MANY OF us remember singing in church, ‘Every promise in the Book is mine!’ Exciting words—but are they entirely true? If you’ve prayed for the fulfilment of a Bible promise that didn’t materialise, you may have wondered, felt disillusioned, or even stopped trusting. What’s true is that every promise in the Book intended for you, is yours! God is committed to keeping every promise He has made (Matthew 24:35). So how can you know which Bible promises are yours? Here are some scriptural guidelines to help you: 1) Be sure you understand the promise. God is committed to His Word, not to your interpretation of it. When Jesus said, ‘…Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up’ (John 2:19 NKJV), His audience completely misunderstood Him, thinking He meant the literal temple when He meant His body. 2) Walk in the Spirit, not the flesh. Walking in the Spirit, Peter received divine understanding of Christ’s deity. When Jesus asked, ‘Who do you say I am?’ Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’ Jesus replied, ‘…this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father…’ (Matthew 16:15-17 NIV). Soon afterwards, walking in the flesh, the same man totally misunderstood Jesus and was severely rebuked by Jesus (Matthew 16:21-23). Why? Because ‘…the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God…nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned’ (1 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV). God can turn the situation around in a moment.* *The cleric took lessons from the experience of Habakkuk, the prophet who was struck with terror on learning from the Lord that the land of Judah would be attacked by the fierce Chaldean troops from Babylon. Already disturbed by the iniquities of injustice and impunity around him, on which he expected the Lord to act, Habakkuk was now informed that more disquietude was on the way. The prophet was made to understand that even the Chaldeans, who were to be used as an instrument of punishment, were themselves to face the wrath of God for their wickedness. His anxiety was relieved when he realised that the God of mercy he served was at the point of reviving His people in the process. He went on to intercede for precisely that.* *With humanity now also traumatised by sporadic assaults coming through technological inventions like Artificial Intelligence (AI), wars, insecurity, dysfunctional governance, threats of nuclear conflagration, there are fears that man is on the brink, looking into the bottomless abyss. Really? Not so. The Christian is challenged, rather, like Habakkuk, to plead for revival among the turmoil. It is the hour to ask for an unprecedented move of God's Spirit in the world, an event that should usher multitudes to repentance and turning to Christ for succour in trying times.* *The Lord's second coming is imminent, going by the signs we are witnessing. It is a timely call for vigilant heaven-seeking Christians to strengthen their commitment to holiness, evangelism, study of God's word, fellowship, and acts of kindness. There are many contemporary cases of revival in addition to the one in Bible days. Jonah was used by God to bring Revival to the people of Nineveh where all the 120,000 inhabitants got convicted and converted. There were revivals in Israel during the time of king Hezekiah and Josiah. The Early Church also experienced great revival immediately after the Pentecost. When there is spiritual coldness and indifference to spiritual things, when there is no clear distinction between the world and the Church, when saints are distracted from heavenly desire to earthly preoccupation, then revival is needed. When the saints are weak, powerless and fainting in scriptural conviction and consecration, then we need revival. When formalism and entertainment fill our worship instead of true and holy devotion to God and heavenly things, revival is needed. In order to experience revival, there must be deep concern and burden for prayer coupled with passion for revival. It takes a revived person to be an instrument of revival. *1. The Man of Prayer* a. The man God uses must be a man of bended knees with power of prayer. *"A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.”* Habakkuk was not merely a prophet who preached; he was also a man who prayed. His direct communication with God was not clogged. God could express His mind and vision to him clearly and He also could hear from God and communicate with God effectively and fruitfully. He was a true servant of God that stood between God and man as mediator. He lived a life that was pleasing to God and God could speak to him about people. He dwelt in the midst of compromised and corrupted people without being defiled and with boldness to declare unto them their sins and evil as God had told him without fear or favour. His response to the difficult circumstances surrounding Judah was to seek God. The spiritual condition of a nation should drive God's servants to their knees. Revival begins when someone becomes sufficiently burdened to pray as he comes out of the cocoon of self seeking and self satisfaction. b. There is no revival that ever came in human history without people who had the passion and power of prayer from God. Habakkuk's prayer demonstrates that prayer is not a sign of weakness, but an expression of dependence upon the Almighty. The revival God wants to bring may begin with one person who is willing to stand before Him in persistent intercession. Churches need prayer warriors who will carry the burden of their generation before God. The praying saints or warriors that bring revival concentrate their prayers on heavenly things and not on earthly benefits and blessings. Earnest, consistent and persistent prayers by holy people with deep burden and passion for the glory of God, salvation of souls and perfection of saints are indispensable to a true God sent