• Dear Father,

There’s a man in Scripture I love so much. The passage about him says, “Zacchaeus, who was the chief among the publicans, was rich. And he sought to see Jesus, who He was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was little of stature. So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him.”

I am particularly drawn to this scripture because it describes a relatable struggle in our faith walk. Zacchaeus, despite being rich, could not see Jesus because he was small in stature. I find myself pondering the many reasons that are, in fact, justifiable, yet limiting in our pursuit of You.

At times, it may seem impossible to balance the demands of the day with our scheduled time with You. And other times, it feels easier to rest on the thought that You understand, because You see how difficult things can get. But Zacchaeus did something notable--he climbed a tree to see Jesus.

I believe this speaks to how our walk with You may sometimes require us to seek creative ways to fellowship with You. I recall my brother once said, “Daily, fight to have a moment with God.”

Father, keeping our time with You may sometimes require a fight.
