• When the temperatures spike, our response must shift.

For most of us, a heatwave is an inconvenience—a reason to adjust the thermostat, complain about the humidity, and stay indoors. But for those living on the margins, extreme weather is a life-threatening crisis.

Catholic Social Teaching calls us to the Preferential Option for the Poor. This principle insists that the needs of the vulnerable must always come first. When the heat index rises, our moral obligation to our neighbors rises right along with it.

Proactive Relief as a Matter of Dignity
Responding to a heatwave isn't just about performing a nice act of charity; it is a fundamental recognition of human dignity. We cannot wait for the vulnerable to come to us seeking relief. We must go to them.

Providing proactive relief is how we declare that those suffering in the heat are seen, valued, and worthy of immediate care.

How to Take Action This Week:
Build Hot Weather Bags: Pack gallon Ziploc bags with cold water bottles, electrolyte packets, travel-sized sunscreen, lip balm, and cooling towels or hats.

Keep Them Ready: Store these bags in your car or by your front door so you are always equipped to hand them out to those on the streets.

Check the Margins: Look out for the unhoused, the elderly without proper AC, and those who labor outdoors in your immediate community.

A bottle of cold water handed through a car window in the suffocating heat of the day is more than just hydration. It is incarnational love in action. Let's make sure we are showing up for the most vulnerable among us.

  • you know what's frustrating......you pay thousands of dollars to have someone come install a brand new HVAC and ductwork system, only to have them install it and not adjust it.

For 2 years now I thought my HVAC system was installed incorrectly and that the installers, techs didn't know what they were doing. we kept running higher than normal humidity in the house and during the winter we had to keep the thermostat low because the heat would burn us up.

You know what the fix was??? the fan doors and thermostat placement. Crazy huh??

  • Day 1 – HIGH PRAISE IN THE HOUSE: Is your home filled with the sound of victory or the noise of worry?
A parent's praise is the thermostat of the home. When Jesus walked out of the grave, He unlocked a wellspring of joy that no circumstance can dry up. High praise isn’t just a response to a good day; it’s a declaration of who God is. As a parent, your atmosphere-shifting power is found in your song. When you lift your voice, you teach your children that their identity is rooted in a Kingdom that cannot be shaken. Thanksgiving is the entry point for the peace your family needs right now.
Psalm 150:6: Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!
Psalm 113:9: He settles the childless woman in her home as a joyful mother of children.
Psalm 100:4: Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and bless His name.
Reflect: Shake off the heaviness of the "to-do" list. You are a child of the King, and your house is a temple of the Most High. Physically walk through your home today and declare the goodness of God. As you lift Him up, watch how the shadows of stress flee!
Prayer: Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You that You are worthy of all my praise. I declare that my home is a sanctuary for Your Spirit. I reject the spirit of heaviness and I receive the garment of praise. Holy Spirit, empower me to lead my family in a rhythm of worship. Transform our atmosphere from stress to rest as we focus on Your greatness. I declare that my household is filled with the joy of the Lord! Amen.

  • Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.

Good morning from my She Shed. Yep, that’s right. I got up, grabbed my coffee, packed up my puter, put on shoes and hoodie, and headed for the She Shed. It is so quiet and beautiful out here. The other night I did some time out here in the sunset, and this morning I was blessed with His presence in the earlier hours. Not super early, after all, it is my day off. Haha.

A couple of years ago, friends asked me why I didn’t do videos. Honestly, I did not feel it was my gig. However, I did start making some here and there. Then I got a TikTok and still no posts, but I enjoyed the platform. As I close in on my retirement date, I have started making more videos. Mostly about peace. I have plugged in my books, my dog, and yesterday I posted my last ride with the post office (I carried a route for the last time…I think…haha). This morning I made a video of me reading from the Word, Ecclesiastes 3:1-14…A Time for Everything.

While reading this morning, the birds were singing, and the peace of the Lord fell upon me. There is a weed right out my window that is dancing in the light breeze. While I was reading, I would look up at the weed, and it reminded me of me. This time in my life is new and a bit unsettling. Most any change in today’s age is unsettling. However, I know that He has it. He is directing it. He is in control of it. And all I have to do is dance in His breeze,

Several of my friends are going through some unrelenting times and questioning everything. The fact that God brought this word to me today … A Time for Everything…well, it is just a short reminder that we are not alone. We are His children. He is our Father. And regardless of the bully’s antics and pressures to give up, He will not allow the bully to win. When we choose to not surrender … the bully turns up the heat, but our Father shows us where thermostat is.

How connected to the Father are you? Do you talk to Him every day? Are you seeking His face? Will the daily blessings that He provides catch your eye?
Take a moment today, read Ecc 3:1-14. Slowly embrace the words and the context. Submerge yourself in His confidence and peace. Plunge into his presence and hug Him close to your heart. We do not have to understand the immediate (why), we need only understand that there is a purpose and that He is in control.

