We shine light. --- POINT 1: THE WARNING - PROVERBS 26:4 TO TEACHERS Proverbs 26:4 “Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him yourself.” What does this mean for teachers today? “DON'T USE QURAN TO ANSWER QURAN” Don’t fight error with error. Don’t use another book to prove another book. The moment a teacher of the Word picks up the enemy’s weapon, they risk “lest you be like him yourself.” 2 Corinthians 4:2 “we refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word” Galatians 5:9 “A little leaven leavens the whole lump.” “BUT ONLY TRUTH TO ANSWER LIES OF QURAN” What is Truth? John 17:17 “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.” Ephesians 5:11 “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.” Ephesians 6:17 “the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Jesus, Peter, Paul never quoted pagan books to win people. They preached “Christ crucified” 1 Cor 1:23 and “It is written”. DIRECT WARNING TO TEACHERS: Brother/Sister, if you are mixing the Bible with other books to "win arguments" or "reach Muslims" — STOP. James 3:1 “we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.” Truth and error cannot walk together Amos 3:3. You will corrupt the Gospel Gal 1:8-9. POINT 2: JESUS’ JUDGMENT ON CHURCHES WHO COMPROMISED Revelation 2:14-16 To Pergamum: “you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam... Therefore repent. If not, I will come to you soon and war against them with the sword of my mouth.” Balaam’s sin? Compromise and mixing to get God’s people to sin Num 31:16. Jesus says He will WAR against teachers who mix. Revelation 2:5 To Ephesus: “Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will remove your lampstand.” You can lose your light as a church if you don’t abide in truth. POINT 3: WE WIN SOULS BY GRACE, NOT BY KNOWLEDGE OR EFFORTS This is why many teachers fall into mixing. They think: “If I master their book, I’ll win them.” Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing” 1 Corinthians 2:4-5 “my message was not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power” The 144,000 Rev 14:4-5 overcame by: Blood RED7 🔴 + Testimony + Following the Lamb + No lie in their mouth. God saves. John 6:44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.” Our job: Faithfully preach the Word. The Spirit GREEN7 🌱 convicts. POINT 4: HOW TO ANSWER LIES - 3 BIBLICAL STEPS ANSWER WITH SCRIPTURE ONLY 2 Tim 3:16-17 - “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable” Example: Lie - “Jesus didn’t die.” Truth - Isaiah 53:5, 1 Cor 15:3-4 EXPOSE, DON’T EMBRACE Eph 5:11 - Shine light on the lie. Don’t study it to quote it. SPEAK TRUTH IN LOVE Eph 4:15, 2 Tim 2:24-25 - Goal is repentance, not winning. CONCLUSION + ALTAR CALL: 2 Corinthians 4:4 “The god of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not” Only the Gospel can open eyes 2 Cor 4:6. 3 COMMANDS FOR TEACHERS: STOP - Stop using error to fight error. Return to God and be Uplifted! Repentance brings a change of attitude concerning God. The sinner naturally vilifies God. Even when he speaks of His love, he has no conception of God’s justice and wrath. True repentance brings a sense of the Holy God who cannot look upon sin. It impacts a change of mind concerning sin itself upon a person. The unrepentant delight in sin. A child of God may be tempted to sin and even fall into sin, but his bosom aches when he does so. A true child of God who has repented cannot enjoy sin and continuously longs for deliverance. Before every child of God, there is a vision both of what he is and what he ought to be. He cries with the poet; “O that a man might arise in me that I might ease to be.” Repentance gives the sinners a change of mind concerning him. Before our salvation, we all had a good opinion of ourselves. Like the Pharisees, we often thanked God that, “we were not as other men, extortionist, unjust, adulterers, or even as the publican" (Luke 18:11). But, every one that exalts himself shall be abased, and he that humbles himself shall be exalted (Verse 14). Where there is true repentance, though, men often despair of themselves, and like the publication, their cry is, “God be merciful to me a sinner”. They echo Paul’s exasperated plea: “O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death" (Romans 7:24). For Christ came not to call the righteousness, but sinners to repentance (Luke 5:32). Repentance affects the motions and will, and also creates a change of feeling. We must beware here lest we are deceived. The old time evangelist who specialized in death-bed stories often created mere human emotion filling the mourners' bench with weeping people. These mourners often had a remorse for their evil doings, deeply regretting they had not been better men and women when they were told about meeting their “mother” in heaven. But remorse in not repentance, though I must say remorse is a very common experience for those who commit sin. Someone has called remorse the “echo of lost virtue”. Remorse is the attitude of mind and heart for some evil done. Repentance, however, goes deeper. Repentance creates a sorrow for what we are rather that remorse for what we have done. Therefore says the Hebrews writer, “Leaving the principles of the