*TOPIC: BE CONTENT WITH WHAT YOU HAVE* 📖 *FURTHER READING* HEBREWS 13:5–8 🔑 *KEY VERSE:* "Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have" (Heb. 13:5). EZEKIEL 23–24 🖊️ *COMMENTARY* In Exodus 20:17, God commanded us not to covet what He has given to others. The danger of covetousness is primarily in the fact that it makes us paint a wrong picture of God. By that we seem to be saying, 'God, you are unfair, you are not kind enough; which, of course, is not true. God is rich and gives generousıy without finding faults (James 1:5). The other reasons why we should be content with what we have are: 1. God has a specific purpose for everyone. Your purpose and your gifting have to match so that you can be the person He wants you to be. 2. God gives gifts according to our various abilities. Our abilities are not the same. All of us can be wrong in our judgments but the person in the best position to tell us of our abilities is the All-knowing God (1 Cor. 12:4-7; Matt. 25:14-7). He considers our abilities. 3. God cannot give you less than enough. God is not like the Egyptian taskmaster. God is extremely generous. Whatever He gives you is enough. 4. Each gift God gives is a seed. There is life in it. Since what you have received is a living seed, there is a need for you to sow or invest it for more. That is to say, there is more to what you have received than you think (Matt. 25: 14-17). God has promised not to leave nor forsake people who are contented with what He gave to them. Can you make a list of what God has given to you? 🎚 *CONTROLLING THOUGHTS* "...
