Power in the Blood of Jesus The phrase “the blood of Jesus” is not symbolic language alone—it is a central doctrine of Christianity. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture reveals that redemption, forgiveness, victory, and access to God are all anchored in the blood. “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…” — Revelation 12:11 1. The Blood of Jesus Brings Redemption Meaning: Redemption is the act of being bought back from bondage—sin, death, and Satan. “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins…” — Ephesians 1:7 Humanity was enslaved to sin (Romans 3:23) The price for sin is death (Romans 6:23) Jesus paid that price with His blood The blood is the divine currency that purchased your freedom. No human effort can replace it. 2. ESCAPING THE GRIP OF ADDICTION Romans 7:15–25, John 8:36, 1 Corinthians 10:13, Psalm 107:13–16 Addiction is a silent prison. It is a cycle that promises pleasure but delivers bondage. Many fight inward battles no one sees—drugs, alcohol, pornography, gambling, food, money, pride, anger, even social media. Addiction is simply anything you cannot stop, even when you want to. But God has a powerful plan for deliverance. No chain is too strong for Him to break, and no bondage is too deep for His grace to pull you out. 1. ADDICTION BEGINS WITH A STRONG DESIRE Romans 7:15 – “For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.” Paul describes the struggle of addiction. It begins as a desire, grows into a habit, and ends as a master. Addiction blinds the mind, weakens the will, and chains the soul. Truth: Everything you feed grows. Everything you starve dies. 2. ADDICTION IS A SPIRITUAL BONDAGE, NOT JUST A HABIT John 8:34 – “Whoever commits sin is the servant of sin.” Addiction is not merely a psychological problem; it is a spiritual captivity. Behind every recurring weakness is a spiritual force targeting your destiny. But the good news: John 8:36 – “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” Jesus is not afraid of your chains. He breaks them! 3. GOD PROVIDES A WAY OUT OF EVERY ADDICTIVE STRUGGLE 1 Corinthians 10:13 – “…God is faithful… but will with the temptation also make a way to escape.” Every addiction has an exit door. You may not see it, but God provides it. God’s escape plan includes: Confession – Admit the bondage before God. Accountability – Don’t fight alone. Scripture & Prayer – Spiritual chains require spiritual weapons. Discipline – Set boundaries that protect your freedom. 4. GOD SPECIALIZES IN BREAKING CHAINS Psalm 107:13–16 – “He brought them out of darkness… He broke their chains in pieces.” There is no addiction too strong for God. Whether 10 years, 20 years, or a lifetime, His power is greater. The same God who delivered: The demoniac of Gadara (Mark 5) Mary Magdalene (Luke 8:2) The Israelites from Egypt (Exodus 14) …can deliver you! 5. YOUR DELIVERANCE BEGINS WITH A CHOICE Freedom starts the moment you decide: “Enough is enough.” Like the prodigal son, you must come to yourself (Luke 15:17). God cannot force freedom on you—you must desire it. Steps to Walk in Freedom: * Repent sincerely before God * Renounce the addiction in prayer * Replace the habit with godly activities * Reconnect with a Bible-believing community * Remain grateful—thank God daily for progress * Deliverance is not just an event; it is also a daily walk. Addiction is real, but God’s deliverance is more real. You may feel weak, but God is strong. You may feel stuck, but God makes a way. You may feel ashamed, but God restores dignity. Jesus is calling you out of the pit and into freedom. Rise. Walk out. Your chains are broken in Jesus’ Name. PRAYER Father, in the Name of Jesus, break every chain of addiction in my life.
