    Rotten Eggs, Garlic, and Burnt Rubber.

    August 10th, 2026

    What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word “skunk”? It is probably the strong, foul odor used by these cute little striped black and white polecats to protect them from danger. Most animals and people are smart enough to stay clear of the scent glands used by skunks as a defensive weapon. Someone once described the odor as a mixture of rotten eggs, garlic, and burnt rubber. Because of muscles around these glands, skunks are pretty accurate in their aim at up to 10 feet away. People can easily smell this odor up to a mile away.

    Actually, the skunk is reluctant to fire this weapon. It has enough to shoot five or six times, but then needs about 10 days to make another supply. Seeing the black and white stripes (or spots) is enough for most animals and people to stay clear. But if pressed, the skunk will still give warnings by hissing, stamping its feet, and raising its tail high before spraying. The stink is so strong it will even drive a bear away. But there is one predator of the skunk, the great horned owl, which, as you might guess, has a poor sense of smell!

    Some states in the U.S. permit people to make pets out of skunks and have their scent glands removed. Most people come across skunks that are searching for food near garbage cans or trying to find cat or dog food in a garage. Because of their poor eyesight, skunks are often hit by cars on the road. Skunks also carry rabies, though it is more common in raccoons. (Almost all rabies cases in people come from dogs and bats.) Perhaps it is because their spray is enough to keep people away.

    The Bible talks about the judgment of God against Judah when it turned away from the Lord. Especially condemning the luxury of these self-sufficient people, God lists jewels, clothing, and perfumes used by a haughty and proud people. Isaiah writes that the Lord will take away the perfume boxes. “Instead of a sweet smell there will be a stench” (Isaiah 3:23). A selfish life stinks. When we give our hearts to Jesus and live to bless others, it is a sweet smell to all around us.

    Key Bible Texts
    Dead flies cause the ointment of the apothecary to send forth a stinking savour: so doth a little folly him that is in reputation for wisdom and honour. (Ecclesiastes 10:1 KJV)

  • Good morning, brethren.
    1. Morning devotion for today.

    MD.i. MORNING TEA
    THE WORD FOR TODAY
    WEDNESDAY AUGUST 5, 2O26.
    "YOU CAN CARRY GOD’S PRESENCE WITH YOU (1)"

    ‘The poles…are not to be removed.’ Exodus 25:15 NIV

    THE ARK of the Covenant represented the presence of God in the midst of His people. When the Philistines captured it, they were smitten with tumours. When they placed it in their temple, their god Dagon fell to the ground (1 Samuel 5). The moral of this story is—don’t mess around with the things of God! Even if you are not prepared to serve God; at least be wise and revere Him. When Israel conquered the Philistines, David decided to bring the Ark, the symbol of God’s presence, back home to Jerusalem. Now, when God designed the Ark, He put rings on the side of it, and poles through those rings, saying it must only be carried on the shoulders of special priests. But somebody thought of ‘a better way,’ so they put it on a new cart pulled by an ox. And that’s when everything went wrong. When the Ark started to slip off the cart, a well-meaning bystander decided to steady it. And he died for it! You say, ‘That’s pretty extreme.’ There’s a lesson here for those who want to package God’s presence, market it, and ‘take it on the road.’ Who is qualified to carry God’s presence? Only believer-priests who have been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb, are washed by the Word at the laver, who fellowship with God at His table, who worship Him at the altar of incense, and who walk in the light of truth represented by the seven-branched lampstand. Away with newfangled carts! ‘…the Lord added to the church…’ (Acts 2:47 NKJV). If we are going to carry God’s presence and build His church, we’ve got to do it His way.

    ```KEY VERSE:``` _*"And he that beareth the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean unto you" (LEVITICUS 11:28).*_
    *Leonard Syme, a professor of epidemiology at the University of California at Berkeley, indicates the importance of social ties and social support systems in relationship to mortality and disease rates. He simply underscores the saying that attack is the best defence. Defiant posture to defilements regardless the form or the size is the panacea for living holy.*
    *This is the gem in the seemingly extensive and meticulous dietary regulation outlined in our passage, which serves a crucial purpose beyond maintaining physical health. To the Israelites, it was a constant reminder to their distinct identity and calling on one hand and a perpetual prompt to seek holiness and live in constant obedience to God in all aspects of life on the other hand. In the same way, believers today are called to maintain a distinct identity in the world. Our lives must be marked by holiness, obedience, and respect for God's commandments.*
    *Our text, on the surface, sets forth the dietary restrictions on fowls or birds (Leviticus 11:13b-19) and flying insects (Leviticus 11:19-23), but at a deeper level they are part of a larger tapestry of holiness and obedience to God's laws.*
    *The hallmark of this dietary law is the indelible imprint of God's work in them and the call to live lives directed by God. The regulation constantly reminds the Israelites that they are a different and separate people who should by no means live the same way or share common values with the surrounding nations. As the distinction exists between clean and unclean animals, birds or creeping creatures so is there an uncompromisable difference between the Israel of God and other nations. Their food choices reflect this consecrated, holy identity.*
    *How this speaks to you, the "ecclesia", called out one today. If you are saved, your only option is to be separated to live holily before the Lord Who saved you: "But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy" (1 Peter 1:15, 16). These detailed and seemingly complicated instructions underscore the place of God's amazing grace and the unmerited favour He shows to us by His covenant loving-kindness.*
    ```Key Verse:``` _*"Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2).*_

    Helping others is an important aspect of Christian fellowship. Jesus set the perfect example by healing the sick, comforting the brokenhearted and providing for those who were in need.

