DBF-001-031 continues with John 2:10. The master of the feast recognizes that something unusual has happened: the best wine has been kept until now. We should keep the focus on Christ’s provision and avoid turning the verse into a promise of material abundance. DAILY BREAD FELLOWSHIP DBF-001-031 Today’s Scripture John 2:10 (ESV) “And said to him, ‘Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.’” Opening the Scriptures The master of the feast had tasted the wine, but he did not know where it had come from. He called the bridegroom and expressed his surprise. Normally, the better wine was served first. Yet at this wedding, the master believed that the best had been kept until later. What he did not know was that the bridegroom had not provided this wine. Jesus had. The master could recognize the quality of the gift, but he did not recognize its source. The servants knew. Behind what appeared to be an unexpected provision stood the power and authority of Jesus Christ. John is steadily directing our attention away from the wedding itself and toward Jesus. Living God’s Word Today There is a danger in receiving God’s gifts while forgetting the Giver. Every day we receive things we can easily take for granted. Food. Shelter. Family. Friendship. Strength for another day. Opportunities to serve. Most importantly, for those who belong to Christ, forgiveness of sin and eternal life. Scripture reminds us: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above.” — James 1:17 Yet we must also be careful about what this miracle does not teach. Jesus turning water into wine does not promise Christians wealth, comfort, success, or an easy life. The apostles themselves would later suffer greatly for following Christ. The greatest gift at Cana was not the wine. The greatest gift was Christ Himself. That remains true today. God may give us much or little in this world. Our circumstances may change. Health can fail. Possessions can disappear. Human relationships can disappoint us. But the Christian’s greatest treasure cannot be measured by earthly prosperity. We have Christ. In Him we have something infinitely greater than temporary comfort: reconciliation with God, forgiveness of sin, and the certain hope of eternal life. The master of the feast enjoyed the gift without knowing its source. Let us not make the same mistake. Recognize God’s goodness. Give thanks for His daily provision. But never become so occupied with God’s gifts that you forget the God who gives them. Treasure Christ above everything He gives. Question for Today Do you value God’s gifts more than you value God Himself? Respond: “Christ is my greatest treasure.”

He declared that his success was due to the good hand of God that was upon him. He cherished the truth that God was his safeguard in every position of influence. For every trait of character by which he obtained favor, he praised the working power of God.... And God gave him wisdom, because he did not exalt himself. The Lord taught him how to use the gifts entrusted to him to the very best advantage, and under the supervision of God, these talents gained other talents.... – {UL 243.5} Every jot of influence is to be appreciated as the gift of God. The eye of the mind is to be single to the glory of God. Then the sense of responsibility will increase. Our talents will be put out to the exchangers to increase and double. Did you know? Nothing in this world is more valuable than knowing Jesus Christ personally. Success, possessions, and achievements may satisfy for a season, but they cannot save the soul or give the hope of eternal life. Jesus declared, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me"(John 14:6). God has already shown the depth of His love by giving His only Son, "That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"(John 3:16). To know Christ is more than agreeing with facts about Him—it is trusting Him, following Him, and allowing Him to transform every part of our lives. As Paul wrote, "Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord" (Philippians 3:8). When Jesus becomes the center of our lives, we receive forgiveness, peace with God, and the sure hope of eternal life, a treasure far greater than anything this world could ever offer.

If you improve your skills 1 percent every day in any area of your life, you will be 365 percent better in that area a year by this time. This means everyday you must wake up with the intention of BECOMING better than yesterday. The day will come when you will then see the compounded effect of what you have been bdoing. 24-08-2026 Bought With a Price 1 Corinthians 6:20 (AMP) “You were actually purchased with a price [by God]; therefore honor and glorify God with your body.” There are moments when we need to remind ourselves of whose we are. The world often tells us that our bodies, our lives, our time, and our choices belong entirely to us. But Scripture gives us a different perspective: we were purchased with a price. That price was not money, success, or anything earthly. It was the precious blood of Jesus Christ. When Jesus gave His life for us, He demonstrated the immeasurable value He placed on us. We are not accidents. We are not worthless. We are not forgotten. We belong to God. Because we have been purchased, Paul tells us to honor and glorify God with our bodies. This means that worship is not limited to singing songs on Sunday. Our worship is expressed through the way we live. What we say matters. What we watch matters. Where we go matters. How we treat others matters. How we care for ourselves matters. What we choose when nobody is watching matters. Every part of our lives can become an offering to God. Today, remember that your life carries a sacred value. You were bought with the greatest price imaginable. Therefore, don't live as though you belong to the world. Live like someone who belongs to Jesus. Before making a decision today, ask yourself: “Does this honor the One who gave everything for me?” You don't have to earn God's love—you already have it. Your response is simply to live in a way that reflects your gratitude for what Christ has done. Prayer Father, thank You for purchasing me at such a great price through Jesus Christ. Help me remember that my life belongs to You. Teach me to honor You with my body, my thoughts, my words, my choices, and my actions. May everything I do bring glory to Your name. Some said He was a good man. Others said He deceived people. Some recognized that He was the Christ. Others questioned where He came from. Even among the people, there was division because of Him. This reminds us that people will always have opinions about Jesus. But your salvation cannot be based on people's opinions. You must personally know Christ. Don't reject Jesus because someone else rejected Him. Don't abandon your faith because someone mocks you. Don't compromise because you want people's approval. Know whom you believe. ❤️‍🔥 📖 SEARCH THE WORD FOR YOURSELF The people questioned Jesus' teaching because they were unfamiliar with His authority. Jesus said: «“My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.” — John 7:16» This teaches us the importance of knowing God's Word. Don't build your faith solely on what someone tells you. Study Scripture. Pray for understanding. Test what you hear. Know the truth. A believer who knows God's Word is less likely to be carried away by deception. Don't just hear the Word—search it, understand it, and live it. 📖🔥 ❤️‍🔥 JESUS CAN SATISFY WHAT THE WORLD CANNOT There is a thirst inside humanity that money cannot quench. The Samaritan woman in John 4 needed Living Water. The crowd in John 6 needed the Bread of Life. And in John 7, Jesus again offers Himself as the One who satisfies the thirsty soul. The message is consistent: JESUS IS ENOUGH. When you have Christ, you have the greatest treasure. When everything else changes, Christ remains. When people leave, Christ remains. When circumstances become difficult, Christ remains. When the world cannot answer your questions, Christ remains. Come to Jesus and drink. 💧✝️ 🔥 LET THE RIVERS FLOW THROUGH YOU Jesus did not say that the living water would remain stagnant. He said: «“Out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”» A river flows. Therefore, don't keep your Christianity hidden. Let your faith be visible. Let your kindness speak. Let your character testify. Let your words carry grace. Let your life preach Christ. Someone around you may be spiritually thirsty. Your testimony may encourage them. Your prayer may strengthen them. Your invitation may bring them to church. Your witness may lead them to salvation. Let the living water flow! 🌊🔥 ✝️ JESUS WILL ALWAYS BRING A DECISION John 7 shows that people were divided because of Jesus. Some believed. Some doubted. Some opposed Him. Some wanted to arrest Him. Jesus still demands a response today. You cannot remain neutral forever. The question is not merely: “What do people say about Jesus?” The question is: “WHO IS JESUS TO YOU?” Is He your Saviour? Is He your Lord? Is He your King? Are you following Him? Are you obeying His Word? ✍🏽 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The world offers temporary satisfaction, but Jesus offers Living Water that becomes a river within us.