revival. *Question* Am I sufficiently burdened by the spiritual condition of my generation to become a man or woman of prayer? *2. The Manifestation of Passion* *"O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid"*. Habakkuk's prayer reveals intense spiritual passion. Having heard God's Word and understood His dealings with His people, he was moved deeply. He was such a person that was not indifferent to the Word of God. The Word of God moved, burned and melted his heart. It became fire in his bones that only revival could quench. First he heard the voice of God. Second he was afraid. He was like Noah who, after hearing the Word of God, believed and *"being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house"* (Hebrews 11:7). True passion for God is not passive. It actively engages in things that will bring change and revival. b. Passion for revival means longing to see God glorified, sinners saved, believers renewed and righteousness restored. Habakkuk did not ask God merely to improve circumstances; he asked Him to revive His work. True revival passion is therefore God-centred rather than man-centred. We must pray until spiritual hunger replaces spiritual complacency. *Question* Does my prayer life demonstrate a genuine passion for God to revive His work in my generation? *3. The Mercy from the Potentate* a. What does this world need desperately from God? Mercy! The degree of worldliness and ungodliness are inexcusable. Man deliberately lives his life, spurning His Word and commandments as if God does not exist. Saints' lives are soiled with carnality, worldliness and corruption. Their focus has shifted from serving the Lord to what mundane things the Lord will give to them. b. Passionate prayer for the mercy of God is an indication that we accept that God has been offended and He is angry at us because of our coldness and carnality. It should always be a prayer point constantly. *“In the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.”* Habakkuk recognized God as the sovereign Potentate who has authority to judge, revive, restore and show mercy. He therefore pleaded, *“in wrath remember mercy.”* Revival cannot be manufactured by human ability; it must come through divine mercy and sovereign intervention. The prophet understood that although God's people might deserve judgment, God's mercy could provide restoration. This should encourage us to approach God humbly and plead for mercy upon the Church, families, communities, and nations. When God shows mercy, dry bones can live again, cold hearts can burn again and His work can flourish again. *Question* Am I humbly pleading with the sovereign God to remember mercy and revive His work in our generation? my breakdown of philippians 4:8 What is true about the gospel The truth about the gospel is that God is kind, God is patient, God loves His creation, God keeps His promises. What is noble about the gospel Jesus is selfless, He is the creator, He is kind and He is God, yet brought Himself to nothing to save me. What is right about the gospel? Jesus shows pitty on us sinners, Jesus shows the sacrificial and selfless love of God. The gospel is right because it rescues sinners and brings us close to God. What is pure about the gospel? The gospel shows the pure sacrificial selfless love of God. It shows the ultimate purity of Jesus, He is sinless, perfect, righteous, never had a evil thought or spoke a single evil word. Jesus is cleaner than snow. What is lovely about the gospel Jesus is lovely because He never hurt anything or anyone, Jesus is lovely because He loves without counting the cost. He is lovely because He is humble, gentle and full of truth and hope. All hope light and life are in Him. There is nothing beautiful outside of Jesus. What is admirable about the gospel It shows that Jesus obeys God no matter what. He obeys God perfectly and His focus was on finishing His mission for which He was sent. He endured the pain and suffering with His heart and mind focused on rescuing helpless sinners. Its admirable because He didn't give up in the face of unspeakable pain. Gospel is excellent, 14ththe gospel shows Jesus’s excellence, His excellence is in His clean and pure heart, Because He loved the poor in spirit and He healed the sick. Even those that hated Him and killed Him he prayed for them for their forgiveness, Jesus is the picture and definition of excellence. Gospel is praiseworthy because it shows the sacrificial selfless love of Jesus, for unworthy sinners. Jesus is praiseworthy because He keeps His word and loves His sheep and never leaves them. He never told a lie, He always practiced what He taught. Jesus is clean, He is pure, He is light and the only source of life.

Rather than learning from the failures of his father, Ahaziah continues walking in rebellion against the Lord. After suffering a serious injury, he seeks guidance, not from the God of Israel, but from the false god Baal-Zebub. His decision reveals the true condition of his heart. In his moment of greatest need, he trusts idols instead of the living God. The Lord immediately sends Elijah to intercept the king's messengers. Elijah asks a piercing question: Is there no God in Israel that the king must seek counsel elsewhere? The issue is not merely where Ahaziah seeks information, but whom he trusts. His actions reveal that he has rejected the Lord's authority despite belonging to God's covenant people. God announces that Ahaziah will not recover because he has deliberately rejected the Lord. Rather than humbling himself, the king repeatedly sends soldiers to arrest Elijah. Twice, military commanders approach the prophet with arrogance and demand that he come immediately. Each time, God's judgment falls, demonstrating that no earthly authority stands above the Lord. The third commander approaches differently. Instead of pride, he comes with humility and asks for mercy. God