• Did you know?
Joseph's wife was Egyptian. Almost nobody talks about her, or how controversial that actually was.
Genesis chapter forty-one says the Pharaoh himself gave her to Joseph. Her name was Asenath. Her father was the priest of On, the center of Egyptian sun worship, the highest religious position in the country. family that worshipped the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, married the daughter of Egypt's top pagan priest.
No conversion scene. No moment where she rejects her father's gods. Scripture never mentions any of that. She simply becomes his wife, and later, the mother of his two sons.
Those two sons were Manasseh and Ephraim.
Genesis chapter forty-eight records something almost nobody talks about either. Jacob personally blessed those two grandsons, placing them equal to Reuben and Simeon, his own original sons. Full inheritance. Full standing. No hesitation.
Which means the bloodline of a pagan sun priest's daughter became the direct root of two entire tribes of Israel.
Here's where it gets stranger. Joseph died in Egypt, generations before the Exodus ever happened. But before he died, he made his family promise something. Carry my bones out of this country when you finally leave.
Genesis chapter fifty records that promise. Exodus chapter thirteen records it kept. Moses himself carried Joseph's bones out of Egypt, centuries later, exactly as promised.
So the son of an Egyptian priestess didn't walk out of Egypt. Joseph bones did, carried by the very nation his sons helped build.

    The Way Of Health
They found written in the Law, which the LORD had commanded through Moses, that the Israelites were to live in booths during the feast of the seventh month.

    Nehemiah 8:14
The way of health is dramatically demonstrated for us in the closing verses of this chapter. God had anticipated the needs of these people. Centuries before, He had provided a most remarkable visual aid to remind them of the truth that would keep them from further destruction. This is the Feast of Tabernacles, a reminder that they were called as a people out of Egypt. Their departure was sudden and precipitous. They were not even to sit down when they ate the Passover meal. They had to eat it standing, with their staffs in their hands, dressed in traveling clothes, ready to leave. They went out at a word of command and left Egypt in one night. When they got into the desert, one day's journey out, and night fell, where were they to find shelter? Moses had been told by God that they were to collect boughs and tree limbs and build booths for shelter. Then God ordained that they were to do this once every year. Even though later they had homes to dwell in, they were to build these booths and live in them for seven days. This was to teach them that they were always pilgrims and strangers on the earth. This world was not their home. All the great blessings of life would not necessarily be found in this present time but were waiting for them in glory. Therefore, they did not need to be distressed if they did not have everything that those around them were trying to get in this life.

That is the truth that will deliver us from the pressures of the times. We must hold things lightly. We must not think that houses, cars, money, and material gain are all that important. Even if we lack these things, the great treasures of our life remain untouched. To strive constantly to gain what everyone else has is a mistake. God teaches us to hold these things lightly. We must never forget that we are in the world but not of it. We are never to settle down here for good. I love the way C. S. Lewis has put it: Our kind heavenly Father has provided many wonderful inns for us along our journey, but he takes special care to see that we never mistake any of them for home. We are pilgrims and strangers, passing through this world. We are involved in it, deeply sometimes, but we are never to see ourselves as a part of it.

What will enable us to remember that? Verse 18 gives us the answer. Every day they read the Scripture. Every day they saturated themselves in the thinking of God. That is what makes for realism: When you think like God thinks, you are thinking realistically. You are beginning to see yourself the way you really are. You are seeing your children, your home, and your nation the way they really are. For the first time you are able to divest yourself of the illusions and delusions of a mistaken, confused world. You are beginning to work toward wholeness, healing, and strengthening of the things that abide.

What a wonderful picture this is, Lord, of the fact that I am a stranger on this earth. Far too often I have lived as if this were my home. Renew my mind with Your truth that there is so much more to live for than what this world offers.

    “WHO GOD SAYS I AM”
    I BEAR GOD’S IMAGE
    Genesis 1:27 (LLV) —
“So God created mankind in His own image. In the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.”
    Before anyone
    could earn
    a reputation,
    God gave humanity
    a dignity
    that could never
    be earned.
    He created us
    in His image.
    That does not mean
    we look
    physically
    like God.
    It means
    something far deeper.
    God created us
    with the capacity
    to know Him.
    To love.
    To reason.
    To create.
    To choose.
    To show compassion.
    To live
    in relationship
    with Him
    and with
    one another.
    Every human life
    therefore carries
    a dignity
    that does not depend
    upon achievement.
    The wealthy
    and the poor.
    The strong
    and the weak.
    The young
    and the old.
    The celebrated
    and the forgotten.
    Every person
    we meet
    bears
    the image
    of the Creator.
    Sin has damaged
    the way
    we reflect
    that image.
    But it has not
    erased
    our value.
    And in Christ,
    God is restoring
    what sin
    has distorted,
    shaping us
    more and more
    to reflect
    His character.
    That changes
    how we see
    ourselves.
    We do not need
    the world
    to tell us
    that we matter.
    Our Creator
    already has.
    But it should also
    change
    how we see
    others.
    The difficult person.
    The stranger.
    The person
    who looks,
    thinks,
    or lives
    differently
    from us.
    They too
    carry
    the dignity
    God placed
    upon human life
    at creation.
    Perhaps one
    of the greatest ways
    we can honor
    the image of God
    within ourselves
    is by learning
    to recognize
    His image
    in others.
A new beginning remembers its origin:
I have worth because I was created by God, and every person I meet deserves dignity because they too bear the image of their Creator.
Reflection: Would the way I treat people change if I consciously remembered that every person I meet has been created in the image of God?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for creating me in Your image and giving my life a worth that does not depend upon what I accomplish. Continue restoring Your likeness within me through Christ. Open my eyes to recognize the dignity You have given every person, and help me treat others with the compassion, patience, and respect that reflect Your heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • Your conscience is the voice of your spirit.
When you drink cold water, is it a sin? Your conscience can only lead you to the level of your knowledge. Do you believe drinking cold water is a sin? Every time you take cold water, your conscience will condemn you.
Your conscience is the voice of your spirit, your heart. As long as you believe drinking cold water is wrong, every time you drink it, your heart will condemn you. It is not the Holy Spirit that is condeming you; it is your heart, based on its indoctrination, as it has been taught.

