He chose obedience to the Father’s will because of His love for humanity and His mission to bring salvation. The disciples struggled to understand these words because they expected the Messiah to establish an earthly kingdom immediately. But Jesus revealed that redemption would come through sacrifice before glory. This passage reminds believers of the depth of Christ’s love and commitment. Jesus endured suffering, rejection, and death so that humanity could be reconciled to God. Every step toward Jerusalem reflected His obedience and compassion.
