Zechariah 8:16 To all who are working with Christ I would say, Wherever you can gain access to the people by the fireside, improve your opportunity. Take your Bible, and open before them its great truths. Your success will not depend so much upon your knowledge and accomplishments as upon your ability to find your way to the heart. By being social and coming close to the people, you may turn the current of their thoughts more readily than by the most able discourse. Take along the publications and ask them to read. When they see that you are sincere they will not despise any of your efforts. There is a way to reach the hardest hearts. Approach in the simplicity and sincerity and humility that will help us to reach the souls of them for whom Christ died. Allow no opportunity to pass unimproved. Visit those who live near you, and by sympathy and kindness try to reach their hearts. Visit the sick and suffering and show a kindly interest in them. If possible, do something to make them more comfortable. Through this means you can reach their hearts and speak a word for Christ. Eternity alone will reveal how far reaching such a line of labor can be. Those who do not take up this work, those who act with the indifference that some have manifested, will soon lose their first love and will begin to censure, criticize, and condemn their own brethren. Those who go forth in the spirit of the Master, seeking to reach souls with the truth, will ... become more and more vitalized as they give themselves to the service of God. It is a joyous work to open the Scriptures to others. [234]

Matthew 9:35 What a busy life Christ led! Day by day He might be seen entering the humble abodes of want and sorrow, speaking hope to the downcast and peace to the distressed. The poor and suffering received the greatest share of His attention. Children loved Him. They were drawn to Him by His ready sympathy. By His simple, loving words He settled many a difficulty arising among them. Often He took them on His knee and talked with them in a way that won their hearts.... Humble, gracious, tenderhearted, pitiful, He went about doing good, feeding the hungry, lifting up the bowed down, comforting the sorrowing. None who came to Him for aid went away unrelieved. Not a thread of selfishness was woven into the pattern He has left for His children to follow. He lived the life that He would have all live who believe on Him. It was His meat and drink to do the will of His Father. To all who came to Him for help He brought faith and hope and life. Wherever He went He carried blessing. The tender sympathies of our Saviour were aroused for fallen and suffering humanity. If you would be His followers, you must cultivate compassion and sympathy. Indifference to human woes must give place to lively interest in the sufferings of others. The widow, the orphan, the sick and the dying, will always need help. Here is an opportunity to proclaim the gospel—to hold up Jesus, the hope and consolation of all men. When the suffering body has been relieved, and you have shown a lively interest in the afflicted, the heart is opened, and you can pour in the heavenly balm. If you are looking to Jesus, and drawing from Him knowledge and strength and grace, you can impart His consolation to others, because the Comforter is with you. [231]

Daily Bible Lesson. “BEHOLD THE MAN!” THE INNOCENT SAVIOUR REJECTED FOR A CRIMINAL. Key Text: John 19:5 “Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!” This is one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the Bible. Pilate hoped that after seeing Jesus bruised, bleeding, and humiliated, the crowd would show mercy. Instead, they hardened their hearts and demanded His death. ① PILATE TRIED TO SAVE JESUS THROUGH COMPROMISE Pilate ordered Jesus to be scourged and mocked. Not because He was guilty... But because he hoped the cruel punishment would satisfy the angry crowd. Pilate thought: The people would pity Jesus. The priests would finally be satisfied. An innocent Man could be released. But compromise never satisfies evil. ② THE ENEMIES OF CHRIST SAW PILATE'S WEAKNESS The religious leaders quickly realized: Pilate was afraid. He wanted to avoid conflict. He lacked the courage to do what was right. Their determination only grew stronger. Every compromise gave them greater confidence to demand Christ's death. ③ “BEHOLD THE MAN!” Pilate presented Jesus before the multitude and declared: John 19:5 “Behold the man!” Again he testified: John 19:4 “I find no fault in Him.” Standing before the crowd was: The Son of God. Wearing a crown of thorns. His back torn by cruel scourging. His face covered with blood. Yet His expression revealed: Gentleness. Patience. Dignity. Compassion for those who hated Him. Even in suffering, Jesus displayed perfect love. ④ THE GREAT CONTRAST: JESUS OR BARABBAS Beside Jesus stood Barabbas. A hardened criminal. A rebel. A murderer. The contrast could not have been clearer. Jesus—the innocent Prince of Peace. Barabbas—the guilty lawbreaker. Yet the crowd chose the criminal... ...and rejected the spotless Lamb of God. ⑤ SOME HEARTS WERE TOUCHED Not everyone remained unmoved. Many spectators wept. Their hearts were filled with sympathy. Even the priests and rulers felt conviction deep within. They knew Jesus truly was who He claimed to be. But conviction without surrender leads to tragedy. ⑥ THE CHOICE STILL STANDS TODAY Every person must choose: Christ or the world? Truth or compromise? Obedience or rebellion? Eternal life or eternal loss? The crowd chose Barabbas. What will you choose? Joshua 24:15 “Choose you this day whom ye will serve.” LESSONS FOR US TODAY Never reject Christ for the pleasures of this world. Do not silence conviction when the Holy Spirit speaks. Stand for truth even when the majority chooses otherwise. Jesus willingly suffered so that we might receive eternal life. When a Christian goes to work each day, God holds them accountable for adding, enhancing and improving things in their workplace. Jesus told the story of three men who were each given money. One was given five bags of it, another two, and another one. The first two ‘…went and traded with them, and gained…’ (Matthew 25:16 NAS). They showed skill, initiative, and made 100 percent profit. So they were commended by their master. But the third man just punched the clock, called in sick, didn’t train, try, dare, or do. So his job review didn’t go too well. And Jesus said something that ought to make us all sit up and take notice: ‘To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.’ That means if your attitude and work ethic are poor, you’re in trouble with God. So, let’s stop and think about your job. If Jesus were your supervisor, would you do your work any differently? How would you answer the phone, type documents, treat your employees, or teach your pupils if Jesus were checking your work? As a citizen of God’s kingdom you need to periodically review your attitude on the job, solicit feedback on how you can grow, demonstrate love and grace to those you work with, make your company profitable, and enjoy the work you do. In 1948, a released christian newsletter during the time of revivalist Abraham Branham reads. “All the great outpourings of the past have had their outstanding truths. Luther’s truth was Justification by Faith. Wesley’s was Sanctification. The Baptists taught the premillennial coming of Christ. The Missionary Alliance taught Divine Healing. The Pentecostal outpouring has restored the Baptism of the Holy Ghost to its rightful place. But, the next great outpouring is going to be marked by all these other truths plus such a demonstration of the nine gifts of the Spirit as the world, not even the Apostolic world, has ever witnessed before. This revival will be short and will be the last before the Rapture of the Church.” The consolation and joy is that whatever great and wonderful experiences we have enjoyed in the past can still be restored by God if man does the needful. This is the message of Hosea to Israel and the godly. *1. Call to Return to God* a. Adam, representing the man of all ages, started with God, but departed from God and many woes followed. In order to vacate the woes, the message of God is simple, return to God. All the woes, challenges, calamities, anguish, backslidings and challenges of man have only one divine prescription: Return to God. Returning to God requires turning or change. Man is generally, reluctant to change. This is one of Newton's Laws of Motion. Willingness to turn is generally, where the problem of man lies. The turning to God requires acceptance of wrongs towards God, decisions with appropriate steps and asking God for forgiveness without self justification. It involves deliberate action of repentance. Repentance from what cause the loss of good old blessings, including repentance from sin, unforgiving spirit, bitterness against neighbours and perhaps God, love of the world, selective obedience to the command of God in any area etc., are just what God is looking for before He pours down His blessings afresh. God did not see that turning or repentance in Adam and Eve. Both of them were busy giving excuses and blaming each other. Neither fully admitted his/her obvious wrong and neither fully repented and returned to God. The repercussion was that they never got the blessing they lost back. They were driven from the beautiful, blessed and blissful garden. If they had returned to God with words of soberness and repentance, the story would have been different for them and the whole humanity. All lost blessings from God are only returned after turning and repentance from the root cause. b. The message of God is the same. *"Come, and let us return unto the LORD"*. Stop the blame game. Stop the murmuring and complain. The promise of God for the repentant is valid at all times and in all generations. *"For he hath torn, and he will heal us"*. When your garment of glory is torn, when your shining regalia of blessings is torn, when the source of your joy is torn, the immediate and uncompromisable demand of God and solution is to turn to God. *"He hath smitten, and he will bind us up"*. This is a word of assurance for those who take the courage to turn from their evil ways, carelessness and compromise. *Question* Assess your life where you have departed from God and your old consecration to God and His word. Are you willing to turn? Start today. *2. Comforting Revival Through Grace* a. Has Israel not gone too far to an irredeemable damnable and bitter experience? God, through Hosea says NO. When there is possibility and willingness to turn, the promise to restore and revive is always unbreakable. Jesus said, *"the scripture cannot be broken."* Hosea used the picture of Calvary and the resurrection of Jesus on the third day to show the reality and restoration of revival for dead bones. *"After two days will he revive us"*. After two days is the third day including all other days after the third day. It shows the beginning of revival on the third day and the continuity of revival after the third day. *"In the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight"*. The resurrection of Jesus Christ has assurably made possible the restoration of any dead soul and experiences even when it appears they are already stinking spiritually in the grave. b. The parable of dead bones in Ezekiel 37 shows that revival and restoration is possible when the Word of God is given a prominent and final say in the life of an individual, family, church or nation. All the revivals the Church has experienced in different ages at a time of total darkness were as a result of giving the Word of God the first and unquestionably place. The same applies to any individual that needs revival. Taking the Word of God at face values drives to repentance including burdened and persistent prayers. Once this is done, the rain will definitely fall and there will be repentance and restoration. *Question* Are you desirous of revival and restoration of past glories in your life? From the explanation above, what is your decision? *3. Continuous Refreshment unto Glory* a. Why blessings are lost and revival is gone is because of lack of continuity in the Old faith and consecration that brought the revival in the first place. Jesus said, *"If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples in deed"*. Disciples in deeds are different from disciples in the mouth to profession. Continuity is the key. *"Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD"*. Continuous following leads to deeper knowledge and deeper knowledge is manifested by continuous following. *"His going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth"*. The former rain is to prepare the ground for planting while the latter rain is to prepare the crop for harvesting. It is the harvesting that is generally seen, but not the planting time of rigour and sacrifice. He that sows, though not seen by many should sow in hope because harvesting is certain. Rain of the Holy Spirit is needed to sow the seed of repentance, intercession and consecration while rain of the Holy Spirit is also needed to enjoy the harvest of refreshment, restoration and revival. Continuity in sowing the seed of the Word of God and wetting it with tears of prayers and acts of consecration will bring the abundant rain and there will be overflowing joy, revival and restoration again. *Question* Are you determined to continue getting deeper into the Word, prayer and consecration without giving up until the rain falls and there are blessings and visitations from heaven again? *Prayer Points* 1.Lord, open my eyes to areas that I need to turn to you afresh and make me willing to pay the price of turning 🙏. 2.Give me the rain of the Spirit that will help me to sow with tears and deeper consecration until the abundant rain falls on my soul, nation and church 🙏. 3.I ask for power and determination to continue seeking your face without giving up and backing out 🙏. 4.Father, send the rain and awaken your Church to true restoration and revival 🙏. *HYMN:* Come Holy Spirit. *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* JOB 9-12. 2. "YOU CAN CARRY GOD’S PRESENCE WITH YOU (3)" ‘…So he is first in everything.’ Colossians 1:18 NLT THE ARK of the Covenant is mentioned in Scripture about 185 times, so it must be important. Every bit of activity in the outer court and inner court of the tabernacle was, for one purpose, to lead you into the Holy of Holies where God’s presence was. Old Testament symbols, such as the Ark, are a picture of New Testament realities. In this regard, the Ark, which was the most important piece of furniture in the tabernacle, is a picture of the Christ we love and serve. He is Lord. He is supreme. There’s no one like Him. And He alone is worthy of all praise! Paul writes: ‘Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through Him, God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through Him and for Him. He existed before everything else, and he holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is His body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So He is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through Him God reconciled everything to himself…’ (Colossians 1:15-20 NLT). Grace and mercy qualified him especially, because of the deep humility and fear of God in his life as at the time he was made king. King Saul began his reign with great promise. He was divinely chosen, physically impressive and empowered by God for leadership (1 Samuel 10:1, 9). Yet, his life ended in shame because of persistent disobedience, self-will and refusal to seek the Lord sincerely. The text not only shows the death of Saul, but also the collapse of a royal dynasty that could have enjoyed lasting honour. It reminds us that a good beginning does not guarantee a glorious ending. Only continual obedience, humility and dependence on God preserve a life, ministry, or family legacy. Those who think that they cannot lose whatever they receive from God, including eternal salvation, should learn from the life and end of Saul. *1. The Fall and Defeat of God's Giants* a. Saul and his sons were once regarded as the giants of Israel's military strength. They fought along with their father to win virtually all their battles except this last one. Even when they were not well prepared, God helped and strengthened them to be terrors to the nations around. *"So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them"* (1 Samuel 14:47). Victory was their birthright because of their allegiance to the God of heaven. He and his sons were giants in the hands of God. This time around, they all fell and were defeated the same day. They were not only captured, but were killed. What an avoidable tragedy that a promising and blessed first Royal family, that could have been a reference point of God's goodness and blessings, experienced. They all perished in a single day. b.How did they fall? It did not happen overnight. First, was the loss of focus. He allowed the enemy and jealousy to shift his attention from his divinely given responsibility to pursuing David who actually was not a threat. The deception of great position, persistence disobedience to the Word of God and the habit of taking God's warnings and Word for granted hardened his heart. The tragedy was not due merely to military weakness, but to spiritual failure that had accumulated over time. When those whom God raises fail to remain faithful, their strength cannot save them. Every believer must guard against drifting from God, regardless of past victories or present status. King Saul did not just lose his exalted blessings, but he also booked, signed and sealed he appointments to eternal condemnation in hell fire. *Question* Am I depending on past achievements or am I walking daily in humble obedience to God? *2. Never gloss over any filthiness in your heart. Ask God to cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus and remove them. If they are not removed, they will turn to untamed lions in the house. b. A leader's fall often affects many others. Saul did not die alone. An unchecked rampaging leader will bring destruction not only to himself, but to others too. Saul's end illustrates the destructive consequences of persistent rebellion and self-reliance. The greatest safeguard in times of distress is unwavering confidence in God's mercy and guidance. *Question* Does my life and leadership encourage others toward faithfulness or can my spiritual decline harm those who follow me? *3. The Final Disgrace of the Graceless and the Godless* a. After Saul's death, Israel fled, the cities were abandoned. *"They (Israel) forsook their cities and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them"*. Do we pity these godless citizens (Israelites) for losing their inheritance, including land, to the enemies? When Saul failed to concentrate on governance, but rather left the throne to chase David, did any citizen caution him apart from Samuel. Everybody kept mum. Some out of fear and some out of desire for favour while some were just nonchallant. We should be careful to humbly and politely ensure that leaders are made accountable and helped when it appears they are derailing. Leaders need our prayers and support while they are in the path of right while they need our loving and gentle reminder of the truth whenever they are in the path of wrong. Nobody, no matter how great, has immunity from falling. Lucifer had no rival, but he fell. Judas saw, lived and dined with the Lord Jesus Christ face to face, he fell. Solomon was the wisest king, but he foolishly and fatally fell. King Saul was unfaithful to God, disobeyed His Word, consulted a medium and failed to seek the Lord. Therefore, God removed him and transferred the kingdom to David. Grace rejected eventually, gives way to disgrace. It began with the breach of God's express commandment. Saul disobeyed the Lord, and followed it up, not with repentance, but with more sinful conduct. Even at the point of death, he enacted the final iniquity: suicide.* *It is not enough for nations and their institutions of administration to seek leaders to guide them. They must look for pivotal men and women who would wholly yield themselves to the shepherding and correction of God. This is key if they want a society that would thrive, prosper and withstand challenges and upheavals of statehood. Now, this requirement holds true also in the different aspects of the workforce of the church. Otherwise, their frailties would destroy them and those they are leading, as in the case of Saul.