For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, 14. in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. *TOPIC:* FORGIVENESS. *THE MESSAGE* : Forgiveness is an intentional decision to release anger and the desire for revenge. The fall of man did not only make him guilty of sin but placed him under the domain of darkness and condemnation. Sin erected a barrier between man and God. However, Christ, the Lamb of God, died as an atoning sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin. Just as God rescued His people from slavery in Egypt (Ex. 6:6), so He now delivered us from the domain of darkness and condemnation (Acts 26:18). "Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven... whose sin the Lord does not count against him" (Ps. 32:1-2). Those that are forgiven are now united in Christ. They now love as Christ loves without holding any grudge against anyone. Is your sin forgiven? THE SCARLET CORD "This oath you made us swear will not be binding on us unless, when we enter the land, you have tied this scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down, and unless you have brought your father and mother, your brothers and all your family into your house." - Joshua 2:17-18 Rahab was a prostitute and lived in Jericho. Joshua was on his way to take the city, just as God had commanded him. Joshua sent two spies to the city of Jericho to explore it. The king of Jericho heard about this and sent men to search for these two spies. Rahab took the spies into her house, not to sleep with them, but because she feared the God of Israel. She hid them on the roof. The two spies made an oath to Rahab. They told her to hang the red cord from the window. It was the same cord she had used to let the spies down the wall to so they could flee. The red cord was the sign that she lived in that house and that would secure her and her family's life. Although she was a prostitute, she did exactly what the men told her because she believed in the God of these spies. A small act with major consequences It was not just a rope, no it was a scarlet cord. Not blue, yellow or brown, but a red cord. We see obedience to God in the small things. 'To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams' (1 Samuel 15:22). Rahab might have thought: why should this cord be red? Many people today think: why do you necessarily have to accept Jesus to be saved? Do not forget that this small act by Rahab would have major consequences. Her life and that of her family were at stake. Rahab did not understand the important symbolic meaning of the red cord. Yet she did what she was told. The red cord stands for the shed blood of Jesus. Teach us to value our days so that we may gain wisdom from the experiences we go through. We want to grow wiser with each passing day. So we ask You to teach us everything we need to learn from this day before it ends. We remember our friends tonight. Some of them may be anxious or struggling with temptation. We pray that they will experience the holy things of life. We may not be able to help them much, but we can pray for them, and You can reach down and help them in true, wise, and holy ways. We place all our dear ones in Your care, trusting You to do what is best. Lead them on paths of Your choosing. We also lift up the world before You. It’s lost in sin. It took me years to finish writing a book that I started when I entered ministry in 2022. I remember how the Lord opened a door in Klerksdorp, where I was able to spend time with an elderly couple. As I spent time in their home teaching certain lessons, the elderly lady would become so focused on writing down the Scriptures I was quoting that she would lose focus on the lesson itself. During that time, the Holy Spirit took the opportunity to minister to my heart, that I should start writing down the lessons the Lord taught me. And so, I did. A journey began: writing down what the Lord was teaching me so that I could share it with others. As the years went by small pieces were added and little did i know there was going to be a book one day😱. Here is the promised book: A Tree Known by Its Fruit. The Manchester gathering and the Bible-distribution campaign relate directly to the Church’s continuing mission to proclaim Christ and make Scripture accessible. What we can conclude: Evangelism and Bible distribution continue to be important parts of Christian mission. What we cannot conclude: These individual developments prove that Matthew 24:14 has been fulfilled or establish the timing of Christ’s return. 2. Bible archaeology should inform—not replace—biblical interpretation The Durupınar investigation illustrates why evidence and interpretation must be distinguished. What we can conclude: Scientific investigation can help assess claims about historical sites associated with biblical accounts. What we cannot conclude: Preliminary radar patterns or unusual soil samples prove that the biblical Ark has been found. That conclusion would require much stronger, independently evaluated evidence. 3. Prayer and compassionate service remain practical Christian responsibilities The UK prayer initiative and the call for more compassionate mental-health ministry point toward two everyday responsibilities of the Church: seeking God’s wisdom and caring for people. What we can conclude: Christians have biblical reasons to pray, support one another, and serve people who are suffering. A Scripture-first standard for prophecy Before accepting a claim about current events, ask: 1. What does the biblical passage explicitly say in context? 2. Today’s assessment: We have encouraging reports of evangelism, an active prayer initiative, a Bible-distribution goal, and a call for more compassionate ministry. We also have a new archaeological investigation whose claims remain unconfirmed.
