THE HIDDEN POWER OF SALT IN THE BIBLE: WHY GOD USED SALT SO OFTEN

Have you ever wondered why salt appears over and over again in the Bible?

It was never just a seasoning.

From Genesis to the New Testament, salt carried deep spiritual meaning. It represented purity, preservation, faithfulness, covenant, wisdom, and even judgment.

Let's explore what God was teaching through salt.

    1. ELISHA USED SALT TO HEAL THE WATERS OF JERICHO

    2 Kings 2:19–22

After Elijah was taken to heaven, Elisha arrived in Jericho.

    The people said:

«"The city is pleasant, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive."»

    God instructed Elisha:

«"Bring me a new bowl, and put salt in it."»

Elisha threw the salt into the spring and declared:

«"Thus says the LORD, 'I have healed these waters; from now on neither death nor miscarriage shall come from them.'" (2 Kings 2:21)»

    Immediately the waters became pure.

    Notice something important.

The miracle was not in the salt.

The salt was simply an act of obedience through which God demonstrated His power.

    Spiritual meaning:

God can cleanse what sin has poisoned.

He can restore what seemed permanently ruined.

When God speaks, even bitter waters become life-giving.

    2. EVERY GRAIN OFFERING HAD TO INCLUDE SALT

    Leviticus 2:13

    God commanded Israel:

«"Season all your grain offerings with salt. Do not leave the salt of the covenant of your God out of your grain offerings; add salt to all your offerings."»

    Why?

    Because salt preserves.

    It resists corruption.

It symbolized that Israel's worship should never become spiritually corrupt.

    Spiritual meaning:

God desires worship that remains pure, faithful, and sincere.

Our devotion should not spoil with compromise.

    3. GOD ESTABLISHED A "COVENANT OF SALT"

    Numbers 18:19

    God told Aaron:

«"It is a covenant of salt forever before the LORD."»

    Again in:

    2 Chronicles 13:5

God declared that He gave David the kingdom by a covenant of salt forever.

In the ancient world, salt was valuable and enduring.

A covenant sealed with salt symbolized permanence, loyalty, and faithfulness.

    Spiritual meaning:

God does not abandon His promises.

What He establishes, He is faithful to keep.

    4. JESUS CALLED BELIEVERS "THE SALT OF THE EARTH"

    Matthew 5:13

    Jesus said:

«"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again?"»

    Salt preserves food from decay.

Likewise, believers are called to preserve truth in a corrupt world.

We are meant to influence the world—not be influenced by it.

    Spiritual meaning:

Christians should slow the spread of moral decay by living holy lives, speaking truth, and reflecting Christ's character.

    5. JESUS SAID TO HAVE SALT IN YOURSELVES

    Mark 9:50

    Jesus taught:

«"Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness... Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with one another."»

This points to inward spiritual character.

    Spiritual meaning:

God desires hearts marked by wisdom, humility, holiness, and peace.

    6. PAUL COMPARED OUR WORDS TO SALT

    Colossians 4:6

    Paul wrote:

«"Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt."»

Our words should preserve life, bring wisdom, and point people toward Christ.

Instead of spreading bitterness, believers should speak words that heal, encourage, and build others up.

    7. SALT WAS ALSO A SIGN OF JUDGMENT

The Bible also uses salt to represent desolation when people reject God.

After the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah:

    Genesis 19:26

Lot's wife looked back in disobedience and became a pillar of salt.

Her story stands as a warning against longing for the sinful life God has called us to leave behind.

Later, Scripture describes lands under God's judgment as barren and covered with salt.

    Deuteronomy 29:23

    Judges 9:45

These passages show that the same symbol could represent either blessing or judgment, depending on humanity's response to God.

WHAT DOES SALT REPRESENT IN THE BIBLE?

    Salt symbolizes:

    • Purity

    • Preservation

    • Faithfulness

    • God's everlasting covenant

    • Holiness

    • Wisdom

    • Gracious speech

    • Healing through God's power

    • A warning against corruption and disobedience

    THE GREATEST LESSON

Salt itself has no supernatural power.

The Bible never teaches that salt possesses mystical or magical abilities.

Whenever God used salt, it was because He chose it as a symbol or as part of an act of obedience.

The power was always God's—not the salt.

Today, God still heals bitter lives.