    Christ's life was dedicated to serving others, showing us that true love is found in selfless acts of kindness and compassion. When we help others, we are following Christ's command to love our neighbours as ourselves.

    Serving others does not always require big gestures. Sometimes, it is the small things that matter most; like a kind word, a listening ear, or sharing what we have. These simple acts can make a big difference in someone's life and show Christ's love in powerful ways.

    *By helping others, we not only fulfill God's command, but we also make the world a better place. Our service becomes a living example of God's love, drawing others closer to Jesus. Through these actions, we share the hope and grace that He offers, and in doing so, we become vessels of His love in the world.*

    *TEXT:* LEVITICUS 11:13-28.

    13 And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,
    14 And the vulture, and the kite after his kind;
    15 Every raven after his kind;
    16 And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,
    17 And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl,
    18 And the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle,
    19 And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.
    20 All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you.
    21 Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth;
    22 Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind.
    23 But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you.
    24 And for these ye shall be unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even.
    25 And whosoever beareth ought of the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even.
    26 The carcases of every beast which divideth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, are unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean.
    27 And whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even.
    28 And he that beareth the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean unto you.

    *Timeless Truth:*_"Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ"_ (Colossians 2:16,17).

    *INTRODUCTION*

    It is doubtful if there is any generation different from ours who is better exposed to the principle of healthy living through a good and appropriate diet. This is possible through newest and advanced, though progressive, scientific discoveries especially, from nutritional scientists. Ignoring their advise and instructions is suicidal against healthy living and longevity. A healthy spirit in an unhealthy and weak body cannot be at its best spiritually. Does God care about what we eat? God is the greatest nutritional scientist since He created those animals and knows them more than anybody else. The dietary laws in the text were primarily directed to Israel as part of the Mosaic law which are not binding for those in the new covenant. However, beyond dietary rules, these rules are meant to pass across deeper truths as they are shadows of things to come in the New Testament (Colossians 2:16,17).

    *1. Dietary Laws*

    a. In order to get honey from the rock, there must be willingness and determination to pay the price of diligently digging hard. The same with the old covenant which is a shadow of the new. Due diligence must be given so as to eat and digest the meat of the Word which is beyond the milk of the Word.
    b. The chapter can be categorized for better understanding.
    i.Land-living mammals that can be eaten and those that cannot be eaten are given in Leviticus 11:1-8.
    God gave these laws to the children of Israel. Did God create any animal to be unclean? The New Testament says NO. *"I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean."* God just decided to make that temporary classification to teach some lessons as divine revelations were evolving. When God created animals, *"God saw that it was good"* (Genesis 1:25). Would something unclean be good to God? The classification was revealed in the days of Noah when there was a distinction between clean and unclean animals (Genesis 7:2, 8:20) for the purpose of sacrifice. The first law God gave to humanity had to do with what could and could not be eaten. Was the fruit that was not to be eaten unclean. NO. It was a good fruit from a good tree, but God classified it as forbidden to test their obedience. So these laws were given to Israel as a test of their obedience and separation to God.
    ii.Water creatures that cannot be eaten and those that cannot be eaten are listed in Leviticus 11:9-12. Under these dietary laws given to Israel, the unclean water creatures were to be regarded as an abomination and could not be eaten.
    iii.Birds and other flying things that can and cannot be eaten are listed in Leviticus 11:13-19.
    There was no rule given to determine if a bird was clean or unclean. Instead, specific birds (twenty in all) are mentioned as being unclean and therefore forbidden for eating.The common thread through most of these birds is that they are either predators or scavengers which, apart from killing fellow creatures, have the tendency to drink their blood.
    iii. Insects that can and cannot be eaten are listed in Leviticus 11:20-23. Good examples of clean insects include the locust, the cricket and the grasshopper. All these unclean creatures can be touched when they are alive except that they must not be eaten. We can relate with sinners without getting polluted with their sins. If the carcass of any of the unclean is touched either deliberately or accidentally, the person and their clothes become unclean and must perform some ceremonially purifying rituals. *"And for these ye shall be unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even"*. The evening was referring to the time of their evening sacrifice. *"And whosoever beareth ought of the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even"*.

    *Question*

    Check the list for those animals and birds that were unclean then, but are freely eaten now by believers and man in general.