honors this attitude, and Elijah willingly goes with him. The contrast is striking. Pride brings judgment, while humility receives grace. When Elijah finally stands before Ahaziah, he faithfully delivers God's message exactly as he had received it. The king's death follows precisely as the Lord declared, confirming once again that God's Word never fails. Theologically, 2 Kings 1 reveals the futility of seeking answers apart from God. It also demonstrates that God opposes pride but extends grace to the humble. The chapter emphasizes God's complete authority over kings, nations, and every human power. This chapter points to Christ, who alone reveals the Father perfectly. Rather than seeking false sources of hope, believers are invited to come directly to Jesus, who is the truth and the only mediator between God and humanity. He offers grace to the humble and life to all who trust in Him. For believers today, 2 Kings 1 reminds us to seek God first in every circumstance. The world offers many competing voices, but true wisdom comes from the Lord alone. In Christ, we have direct access to God's truth and guidance. We are called to approach Him with humility, trusting that He alone has the words of eternal life. 2 Kings 2 The God Who Continues His Work 2 Kings 2 records one of the most remarkable transitions in Scripture as Elijah's earthly ministry comes to an end and Elisha is prepared to continue God's work. The chapter demonstrates that while God's servants may change, God's mission continues without interruption. As Elijah prepares for his departure, he repeatedly tests Elisha's commitment by inviting him to remain behind. Each time, Elisha refuses to leave his mentor. His persistence reflects loyalty, faithfulness, and a desire to remain close to the work God is accomplishing. Elisha understands that the greatest blessing is not simply witnessing miracles but remaining faithful to God's calling. When Elijah asks what he desires before his departure, Elisha requests a double portion of Elijah's spirit. His request is not driven by ambition or personal glory but by a recognition that he will need God's power to fulfill the ministry ahead. He understands that God's work can only be accomplished through God's enabling. The dramatic departure of Elijah in a whirlwind demonstrates God's sovereign authority over life and death. Elijah does not experience death in the ordinary sense but is taken directly into God's presence. The event confirms God's approval of His faithful servant and marks the completion of a remarkable prophetic ministry. Immediately afterward, Elisha begins exercising the ministry God has entrusted to him. The parting of the Jordan River demonstrates that the same God who worked through Elijah is now working through Elisha. The focus is never on the prophet himself but on the Lord who empowers His servants. The remainder of the chapter records miracles that reveal God's compassion, holiness, and authority. Through Elisha, bitter waters are healed and God's holiness is upheld. The Lord continues revealing Himself to His people through His faithful prophet. Theologically, 2 Kings 2 teaches that God's work is never dependent upon one individual. He faithfully raises up new servants to continue His purposes from generation to generation. The chapter also emphasizes that spiritual ministry depends entirely upon God's power rather than human ability. This chapter points beautifully to Christ. Elijah's ministry prepared the way for future revelation, while Elisha continued God's work through the power given to him. Jesus, however, is greater than both prophets. He not only performs miracles but gives His Holy Spirit to every believer, empowering the Church to continue His mission until He returns. For believers today, 2 Kings 2 reminds us that God's work continues across generations. Faithful servants may finish their course, but God's mission remains unchanged. In Christ, we have received the Holy Spirit, who equips us to serve faithfully and carry the gospel forward. We are called to remain committed, depend upon God's power, and trust that the Lord who called us will also enable us to accomplish His purposes. 2 Corinthians 9 — Generosity That Reflects the Grace of the Christ 2 Corinthians chapter 9 continues the theme of generous giving by revealing that true generosity flows from a heart transformed by the Christ, the Son of God. The chapter moves beyond the practical act of giving to reveal the spiritual principles behind it. The redemptive plan produces people whose lives overflow with gratitude, generosity, and joyful worship because they have first received the immeasurable grace of God through the Christ. The chapter begins by encouraging believers to be ready and willing in their generosity. Paul desires that their giving reflect sincere love rather than pressure or obligation. Christian living is never driven by guilt or compulsion. Instead, it flows from hearts that have been changed by the grace of the Son of God. The believer's generosity becomes an outward expression of an inward transformation. Paul then introduces the principle of sowing and reaping. Throughout Scripture, God has established that what is sown faithfully produces a corresponding harvest. This principle is not presented as a formula for personal wealth but as an illustration of God's faithful provision. Those who give generously for His purposes discover that the Lord continues to supply what is needed for every good work. The redemptive plan teaches believers to trust the Christ as their provider rather than placing confidence in earthly resources. A central emphasis of the chapter is cheerful giving. God delights in willing hearts that give joyfully because they understand His generosity toward them. The greatest example of giving is the Christ Himself, who freely gave His life to accomplish salvation. Christian living