    He restores broken families.

    He renews weary hearts.

He preserves those who remain faithful to Him.

The same God who healed the waters of Jericho is still able to transform what seems impossible.

  • Mystical Gardens Tale

    The Cooling Waters

Jill had decided that summer had officially become personal. The heat had been unbearable for days. Not the pleasant kind of summer warmth that made people want to sit outside with a cold drink. This was the kind of heat that seemed to crawl beneath your skin and stay there.

Jill woke up irritated. She stepped outside and immediately began sweating. “Wonderful,” she muttered. “It's going to be another one of those days.”

Her car wouldn't start. “Of course it won't.” The air conditioner at work wasn't working properly. “Of course it isn't.” Someone had left a door open, letting hot air into the building. “Who does that?” Then someone accidentally bumped into her in the hallway. “Watch where you're going!”

The woman stopped and stared at Jill. “I'm sorry.”

Jill walked away without answering. She didn't notice the hurt look on the woman's face.

By lunchtime, Jill was ready to scream. The restaurant was crowded. Someone's child was crying. A man at the next table was talking too loudly. The waitress brought Jill the wrong drink.

    “This isn't what I ordered.”
“I apologize. I'll get you another one.”
“And could you please get it right this time?”

The waitress's smile disappeared. Jill didn't notice. Or perhaps she did, but she was too irritated to care. Everything seemed to bother her. A phone ringing. A dog barking. Someone chewing too loudly. A car driving too slowly. A person looking at her for what Jill was certain was too long.

“What are you looking at?” she snapped.
    The man quickly looked away.

By late afternoon, Jill was exhausted. And angry. Mostly angry. She couldn't even explain why anymore. All she knew was that everything was getting on her nerves. Then, on her way home, Jill saw something she hadn't seen before. A narrow path between two old trees.

It hadn't been there yesterday. Jill stopped. She stared at it. Beyond the trees was a faint green glow. Normally, she would have walked away. But today she was hot, tired, frustrated, and completely out of patience and whatever was there had to be better than here, so she stepped onto the path.

Within moments, the world changed. The heat disappeared. Jill stopped walking. A cool breeze brushed across her face. She closed her eyes. “Oh…”

She hadn't realized how badly she needed that. The garden stretched out before her. Tall trees formed a canopy overhead. Little streams wound between moss-covered stones. Flowers opened beneath the shade, and somewhere nearby, water trickled over smooth rocks.

There were no car horns. No ringing phones. No barking dogs. No crying children. No voices demanding anything from her. Just quiet. Beautiful, peaceful quiet.

Jill sat beside the stream and dipped her hands into the cool water. For the first time all day, her shoulders relaxed. She took a deep breath. Then another. And suddenly, something uncomfortable happened... She began remembering.

The woman in the hallway. “Watch where you're going!”

The waitress. “Could you please get it right this time?”

The man at the restaurant. “What are you looking at?”

    Her coworker. “Who does that?”

One memory after another came rushing back. Jill lowered her head. “Oh no.” She hadn't simply been having a bad day. She had been handing that bad day to everyone around her. She had taken her frustration, her discomfort, and her exhaustion and thrown them at people who hadn't caused any of it.

The garden remained silent. But Jill had the strange feeling that the giant tree at the center of the garden was watching her.

    “I was miserable,” she whispered.
A leaf drifted down beside her.
Jill picked it up. “I was hot. I was tired. Everything was going wrong.” She sighed. “But that doesn't mean I had to make everybody else miserable too.”

The breeze moved gently through the branches. Jill smiled sadly. “You know what's worse?” She looked toward the path.
“I don't even know if any of them deserved an apology from me.” She paused. “Of course they do.”

For the first time that day, Jill laughed at herself. She had spent hours thinking everyone else was the problem. But the garden had given her something the heat never could. Perspective.

Jill stood. “I can't undo what I said.” She looked toward the great tree. “But I can go back and do better.”

The garden seemed to grow a little brighter. Jill stepped onto the path. The heat returned when she reached the other side. But something inside her had changed. The temperature hadn't changed. Her circumstances hadn't changed. Her car was still broken. The air conditioner still wasn't working. Tomorrow might be just as hot. But Jill wasn't going to let the heat decide who she was.

The next morning, she found the woman from the hallway. “I'm sorry,” Jill said.

