Daily Devotion — June 17 | Acts 2:11 (NKJV)

A Message for Every Nation

Acts 2:11 occurs during the extraordinary events of Pentecost. Jews from many regions of the world had gathered in Jerusalem for the feast. When the Holy Spirit filled the believers, they began speaking in languages they had never learned. The crowd was amazed because each person could hear God's message in his or her own language.

What captured the attention of the crowd was not merely the miracle of hearing different languages. It was the content of what was being spoken. The believers were declaring "the wonderful works of God." Their focus was not on themselves, their experiences, or their abilities. Their purpose was to exalt God and proclaim His mighty acts.

This verse reveals God's heart for all people. From the very beginning of the church, the gospel message crossed cultural, linguistic, and geographical boundaries. God wanted every nation and every people group to hear about His saving grace through Jesus Christ. The miracle of Pentecost demonstrated that the good news was not limited to one group but was intended for the entire world.

Believers today are still called to declare the wonderful works of God. While we may not stand before international crowds, we have opportunities every day to testify about God's goodness, faithfulness, mercy, and salvation. Our conversations, actions, and attitudes can point others to the greatness of the Lord.

When people look at our lives, they should see evidence of God's transforming power. Like the early believers, our purpose is not to draw attention to ourselves but to magnify God and make His wonderful works known to those around us.

Reflection Questions

1. How often do I speak about the wonderful works God has done in my life?

2. Am I using my words to bring attention to God or to myself?

3. Who in my life needs to hear about God's goodness and salvation?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wonderful works You have accomplished through Jesus Christ. Help me to boldly and faithfully share Your goodness with others. May my words and actions point people to You and bring glory to Your name. Use my life as a testimony of Your grace and faithfulness. In Jesus name Amen.

Practical Application

● Take time today to thank God for specific ways He has worked in your life.

● Share a testimony of God's faithfulness with a friend, family member, or coworker.

● Look for opportunities to direct conversations toward God's goodness and grace.

Takeaway Thought

A heart filled with gratitude for God's works naturally desires to make His greatness known to others.
