• READ WITH ME – DAY 17

    Topic: Learning from Godly Parents

    Key Verse:
"My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother."
    — Proverbs 1:8

    Today's Reflection

One of God's greatest gifts to a child is the blessing of godly parents. Parents may not be perfect, but when they fear God and seek to raise their children according to His Word, their guidance can become a great source of wisdom.

The Bible encourages us to listen to the instruction of both our father and mother. Their correction, advice, discipline, prayers, and example can help prepare us for the future.

Sometimes, young people see correction as punishment or advice as interference. But godly parents correct because they care. They have experience that we may not yet have, and their desire should be to help us become the people God created us to be.

This does not mean every parent is perfect. Parents can make mistakes too. But instead of focusing only on their weaknesses, learn to appreciate the godly lessons and sacrifices they make for you.

If your parents are not yet walking with God, do not be discouraged. Pray for them, honour them, and continue to follow Christ. God can use your life as a light in your family.

    Today's Takeaway:
God often speaks words of wisdom through godly parents. A wise child listens, learns, and grows.

    Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the parents and guardians You have placed in my life. Help me to honour them, listen to godly instruction, and appreciate their sacrifices. Give me a humble heart that receives correction with wisdom. Bless my parents with strength, wisdom, and grace. In Jesus' name, Amen.

  • Listening is a financial skill.

Many costly mistakes happen because people rush into opportunities without fully understanding them.

Wise people ask questions before making commitments.

  • GOD IS WORKING BEHIND THE SCENES

    Anchor Scripture: Numbers 22.1-6 NKJV
[1] Then the children of Israel moved, and camped in the plains of Moab on the side of the Jordan across from Jericho. [2] Now Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites. [3] And Moab was exceedingly afraid of the people because they were many, and Moab was sick with dread because of the children of Israel. [4] So Moab said to the elders of Midian, “Now this company will lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.” And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time. [5] Then he sent messengers to Balaam the son of Beor at Pethor, which is near the River in the land of the sons of his people, to call him, saying: “Look, a people has come from Egypt. See, they cover the face of the earth, and are settling next to me! [6] Therefore please come at once, curse this people for me, for they are too mighty for me. Perhaps I shall be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land, for I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.”

    Further Study: Numbers 22, 23 and 24.

The Israelites have crossed from Egypt and are now on their way to the promised land and have fought some wars, which they won. Balam is summoned by Balak to curse the Israelites so that they would not win against the Moabites.

Scripture: Numbers 23.8 NKJV- Balaam first refuses to curse them but in Revelation 2.14 they show how he later made them break the hedge on their lives.

Most of the time, we miss the fact that when Moab, in relation to Balak's plot to destroy Israel, this information was not known to Israel. Just because they didn't know what Moab was planning doesn't mean there was no plot of evil against them.

There are many times God will fight for you even without you knowing that He is fighting for you. Many of us are misaligned with what God is doing behind the scenes. God is always working behind the scenes.

Scripture: 2 Kings 11.1-2 NKJV- A queen called Athaliah planned to kill the whole lineage of David. But Jehosheba hid one of the sons (Joash) of the king. God was working even then.

Most times we are spiritually immature to see what God is doing. 1 Corinthians 2.14 (AMP) teaches that carnality can disconnect a man from what God is doing. It takes a level of maturity to discern what God is doing.

Scripture: 2 Kings 6.12-17 NKJV- The chariot of fire was around Elisha and it only extended to the servant because of proximity. Sometimes you can be saved because of proximity to the anointed.

One of the most common forms of blindness is to the angels that are around us. None of us walks alone. Hebrews 1.14 tells us that angels are ministers to us.

Scripture: Hebrews 13.2 NKJV- Angels can come in the form of any man, and it is important to have discernment for them. They also desire to know the things we know (1 Peter 1.21).

Scripture: Psalms 91.11-12 NKJV- God works through the angels to keep us. The angels attend to even the slightest details of your life. In verse 12, the stones could mean small accidents that can lead to big disasters.

GOD IS WORKING BEHIND THE SCENES

Scripture: Isaiah 45.15 MSG- God never stops working, he is always working behind the scenes.

Scripture: John 5.17 AMP- God has never ceased working; He is still working. Situations we see should never make us think that God is not working. This is why we should always give thanks for even things that do not seem to be working.

    YOU ARE NOT ALONE

SOME TESTIMONIES WILL COME IN A MESS BUT REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE ON A JOURNEY

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4.16-17 MSG- Do not judge people because they look like a misfit, you might find that is the very mess God is working with.

When you connect to an altar and its spiritual heritage, God will do the same things working in the ministry in your life.

Practical wisdom to apply on this journey
    Trust God without presumption
Scripture: Proverbs 3.5 NKJV- Trust God with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. The things God will do may never be understood by the mind but by faith we understand. Learn to trust God.

️Disclaimer: Do not use this as a reason to be careless. There is a place for hard work and prudence.

Be obedient in the Little or small things.
Scripture: Luke 16.10 NKJV- Be faithful in the little.

Scripture: Micah 6.8 NLT- When God instructs you to do something do it.

Scripture: Proverbs 1.33 NKJV- Be obedient

Hidden help is often met by ordinary faithfulness.

Resist the spirit of anxiety and fatalism.
Scripture: Philippians 4.6 NKJV- Anxiety frustrates the work of God because it is a sign that you do not believe Him.

Fatalism is the belief that things are subject to fate and are inevitable to happen. To think that events were predetermined, cast in stone and never changeable. There are things that God decides but there are things not in the will of God.

Scripture: Jeremiah 29.11 KJV- God has no evil plan against you.

Learn to relate with God as your Father and understand there is no evil He would wish against His own children (Matthew 7.11). You will never build faith until you relate to God as your Father.

Scripture: Lamentations 3.33 MSG- God takes no pleasure in doing evil against you.

Do not entertain fatalism, God has good plans for you. The plans he has for you are for prosperity and not to harm you. When you know God's will about your destiny, affirm and speak those things on your life and refuse to feed thoughts of evil (Proverbs18.21).

Scripture: Proverbs 23.7 KJV- Your thoughts matter (2 Corinthians 10.6).

Fatalism states that it's the fate for all men to weaken as they age. The fallen world has it that men have to grow weak as they age but let God be true and every man a liar.

Scripture: Deuteronomy 33.25 NKJV- The longer you live the stronger you shall be.

Scripture: Deuteronomy 34.7 MSG- Moses was 120, but even his eyesight was still sharp.

Scripture: Psalms 103.5 NKJV- Refuse to confess weaknesses over your body.

Scripture: Isaiah 65.20 MSG/NKJV- We are entering a generation where a hundred years will be too young.

Scripture: Psalms 91.16 NKJV- Do not stake your life on those who went ahead of you.

Scripture: Psalms 90.12 NKJV- We can number our days.

Scripture: Proverbs 4.18 NKJV- The Scriptures have already told you what your future will be.

️Disclaimer: Do not confuse trust with the principles laid out in scripture to preserve you.

    Keep your spiritual eyes open
Scripture: Matthew 13.25 NKJV- Asleep here means closing eyes through intellectualism and teaching the law etc. We keep our eyes open through the word; be a consistent hearer of the word.