doctrines of Christ (Messiah), let us go into perfection by not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works” (Hebrews 6:1). Christian repentance is not merely the pangs of an injured conscience. Christian repentance follows the Holy Spirit’s convicting work deep within our soul (John 16:7 and 8). It lays strong hold upon the human will and brings the sinners into conformity with the will of God. It is heeding God’s call from a life of destruction (Mark 1:15). Repentance does not mean merely shedding tears over our wrong doings. It ends in faith in Christ, the Saviour. The Church must preach and teach until these conditions are obtained in the ministries. Then our revival shall have come. For this is the will of God for all mankind (Acts 17:30). Today what the Church and the continents at large need is repentance. The call of the pulpit to the pew must be repentance. And that of the crusades to the nations must similarly be repentance, and this must eventuate in confession of sins. The scripture, therefore, tells us: “Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against the Lord your God” (Jeremiah3:13).That will move our God to come down and heal our many wounds. We are reminded that, “The Lord’s hands is not shortened, that it cannot save neither is His ear heavy that it cannot hear, but your iniquity have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear” (Isaiah59:1 and 2). He that covers his sins shall not prosper, but whoso confess and forsake them shall have mercy (Proverbs 28:13). “For as many as the Lord loves, He rebukes and chastens; be zealous therefore and repent!” (Revelation 3:19). The repentance must not only be among the lowly citizens but must spring from the governors trickling to the governed. “Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man which built his house upon a rock. And everyone that hears these sayings of mine and does them not shall be likened to a foolish man which built his house upon the sand,” declares the Lord Jesus Christ (Mathew 7:24 and 26). Almighty God is calling to the people today as He did to former Israel that, “Therefore also now, says the Lord, Turn even to me with all your heart and with fasting and with weeping and with mourning. And rend your heart and not your garments, and turn to the Lord your God. For He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repent Him of the evil. Who knows if He will return and leave a blessing behind Him, even a meat offering and drink offering unto the Lord your God? Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly; gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts; let the bride-groom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet. Let the priests, the ministers of the Lord weep between the porch and the altar and let them say: Spare your people O Lord and give not your heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them; wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God? Then the Lord will be so jealous for His land and pity His people. Yes the Lord will answer and say unto His people, Behold I will send you corn, and wine and oil, and you shall be satisfied therewith; and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen but I will remove far off from you northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face towards the east sea and his hinder part towards the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up and his savor shall come up because he has done great things. Fear not O land; be glad and rejoice; for the Lord will do great things. And I will restore to you the years that locusts has eaten, the cankerworm and the caterpillar and the palmerworm my great army which I sent among you. And you shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that has dealt wondrously with you, and my people shall never be ashamed" (Joel 2:12-21: 25 and 26). The Lord’s northern army is the destruction God brings upon a people as a result of their wickedness. Indeed righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 13:34). For the Lord God of Israel, the Creator of the heavens and the earth loves righteousness and judgement (Psalm 33:5). He stresses that judgement is his strange work (Isaiah 28:21). The reason being that when his judgements are on the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness (Isaiah 26:9). When a nation leaves wickedness and turns to the Lord, such a people receive pardon and sure favour from the Lord God Almighty. The psalmist thus wrote: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord and the people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance” (Psalms 33:12). The Lord delights in the humility of a people. This makes Him hear our plea and smile back at us with a pardon. And this humility must start in His sanctuary. He says: “If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). Therefore every Christian by and far, let us rally in repentance for the healing of our lands. For repentance turns away God’s wrath. Nineveh found itself in a similar situation many African nations are in today. Plagued with wickedness in diverse places and faced with imminent judgment, the Almighty God used Jonah to deliver a message of