AOV#6 PRAYER by CARLA CAREY My husband and I steward a simple prayer ministry that we believe God Himself initiated. All glory to Him He is good! We certainly pray in church gatherings and in our living room, but some of our sweetest moments happen “on the way.” Matthew 18:20 reminds us that whenever two or three gather in Jesus’ name whether in a parking lot, a grocery aisle, or a doctor’s waiting room He is present, and the place becomes holy ground. Often the people we approach turn around and ask to pray for us a gift we never take for granted. While a passer-by may occasionally object, most encounters end with grateful smiles, hugs, or even tears. Once a store manager asked us not to pray aloud after a customer complained. We paused briefly, then sensed the Spirit nudging us to continue; Acts 5:29 “We must obey God rather than men” came to mind. In another shop a clerk simply said, “No praying in here,” so we stepped outside and finished the prayer there. During seasons when we couldn’t go out especially the COVID-19 lockdown God flipped the script and brought people to our door. Repairmen, painters, and neighbors arrived with needs, and the Lord met them. We now pray online and by phone as well. The Holy Spirit is not limited by distance or bandwidth! If God prompts you to step out in similar ways, do it. Expect the occasional “thank you,” maybe a tear-filled hug, and always the joy of seeing Jesus work. Keep running the race marked out for us Hebrews 12:1-3. AOV # 7 DECISIONS By Peace Agboire According to behavioral psychology, a moderate estimate suggests that the average person makes between one and ten thousand decisions every day. If this number alone doesn’t emphasize the importance of decision-making, consider this: our approach to seemingly trivial choices, like what to wear or what to eat strongly influences the weighty decisions in our lives. Although we are not keen on the number of decisions, we are more concerned about the seasons that would require destiny-defining decisions. Queen Esther, a woman in Scripture, lived a life worthy of recommendation. The Scripture says, “Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.” At this pivotal moment, she had to choose between survival and stepping into a life-threatening mission for the sake of her people, and the first thing she did was seek divine help. Isn't it surprising how often our decisions, both small and great, are made subconsciously without God, yet we turn to Him only when facing the consequences? The way we approach minor decisions not only shapes the outcomes of greater ones, but our daily dependence on God prepares us for life’s pivotal moments. Esther didn’t act that day in a way she had never acted before. She had cultivated a lifestyle of dependence on God, and when the moment came, remembering Him was instinctive. Whether you make one decision or a thousand in a day, let every choice begin with God. AOV #8 OF MARRIAGE & FAMILY By Evelyn Thamu Marriage and family have always been close to my heart, even in seasons where life hasn’t looked the way I once imagined. Being separated has not changed my belief in the beauty and purpose of marriage, it has only deepened my understanding of God’s design and desire for it. In Malachi 2, we are reminded that God seeks **godly offspring**. This means that marriage is not just about companionship or personal happiness, but about building a foundation where faith, character, and righteousness are nurtured in the next generation. A godly family becomes a place where children learn to love God, honor His word, and walk in truth. God calls us to walk in holiness and righteousness, not only as individuals but within our families. Holiness is reflected in how we speak, how we forgive, how we remain faithful, and how we choose to honor God even when it is difficult. Righteousness is lived out daily through obedience, humility, and love. Even when marriages face challenges or seasons of separation, God still desires that we align our lives with His will and continue growing spiritually. Family, in its truest form, is not just about structure, it is about reflecting God’s heart. It is about extending grace, choosing love, and seeking God in every season. Whether together or apart, we are still called to live in a way that honors Him and sets an example for those around us. I hold onto the hope that God restores, heals, and completes what concerns us. His plans are always greater than our circumstances. 1 Peter 5:10 – "And the God of all grace... will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast." AOV #9 DEBORAH Leadership we can learn from! by Denise Roberts Deborah was unique in many ways. She was the only female judge recorded in Scripture, a prophetess, a wife, and a leader during one of Israel’s most difficult seasons. While many judges struggled with character and integrity, Deborah stands as an example of godly leadership. Following her victory, Israel experienced forty years of peace, twice as long as the previous period of peace. What makes Deborah particularly relevant today is how she led. While kings and rulers built palaces and fortified strongholds to project power, Deborah held court under the Palm of Deborah, out in the open where people could easily approach her. She did not rely on titles, walls, or gatekeepers to establish authority. Her influence was built on trust, wisdom, and relational credibility. In a modern world obsessed with status and hierarchy, Deborah reminds us that true leadership comes from being accessible and trustworthy. When a crisis arose, Deborah did not try to do everything herself. She called Barak and reminded him of his responsibility. Even when he refused to go without her, she put aside any concern for recognition and simply went to support him. Deborah understood that leadership is not about controlling every outcome but about empowering others to step into their God given roles. Great leaders do not create followers; they develop other leaders. Deborah was not a token leader. Her position was established through wisdom, competence, and godly character. People sought her counsel because of who she was and what she carried, not because of her gender. Her life reminds us that effective leadership is ultimately measured by integrity, wisdom, and results. Perhaps most remarkably, Deborah refused to be confined to a single role. Scripture presents her as a prophetess, judge, wife, military strategist, and songwriter. She demonstrates that God often calls people to serve in more than one area and that our identity is not limited to a single title. Deborah’s life challenges modern leaders to build influence through character rather than position, empower others rather than control them, and remain faithful to God’s calling regardless of expectations or limitations. AOV #10 ASK NOT WHAT GOD CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR GOD!...... a reminder by Jacinda As we scroll through our social media pages, we often see prayers asking God for things we need or want? While, this is good and honorable do we ever stop and ask our creator what He might need from us? Understandably God technically does not “need”anything from us However, He wants us to be open to him. He wants to be our friend. Do we only talk to a friend or family member when we need or want something? Sure He wants to know what we need from him, He also wants to know we are willing to serve him. How much would our lives be more fruitful if we start our prayers by asking Him what He needs from us and how we could serve Him? The Holy Spirit will guide us in fulfilling this for our Heavenly Father. Start by asking God to use us as his vessel, to allow his words to flow from our mouths. Ask as He blesses us, how we can be a blessing to others. It might be a simple warm smile to a stranger, or maybe it is spreading His Word to others. God does not want us to be robots. Be yourself, He loves us just the way He created us and He created us perfectly in His image. Our Heavenly Father wants us to be simply open for him to work through us. We never know what the day holds for us. We may come across a lot or very little, or none. The point is how we surrender ourselves daily to be a vessel unto him. God’s word says “ But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.” ( Matthew 6:33 ) Start your morning prayer routine not asking what God can do for you, but what you can do for God!!