    *2. Definite Lessons*

    a.It has been established that no creature of God is created unclean. The classification was temporary to pass across some eternal messages. Eternal divine messages are difficult to comprehend by the natural man. The concept of the innocent coming to die for the wicked is not natural. It is the other way around. A kind of mercy that will declare the guilty not just forgiven and stands before God as though he had never sinned and a saint is beyond human comprehension. This is called justification. How do you reconcile justice and mercy? What about the concept of grace that will make God forget committed sins to the point that He would not be able to remember again? God in His wisdom decided to use natural and visible things in the Old Testament to shadow reality in the New Testament so that those concepts will be readily understood by mankind. And it worked.
    b. The emphasis in the text is more of moral uncleanness rather than medical uncleanness. It teaches that there is moral cleanness and moral uncleanness and they cannot mix. Moral uncleanness is not just divine hatred, it is an abomination to God of which the judgment is capital or eternal damnation. The fact that unclean animals cannot be sacrificed is indicative of the fact that God only accepts the sacrifices and the services of those that are holy and clean. *"Be ye holy for I am holy"*. This is reasonable. If you have a delicious meal, but notice a small and an "insignificant" quantity of human excreta in the food, will you eat it? If you are very hungry and you see an exposed loaf of bread in a dustbin of all kinds of rotten things, will you pick the bread and eat? If you are interviewing a person for a good job and you notice the person tells "small, small lies", will you employ the person? At times man pushes to God what he himself cannot accept or tolerate. Will you blame God if He is angry at your unholy sacrifice, service and actions? There is also the law of "don't touch" a dead animal or you become unclean. This is the law of total separation from uncleanness and peddlers of uncleanness. *"Come out from among them and be ye separate"*. Jesus Christ, in mind, motive and every area, was separate from sinners. Even when He physically interacted, it was to shine the light to them and minister the truth to them. *"Abstain from all appearance of evil"*. The defiled shall be unclean till the even or evening sacrifice.It was time an innocent animal was slain for the sin of the whole nation on a daily basis. It shows that forgiveness comes through atonement by the blood. The fact that he must also wash himself with water is an indication that there must be personal responsibility in addition to the atonement. The sinner must apply the washing of water by the Word of God to wash his mindset, heart, attitude and actions and be presentable to God as a holy vessel. The fact that some food is forbidden is a test of our obedience and self control. It is not everybody we befriend or relate with. There must be self discipline.

    *Question*

    What other lessons can you learn? Do you depart from uncleanness and all unclean people? In addition to the atonement, do you do your part by opening up your heart and mind for the Word of God to clean on a daily basis?

    *Prayer Points*

    1.Praise God for His wisdom in making spiritual truths to be comprehensive to all seekers .
    2.Ask God for more understanding of deep mysteries of the Word of God and the gospel .
    3.Offer your heart and life to God afresh and ask for total cleansing from all defilements .
    4.Pray that the messages of holiness will go beyond our heads, but permeate through our hearts to true holiness .

    2. Morning prayer for today.

    MD.ii. Morning Prayer

    To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth. God [is] our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. ⏤ Psalm 46:1

    God does nothing but by prayer, and everything with it. ⏤ John Wesley

    Gracious Father, we come to You at the start of this new day, seeking Your blessing. We thank You for the rest we’ve had through the night. We laid down, slept, and woke up again because You sustained us. We will not fear any opposition because You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble.

    Now, our Father, send us out into the new day on new missions. We want to take our directions from You. Help us to keep Your commandments. Cleanse us from hidden faults and sins; keep us from falling into willful sin. You are able to keep us from falling—we commit our souls to Your holy care. Deliver us from the Evil One. We have no power to stand against his cunning attacks, so we trust our souls to You, our faithful Creator and Friend. Save us from the Tempter.

    We ask that You make us strong for our duties today. We have many things to do that will require wisdom and perseverance. Give us the strength that comes from victory in struggle. Equip us to do good at home—showing love and care for one another. May our home be filled with Your rich blessings. Let nothing disrupt our love for each other or harm our fellowship. Help us to grow in love that is sincere, patient, thoughtful, and kind. May we continue to learn the lessons of love better and better.

    May the light from our home shine out, showing others how to live more sweetly. May Your grace be upon us in proportion to our need, filling our hearts and lives, and preparing us for every experience we may face today. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Through these actions, we share the hope and grace that He offers, and in doing so, we become vessels of His love in the world.* 🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥🍥 ```🅿️rayer:``` _*Lord, guide me to help others, showing Your love through my actions and words.*_ 🙏🏽 ```📖 Further Reading:``` *Matthew 25:35-40* A Helper To Others https://dailymanna.app// *TXD [THEXDEVOTIONALS] on Twitter* *#SincereMilk5thAugust2026* *#GCK* *#WorshipNuggets* *#BibleNuggets* *#LeadershipNuggets* *#RevivalNuggets* *#CrusadeNuggets* https://www.youtube.com/[THEXDEVOTIONALS] [04/08, 9:32 pm] Pastor Attah: *MEDITATIONS ON DAILY ⓂANNA* WEDNESDAY, 5TH AUGUST, 2026. *BEYOND GOOD AND BALANCED DIET* *TEXT:* LEVITICUS 11:13-28. 13 And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray, 14 And the vulture, and the kite after his kind; 15 Every raven after his kind; 16 And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind, 17 And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl, 18 And the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle, 19 And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat. 20 All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you. 21 Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth; 22 Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind. *INTRODUCTION* It is doubtful if there is any generation different from ours who is better exposed to the principle of healthy living through a good and appropriate diet. *1. Dietary Laws* a. *Question* Check the list for those animals and birds that were unclean then, but are freely eaten now by believers and man in general. *2. Definite Lessons* a.It has been established that no creature of God is created unclean. *Question* What other lessons can you learn? Do you depart from uncleanness and all unclean people? In addition to the atonement, do you do your part by opening up your heart and mind for the Word of God to clean on a daily basis? *Prayer Points* 1.Praise God for His wisdom in making spiritual truths to be comprehensive to all seekers 🙏. 2.Ask God for more understanding of deep mysteries of the Word of God and the gospel 🙏. 3.Offer your heart and life to God afresh and ask for total cleansing from all defilements 🙏. 4.Pray that the messages of holiness will go beyond our heads, but permeate through our hearts to true holiness 🙏. *HYMN:* Wash Me O Lamb of God. *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* JOHN 10-12. 2. Most people think of owls as quiet nighttime birds, but the barn owl reveals something far greater when you look closely. This creature operates in conditions so dark they are nearly impossible to imagine, yet it hunts with precision as if the lights were on. Under light levels as low as 7 × 10⁻⁸ lux, the barn owl can still detect and track its prey. That is not ordinary vision. That is capability built with purpose.