judgment to the people of Nineveh: “Surely the Lord God will do nothing but He reveals His secrets to His servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7). Unlike most of our folks who hear and turn the head the other way, the Ninevehs believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest-including the king-to the least of them. And God saw their works that they turned from their evil way, and God repented them of the evil that he had said He would bring upon them, and He did it not (Jonah 3). Repentance touches the core of God’s heart. Humble yourself and return to the Lord your Creator. Repentance automatically brings healing. The Lord says, “Wash you, and make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes, cease to do evil. Learn to do well, seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, and judge the fatherless plead for the widow. Come now and let us reason together; though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow: though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land” (Isaiah 1:16-19). The Living God is the healer of nations. The psalmist has declared of Him: “God be merciful to us, and cause His face to shine upon us. That your way may be known upon the earth, your saving health among all nations” (Psalm 67:1 and 2). Perhaps this ought to be the prayer on everyone’s lips now. Stay awake O Christian in the truth! The good LORD has always extended this gracious invitation to man over the millennia. And, therefore, if it is your desire to know Him as He truly is - the Lord of lords and King of kings, the Savior, and Redeemer of mankind, then pray this prayer of repentance unto salvation: “Lord Jesus Christ, I come to you with all the sins I have committed and I beg you to forgive me. I confess that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. Please cleanse my body, soul, and spirit with your precious blood. I need your help Lord, and I ask you to come and live in my heart. I want to serve you, obey your commands and do what is right. I want to live for you every day, please lead and guide me by your Spirit into righteousness. Thank you, O Lord for hearing and answering my prayer. Amen!” Welcome now to this grand and mighty army of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on earth. Read the Bible often, and join a congregation near you where Christ Jesus is preached and the Almighty Godhead: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, is worshiped in Spirit and in Truth for your own spiritual growth and strength. The Almighty God make you the apple of His eyes as I solemnly declare of Him: “After He has honored me and has sent me against the nations that have plundered you - for whoever touches you touches the apple of His eye - I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them” (Zachariah 2:8). The peace and love of Christ Jesus the Lord be with you now and forever.

daily devotion for August 15th Hunger For The Word They told Ezra the scribe to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded for Israel. Nehemiah 8:1b It is not surprising that chapter 8 opens with a manifestation of a great hunger for the Word among these people in Jerusalem. Notice that this seems to be a spontaneous gathering. No invitations were sent out. No public notice was given. People were hungry for answers to their problems and for guidelines from the Word of God, and with one accord they gathered in this great square before the Water Gate. They asked Ezra the priest to bring the Law of the Lord and to read it to them. This would undoubtedly be the entire Pentateuch--the first five books of the Bible. This indicates the tremendous desire of these people for truth. They listened, while standing, from daybreak until noon! Certainly this long attention indicates how deeply they were aware of their ignorance about life and how much they needed answers from God. They were simply crying out for the Word. Ezra, the priest, the author of the book of Ezra, appears for the first time in the book of Nehemiah. Thirteen years earlier he had led a return from Persia to rebuild the temple and to teach the Law of God. Apparently he had been occupied in that task all through the time of the rebuilding of the wall. But when the people had finished their work, they were desperate to hear from the Word of God, so they sent for Ezra to lead them. It seems to me that we have come to such a time as this again. The prophet Amos predicted that there would come a famine in the world for the Word of God. People would actually be starving for answers to the problems of life. I find everywhere a deep hunger among non-churched people to hear the Word of God. Wherever it is taught with any degree of understanding, they are immediately attracted to it. When the Word is opened up, people begin to understand themselves. When you know God you begin to understand yourself, because you are made in the image of God. These people in Jerusalem were soon growing in self-knowledge as they began to hunger for the Word of God. The great tragedy of our day is how few churches seem to understand this power of Scripture. Lord, create in me a hunger for Your Word. Forgive me for so often taking it for granted.

