THE PILGRIMS GUIDE WEDNESDAY AUGUST 19, 2026 THE PEACE OF GOD A WORD FROM THE WORD: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:27 NIV. The peace that the LORD Jesus speaks about here in our anchor Scripture above ideates, but not just the absence of conflict; more than that, it includes the presence of divine assurance, wholeness, and tranquility that transcends situations and circumstances. In the world system, peace is often conditional on favourable circumstances, but the peace God gives is unshakable and independent of what is happening around you. The LORD Jesus promises to leave His peace with us; that is a peace that calms the storm within, even when the storm rages without. This peace guards the hearts and minds of the believing child of God, protecting him from every aspect of anxieties, fears, and overwhelming worries. It’s a peace that provides stability to the emotions and strengthens the believer's trust in God. The world is almost filled with people who search for peace from external sources like wealth, relationships, or success; but true peace is found in God through the LORD Jesus Christ alone. When your heart is stayed and securely anchored in His presence, external disturbances and seeming upheavals cannot take away the inner peace that comes from His abiding presence within. Embrace God’s peace today, knowing it is the inheritance of those who trust in Him. As you move through today, let God’s peace rule in your heart, and trust that He is in control; and His peace will sustain you in every situation and circumstance. Sermon Title: "RIGHT GIVING IN A WRONG SEASON" Key Texts: 2 Corinthians 9:7, Malachi 3:8-10, Matthew 6:33, Hebrews 12:1-2, Psalm 51:17 INTRODUCTION Beloved, we are in the last days. Times of hardship. Times where many are pressed on every side. And in these days, giving has become godly for some... and desperate for others. God loves a cheerful giver. But the enemy has twisted giving into a trap for the wounded. Today God is calling us back: Look to God first, not to giving as a formula. 1. GIVING IS GODLY, BUT MOTIVE MATTERS 2 Corinthians 9:7 — “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” Giving is worship. It is obedience. It is sowing. But in this last age, error has entered. Many are giving not out of faith, but out of fear and desperation. "If I give this, then God must heal me. Then God must pay my rent." That’s not covenant. That’s bargaining. And when we bargain with God, we leave ourselves ungodly and still desperate because our eyes are on the gift, not the Giver. Isaiah 1:11 — “What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the Lord.” God wants the heart before the hand. 2. THE REAL NEED: REPENTANCE AND RELATIONSHIP Your message says it: “Look to God in repentance, obedience of God's word and be right before God.” Hardship will come. 2 Timothy 3:1 — “in the last days there will come times of difficulty.” But the answer is not just to give more. The answer is to return to God. Joel 2:12-13 — “Return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” God’s priority is not your offering. It’s you. When you are right with God, He heals both: Physical wounds: Psalm 147:3 — “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Spiritual wounds: Psalm 51:17 — “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” 3. THE DANGER: USING GOD FOR THE GIFT You said: “Unfortunately receivers of what they give. Ain't looking to this but after their more giving in. Leaving them ungodly before and desperate in life.” This is the trap. Using God like an ATM. Acts 8:20 — Peter told Simon, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!” When we chase the blessing more than the Blesser, we stay in cycles: Desperation → Give No instant result → More desperation → Give more We become tired, bitter, and far from God. Jesus warned us: Matthew 6:33 — “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” 4. GOD’S WAY: HEAL FIRST, THEN GIVE FROM WHOLENESS God is not against your giving. He is for your healing. Hebrews 12:1-2 — “Let us lay aside every weight... and run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus.” God’s order: Repentance - Turn from sin and self-reliance Obedience - Walk in His Word daily Relationship - Seek His face, not just His hand Giving - Now give from a place of faith and joy, not fear When you do this, God restores. Malachi 3:10 — “Bring the full tithe... and thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you.” But notice: the tithe comes after “Return to me” in verse 7. CLOSING CALL + PRAYER Church, don’t let hardship push you into error. Don’t give to manipulate God. Give because you love Him. If you’ve been giving out of desperation, today is the day to return. Prayer: Father, heal us. Heal our finances, but more than that, heal our hearts. Forgive us for making giving a transaction

Daily devotion for August 17th The Way Of Health They found written in the Law, which the LORD had commanded through Moses, that the Israelites were to live in booths during the feast of the seventh month. Nehemiah 8:14 The way of health is dramatically demonstrated for us in the closing verses of this chapter. God had anticipated the needs of these people. Centuries before, He had provided a most remarkable visual aid to remind them of the truth that would keep them from further destruction. This is the Feast of Tabernacles, a reminder that they were called as a people out of Egypt. Their departure was sudden and precipitous. They were not even to sit down when they ate the Passover meal. They had to eat it standing, with their staffs in their hands, dressed in traveling clothes, ready to leave. They went out at a word of command and left Egypt in one night. When they got into the desert, one day's journey out, and night fell, where were they to find shelter? Moses had been told by God that they were to collect boughs and tree limbs and build booths for shelter. Then God ordained that they were to