reflects that same spirit of joyful generosity. The Son of God never gave reluctantly, and His followers are called to imitate His heart. Paul reminds the believers that God is able to provide abundantly for every need. This promise does not encourage self-indulgence but faithful stewardship. The Christ provides so that His people may continue serving others and advancing His kingdom. The redemptive plan equips believers not merely to receive blessings but to become channels through which God's blessings reach others. The chapter also highlights the far-reaching results of generosity. Faithful giving meets practical needs, strengthens fellow believers, and produces thanksgiving to God. As people witness God's provision through His people, their hearts are directed toward worship. Christian living therefore extends beyond personal obedience to becoming a testimony of God's faithfulness before others. Another important theme is that generosity demonstrates the sincerity of faith. Giving becomes visible evidence that believers truly understand the gospel they profess. The Christ has transformed their priorities, replacing selfishness with sacrificial love. The redemptive plan is displayed not only through words but through lives that willingly invest in God's purposes. Paul also describes the unity that generous giving creates within the body of Christ. As believers care for one another across different places and circumstances, they demonstrate the reality that they belong to one family under the lordship of the Son of God. The generosity of one group strengthens another, creating deeper fellowship and mutual thanksgiving. The chapter concludes with an outburst of praise centered on God's indescribable gift. Every act of Christian generosity ultimately points back to the greatest gift ever given—the gift of the Christ Himself. Everything believers possess, including salvation, grace, hope, and eternal life, has come through the Son of God. All generosity begins and ends with Him. Throughout this chapter, the Christ remains the perfect example of selfless giving. His sacrifice is the source from which all Christian generosity flows. The redemptive plan transforms hearts so completely that giving becomes an act of worship rather than obligation, producing thanksgiving to God and blessing to His people. For believers today, this chapter calls us to cultivate hearts of joyful generosity. Christian living is not measured by how much we possess but by how faithfully we steward what God has entrusted to us. We are reminded that the Son of God is our faithful provider, enabling us to give with confidence and joy. "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her." — Ephesians 5:25 (CSB) Paul calls husbands to love their wives with the same sacrificial, selfless love that Jesus demonstrated for the church. Christ's love was not based on what He received in return but on His commitment to serve, protect, and give Himself for those He loved. Biblical marriage reflects this kind of love, where a husband leads through humility, compassion, and faithful devotion rather than selfishness or control. This verse reminds every Christian husband that the highest standard for loving his wife is the example of Christ Himself. Such love strengthens a marriage and points others to the transforming love of the gospel.

"YOU CAN CARRY GOD’S PRESENCE WITH YOU (1)" ‘The poles…are not to be removed.’ Exodus 25:15 NIV THE ARK of the Covenant represented the presence of God in the midst of His people. When the Philistines captured it, they were smitten with tumours. When they placed it in their temple, their god Dagon fell to the ground (1 Samuel 5). The moral of this story is—don’t mess around with the things of God! Even if you are not prepared to serve God; at least be wise and revere Him. When Israel conquered the Philistines, David decided to bring the Ark, the symbol of God’s presence, back home to Jerusalem. Now, when God designed the Ark, He put rings on the side of it, and poles through those rings, saying it must only be carried on the shoulders of special priests. But somebody thought of ‘a better way,’ so they put it on a new cart pulled by an ox. And that’s when everything went wrong. When the Ark started to slip off the cart, a well-meaning bystander decided to steady it. And he died for it! You say, ‘That’s pretty extreme.’ There’s a lesson here for those who want to package God’s presence, market it, and ‘take it on the road.’ Who is qualified to carry God’s presence? Only believer-priests who have been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb, are washed by the Word at the laver, who fellowship with God at His table, who worship Him at the altar of incense, and who walk in the light of truth represented by the seven-branched lampstand. This is possible through newest and advanced, though progressive, scientific discoveries especially, from nutritional scientists. Ignoring their advise and instructions is suicidal against healthy living and longevity. A healthy spirit in an unhealthy and weak body cannot be at its best spiritually. Does God care about what we eat? God is the greatest nutritional scientist since He created those animals and knows them more than anybody else. The dietary laws in the text were primarily directed to Israel as part of the Mosaic law which are not binding for those in the new covenant. However, beyond dietary rules, these rules are meant to pass across deeper truths as they are shadows of things to come in the New Testament (Colossians 2:16,17). *1. Dietary Laws* a. In order to get honey from the rock, there must be willingness and determination to pay the price of diligently digging hard. The same with the old covenant which is a shadow of the new. Due diligence must be given so as to eat and digest the meat of the Word which is beyond the milk of the Word. b. The chapter can be categorized for better understanding. i.Land-living mammals that can be eaten and those that cannot be eaten are given in Leviticus 11:1-8. God gave these laws to the children of Israel. Did God create any animal to be unclean? The New Testament says NO. *"I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean."* God just decided to make that temporary classification to teach some lessons as divine revelations were evolving. When God created animals, *"God saw that it was good"* (Genesis 1:25). Would something unclean be good to God? The classification was revealed in the days of Noah when there was a distinction between clean and unclean animals (Genesis 7:2, 8:20) for the purpose of sacrifice. The first law God gave to humanity had to do with what could and could not be eaten. Was the fruit that was not to be eaten unclean. NO. It was a good fruit from a good tree, but God classified it as forbidden to test their obedience. So these laws were given to Israel as a test of their obedience and separation to God. ii.Water creatures that cannot be eaten and those that cannot be eaten are listed in Leviticus 11:9-12. Under these dietary laws given to Israel, the unclean water creatures were to be regarded as an abomination and could not be eaten. iii.Birds and other flying things that can and cannot be eaten are listed in Leviticus 11:13-19. There was no rule given to determine if a bird was clean or unclean. Instead, specific birds (twenty in all) are mentioned as being unclean and therefore forbidden for eating.The common thread through most of these birds is that they are either predators or scavengers which, apart from killing fellow creatures, have the tendency to drink their blood. iii. Insects that can and cannot be eaten are listed in Leviticus 11:20-23. Good examples of clean insects include the locust, the cricket and the grasshopper. All these unclean creatures can be touched when they are alive except that they must not be eaten. We can relate with sinners without getting polluted with their sins. If the carcass of any of the unclean is touched either deliberately or accidentally, the person and their clothes become unclean and must perform some ceremonially purifying rituals. *"And for these ye shall be unclean: whosoever toucheth the carcase of them shall be unclean until the even"*. The evening was referring to the time of their evening sacrifice. *"And whosoever beareth ought of the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even"*. *Question* Check the list for those animals and birds that were unclean then, but are freely eaten now by believers and man in general. *2. Definite Lessons* a.It has been established that no creature of God is created unclean. The classification was temporary to pass across some eternal messages. Eternal divine messages are difficult to comprehend by the natural man. The concept of the innocent coming to die for the wicked is not natural. It is the other way around. A kind of mercy that will declare the guilty not just forgiven and stands before God as though he had never sinned and a saint is beyond human comprehension. This is called justification. How do you reconcile justice and mercy? What about the concept of grace that will make God forget committed sins to the point that He would not be able to remember again? God in His wisdom decided to use natural and visible things in the Old Testament to shadow reality in the New Testament so that those concepts will be readily understood by mankind. And it worked. b. The emphasis in the text is more of moral uncleanness rather than medical uncleanness. It teaches that there is moral cleanness and moral uncleanness and they cannot mix. Moral uncleanness is not just divine hatred, it is an abomination to God of which the judgment is capital or eternal damnation. The fact that unclean animals cannot be sacrificed is indicative of the fact that God only accepts the sacrifices and the services of those that are holy and clean. *"Be ye holy for I am holy"*. This is reasonable. If you have a delicious meal, but notice a small and an "insignificant" quantity of human excreta in the food, will you eat it? If you are very hungry and you see an exposed loaf of bread in a dustbin of all kinds of rotten things, will you pick the bread and eat? If you are interviewing a person for a good job and you notice the person tells "small, small lies", will you employ the person? At times man pushes to God what he himself cannot accept or tolerate. Will you blame God if He is angry at your unholy sacrifice, service and actions? There is also the law of "don't touch" a dead animal or you become unclean. This is the law of total separation from uncleanness and peddlers of uncleanness. *"Come out from among them and be ye separate"*. Jesus Christ, in mind, motive and every area, was separate from sinners. Even when He physically interacted, it was to shine the light to them and minister the truth to them. *"Abstain from all appearance of evil"*. The defiled shall be unclean till the even or evening sacrifice.It was time an innocent animal was slain for the sin of the whole nation on a daily basis. It shows that forgiveness comes through atonement by the blood. The fact that he must also wash himself with water is an indication that there must be personal responsibility in addition to the atonement. The sinner must apply the washing of water by the Word of God to wash his mindset, heart, attitude and actions and be presentable to God as a holy vessel. The fact that some food is forbidden is a test of our obedience and self control. It is not everybody we befriend or relate with. There must be self discipline. *Question* What other lessons can you learn? Do you depart from uncleanness and all unclean people? In addition to the atonement, do you do your part by opening up your heart and mind for the Word of God to clean on a daily basis? *Prayer Points* 1.Praise God for His wisdom in making spiritual truths to be comprehensive to all seekers 🙏. 