    The woman looked surprised.

“For yesterday. You didn't deserve the way I spoke to you.”

Then Jill found the waitress. She apologized there too.

And when someone accidentally bumped into her later that afternoon, Jill felt irritation rising inside her. She opened her mouth. Then stopped. She took a breath. “It's okay,” she said.

The person smiled. And Jill smiled back.

That evening, Jill returned to the garden. She sat beneath the great tree with her feet beside the cool stream. “Thank you,” she whispered.

She finally understood something the garden had been trying to teach her. Sometimes we are uncomfortable. Sometimes we are tired. Sometimes the world seems to be working against us. And sometimes we have every reason to be frustrated. But our circumstances may explain why we're hurting without giving us permission to hurt someone else.

The garden could cool Jill's skin. But only she could choose to cool the anger in her heart. And that choice was worth far more than a cool breeze.

    Seed from the Garden

“A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.” — Proverbs 15:1

You may not be able to control the heat, the noise, the traffic, the broken air conditioner, or the things other people do.
But you can choose what you do with the frustration those things create inside you.
Before you hand your bad day to someone else, stop.

Breathe. Cool down. And remember: They may not be the reason you're hurting. Don't make them pay for it.

  • In the Dark Ages and Early Middle Ages, the Catholic Church attempted to oppose the paganism involved in the Samhain festival by making November 1 All Saints’ Day and November 2 All Souls’ Day. As noted, All Saints’ Day was a remembrance and celebration of the saints, especially the ones who were heroic martyrs (people who died for their faith). All Souls’ Day became a day on which Roman Catholics prayed for the dead in order to help them escape the torments of purgatory.
In the year AD 609 or 610, Pope Boniface IV grievously strayed from biblical teaching by dedicating the Roman Pantheon, formerly a pagan temple to every known god, to the Virgin Mary and all Christian martyrs. This was done on May 13, a day that became a feast day. In 835 Pope Gregory IV transferred this feast to November 1 and extended it to include all of the saints. As a result, November 1, All Saints’ Day, the day after Halloween (Hallows’ Eve or All Saints’ Eve), became a day dedicated by the Catholic Church to the Virgin Mary and the saints. Eventually, November 2 evolved into All Souls’ Day, a special day to pray for the dead. As we will see, this custom supposedly originated with a mystical vision of the Catholic Saint Odilo, who died in 1048. - JOHN ANKERBERG

  • The Seer Prophet and the Prophetic Night Watches

One of the first classrooms God enrolls an emerging Seer Prophet into is not a church...

    It is the night.

Long before the Seer understands visions...

    He discovers watches.

Long before he understands prophetic language...

He learns that heaven often interrupts sleep before it interrupts schedules.

Many Seer Prophets spend years trying to understand why this happens.

Why do I keep waking at unusual hours?

Why do dreams suddenly become more frequent?

Why does prayer seem different after midnight?

Why does heaven seem to speak when the world has fallen asleep?

    Most explanations stop at mystery.

    "Heaven is more open."

    "The fourth watch is powerful."

    "Demons are active."

    "Angels are moving."

While there may be biblical discussions about watches of the night, I believe something far more fundamental is taking place.

God does not primarily educate the Seer in the night because the night is mystical.

He educates the Seer in the night because the night removes competitors.

    During the day...

    People demand your attention.

    Responsibilities compete for your thoughts.

The noise of life fills the soul.

But the night does something remarkable.

    The marketplace grows quiet.

    Conversations cease.

    The eyes close.

    The body rests.

Everything that normally competes for your attention begins to surrender.

Not because God has become more willing to speak...

But because you have become more available to listen.

This is one of the first lessons of prophetic formation.

God often speaks most clearly when every competing voice has been silenced.

There is another mystery hidden within the night that many Seer Prophets overlook.

    Darkness weakens natural sight.

    Ironically...

That is precisely when God begins strengthening spiritual sight.

The Seer Prophet is slowly being taught that revelation does not depend upon physical vision.

    It depends upon divine illumination.

Perhaps this explains why Scripture repeatedly associates prophetic revelation with the night.

Jacob encountered the heavenly ladder while he slept.

Samuel heard the voice of the Lord while lying in the sanctuary.

Daniel received visions in the night.

    Job declared,

"In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men..."