August 14 - Jesus Urges Compassion #LifeOfChrist “‘But go and learn what this means: “I desire compassion, and not sacrifice”’” (Matthew 9:13). Jesus never shied away from speaking directly and bluntly if the situation demanded such talk. Here He pins the Jewish leaders to the wall by quoting from their own most honored scriptural authorities. Their own prophets rebuke them for their spiritual ignorance and their lack of obedience to God’s clear commands. Jesus paraphrases Hosea’s prophetic and divinely inspired words: “I delight in loyalty rather than sacrifice, and in the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings” (Hos. 6:6). The perfect Word of God should have been the Pharisees’ supreme concern, as it should be ours, rather than the flawed words and ideas of humanity. Without true and godly compassion, all the Pharisees’ rituals, ceremonies, and sacrifices were worth nothing to God. The person who is indifferent toward other people verifies that he or she is also indifferent toward God, no matter how correct their theology or impeccable their morality. Ritual separated from righteousness and a concern for the downtrodden and lost has always been an affront to God. Through the prophet Amos, the Lord declared, “Take away from Me the noise of your songs; I will not even listen to the sound of your harps. But let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream” (Amos 5:23–24). Ask Yourself In what ways have you let duty and religious reputation become elevated in importance beyond genuine love and compassion for others? What is so empty about the former . . . and so rejuvenating about the latter?

REPENT NOW — Life Is Uncertain A solemn Christian sermon with prayer “Prepare to meet your God.” — Amos 4:12 The world often imagines death as the Grim Reaper—a dark figure carrying a scythe. That image is a powerful symbol in art and literature, but the Bible points us to a deeper truth: our lives are fragile, and none of us knows the day or hour when our earthly life will end. This is not meant to produce panic. It is meant to awaken the heart. Tomorrow is not promised Every sunrise is a gift from God. We make plans for next week, next year, and retirement, yet Scripture reminds us how brief life truly is. “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” — James 4:14 If your heart is far from Christ, do not delay repentance. If there is unforgiveness, confess it. If there is hidden sin, bring it into the light. If you have wandered from the Lord, come home today. Jesus is the Savior, not the destroyer God does not delight in the death of the wicked. His desire is that people turn and live. “The Lord is… patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” — 2 Peter 3:9 The Cross stands as Heaven's invitation. Jesus stretched out His hands so that guilty sinners could become forgiven children of God. No sin is too great for His mercy when it is met with genuine repentance and faith. What is true repentance? Repentance is more than feeling sorry. It is a change of heart that leads to a change of direction. Turn from sin. Turn toward Jesus Christ. Confess Him as Lord. Walk daily in obedience through the power of the Holy Spirit. “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.” — Acts 3:19 A Prayer of Urgent Repentance Heavenly Father, I come before You with humility and reverence. I confess that I have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed. I cannot save myself. Lord Jesus Christ, I believe You died on the Cross for my sins and rose again in victory. Have mercy upon me. Wash me in Your precious blood and make me a new creation. Holy Spirit, break every chain of sin. Remove my hardened heart and give me a heart that loves righteousness. Help me forgive others, walk in holiness, and live each day ready to meet my King. Teach me to number my days, that I may gain a heart of wisdom. Let my life glorify Jesus until my final breath. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen. The Call “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” — Hebrews 3:15 Do not wait for a better season. Do not assume tomorrow belongs to you. Repent today. Believe the Gospel today. Follow Jesus today. For Christ is ready to forgive all who come to Him with a sincere and repentant heart. BE READY TO DIE ANY TIME, WE LIVE MINUTE BY MINUTE. BE EVER READY TO MEET GOD! 2 CHOICES, JESUS EQUALS HEAVEN. REJECTION OF JESUS EQUALS ETERNAL DAMNATION BE READY TO DIE AT ANY TIME We Live Minute by Minute — Be Ever Ready to Meet God “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” — Psalm 90:12 Every heartbeat is a gift. Every breath is sustained by the mercy of God. None of us knows whether we have fifty years remaining—or five minutes. The Bible calls us not to live in terror, but in readiness. Jesus repeatedly urged His disciples: “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.” — Matthew 25:13 The Two Eternal Choices According to the Christian Gospel, every person must respond to Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ The Way to Eternal Life John 14:6 • John 3:16 Repent. Believe. Follow Him. Forgiveness of sins, reconciliation with God, and the hope of eternal life through Christ alone. Reject Christ Remain Separated from God John 3:18 • Revelation 20:15 The warning is real. The New Testament warns that rejecting God's offer of salvation has eternal consequences. Don't Wait Until Tomorrow The greatest deception is believing there will always be another opportunity. The healthy can die suddenly. The wealthy cannot buy one more heartbeat. The young are not guaranteed old age. Death respects no calendar. “Now is the day of salvation.” — 2 Corinthians 6:2 God is not trying to frighten you away from Him. He is calling you toward Him. His warnings flow from His love, and His invitation remains open today. Jesus Is the Only Savior Jesus declared: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” — John 14:6 The apostles proclaimed: “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” — Acts 4:12 Our good works cannot erase our sins. Religion cannot save us. Only the crucified and risen Son of God can reconcile us to the Father. A Prayer: Ready to Meet God Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that my life is in Your hands. I confess that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. Lord Jesus Christ, I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I repent of my sin and turn to You. Be my Lord, my Savior, and my King. Wash me in Your precious blood. Fill me with the Holy Spirit, and teach me to live in holiness, love, and obedience. Help me to be ready—not living in fear, but living in faithful expectation of seeing You face to face. Let every day of my life bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen. The Final Appeal “Choose this day whom you will serve.” — Joshua 24:15 Life is brief. Eternity is forever. Choose Jesus Christ. Walk with Him. Be ready to meet God.