    Its hearing is just as remarkable. The barn owl’s ears are intentionally offset, one higher than the other, allowing it to locate sound with pinpoint accuracy in complete darkness. It does not guess. It does not search randomly. It locks onto its target with a level of precision that demands a fully functioning system from the start.

    And beyond sight and sound, the owl is navigating. Research shows it builds mental maps of its surroundings using the hippocampus while in flight. That means it is processing, remembering, and moving through space all at once, combining multiple complex systems into one seamless operation.

    This is not a creature slowly figuring things out over time. These systems only work when they are complete. The barn owl was equipped from the beginning, a living demonstration of intentional design, precision, and the unmistakable hand of the Creator.

    I Know You By Name.

    By Evelyn Hainey February 16th, 2026

    “So the Lord said to Moses … ‘I know you by name.’” Exodus 33:17

    “I can’t believe she brought that little boy with her,” the gray-haired lady walking directly in front of us said to her white-haired companion—loud enough for Jason and me to hear. I had recently joined the Knoxville Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society and, at 30, I was the youngest member of the club. On this outing, though, I’d brought along my even younger friend, 10-year-old Jason.

    “I know,” her companion responded. “We won’t be able to see a thing because he’ll scare all the birds away. If I’d known that little boy was coming, I would not have come on this field trip!”

    I looked down at Jason. My bird book was clutched tightly in one of his hands while the other held onto a pair of borrowed binoculars, which were slung around his neck. This was his first organized birding trip and I hoped the comments from the ladies wouldn’t discourage him into making it his last. I knew he had an interest in birds. He’d found a screech owl in the woods and had recently come over to my house to count woodpeckers in my back yard.

    “Did you find all the birds we hope to see today in that bird book?” I asked, in an effort to distract him.

    “Sure did, and I can hardly wait to see them!” came his excited reply.

    Good! They haven’t spoiled the day for him—yet, I thought. It should be a good day for shorebirds and other migrating waterfowl—not really the easiest for beginners, but Jason is well prepared.

    Just then, the path opened up to a wide expanse of water. It was one of the ash-settling water treatment ponds next to the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Kingston Fossil Plant, a large coal-burning power plant west of Knoxville.

    “Hey, little boy!” chirped one of the men in that condescending voice used by many on the very young, “Do you want to come see the birdie?” He’d just set up his high-powered spotting scope at the edge of the pond.

    “Sure,” Jason replied, standing on tiptoe to see into the scope. “Oh,” he gasped in a low voice filled with awe, “it’s a loon with its winter coat on!”

    Instantly, Jason’s fortunes changed. From that moment on, he had a name and was no longer “little boy.” The rest of the day, those older members of the Knoxville Ornithological Society eagerly fought over him as they shared their hard-earned birding information with a 10-year-old boy.

    “Jason, have you seen . . .?”

    “Jason, did you know . . .?”

    “Jason, come see what we have here.”

    That day, Jason had to prove his knowledge and interest in order to be accepted by the older members of the Society and gain access to their vast resources of knowledge developed from years of birding. He had to earn the right to be called by his given name. Yet, in our spiritual walk, Jesus doesn’t wait until we’ve earned our worth, or know the right answers, to grant us access to Him or His wealth of knowledge and mercy. Jesus calls us just as we are, saying, “Come to me …” (Matthew 11:28).

    In Exodus 33:17, God said to Moses, “I know you by name ….” He knows each of our names, as well, writing them in the Book of Remembrance (Malachi 3:16). Our daily response of listening to and seeking for Jesus allows Him to show us “great and mighty things” we don’t know (Jeremiah 33:3).

  • BIBLE STUDY — February 10 | Leviticus Chapter 11

    INTRODUCTION

    Leviticus chapter 11 teaches God’s people how to live distinct, holy lives through everyday choices. While the chapter focuses on clean and unclean foods, the deeper lesson is not merely diet, but obedience, discernment, and holiness. God shows Israel that holiness touches daily life, even what they eat and touch. For believers today, this chapter points to spiritual purity, self-discipline, and honoring God in ordinary decisions.