The pattern is too consistent to ignore.

God has always used the night as one of His oldest schools for prophetic formation.

Not because darkness possesses unusual spiritual power...

But because the night quietly teaches the Seer something daylight rarely can.

The eyes that close to the natural world often become the eyes that open to the unseen.

  • Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

What does it mean to be a good Christian?

    Why are you a Christian?

Yes, I realize that it is early in the morning. I am barely through my first half of my first cup of coffee, and I did not even warn you of the pop quiz. What a meanie. However, look and really think about those two questions. The first one has lots of answers, depending on which voice you are truly listening to. The ‘world’ has a very in-depth thought of what a ‘good’ Christian is supposed to be. The second one tugs more at your heart and core.

Quick note: Please remember that in all of my papers, I am speaking from my point of view on items that God is working on in me. I do not point fingers at anyone other than myself.

What does it mean to be a good Christian? This is a loaded question. Those who have walked with Him for a while know just how loaded it is. What I mean is, scripture states that only the Father is ‘good’, so to be a ‘good’ Christian is impossible. However, if we change that question to read: What does it look like to be an obedient Christian? That changes the atmosphere a bit.

I can never be a good Christian because my flesh will always win in some aspect; however, I can be an obedient Christian and march to His drum by doing my due diligence to follow His Word. To love as He loves me. To forgive as he forgives me. To trust in His plan for me. To converse with him daily and remain in Him. To set the example for others, as He has set the example for me. And … when I fail … oh and I fail frequently … ask Him to forgive me, guide me, and strengthen me to do better next time.

One way that I do this is by living in such a manner that people want and desire to know why I am so happy, joyful, peaceful, and loving. Especially in stressful times. How I can nonchalantly go about my life without distress…at least in public? Too often I have been approached and asked, ‘How?’ and that is when the door is opened for me to share His Good News. The way that I act and respond is the only Bible that many non-believers or skeptics ever see, so I want to make sure that I am giving a good and proper representation. When I fall short, they also see that I am human and not robotically controlled by what the world would classify as a mystical being. Daily, I look for only and I mean ONLY the Light. The dark and chaos are far too easy to witness, but the Light … you have to want to find it in order to see it. No matter how bright it is, if you are not willing to seek it … then you will not notice it.

    Why am I a Christian?

My testimony to becoming a Christian is nothing spectacular or earth-shattering. I spent time with some Christians in school. Then one day I decided I wanted to take the plunge. Because it was out of left field, many thought it was a stunt for closer friendships, but in reality … though I did not truly understand His timing … it was simply an act of obedience. He called. I answered. There was no epiphany or grand anything … doors did not open wide and all kinds of things happen that I never thought would happen. It truly was a nonchalant act of obedience. The true testimony comes from later in my life and will have to be another day.

    Why am I a Christian?

Simply put, I find a calming peace in my soul every day knowing that I am not in control of everything in the world and that I can have a great life when I leave the worldly stuff to Him. It is not always easy for me, because I am a fixer … however … I truly believe that my example of being able to let go and let God can be demonstrated, and those who know me know ME; then that will be the starting point for someone who needs this peace too. That is why I am a Christian. To share His wealth with those who do not know it.

What is your answer to those questions?

    Be blessed.

**Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. – Psalm 125:1
Good morning to everyone. "The Two Gates"

Ashira woke Nica before sunrise. That alone was strange. The tree rarely disturbed her sleep unless something important was happening. Ashira said she had to be warned. Something was coming. When Nica stepped outside, the stars still glittered overhead. Ashira's leaves trembled although there was no wind. "Come," Ashira whispered.

Nica followed a path she had never seen before. The path led to a clearing where two gates stood side by side. One gate gleamed with gold and jewels. Music drifted through it. Laughter echoed beyond it. The path leading to it was broad and smooth.

The second gate was plain. Made of weathered wood. Its path was narrow and rocky. It was not paved and looked difficult to travel.

"Why are there two gates?" Nica asked.

Ashira was silent for a long moment. "Because every soul must choose."

    Nica frowned. "Choose what?"

The garden's branches shivered. "Whom they will serve. And where they will spend eternity."

As Nica watched, people began appearing on the broad path. Some carried sacks of money. Some carried trophies. Some carried mirrors and admired their own reflections. Others only carried their anger, bitterness, pride, and selfish desires. None of them looked at the narrow gate.

