TODAY'S KINGDOM INSIGHTS THE ONLY REMEDY TO END THE SWORD OF HEROD The Sword Is Still Moving The sword of Herod did not end in the first century. It still appears today in different forms—persecution, oppression, violence, injustice, intimidation, fear, and spiritual attacks against God's people. Many believers ask: "Why are righteous people suffering?" "How can the Church overcome the attacks of the enemy?" The Bible does not leave us without an answer. It reveals the only remedy that can stop the sword of Herod. Key Bible Texts Acts 12:1–12 > "Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James the brother of John with the sword... Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him." He became an instrument of darkness against God's Kingdom. The presence of opposition does not mean God's absence. A praying Church is a victorious Church. Point 3: God Can Deliver Even When Death Seems Certain Peter was sleeping between two soldiers. He was chained. Guards surrounded him. The prison gates were locked. Everything suggested that execution was inevitable. But one angel changed everything. No prison is too secure for God. No attack is stronger than divine intervention. Every day while many of us sleep peacefully, thousands of security personnel remain awake. They stand at checkpoints, patrol dangerous roads, protect communities, rescue victims, and confront criminals. Many leave their families not knowing whether they will return home. We often complain when security fails, but how often do we pray for those who risk their lives to protect us? The Church has a divine responsibility—not only to pray for pastors and missionaries but also to intercede for those entrusted with maintaining peace and order. A praying Church strengthens a nation. The battle for the safety of a nation is not won by weapons alone. It is also won on the altar of prayer. Kidnappings, terrorism, banditry, economic hardship, corruption, and moral decline have placed enormous burdens upon society. When a nation is under pressure, human wisdom alone is not enough. Political strategies alone are not enough. Military strength alone is not enough. A nation under pressure needs God. History and Scripture reveal that whenever people turned back to God, He intervened and brought healing, restoration, and peace. Key Texts Psalm 33:12 "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." A nation becomes truly blessed when it acknowledges God's authority and follows His principles. 2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." God's prescription for national healing begins with repentance and prayer. Proverbs 14:34 "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people." National greatness is built upon righteousness. POINT 1: NATIONAL CRISES ARE A CALL TO SEEK GOD Whenever a nation experiences severe pressure, it should be a wake-up call to return to God. Many people seek God only when trouble comes. Yet God allows challenges to remind humanity that without Him we can do nothing. News of banditry, kidnapping, violence, and insecurity fills our communities. Many people leave their homes not knowing what the day may bring. Families are living in fear. Travelers are anxious. Parents are worried about their children. In moments like these, the Church must not respond with panic but with prayer. We must not surrender to fear but run to God, who is our refuge and strength. Today, our cry is simple yet powerful: "Lord, have mercy on us." Mercy is what we need when human strength fails. Mercy is what we need when danger surrounds us. And as a man if you can't rule over ur wife you are not a good man. Any man that cannot allow her wife to control him doesn't love her. Chief of Army staff controls legions n battalion of Nigeria soldiers but doesn't rule them but Tinubu rules. Why because Chief of Army staff Christopher Musa was chosen n appointed by Ahmed Bola Tinubu and can be removed at anytime. A controller can be removed n replaced by the decision of the ruler but a controller can't remove or replace the ruler by his own decision. So therefore a ruler is more powerful than a controller.