2.Ask God for more understanding of deep mysteries of the Word of God and the gospel 🙏. 3.Offer your heart and life to God afresh and ask for total cleansing from all defilements 🙏. 4.Pray that the messages of holiness will go beyond our heads, but permeate through our hearts to true holiness 🙏. *HYMN:* Wash Me O Lamb of God. *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* JOHN 10-12. 2. It is the love we show to others. Jesus gave His followers a new command: to love one another just as He has loved us. This kind of love is patient, kind, forgiving, humble, and selfless. It reflects the very heart of God. The world may recognize people by their achievements or appearance, but Jesus said His disciples would be recognized by their love. As we grow spiritually, love should become part of our character. Choose to forgive those who hurt you, speak kindly to others, help those in need, and treat everyone with respect. 📌 Today's Readings are from the Book of 1 Kings 9–10 | 2 Corinthians 2📌 👇 Overviews Are Below (PLEASE READ YOUR BIBLE: Overviews Do Not Replace Daily Reading) 👇 1 Kings 9 The Blessing of Obedience and the Warning Against Compromise 1 Kings 9 opens after Solomon has completed both the temple and his royal palace. Years of faithful labor have culminated in the fulfillment of God's promises, and once again the Lord appears to Solomon. This second appearance is not primarily about blessing but about covenant responsibility. God reminds Solomon that His promises remain secure, yet continued blessing is connected to continued obedience. The Lord assures Solomon that He has heard his prayer and has set the temple apart for His name. However, He also warns that if Solomon or the people turn away from Him to worship other gods, the nation will experience judgment, and even the magnificent temple will become a testimony of what happens when God's people abandon their covenant relationship with Him. This warning reveals an important biblical principle. God's covenant love never changes, but His people are still responsible to walk faithfully before Him. Outward success and religious activity cannot replace a heart fully devoted to the Lord. The temple itself is not a guarantee of blessing if obedience is absent. The chapter then records Solomon's continued accomplishments. Cities are built, trade expands, alliances are strengthened, and the kingdom prospers. God blesses the work of Solomon's hands, allowing Israel to enjoy peace, influence, and abundance. Yet throughout these achievements, the reader is reminded that prosperity is a gift from God rather than the result of human wisdom alone. Beneath the success, subtle warning signs begin to emerge. Her journey demonstrates that God's blessings upon Israel were never intended to remain isolated but were meant to reveal His glory to the world. The Queen arrives with difficult questions, and Solomon answers each one with wisdom that leaves her astonished. She observes not only his understanding but also the order of his kingdom, the excellence of his servants, and the peace that characterizes his reign. She recognizes that the source of Solomon's greatness is not merely his intelligence but the God who established him as king. Her response becomes one of praise to the Lord. She acknowledges that Israel's God has demonstrated covenant love by placing such a wise ruler over His people. The nations are given a glimpse of God's character through the wisdom and leadership of Solomon. Israel is fulfilling its calling to be a light among the nations. The remainder of the chapter describes the extraordinary wealth, influence, and honor that surrounded Solomon's reign. Gold, precious materials, trade, military resources, and international recognition all testify to the blessings God has poured upon the kingdom. Solomon reaches a level of prosperity unmatched by any king before him. Yet the chapter also quietly introduces an important tension. As Solomon's wealth, influence, and possessions increase, careful readers recognize that some of these accomplishments begin approaching the very dangers Moses had warned future kings about. Prosperity itself is not sinful, but abundance can slowly shift the heart away from complete dependence upon God if it is not held with humility. The Queen of Sheba traveled across the world to hear Solomon, yet today people from every tribe, language, and nation are invited to come to Jesus, who offers not only wisdom but eternal life. His kingdom far surpasses the temporary glory of Solomon's reign because it is founded upon righteousness, grace, and truth. For believers today, 1 Kings 10 reminds us that our lives should reflect God's wisdom in such a way that others are drawn to Him. Every blessing we receive is an opportunity to glorify the Lord rather than ourselves. In Christ, we possess treasures far greater than earthly wealth, and we are called to live with humility, faithfulness, and wisdom so that the world may see the greatness of our King. 2 Corinthians 2 — Forgiveness, Restoration, and the Triumph of the Christ 2 Corinthians chapter 2 reveals the compassionate heart of the Christ, the Son of God, through the themes of repentance, forgiveness, restoration, and faithful ministry. After addressing the comfort that God provides in suffering, Paul now explains how that comfort should shape the way believers relate to one another. Just as a pleasing fragrance fills the air, the lives of believers should reveal the presence of the Christ to everyone around them. Some will receive the gospel with joy, while others will reject it, but faithful servants continue proclaiming the truth with sincerity and integrity. This closing image reminds us that Christian living is both a privilege and a responsibility. Believers do not represent