    CONTEXT SUMMARY

    After establishing the priesthood and proper worship, God now instructs Israel on purity in daily living. These laws separate Israel from surrounding nations and continually remind them that they belong to a holy God. The food laws also served health, ceremonial, and spiritual purposes, teaching Israel to distinguish between clean and unclean, holy and common.

    VERSE-BY-VERSE TEACHING (NKJV)

    Leviticus 11:1

    Now the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them,

    Teaching: God speaks with authority to both spiritual leaders and the people.

    Application: God’s instructions come directly from Him and deserve obedience.

    Leviticus 11:2

    “Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘These are the animals which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth:

    Teaching: God sets boundaries for His people.

    Application: God cares about how His people live daily.

    Leviticus 11:3

    ‘Among the animals, whatever divides the hoof, having cloven hooves and chewing the cud—that you may eat.

    Teaching: God provides clear standards.

    Leviticus 11:5

    ‘the rock hyrax… is unclean to you;

    Teaching: God defines purity, not human reasoning.

    Application: Trust God’s wisdom even when reasons are not obvious.

    Leviticus 11:6

    Teaching: God commands separation from impurity.

    Application: Avoid what God declares spiritually harmful.

    Leviticus 11:9

    ‘These you may eat… whatever… has fins and scales…

    Teaching: God provides what is good and permitted.

    Application: God’s commands include provision, not restriction alone.

    Leviticus 11:10

    ‘But all… that do not have fins and scales… are an abomination to you.

    Teaching: God establishes moral and ceremonial distinctions.

    Application: Believers must reject what God calls unclean.

    Leviticus 11:11

    ‘They shall be an abomination to you…

    Teaching: God emphasizes seriousness.

    Application: Do not grow casual about holiness.

    Teaching: God governs every area of life.

    Application: Holiness applies to all choices, not some.

    Leviticus 11:14

    ‘the kite, and the falcon after its kind;

    Teaching: God names specific boundaries.

    Application: God’s Word provides clarity, not guesswork.

    Leviticus 11:15

    ‘every raven after its kind,

    Teaching: God sees even scavenger behavior.

    Application: God sees what happens in darkness.

    Leviticus 11:18

    ‘the white owl… and the carrion vulture;

    Teaching: Death-associated creatures symbolize impurity.

    Application: Avoid what feeds spiritual death.

    Leviticus 11:19

    Teaching: God separates Israel from pagan symbolism.

    Application: Do not adopt worldly practices.

    Leviticus 11:20

    ‘All flying insects that creep on all fours shall be an abomination…

    Teaching: God draws lines even in small things.

    Application: Faithfulness includes attention to details.

    Leviticus 11:21

    ‘Yet these you may eat… which have jointed legs…

    Teaching: God balances restriction with allowance.

    CONCLUSION

    Leviticus chapter 11 teaches that holiness is lived out in everyday choices. God calls His people to be distinct, obedient, and discerning because He Himself is holy. While these food laws were given specifically to Israel, the spiritual principle remains: God desires a people set apart in heart, mind, and conduct. Holiness is not about restriction—it is about reflecting the character of the God who redeemed us.

    📅 BIBLE STUDY — February 10 | Leviticus Chapter 11 INTRODUCTION Leviticus chapter 11 teaches God’s people how to live distinct, holy lives through everyday choices. CONTEXT SUMMARY After establishing the priesthood and proper worship, God now instructs Israel on purity in daily living. These laws separate Israel from surrounding nations and continually remind them that they belong to a holy God. The food laws also served health, ceremonial, and spiritual purposes, teaching Israel to distinguish between clean and unclean, holy and common. VERSE-BY-VERSE TEACHING (NKJV) Leviticus 11:1 Now the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them, Teaching: God speaks with authority to both spiritual leaders and the people. Application: God’s instructions come directly from Him and deserve obedience. Leviticus 11:2 “Speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘These are the animals which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth: Teaching: God sets boundaries for His people. Application: God cares about how His people live daily. Leviticus 11:3 ‘Among the animals, whatever divides the hoof, having cloven hooves and chewing the cud—that you may eat. Teaching: God provides clear standards. Application: God’s instructions are specific, not confusing. Leviticus 11:4 ‘Nevertheless these you shall not eat… the camel… is unclean to you; Teaching: Partial obedience is not acceptable. Application: Following God requires full obedience, not selective agreement. Leviticus 11:5 ‘the rock hyrax… is unclean to you; Teaching: God defines purity, not human reasoning. Application: Trust God’s wisdom even when reasons are not obvious. Leviticus 11:6 ‘the hare… is unclean to you; Teaching: External appearance does not determine holiness. Application: God looks beyond surface-level behavior. Leviticus 11:7 ‘and the swine… is unclean to you. Teaching: Holiness requires discernment. Application: Not everything that seems acceptable is approved by God. Leviticus 11:8 ‘Their flesh you shall not eat… They are unclean to you. Teaching: God commands separation from impurity. Application: Avoid what God declares spiritually harmful. Leviticus 11:9 ‘These you may eat… whatever… has fins and scales… Teaching: God provides what is good and permitted. Application: God’s commands include provision, not restriction alone. Leviticus 11:10 ‘But all… that do not have fins and scales… are an abomination to you. Teaching: God establishes moral and ceremonial distinctions. Application: Believers must reject what God calls unclean. Leviticus 11:11 ‘They shall be an abomination to you… Teaching: God emphasizes seriousness. Application: Do not grow casual about holiness. Leviticus 11:12 ‘Whatever in the water does not have fins or scales… Teaching: God’s standard remains consistent. Application: Obedience must be continual. Leviticus 11:13 ‘And these you shall regard as an abomination among the birds… Teaching: God governs every area of life. Application: Holiness applies to all choices, not some. Leviticus 11:14 ‘the kite, and the falcon after its kind; Teaching: God names specific boundaries. Application: God’s Word provides clarity, not guesswork. Leviticus 11:16 ‘the ostrich… the hawk after its kind; Teaching: God’s list is intentional. Application: Trust God’s design for spiritual health. Leviticus 11:17 ‘the little owl… and the screech owl; Teaching: God’s holiness extends to hidden places. Application: God sees what happens in darkness. Leviticus 11:19 ‘the stork… and the bat. Teaching: God separates Israel from pagan symbolism. Application: Do not adopt worldly practices. Leviticus 11:20 ‘All flying insects that creep on all fours shall be an abomination… Teaching: God draws lines even in small things. Application: Faithfulness includes attention to details. Leviticus 11:21 ‘Yet these you may eat… which have jointed legs… Teaching: God balances restriction with allowance. Application: God’s commands are not oppressive. 1. Morning Prayer

