  • I've been thinking lately about how easily we worry about what we have, what we might lose, and whether we have enough to give.

But today's verse reminds us that giving isn't just about money.

Kindness comes in many forms. Your time, your attention, a listening ear, a word of encouragement, or simply sitting with someone who feels forgotten. These are all gifts.

God says that when we're kind to the poor, it's like lending to Him—and He doesn't just repay us, He rewards us. What an incredible promise.

So don't focus on the reward. Focus on being obedient.

Here's today's challenge: What do you already have that you can give?

Ask the Holy Spirit to show you. If He prompts you to give something, don't fear the loss. Trust the One who owns everything and rewards those who walk in obedience.

Father, thank You for all that You've given me. Open my eyes to what I already have that I can give. Remove every fear of loss and teach me to be a cheerful, generous giver who trusts You completely. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

    Be Kind

    Kindness begins
    when another person's needs
    matter to us.

    Chiara Lubich described kindness
    as something far deeper
    than being pleasant.

    "Kindness is more
    than being pleasant.

    It means making room
    for another person's joys,
    struggles, needs,
    and concerns."

    Making room.

    That phrase carries
    more weight
    than it first appears to.

    Because making room
    requires that we first
    empty something β€”

    our own preoccupation,
    our own schedule,
    our own internal monologue β€”

    just long enough
    to actually notice
    someone else.

    "When we stop focusing
    on ourselves for a moment,

    we become better able
    to understand
    what others are carrying."

    This is the quiet,
    unglamorous discipline
at the centre of real kindness.

    Not grand gestures.

    Not performances of generosity
    meant to be seen.

    Simply β€” stopping.

    Long enough to notice
    what someone else
    is carrying.

    "Real kindness listens
    before it speaks

    and cares
    before it judges."

    How often do we do
    the opposite?

    We speak before
    we have truly listened.

    We judge before
    we have truly cared.

    Kindness, as Chiara describes it,
    reverses both instincts.

    Listen first.
    Care first.

    Let understanding
    come before opinion.

    "A calm and gentle person
can bring peace to a room

    the way soft music
    changes its atmosphere."

This image is worth sitting with.

    Music doesn't argue a room
    into peace.

    It doesn't announce itself.

    It simply changes
    the atmosphere
    by its presence.

    That is what
    a genuinely kind person does.

    Their calm
    becomes contagious.

    Their gentleness
    changes the temperature
    of every room they enter.

    Today's Gospel told us
    not to worry β€”

    to trust that God
    already knows
    what we need.

    Kindness is what happens
    when that trust
    overflows outward.

    When I am no longer
    anxiously securing
    my own needs,

    I finally have room
    to notice
    yours.

    "Be kind to one another,
    tenderhearted,
    forgiving one another,
    as God in Christ
    forgave you."
    β€” Ephesians 4:32

    Prayer to Live with Kindness

    Lord,
    teach us to listen
    with attention,

    understand
    with compassion,

    and respond
    with kindness.

    Help us notice
    the needs of those
    around us

    and bring comfort,
    peace,
    and encouragement

    through our actions.

    Amen.

    Live the Word

    Today β€”
    before you speak
    in your next conversation,

    pause.

    Listen first.

    Notice what the other person
    might be carrying.

    Let that be
    your kindness.

  • Kindness – The Fruit That Reflects God’s Nature

Ephesians 4:32 – “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

Kindness is one of the most powerful expressions of love. It is not weakness, but strength under control.

In a world filled with hatred, selfishness, and cruelty, kindness is the light that reflects the heart of God.

Every true believer is called to live a life marked by kindness, because it is part of the fruit of the Spirit.

    1. GOD IS KIND

Psalm 145:17 – “The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.”

God’s nature is filled with mercy and compassion. Even when man fell, He showed kindness by providing a way for redemption through Jesus Christ.

His kindness is everlasting — it never runs out. Lamentations 3:22–23 reminds us that His compassions are new every morning.

    2. KINDNESS IS A FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

Galatians 5:22–23 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith...”

The word gentleness here can also be translated as kindness.
When the Holy Spirit dwells in you, kindness flows naturally.

