As Jesus and His disciples cross the Sea of Galilee, a violent storm suddenly arises. The waves crash into the boat and the disciples become overwhelmed with fear, believing they are about to perish. Meanwhile Jesus is asleep in the boat. The disciples wake Him in panic, asking if He cares that they are about to drown. Jesus stands and speaks directly to the storm. With a simple command He rebukes the wind and says to the sea Peace, be still. Immediately the wind stops and the waters become calm. This moment reveals the authority of Christ over creation itself. The same voice that spoke the world into existence now commands the storm and it obeys. What terrified the disciples was completely subject to the authority of Jesus. When she heard that Jesus was passing through the crowd, she believed that if she could simply touch His garment she would be healed. With determination and quiet faith, she pressed through the crowd and reached out to touch Him. Immediately the flow of blood stopped and she felt in her body that she was healed.