themselves; they represent the victorious Christ. Every conversation, every act of kindness, every display of forgiveness, and every faithful proclamation of the gospel becomes part of God's ongoing work of drawing people to Himself. Throughout this chapter, the character of the Son of God is consistently displayed. He is compassionate toward the repentant, faithful in His mission, victorious over sin, and worthy of wholehearted devotion. His redemptive plan transforms broken people into forgiven children of God who now become ambassadors of His grace. For believers today, this chapter calls us to pursue restoration wherever repentance is found. Christian living requires both courage to confront sin and humility to forgive those whom the Christ has forgiven. When holiness becomes the foundation of a relationship, romance becomes beautiful because it is guided by wisdom, respect, and God's presence. My daughter, never allow anyone to pressure you into compromising your purity or your relationship with Christ in the name of love. The apostle Paul, who considered himself ‘…not in the least inferior to the most eminent apostles’ (2 Corinthians 11:5 NAS), answers simply: ‘I am Paul. My role is serving. I am a servant to the gospel and the body of Christ.’ Certain people in the early church tried to determine which of the apostles were the greatest. Some claimed Paul and others Apollos. But Paul challenged them, ‘What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe…’ (1 Corinthians 3:5 NIV). Whatever your calling, be it pastor of a megachurch or a lay member, you’re no more—and no less—than a servant. In God’s kingdom class distinctions don’t count. ‘There is neither Jew nor Greek…slave nor free man…male nor female…you are all one in Christ Jesus’ (Galatians 3:28 NAS). We’re servants called to do the will of God, wherever He appoints us to serve. And that’s a good thing! In being a servant there’s relief from ‘the pressure to perform’. No one has the right to judge you except your Master. ‘Who are you to judge the servant of another? To his own master he stands or falls…’ (Romans 14:4 NAS). We should be concerned about what pleases God, not people. He alone can evaluate our service. Australia's Aboriginal inhabitants had known about this burning mountain for many years before the European settlers reached the area. But soon after they came, this spectacle attracted scientific attention. It was initially thought to be a volcano or pseudo-volcano. But _Burning Mountain_ is not a volcano, Australia being fortunate in not having any volcanoes still active today. Instead, it was discovered that within Mt Wingen is a layer of coal that is burning, having been set alight by natural means.* *Like this Australian burning mountain, the Lord promised to turn the high places upon the earth into a burning mountain, in a planned blistering judgment, delivered through Prophet Micah. Micah was chosen as a mouthpiece of the Lord, to condemn the sins of the children of Israel in his day. He predicted swift judgment that will ignite the mountains of the land with fire, which will cascade dangerously into the valleys, like a waterfall. Samaria, which at one time was the capital city of the corrupt northern kingdom of Israel, will be ploughed like the fields and the graven images, representing the idolatry of the people shall be burned with fire. Worthy of note here is God's promise to sustain these judgements until Israel repents.* *Micah, like many other prophets in the Bible, was largely ignored by the sinning Israelites. Israel's protracted stubbornness dates back to their days in Egypt. When eventually, they were rescued from slavery through the supernatural hands of Jehovah, they refused to show appreciable gratitude. Interestingly, the messages of the various prophets sent to them from the onset struck a similar chord. They warned about impending judgment for Israel's sins. It is amazing that Israel could ignore prophets after prophets delivering the same messages until the predicted punishment occurred. Even their long stay in captivity in Babylon did not produce a consistent fruit of repentance in them.* *God expects sinners to repent and turn to Him immediately after hearing the gospel. It is sheer foolishness to engage in the habit condemned in today's text. Sinners must be persuaded and compelled, though in love, to turn decisively from sin and obtain God's free salvation. And if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?"_ (1 Peter 4:17). *INTRODUCTION* Criminals generally don't factor the possibility and reality of being caught, convicted and condemned at the point of crime or its conception. If they do, many would have avoided the crime. Sinners must always live in the consciousness of inescapable and inexcusable judgment that will always follow their evil actions. *"Judgment must begin at the house of God"* is a clear warning to saints too that they must not live carelessly as if they will not be accountable for all their actions. The prophecy of Micah came during a period of spiritual decline in both Samaria and Judah. Though God had repeatedly warned His people through His prophets, they persisted in idolatry, injustice, and rebellion. Micah's message reveals that God's judgment is neither accidental nor impulsive; it is the righteous response of a holy God to persistent sin. No nation, church or individual can escape divine judgment when they continually reject God's mercy. Yet the warning itself is evidence of God's desire for repentance before punishment falls. *1. Divine Alarm at Sins* a. Micah, by the Spirit of God, begins by declaring the Word of the Lord and calling all people to listen. *"Hear all ye people; hearken"*. His message will be of no use except the audience takes time to listen. Israel got into the spiritual mess as a result of not hearkening to the voice of God and would only be delivered