* *Our Lord is the ultimate Leader. Without Him, man would be perennially on a bumpy ride, falling into a series of perilous failures. The Church should step in to halt the slide by teaching sound scriptural doctrines to raise God-fearing leaders. We must saturate everywhere with heaven-focused citizens with our preaching and righteous lifestyle. He was divinely chosen, physically impressive and empowered by God for leadership (1 Samuel 10:1, 9). Yet, his life ended in shame because of persistent disobedience, self-will and refusal to seek the Lord sincerely. The text not only shows the death of Saul, but also the collapse of a royal dynasty that could have enjoyed lasting honour. It reminds us that a good beginning does not guarantee a glorious ending. Only continual obedience, humility and dependence on God preserve a life, ministry, or family legacy. Those who think that they cannot lose whatever they receive from God, including eternal salvation, should learn from the life and end of Saul. *1. The Fall and Defeat of God's Giants* a. Saul and his sons were once regarded as the giants of Israel's military strength. They fought along with their father to win virtually all their battles except this last one. Even when they were not well prepared, God helped and strengthened them to be terrors to the nations around. *"So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them"* (1 Samuel 14:47). Victory was their birthright because of their allegiance to the God of heaven. He and his sons were giants in the hands of God. This time around, they all fell and were defeated the same day. They were not only captured, but were killed. What an avoidable tragedy that a promising and blessed first Royal family, that could have been a reference point of God's goodness and blessings, experienced. They all perished in a single day. b.How did they fall? It did not happen overnight. First, was the loss of focus. He allowed the enemy and jealousy to shift his attention from his divinely given responsibility to pursuing David who actually was not a threat. The deception of great position, persistence disobedience to the Word of God and the habit of taking God's warnings and Word for granted hardened his heart. The tragedy was not due merely to military weakness, but to spiritual failure that had accumulated over time. When those whom God raises fail to remain faithful, their strength cannot save them. Every believer must guard against drifting from God, regardless of past victories or present status. King Saul did not just lose his exalted blessings, but he also booked, signed and sealed he appointments to eternal condemnation in hell fire. *Question* Am I depending on past achievements or am I walking daily in humble obedience to God? *2. The Forceful Decimation of a Great General* a. King Saul ended his record as the first king in Israel who committed suicide and thus, ending his God-given life forcefully. He could have perished in the battle and still made heaven if in his final hours he decided to cry to God for mercy and forgiveness. Rather than trust God in his final crisis, Saul took his own life after asking his armour-bearer to kill him. His armour-bearer refused, and Saul fell upon his own sword. His death was quickly followed by that of his sons and many loyal servants. b. If Saul had not been king and he maintained his lowly lifestyle before he became king he might have made heaven. Was it his being anointed as king that made him to perish? NO. The bitterness, envy, jealousy and hatred in his heart was never dealt with. Eventually, he grew wings and became hardened in the heart. Never gloss over any filthiness in your heart. Ask God to cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus and remove them. If they are not removed, they will turn to untamed lions in the house. b. A leader's fall often affects many others. Saul did not die alone. An unchecked rampaging leader will bring destruction not only to himself, but to others too. Saul's end illustrates the destructive consequences of persistent rebellion and self-reliance. The greatest safeguard in times of distress is unwavering confidence in God's mercy and guidance. *Question* Does my life and leadership encourage others toward faithfulness or can my spiritual decline harm those who follow me? *3. The Final Disgrace of the Graceless and the Godless* a. Grace and mercy qualified him especially, because of the deep humility and fear of God in his life as at the time he was made king. King Saul began his reign with great promise. He was divinely chosen, physically impressive and empowered by God for leadership (1 Samuel 10:1, 9). Yet, his life ended in shame because of persistent disobedience, self-will and refusal to seek the Lord sincerely. The text not only shows the death of Saul, but also the collapse of a royal dynasty that could have enjoyed lasting honour. It reminds us that a good beginning does not guarantee a glorious ending. Only continual obedience, humility and dependence on God preserve a life, ministry, or family legacy. Those who think that they cannot lose whatever they receive from God, including eternal salvation, should learn from the life and end of Saul. *1. The Fall and Defeat of God's Giants* a. Saul and his sons were once regarded as the giants of Israel's military strength. They fought along with their father to win virtually all their battles except this last one. Even when they were not well prepared, God helped and strengthened them to be terrors to the nations around. *"So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them"* (1 Samuel 14:47). Victory was their birthright because of their allegiance to the God of heaven. He and his sons were giants in the hands of God. This time around, they all fell and were defeated the same day. They were not only captured, but were killed. What an avoidable tragedy that a promising and blessed first Royal family, that could have been a reference point of God's goodness and blessings, experienced. They all perished in a single day. b.How did they fall? It did not happen overnight. First, was the loss of focus. He allowed the enemy and jealousy to shift his attention from his divinely given responsibility to pursuing David who actually was not a threat. The deception of great position, persistence disobedience to the Word of God and the habit of taking God's warnings and Word for granted hardened his heart. The tragedy was not due merely to military weakness, but to spiritual failure that had accumulated over time. When those whom God raises fail to remain faithful, their strength cannot save them. Every believer must guard against drifting from God, regardless of past victories or present status. King Saul did not just lose his exalted blessings, but he also booked, signed and sealed he appointments to eternal condemnation in hell fire. *Question* Am I depending on past achievements or am I walking daily in humble obedience to God? *2. The Forceful Decimation of a Great General* a. King Saul ended his record as the first king in Israel who committed suicide and thus, ending his God-given life forcefully. He could have perished in the battle and still made heaven if in his final hours he decided to cry to God for mercy and forgiveness. Rather than trust God in his final crisis, Saul took his own life after asking his armour-bearer to kill him. His armour-bearer refused, and Saul fell upon his own sword. His death was quickly followed by that of his sons and many loyal servants. b. If Saul had not been king and he maintained his lowly lifestyle before he became king he might have made heaven. Was it his being anointed as king that made him to perish? NO. The bitterness, envy, jealousy and hatred in his heart was never dealt with. Eventually, he grew wings and became hardened in the heart. Never gloss over any filthiness in your heart. Ask God to cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus and remove them. If they are not removed, they will turn to untamed lions in the house. b. A leader's fall often affects many others. Saul did not die alone. An unchecked rampaging leader will bring destruction