Daily Devotion — June 17 | Acts 2:11 (NKJV)
A Message for Every Nation
Acts 2:11 occurs during the extraordinary events of Pentecost. Jews from many regions of the world had gathered in Jerusalem for the feast. When the Holy Spirit filled the believers, they began speaking in languages they had never learned. The crowd was amazed because each person could hear God's message in his or her own language.
What captured the attention of the crowd was not merely the miracle of hearing different languages. It was the content of what was being spoken. The believers were declaring "the wonderful works of God." Their focus was not on themselves, their experiences, or their abilities. Their purpose was to exalt God and proclaim His mighty acts.