do this once every year. Even though later they had homes to dwell in, they were to build these booths and live in them for seven days. This was to teach them that they were always pilgrims and strangers on the earth. This world was not their home. All the great blessings of life would not necessarily be found in this present time but were waiting for them in glory. Therefore, they did not need to be distressed if they did not have everything that those around them were trying to get in this life. That is the truth that will deliver us from the pressures of the times. We must hold things lightly. We must not think that houses, cars, money, and material gain are all that important. Even if we lack these things, the great treasures of our life remain untouched. To strive constantly to gain what everyone else has is a mistake. God teaches us to hold these things lightly. We must never forget that we are in the world but not of it. We are never to settle down here for good. I love the way C. S. Lewis has put it: Our kind heavenly Father has provided many wonderful inns for us along our journey, but he takes special care to see that we never mistake any of them for home. We are pilgrims and strangers, passing through this world. We are involved in it, deeply sometimes, but we are never to see ourselves as a part of it. What will enable us to remember that? Verse 18 gives us the answer. Every day they read the Scripture. Every day they saturated themselves in the thinking of God. That is what makes for realism: When you think like God thinks, you are thinking realistically. You are beginning to see yourself the way you really are. You are seeing your children, your home, and your nation the way they really are. For the first time you are able to divest yourself of the illusions and delusions of a mistaken, confused world. You are beginning to work toward wholeness, healing, and strengthening of the things that abide. What a wonderful picture this is, Lord, of the fact that I am a stranger on this earth. Far too often I have lived as if this were my home. Renew my mind with Your truth that there is so much more to live for than what this world offers.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3 Healing is often understood as simply recovering from pain. But perhaps healing can mean something more. What if the wounds we carry can become the soil from which something new begins to grow? This question has been central to my work on **Neuro Emotional Bloom Theory (NEBT)** and **Inner Bloom Therapy (IBT)**. NEBT explores how emotional experiences can influence the brain, our inner patterns, and our capacity for change. It looks beyond merely reducing emotional distress and asks how human beings can move from suffering toward **emotional integration, meaning, resilience, and growth**. IBT builds on this understanding by offering a therapeutic pathway for that transformation — helping individuals become more aware of their emotions, let go of limiting patterns, open themselves to new possibilities, and move toward greater wholeness. In this sense, healing is not always about erasing the wounds. Sometimes, it is about allowing something new to **bloom through them**. 🌱 **Suffering as Soil. Healing as Transformation. Before you love anyone else, build a life you love. A woman complete in God doesn't search for someone to fill her — she overflows. THE TRUTH NO ONE TELLS YOU God never designed a woman to be half of something. He designed her to be whole — rooted, purposeful, and radiant — before any relationship ever enters the picture. The world whispers that a woman's story begins when she finds love. But Scripture tells a different story: she is already loved, already chosen, already enough. When a woman builds her own world first — her faith, her calling, her joy, her peace — she enters every relationship from a place of strength, not need. She doesn't cling. She doesn't shrink. She doesn't lose herself. She brings her full self to the table. "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future." — Proverbs 31:25 That woman isn't laughing because she has the perfect relationship. She's laughing because she knows who she is, and she knows whose she is. WHAT IT MEANS TO HAVE YOUR OWN WORLD A living faith — her identity is anchored in God, not in another person's opinion of her. A growing purpose — she knows what she is building: her gifts, her work, her mission. A nourished soul — she invests in friendships, rest, and the things that bring her alive. A clear direction — she makes decisions rooted in her values, not in fear of being alone. REAL WOMEN WHO BUILT THEIR WORLD FIRST Ruth — the woman who chose purpose over panic After losing her husband, Ruth could have gone back to her hometown, found another man quickly, and rebuilt her life around someone else. Instead, she chose loyalty, hard work, and integrity. She gleaned in the fields. She served her mother-in-law. She built a life of faithfulness day by day. Her wholeness attracted Boaz — he noticed her character long before he pursued her. She didn't chase love. Love found a woman who was already walking in purpose. Esther — the woman who knew who she was before her moment came Esther didn't become courageous the moment she was needed. She had spent years cultivating grace, wisdom, and a quiet strength that couldn't be manufactured under pressure. When the king held out his scepter, she was ready — not because she was in the right relationship, but because she had built the right character. She walked into the throne room alone and changed a nation. Mary — the woman content in ordinary faithfulness Before the angel appeared, Mary was simply a young woman living faithfully in Nazareth. No spotlight. No platform. Just quiet devotion and a willing heart. She wasn't waiting to be chosen to start living — she was already living well. Because she had cultivated a surrendered, rooted spirit, she could carry the weight of an extraordinary