not only to himself, but to others too. Saul's end illustrates the destructive consequences of persistent rebellion and self-reliance. The greatest safeguard in times of distress is unwavering confidence in God's mercy and guidance. *Question* Does my life and leadership encourage others toward faithfulness or can my spiritual decline harm those who follow me? *3. The Final Disgrace of the Graceless and the Godless* a. After Saul's death, Israel fled, the cities were abandoned. *"They (Israel) forsook their cities and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them"*. Do we pity these godless citizens (Israelites) for losing their inheritance, including land, to the enemies? When Saul failed to concentrate on governance, but rather left the throne to chase David, did any citizen caution him apart from Samuel. Everybody kept mum. Some out of fear and some out of desire for favour while some were just nonchallant. We should be careful to humbly and politely ensure that leaders are made accountable and helped when it appears they are derailing. Leaders need our prayers and support while they are in the path of right while they need our loving and gentle reminder of the truth whenever they are in the path of wrong. Nobody, no matter how great, has immunity from falling. Lucifer had no rival, but he fell. Judas saw, lived and dined with the Lord Jesus Christ face to face, he fell. Solomon was the wisest king, but he foolishly and fatally fell. King Saul was unfaithful to God, disobeyed His Word, consulted a medium and failed to seek the Lord. Therefore, God removed him and transferred the kingdom to David. Grace rejected eventually, gives way to disgrace. They must look for pivotal men and women who would wholly yield themselves to the shepherding and correction of God. This is key if they want a society that would thrive, prosper and withstand challenges and upheavals of statehood. Otherwise, their frailties would destroy them and those they are leading, as in the case of Saul.* *Our Lord is the ultimate Leader. Without Him, man would be perennially on a bumpy ride, falling into a series of perilous failures. The Church should step in to halt the slide by teaching sound scriptural doctrines to raise God-fearing leaders. We must saturate everywhere with heaven-focused citizens with our preaching and righteous lifestyle. He was divinely chosen, physically impressive and empowered by God for leadership (1 Samuel 10:1, 9). Yet, his life ended in shame because of persistent disobedience, self-will and refusal to seek the Lord sincerely. The text not only shows the death of Saul, but also the collapse of a royal dynasty that could have enjoyed lasting honour. It reminds us that a good beginning does not guarantee a glorious ending. Only continual obedience, humility and dependence on God preserve a life, ministry, or family legacy. Those who think that they cannot lose whatever they receive from God, including eternal salvation, should learn from the life and end of Saul. *1. The Fall and Defeat of God's Giants* a. Saul and his sons were once regarded as the giants of Israel's military strength. They fought along with their father to win virtually all their battles except this last one. Even when they were not well prepared, God helped and strengthened them to be terrors to the nations around. *"So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them"* (1 Samuel 14:47). Victory was their birthright because of their allegiance to the God of heaven. He and his sons were giants in the hands of God. This time around, they all fell and were defeated the same day. They were not only captured, but were killed. What an avoidable tragedy that a promising and blessed first Royal family, that could have been a reference point of God's goodness and blessings, experienced. They all perished in a single day. b.How did they fall? It did not happen overnight. First, was the loss of focus. He allowed the enemy and jealousy to shift his attention from his divinely given responsibility to pursuing David who actually was not a threat. The deception of great position, persistence disobedience to the Word of God and the habit of taking God's warnings and Word for granted hardened his heart. The tragedy was not due merely to military weakness, but to spiritual failure that had accumulated over time. When those whom God raises fail to remain faithful, their strength cannot save them. Every believer must guard against drifting from God, regardless of past victories or present status. King Saul did not just lose his exalted blessings, but he also booked, signed and sealed he appointments to eternal condemnation in hell fire. *Question* Am I depending on past achievements or am I walking daily in humble obedience to God? *2. The Forceful Decimation of a Great General* a. King Saul ended his record as the first king in Israel who committed suicide and thus, ending his God-given life forcefully. He could have perished in the battle and still made heaven if in his final hours he decided to cry to God for mercy and forgiveness. Rather than trust God in his final crisis, Saul took his own life after asking his armour-bearer to kill him. His armour-bearer refused, and Saul fell upon his own sword. His death was quickly followed by that of his sons and many loyal servants. b. If Saul had not been king and he maintained his lowly lifestyle before he became king he might have made heaven. Was it his being anointed as king that made him to perish? NO. The bitterness, envy, jealousy and hatred in his heart was never dealt with. Eventually, he grew wings and became hardened in the heart. Never gloss over any filthiness in your heart. Ask God to cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus and remove them. If they are not removed, they will turn to untamed lions in the house. b. A leader's fall often affects many others. Saul did not die alone. An unchecked rampaging leader will bring destruction not only to himself, but to others too. Saul's end illustrates the destructive consequences of persistent rebellion and self-reliance. The greatest safeguard in times of distress is unwavering confidence in God's mercy and guidance. *Question* Does my life and leadership encourage others toward faithfulness or can my spiritual decline harm those who follow me? *3. The Final Disgrace of the Graceless and the Godless* a. After Saul's death, Israel fled, the cities were abandoned. *"They (Israel) forsook their cities and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them"*. Do we pity these godless citizens (Israelites) for losing their inheritance, including land, to the enemies? When Saul failed to concentrate on governance, but rather left the throne to chase David, did any citizen caution him apart from Samuel. Everybody kept mum. Some out of fear and some out of desire for favour while some were just nonchallant. We should be careful to humbly and politely ensure that leaders are made accountable and helped when it appears they are derailing. Leaders need our prayers and support while they are in the path of right while they need our loving and gentle reminder of the truth whenever they are in the path of