THE ELDER WHO WEPT: WHEN PURPOSE IS BURIED
Some stories don't just inspire you. They confront you.
In March 2018, I was a young man in my officeβfull of vision, passion, energy and, honestly, a certain kind of holy arrogance.
I had gathered young, vibrant and zealous boys and girls, roughly between ages 6 and 19, into a music orchestra.
Whenever we ministered, I was convinced we were doing something extraordinary. I believed strongly in the strength of youthβtheir energy, creativity, innovation and adventurous spirit.
Then there was this elderly man.
He came around my office almost every day.
He would sit around, talk, share his opinions and engage me in conversations.
I would listen politely, but inwardly I kept wondering:
"What can this old man possibly offer me?"
I thought I had gathered the people who represented the future.
I didn't realize that the man I was overlooking might have something significant to teach me.
THEN SOMETHING CHANGED.
One day, something stirred in my spirit.
I realized that I had been unfair to this elderly man.
So I invited him to sit properly on a seat I gave him.
As he sat down, the Holy Spirit spoke to me:
"Ask him if he is a Pastor."
I looked at him and asked:
"Sir, are you a Pastor?"
He answered:
"Yes."
I asked him which denomination and which ministry.
Then he opened an old, worn bag and brought out a file.
What I saw inside changed my life.
THE BURIED BLUEPRINT
Inside that file were carefully written visions and plans for a ministry he believed God had instructed him to establish in a particular region.
The plans were detailed.
Clear.
Deliberate.
But he had never started the ministry.
Then he showed me another document.
It contained the blueprint for a Microfinance Bank he believed God had instructed him to establish.
That too had never happened.
Years had passed.
The vision remained on paper.
The gifts remained dormant.
The assignment remained unfinished.
And this was the painful reality:
A man carrying blueprints for things that could have impacted lives was now working as a gateman.
That day, I asked him:
"Sir, do you understand the concept of PURPOSE and DESTINY?"
He said:
"No."
So I began to teach him from the Scriptures.
I explained that God has ordained works for us and that discovering those works is not enoughβwe must also develop the capacity and obedience to execute them.
As I taught him, something broke inside him.
THE ELDER BEGAN TO WEEP.
Not ordinary tears.
It was the grief of a man suddenly confronting years he could never recover.
He realized that he had carried divine ideas without understanding what they meant.
He realized that some of what God had placed within him had remained dormant.
I had to stop teaching for a moment.
Watching an elderly man cry like a child was one of the most painful sights I had ever witnessed.
But then I told him something else:
IT IS NOT TOO LATE.
I introduced him to what I call the Kingdom's Second-Chance Principle.
Noah completed his assignment at an advanced age.
Abraham answered God's call at 75.
Moses entered his major public assignment at 80.
The lesson is simple:
Late planting can still produce a great harvest.
That encounter changed me.
It eventually birthed VIEWS FROM AFAR, my radio programme on Uniuyo FM 100.7 MHz, where I began teaching on Divine Purpose and Destiny.
And now, that same burden has developed into:
PURPOSE AND DESTINY CONFERENCE 2026
DISCOVER PURPOSE. DEVELOP CAPACITY. FULFIL DESTINY!

This is not merely a conference.
It is a call to examine your life.
A call to discover why you are here.
A call to awaken dormant gifts.
A call to develop capacity.
A call to stop postponing obedience.
A call to fulfil destiny.
Because:
You can be alive and still miss your assignment.
You can be busy and still miss your purpose.
You can be gifted and still remain undeveloped.
You can be religious and still fail to discover what God created you to accomplish.
But if you are still alive:
IT IS NOT TOO LATE.
PRAYER
Father, open my eyes to understand why You created me.
Deliver me from wasted years, wrong associations and misplaced priorities.
Awaken every dormant gift within me.
Give me grace to discover my purpose, capacity to develop it and courage to fulfil it.
I will not die carrying an unfinished assignment.
MY PURPOSE IS WAITING.