It is not something you pretend to have; it is something that grows within you through the Spirit of God.

    3. KINDNESS IS LOVE IN ACTION

1 Corinthians 13:4 – “Charity suffereth long, and is kind...”

Kindness is love at work. It is the way we treat people when no one is watching.

It is helping the poor, forgiving the offender, comforting the brokenhearted, and showing compassion to those who don’t deserve it.

Jesus demonstrated kindness everywhere He went—He healed the sick, fed the hungry, and forgave sinners.

    4. KINDNESS HAS POWER TO CHANGE HEARTS

A simple act of kindness can turn an enemy into a friend.

Proverbs 25:21–22 – “If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink.”

Your kindness can melt hardened hearts and open doors for the gospel. Many people are drawn to Christ not by preaching alone, but by the kindness of believers.

    5. THE REWARD OF KINDNESS

Matthew 5:7 – “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.”

God never forgets your acts of kindness.

Even a cup of cold water given in His name has a reward.

Hebrews 6:10 – “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love.”

Be kind to others, and God will cause others to be kind to you.

    6. PRACTICAL WAYS TO SHOW KINDNESS

    * Speak gently, even when others are rude.

    * Share your resources with the needy.

    * Forgive quickly.

    * Encourage those who are weak in faith.

    * Offer help without expecting anything in return.

Kindness is the beauty of a believer. It is the mirror that reflects the love of Christ in us.

When you choose kindness, you choose to live like Jesus. Let your words, actions, and attitude reveal that you belong to a kind and loving God.

    PRAY THIS PRAYER

    - Lord, fill me with the Spirit of kindness.

    - Help me to forgive and show compassion like You.

    - Let my life reflect Your love to everyone I meet.

    - Father, make me a vessel of peace and mercy.

    - Help me to sow seeds of kindness daily and reap heavenly rewards.

Micah 6:8 – “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”

    Pastor Abiodun Kadri

I PAID WAEC FEES FOR A BOY I BARELY KNEW, 10 YEARS LATER, HE WALKED INTO THE INTERVIEW ROOM HOLDING MY DESTINY-

    THE BOY AT MY GATE

I was teaching at a small public school in Ibadan. One evening after school, I found a boy at my gate, quiet, nervous and holding a torn exercise book.

“Aunty please, I heard you help students. My WAEC form deadline is tomorrow. My mother is sick. Please, just help me write the exam.”

I didn’t know his name. Never taught him but something in his honesty touched me. The form was ₦19,500. I had only ₦21,000 in my account.

I paid for it. He thanked me and disappeared.

    LIFE MOVED ON

Years passed. I forgot his name. Life got harder. I lost my teaching job. My mother died. I moved to Lagos to start over.

I applied in companies, handed out my CVs and begged for small contracts. Finally, I got an interview at a multinational company.

One chance. I dressed my best. I prayed harder than ever.

    THE MAN IN THE CHAIR

When I entered the interview room, the HR assistant told me:

“The final decision will come from our new Regional Director. He’s young but brilliant.”

    I nodded, nervously.

Then the door opened. He walked in.

    Tall. Confident. Well dressed.

He looked at me… and froze.

“Excuse me... were you once a teacher in Ibadan?"

    I blinked.

    “Yes. Government Secondary School.”

He smiled — eyes suddenly glassy.

    “You paid for my WAEC.”

    THE DESTINY HE RETURNED

    He paused the interview.

    Told everyone in the room:

“I am who I am because one woman saw me as more than just a poor boy.”

“I owe her my entire career.”

Then he turned to me and said:

“This job is yours. But more than that, you have a seat at any table I sit at — for life.”

EPILOGUE - THE BOY WHO BECAME A BRIDGE

Today, I work in that company. Not just as staff but as a board advisor on youth outreach.

He started a scholarship in my name. I now mentor girls from villages across Nigeria.

Sometimes, he still calls me Aunty Teacher and whenever I see him in suits & ties, I remember that day he stood at my gate, holding a torn book.

    And I realize…

God was testing me with a seed. And I almost missed the forest it would grow.