    I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. ⏤ John 15:5

    In the light of Christ, our hearts find the strength to shine. ⏤ J.R. Miller

    Heavenly Father, as this new day begins, draw us closer to You. Let the light of Your love shine in our hearts and may Your grace fill us like the morning sun. Give us a glimpse of the fullness of life that awaits us in Heaven, so that our hearts may be drawn towards it.

    We thank You that eternal life begins here on earth when we receive Jesus as our Lord. Help us to live more fully each day, filled with Your presence. Abide in us, and may we abide in You. Let Your love overflow in our hearts through the Holy Spirit.

    We ask for grace to be witnesses for Jesus today. In our homes, may we show love, gentleness, and affection as a testimony to Your power. In our work, may we demonstrate diligence, faithfulness, and selflessness. In our friendships, may we be thoughtful, sincere, and kind, showing Christ’s love to all we meet. In every aspect of our lives, may we reflect Your beauty and grace.

    We also pray for those whose work takes them into dangerous places today. Keep safe those who travel by sea, those who work on the rails, in mines, and in other hazardous jobs. We pray for our neighbors and friends, the poor, the sick, and those nearing death. We ask all these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.

    These are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God . . .
    —John 20:31

    God caused the Bible to be written for the express purpose of revealing to us God’s plan for His redemption. God caused the Book to be written that He might make His everlasting laws clear to His children, and that they might have His great wisdom to guide them, and His great love to comfort them as they make their way through life. For without the Bible this world would indeed be a dark and frightening place, without signpost or beacon. The Bible easily qualifies as the only book in which God’s revelation is contained.

    There are many bibles of different religions; there is the Mohammedan Koran, the Buddhist Canon of Sacred Scripture, the Zoroastrian Zend-Avesta, and the Brahman Veda . . . They all begin with some flashes of true light, and end in utter darkness. Even the most casual observer soon discovers that the Bible is radically different. It is the only Book that offers redemption to us and points the way out of our dilemma.

    Prayer for the day

    Lord Jesus, as I read Your Word, Your truth shines through and illuminates a dark world.

    Peace on Earth!
    Bible Reading: Luke 2:8-14

    Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to all whom God favors. Luke 2:14

    EVER SINCE the angels appeared on the hillside with their great news of joy and peace, Christmas has been a time for singing. You’ve probably sung each of the following Christmas songs below-except that the titles have been changed just to mess with your mind. See if you can figure out the real titles-the first one, for example, is “Deck the Halls.”

    Embellish the interior passageways.
    Listen, the celestial messengers produce harmonious sounds.
    The Christmas preceding all others.
    Move this way, entire assembly of those who are loyal in their belief.
    Expectation of arrival by mythical, masculine perennial gift giver.
    The first person nominative plural of a trio of far eastern heads of state.
    Small masculine master of percussionistic cylinders.
    Natal celebration devoid of color, rather albino.
    Jovial yuletide desired for the second person singular or plural by us.
    Nocturnal time span of unbroken quietness.
    The angels sang, “Peace on earth,” and Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace (see Isaiah 9:6). He came to bring peace to a world in turmoil. He came to bring peace into your life when things seem to be falling apart. God’s brand of peace starts with trusting Christ personally and allowing his peace to rule your life. It spreads to others as his peace transforms your life.

    Jesus came to be the great peacemaker, and as you grow in his peace you become a peacemaker too. The peace that Jesus provided-the peace that you can experience today-is the peace of forgiveness and reconciliation. That’s what Christmas is all about: God reconciling with his human creation so that you can be friends again with him and others.

    Spread God’s peace. That’s a birthday present Jesus will really appreciate.

    REFECT: How will you share the peace of Jesus today?

    PRAY: Jesus, you brought real peace to my world. Make me a peacemaker too.

