PRAYING TO KILL MEN
(Dr Abel Damina)

MATTHEW 5:44
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; (KJV)

Every believer is powerful. We
received all the power we need to carry out any supernatural assignment on earth when Christ came to our hearts. It is only by prayer that we exercise this inherent power we have in us. There is also the power of darkness in the world and in unbelievers who carry out the works of darkness.

God’s power does not execute evil. This means that any supernatural power behind the execution of evil is not from God. God’s power operates within the parameters of his character.

Jesus is the exact representation of God on earth. It is in Christ we can know the true character of God. Jesus came to reveal God as love, full of goodness and the apostles also affirmed that God is light and in him is no darkness at all.

1 John 1:5, “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all”.

Ignorance of the knowledge of the scriptures will cause you to desire God to do what is outside his character. Any supernatural operation of power outside the character of God is not from Him. It is the devil at work.

There is a common expression of ignorance in praying by many believers. They most times pray for people they tag as their enemies to die.

They often use phrases such as “die by fire”, “back to sender”, “be destroyed by thunder”, “we slashed you by the sword of God”, etc.

These prayers are intended to end the life of anybody perceived to be a witch, an agent of darkness who is responsible for their woes in life and ministry.

Some get the result of their prayers and they come to church to testify about how a person died because of their prayer.

Some even send pictures of their enemies to their prophet to kill the person for them. To them, all their human enemies must die for them to be free.

They rejoice in the death of another person they perceive as their enemy. This act is very wicked and highly opposed to the character of God.

From our opening text, Jesus emphatically corrected the Old Testament prophets. Verse 43 says “Ye have heard that it hath been said, thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy”.

Jesus then said in verse 44 that “But I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.

Jesus, therefore, did not endorse revengeful prayers where we expect evil to come on our enemies. We have no pattern of praying to kill human enemies by the foundational apostles.

It is therefore an error and act of wickedness to pray for anybody to die. God does not kill enemies.

If God kills his enemies, we would be dead by now because we were once enemies of God but God saved us instead of killing us. I don’t pray to kill men. I pray to save men.
