PHILOSOPHICAL REFLECTIONS
CREATED FOR HIS PRAISE!
LEAD SCRIPTURE
тАЬLet every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.тАЭ
тАФ Psalm 150:6 (KJV)
INTRODUCTION:
THE GREATEST PURPOSE OF EXISTENCE
One of the greatest questions that has troubled humanity from generation to generation is this:
"Why am I here?"
Philosophers have wrestled with it.
Scientists have investigated it.
Religions have attempted to explain it.
Kings, prophets, scholars, and ordinary men have all sought answers to it.
Yet the answer is far simpler than many imagine.
The primary purpose of creation is praise.
The ultimate reason for existence is God's pleasure.
The Psalmist settles the matter with divine simplicity:
тАЬLet every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.тАЭ
тАФ Psalm 150:6
Notice the scope of that command.
Not some things.
Not holy things only.
Not angels alone.
Not ministers only.
Not prophets exclusively.
Not churchgoers alone.
Everything that has breath.
If it breathes, it was designed to praise.
If it exists, it was created for His glory.
If it lives, it owes its existence to Him.
The Scriptures begin with God creating all things.
тАЬIn the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.тАЭ
тАФ Genesis 1:1
Creation did not begin with man.
Creation began with God.
Therefore, the purpose of creation can only be understood from the Creator Himself.
Nothing understands the purpose of a product better than its manufacturer.
Likewise, no one understands the purpose of man better than God.
The Prophet Isaiah reveals one of the greatest secrets concerning mankind:
тАЬEven every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory...тАЭ
тАФ Isaiah 43:7
Man was created for God's glory.
Man was created for God's pleasure.
Man was created to reflect God's greatness.
Man was created to celebrate God's majesty.
The tragedy of many lives is not that they fail.
The tragedy is that they succeed at things they were never created to pursue.
A fish may become miserable outside water.
An eagle may become frustrated living like a chicken.
Likewise, a man disconnected from worship will eventually become disconnected from purpose.
The Book of Revelation provides another astonishing insight:
тАЬThou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.тАЭ
тАФ Revelation 4:11
Pause and think about that.
You were not created primarily for money.
You were not created primarily for fame.
You were not created primarily for power.
You were not created primarily for status.
You were created for His pleasure.
Everything else is secondary.
Praise is not merely something believers do.
Praise is why believers exist.
Even creation itself praises God.
тАЬThe heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.тАЭ
тАФ Psalm 19:1
The stars praise Him.
The oceans praise Him.
The mountains praise Him.
The trees praise Him.
The birds praise Him.
The winds praise Him.
The sun praises Him by shining.
The moon praises Him by reflecting.
The rivers praise Him by flowing.
Everything fulfills praise by fulfilling divine purpose.
This brings us to one of the most profound truths in Scripture:
Man was created to occupy a position that rebellion once vacated.
The Bible reveals the fall of Lucifer.
тАЬHow art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!тАЭ
тАФ Isaiah 14:12
Lucifer was originally associated with heavenly splendor.
Yet pride corrupted him.
His ambition displaced him.
His rebellion destroyed him.
тАЬPride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.тАЭ
тАФ Proverbs 16:18
When Lucifer abandoned his position through rebellion, God did not abandon His purpose.
God created mankind.
A race of beings capable of worship.
A race of beings capable of praise.
A race of beings capable of glorifying His Name.
This is why the enemy constantly fights worship.
Because worship reminds him of what he lost.
Praise reminds him of what he forfeited.
Every time a believer genuinely exalts God, Heaven's original purpose is being fulfilled.
This is why Jesus declared:
тАЬGod is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.тАЭ
тАФ John 4:24
The highest calling of man is not occupation.
The highest calling of man is adoration.
The greatest assignment of man is not accumulation.
The greatest assignment of man is glorification of God.
When a man discovers this truth, life begins to make sense.
Purpose becomes clearer.
Priorities become simpler.
Decisions become wiser.
Destiny becomes easier to navigate.
For life was never intended to revolve around self.
Life was designed to revolve around God.
тАЬFor of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.тАЭ
тАФ Romans 11:36
WISDOM NOTES
The greatest tragedy in life is not death; it is living without discovering why you were created.
тАЬWhere there is no vision, the people perish.тАЭ
тАФ Proverbs 29:18
A man who lives for himself will eventually disappoint himself.
тАЬBut seek ye first the kingdom of God...тАЭ
тАФ Matthew 6:33
Purpose is not created by man; purpose is discovered from God.
тАЬThe steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD.тАЭ
тАФ Psalm 37:23
Anything that takes God's place in your life has become an idol.
тАЬThou shalt have no other gods before me.тАЭ
тАФ Exodus 20:3
Praise is not a church activity; praise is a lifestyle.
тАЬI will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.тАЭ
тАФ Psalm 34:1
The closer a man gets to God, the more naturally praise flows from his life.
тАЬDraw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.тАЭ
тАФ James 4:8
Worship is the highest expression of love.
тАЬThou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart...тАЭ
тАФ Matthew 22:37
Every breath is a divine gift.
Every heartbeat is a divine reminder.
Every new day is another opportunity to glorify God.
тАЬLet every thing that hath breath praise the LORD.тАЭ
тАФ Psalm 150:6
FINAL THOUGHTS
At the end of life, God will not primarily ask how much money we made.
He will not primarily ask how many titles we acquired.
He will not primarily ask how many people applauded us.
The greatest question will be:
Did we fulfill the purpose for which we were created?
Did we glorify Him?
Did we bring Him pleasure?
Did we live for His praise?
The stars fulfill their purpose.
The oceans fulfill their purpose.
The mountains fulfill their purpose.
The angels fulfill their purpose.
The question remains:
Are we fulfilling ours?
The greatest revelation a human being can receive is this:
I belong to God.
I exist because of God.
I live for God.
I was created for His praise.
And when a man truly understands that truth, life ceases to be a burden and becomes a worship service.
тАЬFor in him we live, and move, and have our being.тАЭ
тАФ Acts 17:28
PRAYER LINES
Father, help me never to forget the purpose for which You created me.
тАЬTeach me thy way, O LORD...тАЭ
тАФ Psalm 86:11
Lord, let my life bring You glory in every season.
тАЬWhether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.тАЭ
тАФ 1 Corinthians 10:31
Remove every distraction that competes with Your place in my heart.
тАЬCreate in me a clean heart, O God.тАЭ
тАФ Psalm 51:10
Let every breath I take become an instrument of praise.
тАЬLet every thing that hath breath praise the LORD.тАЭ
тАФ Psalm 150:6
May my life continually bring pleasure to You.
тАЬFor thy pleasure they are and were created.тАЭ
тАФ Revelation 4:11
In Jesus' Name.
Amen.