wrong. Nobody, no matter how great, has immunity from falling. Lucifer had no rival, but he fell. Judas saw, lived and dined with the Lord Jesus Christ face to face, he fell. Solomon was the wisest king, but he foolishly and fatally fell. King Saul was unfaithful to God, disobeyed His Word, consulted a medium and failed to seek the Lord. Therefore, God removed him and transferred the kingdom to David. Grace rejected eventually, gives way to disgrace. Never gloss over any filthiness in your heart. Ask God to cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus and remove them. If they are not removed, they will turn to untamed lions in the house. b. A leader's fall often affects many others. Saul did not die alone. An unchecked rampaging leader will bring destruction not only to himself, but to others too. Saul's end illustrates the destructive consequences of persistent rebellion and self-reliance. The greatest safeguard in times of distress is unwavering confidence in God's mercy and guidance. *Question* Does my life and leadership encourage others toward faithfulness or can my spiritual decline harm those who follow me? *3. The text not only shows the death of Saul, but also the collapse of a royal dynasty that could have enjoyed lasting honour. It reminds us that a good beginning does not guarantee a glorious ending. Only continual obedience, humility and dependence on God preserve a life, ministry, or family legacy. Those who think that they cannot lose whatever they receive from God, including eternal salvation, should learn from the life and end of Saul. *1. The Fall and Defeat of God's Giants* a. Grace and mercy qualified him especially, because of the deep humility and fear of God in his life as at the time he was made king. King Saul began his reign with great promise. He was divinely chosen, physically impressive and empowered by God for leadership (1 Samuel 10:1, 9). Yet, his life ended in shame because of persistent disobedience, self-will and refusal to seek the Lord sincerely. The text not only shows the death of Saul, but also the collapse of a royal dynasty that could have enjoyed lasting honour. It reminds us that a good beginning does not guarantee a glorious ending. Only continual obedience, humility and dependence on God preserve a life, ministry, or family legacy. Those who think that they cannot lose whatever they receive from God, including eternal salvation, should learn from the life and end of Saul. *1. The Fall and Defeat of God's Giants* a. Saul and his sons were once regarded as the giants of Israel's military strength. They fought along with their father to win virtually all their battles except this last one. Even when they were not well prepared, God helped and strengthened them to be terrors to the nations around. *"So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them"* (1 Samuel 14:47). Victory was their birthright because of their allegiance to the God of heaven. He and his sons were giants in the hands of God. This time around, they all fell and were defeated the same day. They were not only captured, but were killed. What an avoidable tragedy that a promising and blessed first Royal family, that could have been a reference point of God's goodness and blessings, experienced. They all perished in a single day. b.How did they fall? It did not happen overnight. First, was the loss of focus. He allowed the enemy and jealousy to shift his attention from his divinely given responsibility to pursuing David who actually was not a threat. The deception of great position, persistence disobedience to the Word of God and the habit of taking God's warnings and Word for granted hardened his heart. The tragedy was not due merely to military weakness, but to spiritual failure that had accumulated over time. When those whom God raises fail to remain faithful, their strength cannot save them. Every believer must guard against drifting from God, regardless of past victories or present status. King Saul did not just lose his exalted blessings, but he also booked, signed and sealed he appointments to eternal condemnation in hell fire. *Question* Am I depending on past achievements or am I walking daily in humble obedience to God? *2. The Forceful Decimation of a Great General* a. King Saul ended his record as the first king in Israel who committed suicide and thus, ending his God-given life forcefully. He could have perished in the battle and still made heaven if in his final hours he decided to cry to God for mercy and forgiveness. Rather than trust God in his final crisis, Saul took his own life after asking his armour-bearer to kill him. His armour-bearer refused, and Saul fell upon his own sword. His death was quickly followed by that of his sons and many loyal servants. b. If Saul had not been king and he maintained his lowly lifestyle before he became king he might have made heaven. Was it his being anointed as king that made him to perish? NO. The bitterness, envy, jealousy and hatred in his heart was never dealt with. Eventually, he grew wings and became hardened in the heart. Never gloss over any filthiness in your heart. Ask God to cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus and remove them. If they are not removed, they will turn to untamed lions in the house. b. A leader's fall often affects many others. Saul did not die alone. An unchecked rampaging leader will bring destruction not only to himself, but to others too. Saul's end illustrates the destructive consequences of persistent rebellion and self-reliance. The greatest safeguard in times of distress is unwavering confidence in God's mercy and guidance. *Question* Does my life and leadership encourage others toward faithfulness or can my spiritual decline harm those who follow me? *3. The Final Disgrace of the Graceless and the Godless* a. After Saul's death, Israel fled, the cities were abandoned. *"They (Israel) forsook their cities and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them"*. Do we pity these godless citizens (Israelites) for losing their inheritance, including land, to the enemies? When Saul failed to concentrate on governance, but rather left the throne to chase David, did any citizen caution him apart from Samuel. Everybody kept mum. Some out of fear and some out of desire for favour while some were just nonchallant. We should be careful to humbly and politely ensure that leaders are made accountable and helped when it appears they are derailing. Leaders need our prayers and support while they are in the path of right while they need our loving and gentle reminder of the truth whenever they are in the path of wrong. Nobody, no matter how great, has immunity from falling. Lucifer had no rival, but he fell. Judas saw, lived and dined with the Lord Jesus Christ face to face, he fell. Solomon was the wisest king, but he foolishly and fatally fell. King Saul was unfaithful to God, disobeyed His Word, consulted a medium and failed to seek the Lord. Therefore, God removed him and transferred the kingdom to David. Grace rejected eventually, gives way to disgrace. We are not worthy to be called Your children. We have strayed from Your commandments, choosing our own paths. We’ve known Your ways but have not always walked in them. We humbly confess all our wrongdoings and implore Your forgiveness. We long to experience more deeply the love You have for us. Help us to truly believe in this love and to understand its greatness. We are like little children, unaware of the divine love that watches over us. If we truly knew this love, we would never doubt or be afraid. We desire to feel this love that never fails and never forgets. Help us to be aware of Your divine care and affection throughout this day. With this awareness, nothing shall disturb us, dampen our enthusiasm, or break our peace. Cares won’t vex us, temptations won’t overpower us, and dangers won’t alarm us. Our faces will shine with the grace that lives within us. We ask for Your help in all our duties today, that we may do our work faithfully—without carelessness or negligence, but with diligence in all things. "YOU CAN CARRY GOD’S PRESENCE WITH YOU (3)" ‘…So he is first in everything.’ Colossians 1:18 NLT THE ARK of the Covenant is mentioned in Scripture about 185 times, so it must be important. Every bit of activity in the outer court and inner court of the tabernacle was, for one purpose, to lead you into the Holy of Holies where God’s presence was. Old Testament symbols, such as the Ark, are a picture of New Testament realities. In this regard, the Ark, which was the most important piece of furniture in the tabernacle, is a picture of the Christ we love and serve. He is Lord. He is supreme. There’s no one like Him. And He alone is worthy of all praise! Paul writes: ‘Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through Him, God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through Him and for Him. He existed before everything else, and he holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is His body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. Grace and mercy qualified him especially, because of the deep humility and fear of God in his life as at the time he was made king. King Saul began his reign with great promise. He was divinely chosen, physically impressive and empowered by God for leadership (1 Samuel 10:1, 9). Yet, his life ended in shame because of persistent disobedience, self-will and refusal to seek the Lord sincerely. The text not only shows the death of Saul, but also the collapse of a royal dynasty that could have enjoyed lasting honour. It reminds us that a good beginning does not guarantee a glorious ending. Only continual obedience, humility and dependence on God preserve a life, ministry, or family legacy. Those who think that they cannot lose whatever they receive from God, including eternal salvation, should learn from the life and end of Saul. *1. The Fall and Defeat of God's Giants* a. Saul and his sons were once regarded as the giants of Israel's military strength. They fought along with their father to win virtually all their battles except this last one. Even when they were not well prepared, God helped and strengthened them to be terrors to the nations around. *"So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them"* (1 Samuel 14:47). Victory was their birthright because of their allegiance to the God of heaven. He and his sons were giants in the hands of God. This time around, they all fell and were defeated the same day. They were not only captured, but were killed. What an avoidable tragedy that a promising and blessed first Royal family, that could have been a reference point of God's goodness and blessings, experienced. They all perished in a single day. b.How did they fall? It did not happen overnight. First, was the loss of focus. He allowed the enemy and jealousy to shift his attention from his divinely given responsibility to pursuing David who actually was not a threat. The deception of great position, persistence disobedience to the Word of God and the habit of taking God's warnings and Word for granted hardened his heart. The tragedy was not due merely to military weakness, but to spiritual failure that had accumulated over time. When those whom God raises fail to remain faithful, their strength cannot save them. Every believer must guard against drifting from God, regardless of past victories or present status. King Saul did not just lose his exalted blessings, but he also booked, signed and sealed he appointments to eternal condemnation in hell fire. *Question* Am I depending on past achievements or am I walking daily in humble obedience to God? *2. The Forceful Decimation of a Great General* a. King Saul ended his record as the first king in Israel who committed suicide and thus, ending his God-given life forcefully. He could have perished in the battle and still made heaven if in his final hours he decided to cry to God for mercy and forgiveness. Rather than trust God in his final crisis, Saul took his own life after asking his armour-bearer to kill him. His armour-bearer refused, and Saul fell upon his own sword. His death was quickly followed by that of his sons and many loyal servants. b. If Saul had not been king and he maintained his lowly lifestyle before he became king he might have made heaven. Was it his being anointed as king that made him to perish? NO. The bitterness, envy, jealousy and hatred in his heart was never dealt with. Eventually, he grew wings and became hardened in the heart. Never gloss over any filthiness in your heart. Ask God to cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus and remove them. If they are not removed, they will turn to untamed lions in the house. b. A leader's fall often affects many others. Saul did not die alone. An unchecked rampaging leader will bring destruction not only to himself, but to others too. Saul's end illustrates the destructive consequences of persistent rebellion and self-reliance. The greatest safeguard in times of distress is unwavering confidence in God's mercy and guidance. *Question* Does my life and leadership encourage others toward faithfulness or can my spiritual decline harm those who follow me? *3. The Final Disgrace of the Graceless and the Godless* a. After Saul's death, Israel fled, the cities were abandoned. *"They (Israel) forsook their cities and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them"*. Do we pity these godless citizens (Israelites) for losing their inheritance, including land, to the enemies? When Saul failed to concentrate on governance, but rather left the throne to chase David, did any citizen caution him apart from Samuel. Everybody kept mum. Some out of fear and some out of desire for favour while some were just nonchallant. We should be careful to humbly and politely ensure that leaders are made accountable and helped when it appears they are derailing. Leaders need our prayers and support while they are in the path of right while they need our loving and gentle reminder of the truth whenever they are in the path of wrong. Nobody, no matter how great, has immunity from falling. Lucifer had no rival, but he fell. Judas saw, lived and dined with the Lord Jesus Christ face to face, he fell. Solomon was the wisest king, but he foolishly and fatally fell. King Saul was unfaithful to God, disobeyed His Word, consulted a medium and failed to seek the Lord. Therefore, God removed him and transferred the kingdom to David. Grace rejected eventually, gives way to disgrace. They must look for pivotal men and women who would wholly yield themselves to the shepherding and correction of God. This is key if they want a society that would thrive, prosper and withstand challenges and upheavals of statehood. Now, this requirement holds true also in the different aspects of the workforce of the church. Otherwise, their frailties would destroy them and those they are leading, as in the case of Saul.* *Our Lord is the ultimate Leader. Without Him, man would be perennially on a bumpy ride, falling into a series of perilous failures. The Church should step in to halt the slide by teaching sound scriptural doctrines to raise God-fearing leaders. We must saturate everywhere with heaven-focused citizens with our preaching and righteous lifestyle. Yet, his life ended in shame because of persistent disobedience, self-will and refusal to seek the Lord sincerely. The text not only shows the death of Saul, but also the collapse of a royal dynasty that could have enjoyed lasting honour. It reminds us that a good beginning does not guarantee a glorious ending. Only continual obedience, humility and dependence on God preserve a life, ministry, or family legacy. Those who think that they cannot lose whatever they receive from God, including eternal salvation, should learn from the life and end of Saul. *1. The Fall and Defeat of God's Giants* a. Saul and his sons were once regarded as the giants of Israel's military strength. They fought along with their father to win virtually all their battles except this last one. Even when they were not well prepared, God helped and strengthened them to be terrors to the nations around. *"So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them"* (1 Samuel 14:47). Victory was their birthright because of their allegiance to the God of heaven. He and his sons were giants in the hands of God. This time around, they all fell and were defeated the same day. They were not only captured, but were killed. What an avoidable tragedy that a promising and blessed first Royal family, that could have been a reference point of God's goodness and blessings, experienced. They all perished in a single day. b.How did they fall? It did not happen overnight. First, was the loss of focus. He allowed the enemy and jealousy to shift his attention from his divinely given responsibility to pursuing David who actually was not a threat. The deception of great position, persistence disobedience to the Word of God and the habit of taking God's warnings and Word for granted hardened his heart. The tragedy was not due merely to military weakness, but to spiritual failure that had accumulated over time. When those whom God raises fail to remain faithful, their strength cannot save them. Every believer must guard against drifting from God, regardless of past victories or present status. King Saul did not just lose his exalted blessings, but he also booked, signed and sealed he appointments to eternal condemnation in hell fire. *Question* Am I depending on past achievements or am I walking daily in humble obedience to God? *2. The Forceful Decimation of a Great General* a. King Saul ended his record as the first king in Israel who committed suicide and thus, ending his God-given life forcefully. He could have perished in the battle and still made heaven if in his final hours he decided to cry to God for mercy and forgiveness. Rather than trust God in his final crisis, Saul took his own life after asking his armour-bearer to kill him. His armour-bearer refused, and Saul fell upon his own sword. His death was quickly followed by that of his sons and many loyal servants. b. If Saul had not been king and he maintained his lowly lifestyle before he became king he might have made heaven. Was it his being anointed as king that made him to perish? NO. The bitterness, envy, jealousy and hatred in his heart was never dealt with. Eventually, he grew wings and became hardened in the heart. Never gloss over any filthiness in your heart. Ask God to cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus and remove them. If they are not removed, they will turn to untamed lions in the house. b. A leader's fall often affects many others. Saul did not die alone. An unchecked rampaging leader will bring destruction not only to himself, but to others too. Saul's end illustrates the destructive consequences of persistent rebellion and self-reliance. The greatest safeguard in times of distress is unwavering confidence in God's mercy and guidance. *Question* Does my life and leadership encourage others toward faithfulness or can my spiritual decline harm those who follow me? *3. The Final Disgrace of the Graceless and the Godless* a. After Saul's death, Israel fled, the cities were abandoned. *"They (Israel) forsook their cities and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them"*. Do we pity these godless citizens (Israelites) for losing their inheritance, including land, to the enemies? When Saul failed to concentrate on governance, but rather left the throne to chase David, did any citizen caution him apart from Samuel. Everybody kept mum. Some out of fear and some out of desire for favour while some were just nonchallant. We should be careful to humbly and politely ensure that leaders are made accountable and helped when it appears they are derailing. Leaders need our prayers and support while they are in the path of right while they need our loving and gentle reminder of the truth whenever they are in the path of wrong. Nobody, no matter how great, has immunity from falling. Lucifer had no rival, but he fell. Judas saw, lived and dined with the Lord Jesus Christ face to face, he fell. Solomon was the wisest king, but he foolishly and fatally fell. King Saul was unfaithful to God, disobeyed His Word, consulted a medium and failed to seek the Lord. Therefore, God removed him and transferred the kingdom to David. Grace rejected eventually, gives way to disgrace. It began with the breach of God's express commandment. Saul disobeyed the Lord, and followed it up, not with repentance, but with more sinful conduct. Even at the point of death, he enacted the final iniquity: suicide.* *It is not enough for nations and their institutions of administration to seek leaders to guide them. They must look for pivotal men and women who would wholly yield themselves to the shepherding and correction of God. This is key if they want a society that would thrive, prosper and withstand challenges and upheavals of statehood. Now, this requirement holds true also in the different aspects of the workforce of the church. Otherwise, their frailties would destroy them and those they are leading, as in the case of Saul.* *Our Lord is the ultimate Leader. Without Him, man would be perennially on a bumpy ride, falling into a series of perilous failures. The Church should step in to halt the slide by teaching sound scriptural doctrines to raise God-fearing leaders. We must saturate everywhere with heaven-focused citizens with our preaching and righteous lifestyle.