The broad gate promised everything they wanted. But when they stepped through, Nica saw something disturbing. The beautiful music became distorted. The golden light faded. The travelers vanished into shadows.

Nica's stomach tightened. "Do they know where they're going?"

"Some do," Ashira said sadly. "Many do not."

Then Nica looked toward the narrow gate. The people walking that path carried different things. Many of them prayed as they walked. Their faith radiated from them like the light from a candle. They showed the ones around them kindness. They easily forgave any wrong done to them. Some stumbled. Some wept. Some were tired. Yet a warm light shone ahead of them. A light that grew brighter with every step.

A deep rumbling echoed in the distance. Dark smoke filled the sky. Something was burning. She could feel something coming. Flowing over the land.

    "What's coming?" Nica asked quietly.

Ashira's roots shifted beneath the earth. "A storm unlike any before. In the end of days, the earth shall be destroyed by fire."

Dark clouds gathered on the horizon. Lightning flashed. The earth trembled. Yet neither path changed. The broad path remained broad. The narrow path remained narrow.

"Many spend their lives pretending they do not have to choose," Ashira said. "But the fire will burn away all the lies and reveal every truth, every foundation."

Nica watched as fire began to fall from the sky. Those who had built their lives on wealth, popularity, power, and pride panicked. Everything they trusted burned away. But those walking toward the narrow gate stood firm. Not because they were stronger. Because their foundation was stronger. The fire never came close to them.

Ashira's voice softened. "You must tell them the time for drifting is ending. Tell them every heart serves something. Tell them the Son still welcomes all who come. But tell them now is the time that they must choose."

    Scriptures

Matthew 7:13-14 (the narrow and broad gates)
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction and many enter.

Joshua 24:15 ("Choose this day whom you will serve") As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Matthew 7:24-27 (the wise and foolish builders) Therefore everyone who heard these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against the house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who heard these words and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.

The Silent Tree - Part 2

Daniel froze. The whisper had come from the tree. But somehow he knew it had not been the tree who had spoken. The voice had sounded different. Afraid. Weak. Almost desperate.

"Help..." the voice whispered again. Daniel stepped closer.

    "Who's there?"

No answer. The garden remained silent. Even the wind seemed afraid to move. Daniel placed his hand against the bark. The tree felt cold. Not winter cold, but lonely cold. As though something precious had been lost.

He slowly walked around the massive trunk, searching for any sign of where the voice had come from. That was when he noticed something strange that caught his eye. Near the roots, hidden beneath a pile of dead leaves, was a small opening.

Daniel knelt beside it. At first he thought it was a hollow knot in the wood. Daniel knelt. The opening was barely large enough for a child to crawl through. Inside was darkness. Two frightened eyes blinked at him. Daniel jumped backward. Something blinked again.

Then a tiny voice spoke. "Please don't leave."

Daniel stared. Curled inside the hollow root was a very small creature unlike anything he had ever seen. She looked almost like a rabbit. Almost. Her fur shimmered with a light of its own. Tiny leaves wrapped around her from the tips of her ears to her small fluffy tail. Vines wrapped gently around her paws. Most surprising of all were the little green wings folded against her back. She looked exhausted.

    "What are you?" Daniel asked.

The creature lowered her head. "I'm the guardian."

    Daniel blinked. "The guardian?"

    She nodded. "Tansy."

Daniel glanced up at the giant leafless tree. Then back at the tiny creature. "Are you the one who called for help?"

Tears filled her eyes. "I didn't know what else to do."

Daniel sat beside the root. "What happened here?"

Tansy looked toward the silent tree. For a long moment she said nothing. When she finally spoke, her voice trembled.

"Someone tried to steal the tree."

Daniel felt a chill run down his spine. "The tree? How? What? Who?"

"They said if they could get the seed at the base of the trunk, they wouldn't have to move the tree. It's called the Heart Seed."

Daniel frowned. "The seed is still there even after the tree and the garden grew from it? I've never heard of that."

"Most humans haven't." Tansy's wings drooped. "The Heart Seed lives beneath every great tree. It's where the garden's life begins. The streams, flowers, creatures, and paths all grow from it and draw strength from it."

