30 Days — DISCIPLESHIP: Grow in Christ
Yesterday, we talked about prayer—learning to talk with God.
Today, we take another important step:
Learning to listen to God through His Word.
2 Timothy 3:16–17
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness."
The Bible isn't simply an old book filled with stories.
It reveals who God is, what He has done, what He desires for us, and how we should live.
If we want to grow in Christ, we cannot depend only on what we hear from other people. We need to develop our own relationship with God's Word.
Think about it this way:
Prayer is how we talk to God.
Scripture helps us hear His truth.
Obedience is how we respond.
Sometimes we ask God for direction while ignoring the guidance He has already given us in Scripture.
God's Word teaches us how to love, forgive, handle temptation, make wise decisions, treat people, manage our words, deal with difficult seasons, and remain faithful when following Christ becomes challenging.
But reading the Bible isn't about completing chapters just to say, "I finished my reading."
The goal is transformation.
Don't only ask:
"How many verses did I read today?"
Also ask:
"What is God teaching me, and how should I live differently because of it?"
Even one verse can change the way you think.
One passage can correct your direction.
One truth from Scripture can give you strength when you're struggling.
One promise can remind you that God has not abandoned you.
Your challenge today:
Set aside 15 minutes and read Psalm 119:9–16.
Read it slowly.
Choose one verse that speaks to you.
Write it down.
Then ask yourself:
1. What is this verse teaching me?
2. What does it reveal about God?
3. How can I apply it today?
Finally, pray:
"Lord, help me not only to read Your Word but to live it. Shape my thoughts, my decisions, my character, and my life through Your truth."
Remember:
A disciple doesn't simply know God's Word. A disciple allows God's Word to change the way they live.
Keep your Bible close.
Keep your heart open.
Keep growing in Christ.
Read it. Reflect on it. Apply it. Live it.