Because your heart has the nature of God, whenever the truth of God comes in humility, your heart will embrace it because it knows the voice of God. “My sheep know My voice, and the stranger’s voice they will not follow.” But because you are young in the things of God and you have been taught wrongly, whatever you are taught, you will walk in until the truth dawns on your spirit.

1 John 3:18–20. We are born of the Word of God; we are of the truth. But you may have been taught wrongly. You may have been educated with some kind of religion.

1 John 3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.”
You know, sometimes your heart will condemn you. Now, it is telling you that if your heart condemns you, it does not mean something is wrong. God is greater than your heart and knows all things.
It is not the Holy Ghost that is condeming you; that was your heart.

1 John 3:21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God". See, when there is no condemnation in your heart, you are confident.

It says, “Nevertheless, if your heart condemns you, God is greater than your heart.” It did not say, “If your heart condemns you, that means God is condemning you or if your heart condemns you, that means you are hearing from God. Hallelujah!

Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us".
He is not telling you that it is Christ who condemns you. He is telling you that the One who died for you is Christ. He says God does not condemn you.

Romans 8:1: "There is therefore..." What does it you mean “those who walk after the flesh and not after the Spirit”? It is saying that you should not go after the flesh; don’t mind the things of the flesh. But walk in the Spirit not according to your senses, that’s the life He wants you to live.
    Blessed be God!

I don’t live by the senses; I live by the Spirit.
Don’t struggle. It says, “Let go.” Let the Holy Spirit bear you on eagle’s wings.

THEME: THE WEIGHT OF COVENANT I

    AUTHOR: PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE

MEMORISE: "My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips." Psalm 89:34

    READ: Genesis 17:1-8
1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.
5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.
6 And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
8 And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land wherein thou art a stranger, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.

    MESSAGE:
In today's Bible reading, God made a covenant with Abram and promised to make him a father of many nations, then changed his name to Abraham. God never lies, so all the promises that He made to Abraham were fulfilled. Numbers 23:19 says: "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" When God makes a covenant with a person, He always fulfils His part, and this gives the fellow access to everything he or she will ever need on earth. These things include long life, prosperity, favour, blessings, joy, peace, divine health, and everything good. The devil, on the other hand, is unable to keep any covenant he makes. He breaks his promises at will because he is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44).

People often enter into covenants with other parties to receive something from them, while also giving something in return. The real weight of a covenant, however, comes when one of the parties involved is unable to fulfil their obligations. In most cases, a heavy weight of death is the consequence for breaking a covenant.

When people join secret societies, they enter into covenants. When they do not do the things they are asked to do in the group, the penalty is usually death. You might be asking yourself, "Why would anybody want to join a cult knowing that it could lead to their death?" Some people claim that they join secret societies because they need protection, while others say that it is for prosperity and other benefits. It is important to note that the devil lures them into such societies with the promise of those things, but in return, he takes their souls and destroys them. What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul (Matthew 16:26)? A soul is too heavy a weight for anyone to surrender to the devil.

Beloved, do not allow the devil to tempt you into establishing an evil covenant with empty promises, and if you have entered into any covenant with hell and signed a pact with satan, Jesus can set you free if you run to Him. He will not cast away anyone who comes to Him (John 6:37). I pray that the Lord will establish His covenant of peace with you and your household, in Jesus' name.

    KEY POINT:
Any covenant that is made with the devil is based on lies.

    BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:

HYMN 11: STANDING ON THE PROMISES OF CHRIST MY KING
1 Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

    Chorus:
    Standing, standing,
    Standing on the promises of God my Saviour;
    Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

2 Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

3 Standing on the promises I now can see
    Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.

4 Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.

5 Standing on the promises I shall not fall,
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call.
Resting in my Saviour as my All in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL DATE: FRIDAY, AUGUST 14TH, 2026 THEME: THE WEIGHT OF COVENANT I AUTHOR: PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE MEMORISE: "My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips." Psalm 89:34 READ: Genesis 17:1-8 1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. 2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. 3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, 4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. MESSAGE: In today's Bible reading, God made a covenant with Abram and promised to make him a father of many nations, then changed his name to Abraham. The righteous is delivered from trouble, And it comes to the wicked instead. 9. The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor, But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered. 10. The wicked man does deceptive work, But he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward. 19. As righteousness leads to life, So he who pursues evil pursues it to his own death. 20. Those who are of a perverse heart are an abomination to the LORD, But the blameless in their ways are His delight. 21. Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished; But the posterity of the righteous will be delivered. 22. As a ring of gold in a swine’s snout, So is a lovely woman who lacks discretion. 23. The desire of the righteous is only good, But the expectation of the wicked is wrath. 24. There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty. 25. The generous soul will be made rich, And he who waters will also be watered himself. 26. The people will curse him who withholds grain, But blessing will be on the head of him who sells it. 27. He who earnestly seeks good finds favor, But trouble will come to him who seeks evil. 28. He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like foliage. 29. He who troubles his own house will inherit the wind, And the fool will be servant to the wise of heart. 30. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise. 31.