Daniel looked around. Suddenly everything made sense. The brown grass. The wilted flowers. The silent stream. The missing leaves. Without the Heart Seed, the garden was dying.

    "Who took it?" Daniel asked.

Tansy shook her head. "I don't know."

    "When did this happen?"

"Three nights ago." Tears ran down her cheeks.

Daniel stood and looked toward the distant edge of the garden. The trees there seemed darker somehow. As if shadows lingered between them. Then he noticed something in the dirt. A trail. Deep marks pressed into the earth. Not footprints.

Daniel looked back at Tansy. "I think whoever took it left a trail."

Hope flickered in her eyes for the first time. "You'll help us?"

Daniel looked at the dying garden. Then at the silent tree. Then toward the dark woods beyond. He swallowed hard. He had wanted an adventure. Now he had one.

"Yes, I'll help." He gave her a small smile.

Far away, deep within the dark forest, something moved. And for the briefest moment, a faint green glow pulsed between the trees. A loud crack sounded and it vibrated throughout the garden.

    Locked Gates

Sarah walked out of the doctors office with tears staring to fall. She had tried to hold them back while the doctor explained how she would have to have surgery, there was no other option. She knew that there was another option.

Sarah had spent years reading about God's promises. She knew the verses. She knew God could heal. She knew God could provide. She knew God could open doors no one else could open.

If someone asked her if she believed God could do those things, she would answer, "Of course." But deep inside, she carried another thought. "God can do it for everyone else, but I'm not sure He would do it for me."

That evening, while walking home, Sarah found herself standing before a garden she had never seen before. A beautiful iron gate stood open. Beyond it were flowers of every color imaginable, winding paths, sparkling streams, and at the center, a magnificent tree whose branches seemed to touch the clouds.

Curious, Sarah stepped inside. As she walked deeper into the garden, she noticed something strange. Many of the paths led to wonderful things. One path led to a cottage marked Peace. Another led to a fountain called Provision. A third led to an orchard named Restoration. Yet every path ended at a locked gate.

Sarah frowned. "Why would someone build such a beautiful garden and lock everything away?"

The great tree rustled softly. Its leaves shimmered like sunlight dancing across water. "Why don't you open them?" asked the tree.

    Sarah laughed. "I can't. They're locked."

"Are they?" The tree pointed a branch toward the nearest gate.

Sarah stepped closer. Instead of a lock, there was only a simple handle. Confused, she pulled it and the gate swung open instantly.

    Sarah blinked. "It wasn't locked!"

"No," said the tree. "You only believed it was."

Sarah wandered to another gate. Again, she expected resistance. Again, it opened effortlessly. One by one she discovered that every gate in the garden could be opened with a simple touch. None had ever been locked. Finally she returned to the tree.

    "I don't understand."

The tree's leaves whispered in the breeze.
"You believe many things are possible, but you don't believe they are possible for you."

Sarah lowered her eyes and the tree continued. "Your mind agrees with God's promises, but your heart stands outside the gate and assumes it's locked. What you saw a a lock was only the handle."

Sarah felt tears forming. The words struck closer than she wanted to admit. She remembered opportunities she never pursued. Prayers she never prayed. Dreams she never chased. Not because she thought they were impossible, but because she thought they were impossible for her. She had thought they were behind a 'locked gate'.

The tree gently shook its branches. A single golden fruit fell beside her feet.

"Tell me," asked the tree, "how many gifts has God prepared that people never receive because they never reach for them?"

Sarah picked up the fruit. The question lingered. How many times had she already decided the answer was no before ever asking? How many doors had she walked past because she assumed they would never open?

The tree spoke once more. "Faith is not only believing God is able. Faith is believing He wants to give God things to you."

Sarah looked around the garden. All the gates stood open. They always had. The only thing keeping her out had been the belief that she didn't belong there. She smiled and stepped through the nearest gate. For the first time in a long while, she wasn't just hoping. She was receiving.

    Seed from the Garden

Sometimes the greatest barrier isn't believing God can do something, it's believing He would want to do it for you.

We may know God's promises in our minds while our hearts quietly whisper, "Not for me." But God invites His children to come boldly before Him. Not because we deserve His favor, but because He loves us.

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." — Mark 11:24

"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." — Hebrews 4:16

Sometimes the gate isn't locked. Sometimes we simply need to reach for the handle.
