We believers still do things that are sin. Yes. Even so, we walk in the light because we are in Christ. In the light, his blood cleanses us, that is, it continually cleans us, of all sin. That is why there is no sin held to the believer's account.

We are forgiven. It's not a performance thing. We still struggle. We still screw up. Regardless of our behavior though, we are saints. We are sons and daughters of God. We are sealed.

Believers ought to be focused on the state of righteousness we have with God. We have the righteousness of God in Christ. We aren't perfect, but we are perfectly accepted.

We shouldn't be focused on sin. Sin consciousness is destructive. It brings doubt, fear, guilt and loathing. It saps faith and weakens the confidence of our right standing with God.

Held in our eternal security and sealed in God's acceptance, we walk with the Holy Spirit abiding in his love, and, as we walk, we follow him. He leads us. He teaches us. He does his work within us, and we grow in grace and Christian maturity. From grace to grace.

Our faith and confidence is not in ourselves or our abilities to do that which is right. Our faith is in Jesus and the Holy Spirit of the risen and ascended King of Kings to keep us. This relationship we enjoy with God does not motivate us back into rebellion and amenity with our Father. To turn our backs on him now would be the greatest of folly and replace joy and peace with guilt and doubt. Our acceptance by God motivates us and encourages us to press foward through the trials of life from one grace to the next. It draws us ever closer to Jesus, the source of our right standing with God.
