Chapter 35 The Scarlet Beast
Adventists have believed that the Scarlet Beast of Revelation 17 is the Papacy, but there is a major problem with this interpretation. The woman dressed in scarlet is defined as Babylon by this passage
3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
It does not make sense to have both the beast and the woman sitting on it be the same symbol. The fact that she sits on the beast indicates that the beast supports her, so there is close collaboration between the woman and the beast.
When we understand that the seven heads of this beast are the seven consecutive popes since 1929 when the Vatican became independent from Italy (chapter 33), this passage leads us to what the beast is in verse 11:
11 And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.
Pope Francis was the pope that followed the seven since 1929. Since he was not one of the heads, but the beast itself, what was different about him? He was the first ever pope that was a Jesuit, suggesting that the Jesuit movement is the scarlet beast. Does this movement support the Papacy? Absolutely. The Jesuit order was brought into being by Ignatius Loyola with the sole purpose of returning to the Papacy what it had lost during the Reformation. The Papacy had enjoyed European domination, both religiously and politically during the Dark Ages, but the Reformation had brought an end to her religious domination with the advent of Protestantism. The Papacy lost its political power thereafter when Napoleon had the pope taken captive.
The Jesuits have an oath where they swear to suffer anything and everything, even death, with the sole purpose of restoring the Papacy to its former glory. When Protestants fled Europe because of persecution the Jesuits sought to follow and infiltrate their systems and churches, influencing them on every level. They instigated the wars that the USA were involved in beginning with the War of Independence (1775 – 1783) and the Civil War (1861 – 1865). The Jesuits were also behind the two World Wars and the proxy wars that the USA were involved with since the 20th century. The Jesuits have infiltrated the USA government, all the major Protestant churches and corporations. They also control governments in Europe and many other countries throughout the World. The Adventist Church is not immune to their infiltration. The previous GC president, Ted Wilson, was trained at a Jesuit university. Jan Paulsen, the preceding GC president was also trained at a Jesuit university. Pope Francis was one of his teachers (before he became pope). Emmanuel Macron and Justin Trudeau have associations with the Jesuits, and Donald Trump was educated at the same Jesuit University that Ted Wilson was – Fordham.
They also created new doctrines to further their cause. Their biggest issue after the Reformation was to clear the Papacy from the concept that it is the beast of Revelation. Protestant leaders had conjured that up from Scripture. The most famous doctrine they developed is the Secret Rapture which has to precede the revelation of the beast. Most of Christianity today is waiting for the Secret Rapture to take place, any day now.
The aim of the Jesuits was to neutralize Protestantism, and they have certainly succeeded. Today, 500 years later, Protestant churches are apologising for the Reformation, and there is a great Ecumenical movement, unifying all Christian churches.
Not only the woman, but the beast also has blasphemous names:

The name “Jesuit” is derived from Jesus, because they are also known as the Society of Jesus. They are far from being Christ-like and are treacherous, ruthless and cruel.
I thought that pope Francis would be alive at the Second Advent because the beast is the last king. Then, when he died, I thought that from now on all the popes will be Jesuits to keep the beast as the eighth king. Pope Leo XIV has been elected and he is not a Jesuit. Does that mean this interpretation of the seven heads is wrong? I don’t believe so. Let us elaborate: First of all, St Malachy predicted that Pope Francis was the last pope, and would be the church leader at the Second Advent. Could it be that that was in God’s plan as well, but that the sealing of the 144 000, and thus the Second Advent, was postponed because the 144 000 were not ready at the determined time to be sealed?
Rev 7:3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
Then there is the issue of Pope Francis’ premature death. There is indication that he was discharged from hospital too soon by a physician that was adamant that he should go home in spite of the objections of other hospital staff. He could have recovered completely, had he been allowed to stay in the hospital another week. Another story that begs for verification is that the Pope was murdered for digging into financial corruption and political power play within the Vatican (

Revelation lets us learn who the seven heads and the scarlet beast are. Does it say the eight kings are the last popes of Catholicism? No it does not. We have identified the heads of the scarlet beast and those of the dragon and the leopard beast. They have played their role, and the church goes on. On to where?
Pope Leo XIV is therefore the nineth head that prophecy does not speak about – not the heads and the beast prophecy. However, Revelation in another prophecy in other places does talk about the unification of Catholicism and Protestantism. Apostate Protestantism is symbolised by the Image of the Beast, represented by the USA as the leading Protestant nation. Pope Leo XIV is an American, so the significance of the nineth head is that it represents this unification. We will elaborate on the Image of the Beast in a later chapter.
We are certainly living in interesting times where the balance of power of the world is in flux. It is a time of strange and new alliances. We have now moved on from the prophecies of seven heads and the scarlet beast. The scarlet beast is not dead though, and we are bound to meet up with it again before the Second Advent.