    SATURDAY, DECEMBER 27TH, 2025

    *WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU ARE AFFLICTED AND OVERWHELMED*

    *TEXT:* PSALM 102:1-11.

    1 Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee.
    2 Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.
    3 For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.
    4 My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread.
    5 By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.
    6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.
    7 I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.
    8 Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.
    9 For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping.
    10 Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.
    11 My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.

    *Timeless Truth:*_"From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I"_ (Psalm 61:2).

    *INTRODUCTION*

    The Psalms have been given different classifications by Bible scholars. For example, Messianic Psalms are Old Testament psalms that prophetically describe the life, suffering, death, and reign of Jesus Christ and the Messiah, with key examples including Psalms 2, 16, 22, 40, 110, and 118. In traditional Christian liturgy, our text, Psalm 102 has been regarded as one of the seven penitential psalms (along with Psalm 6, 32, 38, 51, 130, 143). The pains and the afflictions that the psalmist passed through were deep and uncommon. Yet there it has deep lessons on what to do when passing through overwhelming afflictions and pains.

    *1. Cry During Crisis*

    a. There are many things man does in times of crisis. Some complain, cry, or even curse. It is not the depth or degree of the afflictions that matters most, but our attitude towards them. The afflictions and the expressions described in the text are comparable to that of Job who is an example of someone who experienced overwhelming afflictions in the Old Testament. Job, in spite of his limited knowledge of God and man, has shown us that there is no new thing under heaven, and no matter how great the afflictions and pain may be, with faith in God, it would soon turn to a testimony of victory. Calling upon God is the most profitable and unfailing response to all sorrows, crisis and afflictions. While crying may bring temporary relief, it does not bring a solution. The solution is in Who the cry is directed to, who should be God who can do all things and solve all problems. *"Hear my prayer, O LORD, and let my cry come unto thee"*. He did not just pray, he cried to the LORD. There is a difference between praying and crying. He made a strong appeal and petition to God whom he called LORD. In other words there is a relationship between the afflicted and the *LORD* . He has accepted God as His personal Lord like some have their own personal Physicians to which all their health issues are directed.
    b. The afflictions become more terrible and painful when there is the sense of being forsaken by God and God is far away out of reach. Jesus also cried when there was the sense of being forsaken by God and shouted to God as if He was far away, *"My Father, my Father, why hast thou forsaken me?"* The aura of the presence of God in the midst of affliction is a soothing balm when overwhelmed with troubles. *"Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble"*. He promised the saints, *"I will never leave thee or forsake thee"*. (Hebrews 13:5). The only thing that can drive away the presence of God is sin.

    *Question*

    How do you cry to God in times of crisis?

    *2. Confess without Complaining*

    a. Many Christians are aware of the importance of confession of sins so as to receive pardon or forgiveness. However, the psalmist was genuinely a righteous person and as a result, sin was not his problem. However, what type of confession did he make? *"For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth"*. He made pathetic confession to God as to what he was passing through like a sick person does to a trusted Physician. It is a confession without complaining about self pity which only psychologically aggravates the problem. Confession of our feelings and experiences to God have a soothing and therapeutic effect on the mind and the body. Don't bottle your agonies, express them to God who hears and has the power to deliver. It was a suffering that resulted in total loss of appetite and unintended fasting. *"My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread"*. As a result, he had also emancipated. *"By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin"*. He experienced strange and wretched loneliness though he was with some people. *"I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert".* He further confessed that His unrepentant enemies added to his affliction through reproach and curses. *"Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me"*. This kind of sufferings and afflictions are unimaginable though that of Job is worse. The agony of the soul is not as serious as that of the Lord Jesus.
    b. His limited knowledge as an Old Testament saint was an additional burden. He, like Job, wrongly thought of God as a professional wrestler fighting him in His anger. *"Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down"*. Wrong diagnosis of the case of sufferings will prolong the afflictions and make it more painful. A constant self reminder of the unfailing love of God and His abiding presence will impart the needed grace to endure to the end and overcome.

    *Question*

    Do you confess without complaining during a painful crisis?

    *3. The Confidence and Consecration*

    In the most severe and overwhelming afflictions, the psalmist demonstrated confidence in God. In fact, he resigned to the arms of God in crying to God in prayers though he wrongly diagnosed the cause. He made up his mind like Job who said, *"Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him"* (Job 13:15). The end of all those who are consecrated to God to follow Him to the end are always gracious. Those who could not endure but deny Him will eternally regret. *"Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy"* (James 5:11).

    *Question*

    How strong is your consecration to endure all what Paul described as *" our light afflictions"* and make heaven at last?

    *Prayer Points*

    1.Lord, give me grace to have the right and godly attitude during crisis and afflictions .
    2.Lord, strengthen my consecration and resolve never to bend and give up my faith no matter what .
    3.Always open my eyes to see You and help me to always feel Your presence in the midst of troubles .
    4.Release the Spirit of prayers and revelations on all the retreat participants .

    *HYMN:* Tell it to Jesus

    *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* REVELATION 9-11.