calling. WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE TODAY It looks like the woman who builds her career not to avoid loneliness, but because she genuinely loves what she does. It looks like the woman who travels, reads, creates, serves — and finds deep joy in it, whether anyone is watching or not. It looks like saying no to a relationship that would require her to become smaller. It looks like being genuinely happy at her own table, comfortable in her own company, at peace in her own silence. And when love comes — if it comes — it adds to a life that is already full. It doesn't complete her. It companions her. "God is within her, she will not fall." — Psalm 46:5 A woman who walks with God doesn't need someone else to hold her up. She is already held. So build your world, beloved. Tend your faith. Pursue your calling. Fill your life with meaning, with beauty, with good people and good work. Walk alone with your head high, and walk with someone with your soul intact. (4)" '…Stephen, a man full of faith…’  Acts 6:5 NIV ANOTHER QUALITY that opened the door to leadership in the church for Stephen was: faith. Oswald Chambers said, ‘Faith that is sure of God is the only kind of faith there is.’ When drought hit some farming communities, faith made a little girl take her umbrella to a prayer meeting called especially to pray for rain, while all the grown-ups wore sunglasses. Faith isn’t just what you say, it’s what you do. And it’s not just about what you can do, but what you can trust God to do. When it comes to faith, you must: 1) feed your faith. The Bible is faith food. ‘…Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God’ (Romans 10:17). Note the word ‘hearing’. When you read God’s Word out loud, it enters your spirit through both the eye-gate and ear-gate, doubling its impact. 2) protect your faith. When terrorists attack, they have more in mind than just blowing up a few buildings and killing some people. Their goal is to strike fear into your heart and cause you to capitulate. Jesus warned Peter that his faith was about to come under attack (Luke 22:31-32 NKJV). It’s not just your finances or your health or your relationships that are under attack; it’s your faith! 3) Use your faith. Faith is like money; it’s the currency of God’s kingdom. You must have it in order to do business with God. When Christ encountered someone who demonstrated real faith, He was ecstatic. And He always responded to them. These offerings were important for maintaining a harmonious relationship between an individual and God. Specifically, the passage outlines which parts of the animal are to be removed and offered to the Lord. It also gives us the role of the priests in the exercise. The kidneys and the fat signify the best portions of the sacrifice, which were to be dedicated to God. This act of offering the choicest parts is a form of worship and reverence, recognising God's supreme authority and generosity.* *From that context, it is clear that such offerings were to be made accurately and respectfully. The focal point of burning these parts was to create a "sweet savour unto the LORD," signifying that the offering was pleasing and acceptable to Him. The prescribed portions for the peace offerings highlight the significance of giving God the best, demonstrating the importance of sacrifice, and dedication in worship.* *However while the Old Testament gives us the details of how to make acceptable blood sacrifices, Jesus Christ, in the New Testament, offered up Himself as the Lamb of God who took away our sins on the cross at Calvary. "For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us" (Ephesians 2:14). With Jesus as our peace, we need not kill any animal to make peace for our iniquities, but only embrace Him wholeheartedly. It might also arise from poor performance because of poor preparation. Achan, Judas Iscariot and Herod probably wished they had made different choices. Avoid eternal pain and regret. The same with families, communities and individuals. Where there is no peace, the world will not even be as habitable as the animal kingdom. A relationship that is void of peace will produce bitterness and wormwood rather than joy or happiness. Peace is multidimensional starting with an individual person's peace which is the most important and the first thing Jesus gives those who come to Him. Then there is peace between man and God which goes simultaneously with true personal and individual peace. Lastly, we talk of peace between fellow human beings. This is the main reason why Jesus, the Prince of peace, came to pay the ultimate price to reconcile man with God. This subject is therefore, very important to God and must be important to anyone that desires to walk with God and work for God. The text gives us some valuable information on this all important subject of peace. *1. The Price of Peace* a. The price of peace is not cheap as we could notice from what must be sacrificed in the peace offerings offered to God. Anyone who desires to enjoy peace on a platter of gold may be living in the fool's paradise. There is a price to pay. The two kidneys and the fat must be removed from the animal sacrifice and burn as an offering to God on the altar while the remaining animal can be eaten as they wanted. *"And the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away"*. Kidneys are vital organs in the body. When the kidneys are defective or dead, the person is as good as dead. This vital organ is what God demanded for Himself as His own portion of the peace offerings. The fat of the animal gives aroma to the meat and makes it pleasant to eat. Fat is one of the most precious parts of the animal. It is the energy repository of the animal. It is instructive enough that God also reserved the fat to Himself, indirectly showing that consuming too much of fat is not good for human health as shown by modern scientific discovery. *"And the priest shall burn it upon the altar: it is the food of the offering made by fire unto the LORD"*. The kidneys and the fat were burnt for God while the remaining belong to man. b. God demands the best for Himself just as the kidneys and the fat are vital parts of the animal. Man, with due respect to God, must give God the best time or hours for fellowship with Him and for devotion with God. The best of man is the heart and so the heart should be given to God. Just as God asked for the kidneys, God is asking man, *"give me your heart"*. The best of man's possessions and treasures should be given to God. Just like the popular hymn says, *"Give of Your Best to the Master".