Every bit of activity in the outer court and inner court of the tabernacle was, for one purpose, to lead you into the Holy of Holies where God’s presence was. Old Testament symbols, such as the Ark, are a picture of New Testament realities. In this regard, the Ark, which was the most important piece of furniture in the tabernacle, is a picture of the Christ we love and serve. He is Lord. He is supreme. There’s no one like Him. And He alone is worthy of all praise! Paul writes: ‘Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through Him, God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through Him and for Him. He existed before everything else, and he holds all creation together. Christ is also the head of the church, which is His body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So He is first in everything. For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through Him God reconciled everything to himself…’ (Colossians 1:15-20 NLT). If your faith is ‘me-centred,’ you’ll get nowhere with God. But when your faith is ‘Christ-centred,’ then everything Christ has becomes available to you! Grace and mercy qualified him especially, because of the deep humility and fear of God in his life as at the time he was made king. King Saul began his reign with great promise. He was divinely chosen, physically impressive and empowered by God for leadership (1 Samuel 10:1, 9). Yet, his life ended in shame because of persistent disobedience, self-will and refusal to seek the Lord sincerely. The text not only shows the death of Saul, but also the collapse of a royal dynasty that could have enjoyed lasting honour. It reminds us that a good beginning does not guarantee a glorious ending. Only continual obedience, humility and dependence on God preserve a life, ministry, or family legacy. Those who think that they cannot lose whatever they receive from God, including eternal salvation, should learn from the life and end of Saul. *1. The Fall and Defeat of God's Giants* a. Saul and his sons were once regarded as the giants of Israel's military strength. They fought along with their father to win virtually all their battles except this last one. Even when they were not well prepared, God helped and strengthened them to be terrors to the nations around. *"So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them"* (1 Samuel 14:47). Victory was their birthright because of their allegiance to the God of heaven. He and his sons were giants in the hands of God. This time around, they all fell and were defeated the same day. They were not only captured, but were killed. What an avoidable tragedy that a promising and blessed first Royal family, that could have been a reference point of God's goodness and blessings, experienced. They all perished in a single day. b.How did they fall? It did not happen overnight. First, was the loss of focus. He allowed the enemy and jealousy to shift his attention from his divinely given responsibility to pursuing David who actually was not a threat. The deception of great position, persistence disobedience to the Word of God and the habit of taking God's warnings and Word for granted hardened his heart. The tragedy was not due merely to military weakness, but to spiritual failure that had accumulated over time. When those whom God raises fail to remain faithful, their strength cannot save them. Every believer must guard against drifting from God, regardless of past victories or present status. King Saul did not just lose his exalted blessings, but he also booked, signed and sealed he appointments to eternal condemnation in hell fire. *Question* Am I depending on past achievements or am I walking daily in humble obedience to God? *2. The Forceful Decimation of a Great General* a. King Saul ended his record as the first king in Israel who committed suicide and thus, ending his God-given life forcefully. He could have perished in the battle and still made heaven if in his final hours he decided to cry to God for mercy and forgiveness. Rather than trust God in his final crisis, Saul took his own life after asking his armour-bearer to kill him. His armour-bearer refused, and Saul fell upon his own sword. His death was quickly followed by that of his sons and many loyal servants. b. If Saul had not been king and he maintained his lowly lifestyle before he became king he might have made heaven. Was it his being anointed as king that made him to perish? NO. The bitterness, envy, jealousy and hatred in his heart was never dealt with. Eventually, he grew wings and became hardened in the heart. Never gloss over any filthiness in your heart. Ask God to cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus and remove them. If they are not removed, they will turn to untamed lions in the house. b. A leader's fall often affects many others. Saul did not die alone. An unchecked rampaging leader will bring destruction not only to himself, but to others too. Saul's end illustrates the destructive consequences of persistent rebellion and self-reliance. The greatest