    Be blessed.

**Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. –Proverbs 3:5-7

  • Good morning, friends!

It’s a chilly Wednesday, March 11th, here in Missouri. As I cozy up with a dark, deep, rich cup of coffee ️ and a toasted bagel slathered in hand-whipped real butter , I'm listening to the distant rumble of early thunderstorms. Be sure to grab an umbrella if you're heading out today!

As for the weather update, we're looking at highs in the low 60s today and lows dipping into the low 30s tonight. Just when you thought spring was around the corner, Mother Nature reminds us that she still controls the thermostat!

You know you’re from Missouri when you can spot “Party Cove” at Lake of the Ozarks — such a fun spot for boat gatherings and a lively atmosphere, especially during the annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout! Who else loves those summer days spent on the water?

In the spirit of reflection, I want to share a devotion that resonates deep within me today: Psalm 127:1-2 reminds us, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to those he loves.”

This scripture hits home, doesn’t it? We often hustle and toil, believing we are in control of our success and security. Yet, it’s a powerful reminder that true security and success are blessings from God. It’s okay to work hard, but let’s never forget who holds the real power in our lives!

And as we pause to reflect, let's also celebrate today’s special occasion—National Johnny Appleseed Day! Today we honor the legacy of John Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed, who introduced apple trees across the U.S. and played a vital role in shaping America’s agricultural landscape. It’s fascinating how his story has evolved into folklore but ultimately celebrates a real-life conservation hero!

To commemorate this day, let’s indulge in some delicious snacks—how about some slices of Honeycrisp apples? They’re sweet, crunchy, and juicy, perfect for a refreshing treat. And if you wanna elevate that experience, try them with some caramel dip. Who's ready to snack with me?

So let’s embrace this day with gratitude! Whether it's the weather, our beloved Missouri memories, or a reminder of God’s grace, there’s so much to appreciate. I’d love to hear what you all are up to today! What’s your favorite way to enjoy apples, or what’s your go-to snack at this springtime season? Let’s chat in the comments!

Remember, hold onto faith and warmth, even when the weather outside is chilly. Have a blessed day!

  • STOP LETTING OTHER PEOPLE DETERMINE YOUR WORSHIP!🗣 It does not matter if everyone else isn’t raising their hands, kneeling at the altar, or shouting with praise. YOU STILL CAN!Worshipping God in spirit and in truth is your born-again BIRTHRIGHT! You do NOT have to fit your adoration for Jesus into a cute little box. It can be radical. It can be exuberant. It can be loud. It can be quiet. It is between YOU AND GOD, not you and man!
Do not hold back because of the atmosphere you’re in. You’re called to be a thermostat, not a thermometer!🌡

When Pasig City was done I have thought & prayed for Quezon City as the next stage even though God used me from the past to preach His gospel back at Q-Mart, Murphy, Litex, Balintawak, & so on since lost souls are literally everywhere. The experience I gained of doing this over & over again is not new. But the spiritual warfare & all the difficulties with it will never get old!

The moment we become Christians by faith we face trials & temptations like never before! Obstacles that become more durable, problems turning to be more complex, & struggles harder to master. This is the introduction of spiritual warfare where saints face 3 kinds of enemies: world, flesh, & devils.

The first impression sounds dismaying & hopeless as believers inevitably faces these challenges. But since believers are pertained here, all receive God's promises of divine protection, the will to do good & Him forging it all the more, prayers for victory, walking with the Spirit to nullify the lusts of the flesh, driving out evil spirits in His name, & finally renewing our minds by beholding the presence of God in prayer & Scripture. It takes time to overcome & conquer sins by His grace especially the habitual, the feeble, & the favorites which may take months or years depending to ones reliability & trust to God while resisting, ignoring, & fleeing from sin. Eventually a time will come when the elect triumphs after years of loss & defeat, sweat & blood, it does not guarantee that you will remain in the state of triumph because spiritual warfare is perpetual until death or the Second Coming. Therefore there will be times where minutes or seasons have past, the enemy comes back time & time again tempting you to fall. Even so getting jacked up if the enemy sees you are growing & closer to God than aforetime.

Just because you have struggled & became victorious against worldly lusts or carnal wrath or occultic spirits for a season or years or decades does not mean you have truly defeated them. It simply means that you are living out the life of abundance & more while remembering every trial & temptation serves like a thermostat controlled by God never permitting it to go beyond as each Christian faces as God has promised! In the end... evil will meets its final demise by the One who forever wins & has never known loss!

  • Purpose in your heart, not to let, your 🏻cares and concerns determine the attitude of your atmosphere. Let your atmosphere affect those things you are dealing with and going through.
The fruit of the Spirit will be a great thermostat for your attitude and a perfect indication of your faithfulness and obedience to the Father.