They all begin with some flashes of true light, and end in utter darkness. Even the most casual observer soon discovers that the Bible is radically different. It is the only Book that offers redemption to us and points the way out of our dilemma. Prayer for the day Lord Jesus, as I read Your Word, Your truth shines through and illuminates a dark world. Bible Reading: Luke 2:8-14 Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to all whom God favors. Luke 2:14 EVER SINCE the angels appeared on the hillside with their great news of joy and peace, Christmas has been a time for singing. You’ve probably sung each of the following Christmas songs below-except that the titles have been changed just to mess with your mind. See if you can figure out the real titles-the first one, for example, is “Deck the Halls.” Embellish the interior passageways. ANSWERS: 1. *1. Cry During Crisis* a. *Question* How do you cry to God in times of crisis? *2. Confess without Complaining* a. *Question* Do you confess without complaining during a painful crisis? *3. The Confidence and Consecration* In the most severe and overwhelming afflictions, the psalmist demonstrated confidence in God. *Question* How strong is your consecration to endure all what Paul described as *" our light afflictions"* and make heaven at last? *Prayer Points* 1.Lord, give me grace to have the right and godly attitude during crisis and afflictions 🙏. 2.Lord, strengthen my consecration and resolve never to bend and give up my faith no matter what 🙏. 3.Always open my eyes to see You and help me to always feel Your presence in the midst of troubles 🙏. 4.Release the Spirit of prayers and revelations on all the retreat participants 🙏. *HYMN:* Tell it to Jesus *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* REVELATION 9-11. Buy the truth and sell it not. Your eternity and holiness is not for sale.

  • Mystical Gardens Tale

    There are seasons when discouragement whispers louder than hope.
    When every prayer feels unanswered, every effort feels unnoticed, and every dream feels too late.

    If you have ever wondered whether you missed God’s timing… If you’ve ever felt like your gift doesn’t matter anymore… If you’ve ever prayed for something until your voice grew tired… This story is for you.

    The Tenth Hour

    She walked with her head down, her heart heavy with a kind of tiredness no sleep could fix. The path beneath her feet was familiar, yet today it felt strange, like it was pulling her forward.

    “I should have started writing years ago,” she whispered into the wind. “Maybe I've already missed my chance. Maybe my stories don’t matter anymore.”

    Her words drifted into the trees, but something about the air changed. The light shifted. The path widened. Before she could question it, she stepped into a place she had never seen before.

    It appeared to be a garden. Soft golden light fell through the branches of the tree overhead. Flowers glowed like embers at dusk, and perched on the lowest limb of the twisted, beautiful tree was an owl. White-faced, steady-eyed, silent.

    She felt like her presence had been expected for some time. “Am I late?" she murmured half to herself, her throat tightening. “I'm always late.”

    The owl blinked once. Then again. Finally, something spoke inside her mind, its voice was deep and warm. “Child, you are not late. You are right on time.”

    She wiped her eyes. “I'm never on time. Not even in my writing. I should have done all of this years ago. I should have started sooner. My books aren’t selling. I keep praying, but nothing happens. Maybe I’m just not good enough.”

    The tree rustled its leaves, and suddenly the garden shifted. A breeze blew, carrying small glowing seeds across the air. They drifted like fragile lanterns, landing in the soil around her.

    “Seeds planted early often bloom early,” the tree said. “But seeds planted later are seen when the world grows weary. When their light is needed most.”

    The owl lifted its wings and circled her once, its feathers scattering specks of light that clung to the seeds. One by one, the seeds sprouted, glowing brighter than the flowers around them. Late-planted seeds. Late-blooming beauty.

    “You believe you are behind,” the tree said gently. “But your stories were planted for another season, one that is only now beginning.”

    Tears slipped freely down her cheeks. “But I’m tired,” she whispered. “I feel dim, like my light is fading. Like I don’t have anything left.”

    The owl settled beside her, brushing its wing against her arm. Warmth filled her chest. “Your light is not fading,” the tree said. “It is being refined. Dimness is not failure, it is preparation for the brightness.”

    She sank to her knees, the glow of the late-blooming flowers surrounding her. “Will my stories matter?” she asked, voice trembling.

    The tree’s answer was immediate and sure. “They already do. They will touch those who were meant to read them, in the hour that only the father can choose. Not early. Not late. But right when their hearts are ready.”

    She closed her eyes and breathed in the peace of the garden. The weight on her shoulders lifted, not all at once, but like wax melting, slow and steady. When she opened her eyes, the owl was still watching her.

    She rose, calmer than when she came. As she turned to leave, the tree spoke one last time: “Do not give up at the tenth hour. The harvest comes after the waiting.” And she was back on the path again. This time, it carried her home.

    Scripture

    Galatians 6:9
    “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

    Whisper from the Garden

  • So I decided to try the Jesus Wake Up Routine for the next few days. I’m not sure how I’ll manage it, I’m usually a night owl and really struggle in the mornings, but the plan is to wake up at 4.30 and spend an hour at least with God before the day starts.

    Last night I started preparing for bed at about 9.30, unheard of for me, and probably got to sleep about 11. I love God’s sense of humour; here’s me worrying about being able to wake at 4.30, So God allowed me to wake, fully alert at 2.55 instead. It’s now 3.10am and I’m excited to get started, I’m guessing I’m starting early on day 1. Please lend me your prayers that I manage to keep it up for the next few days.

    God bless all.