safeguard in times of distress is unwavering confidence in God's mercy and guidance. *Question* Does my life and leadership encourage others toward faithfulness or can my spiritual decline harm those who follow me? *3. The Final Disgrace of the Graceless and the Godless* a. After Saul's death, Israel fled, the cities were abandoned. *"They (Israel) forsook their cities and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them"*. Do we pity these godless citizens (Israelites) for losing their inheritance, including land, to the enemies? When Saul failed to concentrate on governance, but rather left the throne to chase David, did any citizen caution him apart from Samuel. Everybody kept mum. Some out of fear and some out of desire for favour while some were just nonchallant. We should be careful to humbly and politely ensure that leaders are made accountable and helped when it appears they are derailing. Leaders need our prayers and support while they are in the path of right while they need our loving and gentle reminder of the truth whenever they are in the path of wrong. Nobody, no matter how great, has immunity from falling. Lucifer had no rival, but he fell. Judas saw, lived and dined with the Lord Jesus Christ face to face, he fell. Solomon was the wisest king, but he foolishly and fatally fell. King Saul was unfaithful to God, disobeyed His Word, consulted a medium and failed to seek the Lord. Therefore, God removed him and transferred the kingdom to David. Grace rejected eventually, gives way to disgrace. Grace and mercy qualified him especially, because of the deep humility and fear of God in his life as at the time he was made king. King Saul began his reign with great promise. He was divinely chosen, physically impressive and empowered by God for leadership (1 Samuel 10:1, 9). Yet, his life ended in shame because of persistent disobedience, self-will and refusal to seek the Lord sincerely. The text not only shows the death of Saul, but also the collapse of a royal dynasty that could have enjoyed lasting honour. It reminds us that a good beginning does not guarantee a glorious ending. Only continual obedience, humility and dependence on God preserve a life, ministry, or family legacy. Those who think that they cannot lose whatever they receive from God, including eternal salvation, should learn from the life and end of Saul. *1. The Fall and Defeat of God's Giants* a. Saul and his sons were once regarded as the giants of Israel's military strength. They fought along with their father to win virtually all their battles except this last one. Even when they were not well prepared, God helped and strengthened them to be terrors to the nations around. *"So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them"* (1 Samuel 14:47). Victory was their birthright because of their allegiance to the God of heaven. He and his sons were giants in the hands of God. This time around, they all fell and were defeated the same day. They were not only captured, but were killed. What an avoidable tragedy that a promising and blessed first Royal family, that could have been a reference point of God's goodness and blessings, experienced. They all perished in a single day. b.How did they fall? It did not happen overnight. First, was the loss of focus. He allowed the enemy and jealousy to shift his attention from his divinely given responsibility to pursuing David who actually was not a threat. The deception of great position, persistence disobedience to the Word of God and the habit of taking God's warnings and Word for granted hardened his heart. The tragedy was not due merely to military weakness, but to spiritual failure that had accumulated over time. When those whom God raises fail to remain faithful, their strength cannot save them. Every believer must guard against drifting from God, regardless of past victories or present status. King Saul did not just lose his exalted blessings, but he also booked, signed and sealed he appointments to eternal condemnation in hell fire. *Question* Am I depending on past achievements or am I walking daily in humble obedience to God? *2. The Forceful Decimation of a Great General* a. King Saul ended his record as the first king in Israel who committed suicide and thus, ending his God-given life forcefully. He could have perished in the battle and still made heaven if in his final hours he decided to cry to God for mercy and forgiveness. Rather than trust God in his final crisis, Saul took his own life after asking his armour-bearer to kill him. His armour-bearer refused, and Saul fell upon his own sword. His death was quickly followed by that of his sons and many loyal servants. b. If Saul had not been king and he maintained his lowly lifestyle before he became king he might have made heaven. Was it his being anointed as king that made him to perish? NO. The bitterness, envy, jealousy and hatred in his heart was never dealt with. Eventually, he grew wings and became hardened in the heart. Never gloss over any filthiness in your heart. Ask God to cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus and remove them. If they are not removed, they will turn to untamed lions in the house. b. A leader's fall often affects many others. Saul did not die alone. An unchecked rampaging leader will bring destruction not only to himself, but to others too. Saul's end illustrates the destructive consequences of persistent rebellion and self-reliance. The greatest safeguard in times of distress is unwavering confidence in God's mercy and guidance. *Question* Does my life and leadership encourage others toward faithfulness or can my spiritual decline harm those who follow me? *3. The Final Disgrace of the Graceless and the Godless* a. After Saul's death, Israel fled, the cities were abandoned. *"They (Israel) forsook their cities and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them"*. Do we pity these godless citizens (Israelites) for losing their inheritance, including land, to the enemies? When Saul failed to concentrate on governance, but rather left the throne to chase David, did any citizen caution him apart from Samuel. Everybody kept mum. Some out of fear and some out of desire for favour while some were just nonchallant. We should be careful to humbly and politely ensure that leaders are made accountable and helped when it appears they are derailing. Leaders need our prayers and support while they are in the path of right while they need our loving and gentle reminder of the truth whenever they are in the path of wrong. Nobody, no matter how great, has immunity from falling. Lucifer had no rival, but he fell. Judas saw, lived and dined with the Lord Jesus Christ face to face, he fell. Solomon was the wisest king, but he foolishly and fatally fell. King Saul was unfaithful to God, disobeyed His Word, consulted a medium and failed to seek the Lord. Therefore, God removed him and transferred the kingdom to David. Grace rejected eventually, gives way to disgrace. Without Him, man would be perennially on a bumpy ride, falling into a series of perilous failures. The Church should step in to halt the slide by teaching sound scriptural doctrines to raise God-fearing leaders. We must saturate everywhere with heaven-focused citizens with our preaching and righteous lifestyle. The text not only shows the death of Saul, but also the collapse of a royal dynasty that could have enjoyed lasting honour. It reminds us that a good beginning does not guarantee a glorious ending. Only continual obedience, humility and dependence on God preserve a life, ministry, or family legacy. Those who think that they cannot lose whatever they receive from God, including eternal salvation, should learn from the life and end of Saul. *1. The Fall and Defeat of God's Giants* a. Saul and his sons were once regarded as the giants of Israel's military strength. They fought along with their father to win virtually all their battles except this last one. Even when they were not well prepared, God helped and strengthened them to be terrors to the nations around. *"So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them"* (1 Samuel 14:47). Victory was their birthright because of their allegiance to the God of heaven. He and his sons were giants in the hands of God. This time around, they all fell and were defeated the same day. They were not only captured, but were killed. What an avoidable tragedy that a promising and blessed first Royal family, that could have been a reference point of God's goodness and blessings, experienced. They all perished in a single day. b.How did they fall? It did not happen overnight. First, was the loss of focus. He allowed the enemy and jealousy to shift his attention from his divinely given responsibility to pursuing David who actually was not a threat. The deception of great position, persistence disobedience to the Word of God and the habit of taking God's warnings and Word for granted hardened his heart. The tragedy was not due merely to military weakness, but to spiritual failure that had accumulated over time. When those whom God raises fail to remain faithful, their strength cannot save them. Every believer must guard against drifting from God, regardless of past victories or present status. King Saul did not just lose his exalted blessings, but he also booked, signed and sealed he appointments to eternal condemnation in hell fire. *Question* Am I depending on past achievements or am I walking daily in humble obedience to God? *2. Grace and mercy qualified him especially, because of the deep humility and fear of God in his life as at the time he was made king. King Saul began his reign with great promise. He was divinely chosen, physically impressive and empowered by God for leadership (1 Samuel 10:1, 9). Yet, his life ended in shame because of persistent disobedience, self-will and refusal to seek the Lord sincerely. The text not only shows the death of Saul, but also the collapse of a royal dynasty that could have enjoyed lasting honour. It reminds us that a good beginning does not guarantee a glorious ending. