  • Good evening to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.

Catawampus. That is my word of the day. Catawampus. It is a beautifully weird word that can be used in a myriad of ways to describe the perfect blend of chaos and dumbness in any given situation. The definition actually is: going badly, awkwardly, or in the wrong direction. Most Mondays are, by definition, catawampus. As you read from last night’s post, mine was extremely catawampus. Today tried to slide sideways but quickly smoothed out.

Another vibrant way to describe something going haywire is “off-kilter”. The actual definition of this word is: out of balance.

So, if your catawampus is off-kilter … is that good or bad?

The purpose of this paper today is to make you laugh with the playfulness of words. We make up words every day depending on how our brains and mouths communicate. Sometimes real words come out; sometimes weird syllables that formulate a weird concoction of letters into a word come out. Most of those situations result in gut-filled laughter and a sense of relief because of the guffaw.

What if we approached our off-kilter moments in life in the same manner? Throwing off the stress of the catawampus event and finding the hilarity in the guffaw. If we look, most any stressful situation can find some humor or light, even if it is deemed ‘inappropriate’. Such as, a friend of mine had a falling-out with their dad. They got sick, and when asked if the dad had been notified, I was promptly told no. For whatever the reason, I simply stated that had they called the dad, my friend may have just died on the table, to prove the point that they did not want to speak to him. Dark humor, yes. Somewhat funny in the moment, yes. Appropriate, not really. However, the levity of looking at something bad in a light that can bring a smile … totally worth it.

A business deal is heating up. Everyone involved is losing patience. Someone sneezes softly. Another person belts out, “No need to bring in biological warfare.” Inappropriate, yes. Funny, yes.

Mowing the yard with my borrowed mower, I missed a stump. Yes, a stump. Did not know or see it there. When the mower locked up and stopped mowing, instantly I saw my retirement check fly out the window. This mower was in my care; I was not careful enough, and instant panic set in … when explaining to the owner, he laughed and said he would like small bills. (FYI the mower was fixable)

There are going to be times in life when the situation or circumstance is not good. It is the habit that we have formed to always go dark and negative. That is fine if you only stay there for the moment, but immediately you should be searching for the bright side, the humor, the sarcastic satire. Something that shows you, in your heart, that God is in control and it will all work itself out.

Catawampus and off-kilter moments are a part of life. Do not allow them to remain permanent residents in your lane; find that inappropriate giggle line, and give it back to God. You will find that it helps alleviate your stress level and replace it with His love.

    Be blessed.

**Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. – Colossians 3:2

    The Benefit of Curiosity
"The queen of Sheba heard of Solomon's fame, and she travelled to Jerusalem to test him with difficult questions." 1 Kings 10:1 (GNB)

The queen of Sheba came to Solomon to hear his wisdom, thereby to improve her own. She was curious when she heard of the fame of Solomon. Creativity is always born out of curiosity. Curiosity is a holy pursuit that transforms a stagnant faith into an active journey. It moves a person past routine compliance and into a vibrant, deeper relationship with God.

Curiosity means being adventurous, living your life outside of the box; not being satisfied with things as they are, but eager to enter true reality. It demands high level of sensitivity and alertness. It is a constant journey of discovery that triggers a new desire for greater accomplishment. Get more curious and you get more creative making you highly productive and a celebrated highflyer! This is your day.

Wisdom Fountain: “The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existence”
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray for a fresh, holy curiosity about the life assignment You have designed specifically for me. I receive freedom from routine, a curious mind that is eager to learn, and the humility to ask honest questions. Help me seek understanding like hidden treasure every single day in Jesus’ name.

  • *The Sweetness of Patience - Watch & Wait*

Have you ever plucked fruit prematurely?
Perhaps you were drawn in by its vibrant color or sweet scent moving through the air. But when you took the first bite, you realized it lacked the ripeness you anticipated. Everything seemed right at first glance, but there was one missing ingredient…

    Time.
Even the simple act of picking fruit can teach us about time and patience:
*"Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You, too, be patient and stand firm because the Lord's coming is near." James 5:7-8*
The author, James, penned these words under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to a community of new Jewish converts to Christianity, dispersed throughout various regions. These early Christians faced many trials, including persecution and opposition, because of their newfound faith. James’ call to wait patiently and enduring was more than mere words on a page; they were a lifeline of hope and encouragement in the midst of adversity.

And just as those early believers confronted trials, we, too, will encounter challenges and suffering in our Christian journey. And, just like those early believers, we can choose patience—allowing the fruit of the Spirit to ripen within us, no matter the season of life. And when we do, our character will mature, our faith will deepen, and our relationship with God will become sweeter than we could imagine.

Patience always bears the fruit of perseverance and strength, even today and even for us!

    *Prayer Of Surrendering*
Everlasting Father, You are the perfect example of patience and Grace. Thank You for being patient with us! We know there are specific areas of our lives where we need to develop more patience—we surrender those areas to You, and asking for Your help. Fill us with hope and wisdom to trust You, especially during challenging times. In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
    *Blessed Shabbat!*

  • DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 214
    DATE: 2ND AUGUST 2026
TOPIC: IGNITING THE FIRE (Part 4)
    ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: PROVERBS 27:17 (NKJV)
"As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend."
    Devotional message:

Yesterday, we saw that the Word of God is the fuel that keeps the fire burning on the altar. Today, we consider another vital key to igniting, receiving, and sustaining spiritual fire—fellowshipping with men and women who are burning for God.

The people we surround ourselves with greatly influence our spiritual lives. Scripture declares that "iron sharpens iron." If you desire to grow spiritually, one of the wisest decisions you can make is to fellowship with believers who are passionate about God. Their hunger for prayer, love for God's Word, devotion to holiness, and pursuit of intimacy with Christ will inspire and strengthen your own walk with the Lord.

Perhaps your prayer altar has grown cold, or you find it difficult to study the Scriptures or maintain a consistent fasting life. Do not remain isolated. Position yourself among believers who are genuinely on fire for God. As you pray with them, worship with them, study the Word together, and learn from their example, your own spiritual fire will be rekindled. God often uses the fellowship of believers to stir, encourage, and strengthen His people.

We see this pattern throughout Scripture. The mighty men who gathered around David were transformed into courageous and valiant warriors. Likewise, the early Church devoted themselves continually to the apostles' teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayers. As a result, they remained spiritually vibrant, and God worked powerfully among them (Acts 2:42–47).

Child of God, never underestimate the value of godly fellowship. Avoid isolation and seek the company of those who will encourage your faith and challenge you to pursue Christ more deeply. As you continually fellowship with believers who burn for God, your passion for prayer, the Word, holiness, righteousness, and intimacy with Christ will continue to grow.

Godly fellowship sharpens, strengthens, and rekindles spiritual fire. Walking with those who burn for God helps us remain fervent in our devotion to Christ.

    *Prayer:*

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of fellowship with other believers. Surround me with men and women who love You sincerely and whose lives inspire me to pursue You more deeply. Help me to encourage others as they encourage me, and let our fellowship stir a greater passion for prayer, Your Word, holiness, and intimacy with You. Keep my spiritual fire burning for Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.

  • DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 213
    DATE: 1ST AUGUST 2026
TOPIC: IGNITING THE FIRE (Part 3)
    ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: PSALMS 119:11 (NKJV)
"Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You."
    Devotional message:

Yesterday, we saw that God commands the fire on the altar to burn continually and that a consistent prayer life is essential to keeping that fire alive. Today, we look at another vital key to sustaining spiritual fire—the Word of God.

A fire cannot continue burning without fuel. Just as natural fire requires dry wood, spiritual fire requires the continual supply of God's Word. Prayer and the Word work together. Prayer draws us into God's presence, while His Word nourishes, strengthens, and fuels the fire within us. Without a steady intake of Scripture, our spiritual fervency gradually declines.

However, reading the Bible alone is not enough. We must meditate on the Word, ponder it, and allow it to dwell richly in our hearts. Joshua was instructed to meditate on God's Word day and night, and the result would be prosperity and success (Joshua 1:8). Likewise, when we hide God's Word in our hearts, it transforms our thinking, renews our minds, and empowers us to live in obedience to Him.

In Acts 28, the Apostle Paul placed a bundle of wood on the fire, and because the fire was burning intensely, a viper hidden in the wood came out. Spiritually, as we continually feed on God's Word and keep the fire of the Holy Spirit burning, the hidden works of the flesh are exposed. Jealousy, bitterness, envy, malice, pride, unforgiveness, and every other sinful attitude cannot remain concealed in a heart that is continually being purified by the fire of God's presence and the truth of His Word.

Child of God, make it your daily practice to study, meditate on, and obey the Scriptures. Let the Word of Christ dwell richly within you. As you continually feed your spirit with God's Word, your fire will remain strong, your faith will grow, and your life will increasingly reflect the character of Jesus Christ.

The Word of God is the fuel that sustains spiritual fire. A believer who continually feeds on God's Word will remain spiritually vibrant and fruitful.

    Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your living Word. Create in me a hunger to study, meditate on, and obey Your Word every day. Let Your truth dwell richly in my heart and continually fuel the fire of the Holy Spirit within me. Purge every work of the flesh from my life, and transform me into the image of Christ. In Jesus' name, Amen.
