The Sadducees were educated and religious, yet they missed the deeper meaning of God’s Word because their hearts and understanding were limited. Jesus teaches that Scripture and the power of God must remain connected. Knowing Scripture without faith in God’s power leads to dry religion. Seeking spiritual experiences without grounding in Scripture leads to error. True spiritual understanding grows when both are embraced together. Many follow fake religion, where there is no real change of heart. Paul also warned that false teachers would take advantage of people who don’t know the truth well.
