay the case before him. It concerns one of his people, and therefore will not be trivial to him. Observe, that at once the Saviour restored the sick woman; none can heal as he does. We may not make sure that the Lord will at once remove all disease from those we love, but we may know that believing prayer for the sick is far more likely to be followed by restoration than anything else in the world; and where this avails not, we must meekly bow to his will by whom life and death are determined. The tender heart of Jesus waits to hear our griefs, let us pour them into his patient ear.