by hearkening to the Word of God. A heart that is void of the Word of God will be void of the righteousness of God. The more the Word of God dwells in the heart with fervency, the more the fear of God and the more the righteousness in the heart. God was alarmed at the sins of Israel and Judah. Northern Israel, with Samaria as the headquarters, had unbroken chain of evil rulers. Judah, with her capital as Jerusalem enjoyed godly rulers, but at this particular time, her ruler, Ahaz was ungodly. God was alarmed as to how deep and far they had gone in their horrible sins. He summons the whole earth as witnesses because sin is never hidden from His all-seeing eyes. His alarm is not merely emotional, but judicial. Before God judges, He speaks. His warnings are expressions of His mercy, giving sinners the opportunity to repent. Ignoring God's voice only increases one's accountability. b. In this modern time, sin has grown in bounds and boundaries with different modern names for different horrible sins. New sins are being invented in every culture and race. The verdict of God is ever the same to all sinners. *"Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."* (Romans 1:32). *Question* Am I responding promptly to God's warnings through His Word and the conviction of the Holy Spirit or am I treating His warnings lightly? *2. Definite Arrival of Sufferings* a. God is portrayed as coming down from His holy dwelling to execute judgment. *"Behold the LORD cometh forth out of his place"*. His arrival is heralded by supernatural disequilibrium of the forces of nature. The mountains melt and valleys split before His majestic presence, showing that no power can withstand Him. His judgment is irresistible. Samaria, once proud and prosperous, would become a heap of ruins because of her persistent idolatry. *"And I will discover the foundations thereof"*. All its mighty structures would be levelled down to the ground. Every idol would be destroyed and every ill-gotten gain consumed. All this came to pass about 28 years after the prophecy in BC 722 when Assyria invaded Samaria and carried all the ten tribes captives. b. Divine judgment may seem delayed, but it always arrives at God's appointed time. Those who refuse repentance will eventually, experience the consequences of their rebellion. Nobody enjoys the sufferings of judgment whenever it comes. There is also the final eternal judgment for the unrepentant into the Lake of fire. When the trumpet sound of repentance is blowing, only fools ignore it. *Question* Am I relying on God's mercy while neglecting genuine repentance, forgetting that His judgment will surely come upon unrepentant sin? *3. Description of Annoying Sacrilege* The breakdown of the judgment further shows the nature of their sins that annoyed God to condemn them. Micah clearly identifies the root cause of Israel's calamity: transgression and idolatry. *"For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel"*. Sin, of any form is always annoying to God. God hates sin with perfect hatred. The religion that condones, excuse or justify sin is not of God. Samaria and Jerusalem had abandoned wholehearted devotion to God and embraced practices that dishonoured His covenant. Their cities were shamelessly filled with graven images including all forms of idols. In addition, they had many temple harlots that engaged in immorality with the worshippers. Sacrilege is offensive because it replaces God's glory with human desires and false worship. Anything that occupies God's rightful place in our hearts becomes an idol. God demands exclusive worship and complete loyalty from His people. Sin, of any form or shape, is defiling, dangerous, destructive and damnable. Eternal regrets always follow a lack of repentance. *Question* Is there anything in my life that has taken God's rightful place and become an idol in my heart? *Prayer Points* 1.Lord, give me a tender heart that quickly responds to Your warnings and turns away from every sinful path 🙏. 2.Father, deliver me from every form of idolatry, compromise and hidden rebellion against Your will 🙏. 3.Help me by the Holy Spirit, to always work in the consciousness and reality of judgment to come and to always have reverential fear of You 🙏. 4.Lord, put Your fear in the heart of Your children and help them to live daily in holiness, obedience and unwavering devotion until the coming of Christ. *HYMN:* Let Him In. *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* EXODUS 39-40. 2. You have invited us to come to You, and we come boldly to Your throne of grace to find mercy and help in our time of need. Grant us Your peace and accept us graciously. We are sorry for our sins, which have grieved You. We offer no excuse and won't try to make our sins seem less serious than they are. We simply confess them and ask You to forgive us. We have burdens to carry. Some of them are heavy, and it feels like we can't bear them. But we remember Your promise that if we cast our burdens on You, You will sustain us. So we cast our burdens on You. We don't ask that You take them away from us, for it may be that we need to continue bearing them. So we ask for the grace to keep carrying our burdens, and we trust Your promise to give us the strength to sustain us as we walk under them with faith and confidence. Help us not to faint and fall under the load, but enable us to walk upright, helped by Your sustaining grace. Teach us to do Your will. Your will is always the best thing for us, the only good thing we can do. Going against Your will grieves You and harms our own lives. Show us Your will, day by day, step by step—what You would have us do. Then teach us to DO Your will. Incline our hearts to Your commandments. Then help us to obey them. It’s not easy for us to do this with our weak hearts, but help us today to do only the things that please You. We ask this in Jesus' precious name.
