Good morning, brethren.
1. Our morning prayer focuses on "Praising God's compassion."
2. "Spiritual Adventure." Are you ready to embark on a spiritual adventure?
3a. Do you know God's special book and how great it is?
4. Do you know what "merry" means?
5. Do you know what's so funny about money?
To know more, read the message below:
1. Morning Prayer
The LORD [is] gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The LORD [is] good to all: and his tender mercies [are] over all his works. ⏤ Psalm 145:8-9
God’s mercy is deeper than we can comprehend and reaches further than we imagine. ⏤ John Newton
O God, our Father, we praise Your name; we extol You; we worship You! You are great and greatly to be praised; Your greatness is unsearchable! One generation shall praise Your works to another and shall declare Your mighty acts. We would speak of the glorious honor of Your majesty and of Your wondrous works. We would make known Your mercy.
You, Lord, are gracious and full of compassion—slow to anger and of great mercy. You are good to all—Your tender mercies are over all Your works. All Your works shall praise You, and Your saints shall bless You. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations. You uphold Your children who fall and raise up all those who are bowed down. The eyes of all wait upon You, and You give them their food in due season. You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. You are near unto all who call upon You—to all that call upon You in truth. You will fulfill the desire of those who fear You; You also will hear their cry and will save them. You preserve all those who love You.
We thank You that we may have such assured confidence in You. May we have grace to live before the world, so as to prove our sincerity. Help us to keep the vows we made on Sunday when we went to Your sanctuary. May our weekday life be as good as our Sunday promises. The spirit is willing—we desire to live worthily; but the flesh is weak. Strengthen all good purposes in our hearts, and may we be enabled to live righteously in the world. We ask all, with the forgiveness of our sins, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

MORNING TEA. THE WORD FOR TODAY
SUNDAY DECEMBER 21, 2025.
"SPIRITUAL ADVENTURES"
‘God…will never give up on you.’ 1 Corinthians 1:9 TM
THINK BEING a Christian isn’t exciting? Check out these headlines. Man in desert discovers burning bush that can’t be extinguished. Sea opens and thousands walk through on dry land. Giant who threatened a nation killed by teen with slingshot. Jewish girl saves her people from destruction. Three young rebels survive blazing furnace. Man brought back from the dead after four days. City walls mysteriously fall. Preacher swallowed by giant fish and lives to tell the tale. Prophet caught up to heaven in a fiery chariot. These aren’t from the tabloids; they’re from Scripture. Adventure means ‘exciting and dangerous undertakings’. When you embark on the spiritual adventure Paul mentions, you can expect God to test your faith in ways you never imagined. The Bible talks about those ‘who through faith conquered kingdoms…shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength’ (Hebrews 11:33-34 NIV). John Eldredge says: ‘Adventure, with all its requisite danger and wildness, is a deeply spiritual longing written into the soul of man…Moses doesn’t encounter the living God at the shopping centre. He finds him in the deserts of Sinai…Deep in a man’s heart are fundamental questions that cannot be answered at the kitchen table…it’s fear that keeps
Moses Ishaku at home where things are neat and orderly and under his control.’ When God wants to do something wonderful through you, He has to get you from where you are to where He is. How about it: Are you ready to embark on a spiritual adventure with God?

Sam was very excited to start his university programme. He was determined to become an engineer one day, and he worked hard in his academic programme. But as time went by, Sam started to get lazy. He skipped classes, didn't study much, and even failed in some of his courses.
When it came to the time of graduation, Sam was shocked to find out that he did not make the list of graduands. He had not completed all his courses, and he had to carry over some. Sam felt really sad and disappointed. He wished he had worked harder and stayed focused on his goals.
*To have your name in God's special Book, you must repent and give your life to Jesus. Friends of Jesus should not get distracted by worldly things but stay focused on God and live a holy life. Heaven is too important to miss. With God's help, we will make it in Jesus' name.*

What does Merry Mean?

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God . . .
—Luke 2:13
When at this season of the year we wish our friends a “Merry Christmas,” it is essential to realize that true merriment of heart is contingent upon the recognition of the truth that Christ was born in Bethlehem for our salvation. The word “merry” is from an old Anglo-Saxon word which sometimes meant “famous,” “illustrious,” “great,” or “mighty.” Originally, to be merry did not imply to be merely mirthful, but strong and gallant. It was in this sense that gallant soldiers were called “merry men.” Favorable weather was called “merry weather.” Brisk winds were called a “merry gale.” Spenser speaks of London as “merry London.” The word “merry” carries with it the double thought of “might” and “mirth,” and is used both ways in Scripture. One of the early Christmas carols was “God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen.” The Christian is to engage in spiritual merriment as he thinks upon the fact that, through the redemption, he becomes a child of God’s family. The Bible teaches that the angels made merry at Christ’s birth.
Prayer for the day
This Christmas my heart is indeed merry when I think of Your birth, dear Lord. I rejoice with the angels and praise Your holy name!

What’s So Funny About Money? – Today’s Youth Devotion
What’s So Funny About Money?
Bible Reading: Matthew 6:22-24
You cannot serve both God and money. Matthew 6:24
DID YOU HEAR about Fred and Frank, the two bungling counterfeiters? These dimwits printed a pile of money, but this phony currency was really phony. Instead of printing $20, $50, or $100 bills, they printed thousands of $18 bills.
“How are we going to spend our money?” Fred said to Frank. “Everybody around here knows that our $18 bills are fakes.”
“I have an idea,” said Frank. “Let’s haul the money way out in the backwoods. Maybe they’ll change some of our bills for real money.”
So Fred and Frank took a sack of phony money and started driving into the hills. Eventually they drove up to an old, broken-down general store. “These people won’t think twice about changing an $18 bill,” Fred and Frank agreed.
They walked into the store and approached the old clerk behind the counter. “Would you be able to make change for us?” said Fred.
“I reckon I will,” said the store clerk. “What do you need?”
Frank answered, “Well, can you change this $18 bill?”
“Sure enough,” the store clerk said, reaching for the till.
Fred turned to Frank and winked. Their plan seemed to be working.
“By the way,” said the store clerk, “which kind of bills would you like in return two nines or three sixes?”
If money is always at the center of your life, you will have more problems than Fred and Frank.
Money can be a demanding master. The more you accumulate, the more you want. The more stuff you acquire with money, the more stuff you itch to have. And the more you stockpile money and stuff, the less you want to share with others.
Jesus put it all on the line: You can’t serve God and money. When money is your master, you want to grab and hoard and spend on yourself. When God is your master, you learn to share with people in need and to give to others. For Christians, money is simply a tool to serve others. That doesn’t mean you have to give away all your money and possessions. It just means you don’t let money or your desire to stuff yourself with stuff tell you what to do with your life.
If the only things dancing in your head right now are all the things you want to get this Christmas, you might be serving the wrong master. Let God change your heart as you contemplate all you can give to others at this giving time of the year.
REFLECT: What is dominating your thoughts right now-giving or getting?
PRAY: Father, build in me the kind of giving heart that you have-the one that was so selfless that you sent your Son to earth.