* *Question* Do you give of your best to the Master in every area? *2. The Personification of Peace* a. Jesus is our peace offerings and that is the best the Father can give to us. God sacrificed His only begotten Son for the world that is totally void of true peace. Jesus offered Himself to the Lord for our peace. *"And if his offering be a goat, then he shall offer it before the LORD"*. We also must be willing to offer our best that is possible and available for peace. *"For he (Jesus) is our peace (offerings), who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us"*. The wall of partition between the Jews and the Gentiles was broken down by Christ so that there would not be enmity between the Jews and the Gentiles any longer. Also, the enmity between God and sinners has been destroyed by the offering up of the living body of Christ. The sinful man can now repent and come into direct fellowship with God. *"Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace"*. This peace offering of Christ makes reconciliation with God an experiential reality. *"And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby"*. Jesus did not only yield His precious body as an offering for sin, His messages are centred on peace. *"And came and preached peace to you..."* (Ephesians 2:14-17). b. Though the sacrifice is already done by Christ, man has his own part to play. The sinful man, through the priest, must *"lay his hand upon the head of it, and kill it before the tabernacle of the congregation: and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle the blood thereof upon the altar round about"*. The sinner must identify with the sacrifice for the transaction of peace to be perfected and effectual. In order to enjoy the peace of God, the sinner must identify with the sacrifice of Christ by accepting it by faith and petition His blood to produce peace in the heart and peace with God. *Question* Have you identified with the sacrifice of Jesus Christ by faith in Him? *3. The Pathway to Peace* a. The peace that God first gives is the peace with God which simultaneously results in the release of peace of Christ in the heart. Without peace of Christ in the heart, all other types of peace become elusive. *"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ"*. The offended God forgives our sins and becomes our loving Father after repentance from sin through faith in the atoning sacrifice of peace offering of Christ. All efforts of man to bring peace to the world, families and relationships without first experiencing the peace of Christ in the heart will not yield a lasting and enduring peace. b. Just as Jesus paid a heavy sacrifice for peace, believers in Christ must be willing to pay the price of humility, forgiveness, longsuffering and forbearance among others, so as to enjoy peace with our relations and neighbours. This peace must be pursued at all times because without it there is no heaven. It must also be preached and encouraged among people because *"Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God"* (Matthew 5:9). It is the possession of peace and grace to make peace with others that distinguishes a true child of God as genuine. No price is too high for peace. The problem of the nations is that the nations are being ruled by people who have not experienced the peace of God in their hearts. *Prayer Points* 1.Give praises to Jesus Christ for paying the ultimate price for our peace 🙏. 2.Ask for the peace of God to reign supreme in your heart and to pay any scriptural and needful price to make peace with anyone that you are not at peace with you 🙏. 3.Promise God that you will be committed to the ministry of making peace between sinner and God and fellow man to fellow man. Ask for the grace and the heart to always give your best to the Master 🙏. 4.Pray for where you know that peace is lacking and that the peace of Christ will be embraced and allowed to reign 🙏. *HYMN:* When peace like a river *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* EXODUS 1-4. 2. Help us live victoriously today, not letting our cares and trials get the best of us, but keeping Your praise in our hearts even in the darkest times and toughest challenges. Breathe Your Spirit into our souls this morning so that we can go out and live with cheerfulness all day. Don’t let the hard things discourage us or take the joy out of our hearts and the brightness out of our faces. We thank You that You’ve promised to give us what we need. We know that while You are always with us, You come even closer to us when we’re in trouble; that while You always give us strength, You give us even more when we’re feeling weak. Come to us today in exactly the way we need. Sometimes we get discouraged and frustrated. Keep us today from falling into these negative moods. Help us live among our neighbors in such a way that they see that we have God helping us. Keep us from worry and anxiety. Teach us to cast all our cares on Jesus, who cares for us. May we trust You so completely that no matter what happens, we can be happy and strong in You. We pray for everyone in our home. Prepare us for all the duties, tasks, and responsibilities of the day. Keep us safe from accidents and bring us back together again in the evening. We ask all these things, along with the forgiveness of our sins, in the Savior’s precious name.
