    Walking in Unity

    By Rev. Moses Afolabi

How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!— Psalm 133:1

Unity is precious in the sight of God. Psalm 133:1 reminds us that peace, harmony, and togetherness bring beauty into our homes, churches, relationships, and communities. God never designed His people to live in bitterness, jealousy, division, or constant conflict. He calls us to walk together in love, humility, patience, and forgiveness. Where unity is present, the atmosphere becomes lighter, stronger, and more fruitful.

Walking in unity does not mean everyone will always think the same way or agree on everything. It means we choose love above pride, peace above argument, and understanding above offense. Unity requires maturity. It requires listening before judging, forgiving before bitterness grows, and praying for one another instead of tearing one another down. A united family, church, or community can overcome challenges that divided people cannot survive.

The enemy often uses small misunderstandings to create big separations, but God gives us grace to protect the bond of peace. When we humble ourselves and allow love to lead, healing begins. Unity invites God’s blessing because it reflects His heart. Just as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit work together in perfect agreement, God wants His children to walk in harmony and purpose.

Today, ask the Lord to make you a vessel of peace wherever you go. May your words heal and not wound. May your heart forgive quickly and love sincerely. May every spirit of division be removed from your family, ministry, and relationships. And may the beauty of unity bring joy, strength, and blessing into your life. Amen.

    Read; Romans 15:5-6

As we follow Jesus, God's Spirit brings us together. But unity serves a greater purpose than simply getting along with one another. Jesus prayed for unity so that the world would know that God sent Jesus as His Son (John 17). We want to be one so that our worship will bring God honor. Unity is more than just a goal; it is the process by which the world learns about Jesus. Simultaneously, we praise the Father for sending Jesus to save us. Living for Jesus is all about leading people to Jesus and honoring God! Make togetherness our obsession!

    Prayer
Great and Almighty God, You are the source of eternal strength for all who call on Your name. I'm sorry for everything I've done or said that has hurt others in Your family or torn apart the unity of Your Church, and I ask for Your forgiveness. Please bless my efforts as I try to do less of my own thing, live for Your glory, and help others. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.

  • Every Christmas Eve at exactly 3 p.m., millions of Swedes gather around their televisions to watch 'Kalle Anka och hans vänner önskar God Jul', 'Donald Duck and His Friends Wish You a Merry Christmas'. First aired in 1959, the program features classic Disney cartoons introduced by a Swedish narrator, and has remained virtually unchanged for over six decades. It’s not just a nostalgic ritual; it’s a national moment of pause. Streets empty, shops close early, and families time their dinners around the broadcast. For many, it marks the emotional start of Christmas.
The tradition began when Sweden’s public broadcaster SVT wanted to offer a cheerful holiday program during a time when television was still new and limited. The choice of Donald Duck, a character already beloved in Sweden, struck a chord. Over time, the broadcast became so culturally entrenched that even attempts to update or replace segments have sparked public outcry. The show’s enduring popularity is reflected in measurable national behavior: during the hour-long broadcast, mobile data usage drops by nearly a third, and emergency calls fall significantly, a rare moment of collective stillness in a digital age.
What makes this tradition remarkable isn’t just its longevity, but its emotional weight. For many Swedes, watching 'Kalle Anka' is a link to childhood, family, and continuity. It’s a shared experience that transcends generations, class, and even religion. In a country known for its secularism and modernity, this simple cartoon has become a sacred ritual, not because of its content, but because of the memories and togetherness it evokes. It’s proof that even the most unexpected cultural artifacts can become pillars of national identity.

Are people from other countries different from us? Do we not all mostly seek the same things? Christians, no matter where they are from, what they look like, what language they speak, how wealthy they are, or what gender they are, are together in Christ. We are all connected through him upon our baptism, with our belief, and in his love. Nothing is more sacred and beautiful than this togetherness and it is the foundation of the church.

    PRAYER
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! I ask that you help me remember these words, O Lord my God, and to not discriminate against another Christian or any person that seeks our wisdom and grace. Help us to all work together and create a world that is based on your teachings and love. We thank you for giving us a community to share and embrace you. Hosanna in the highest! Amen.
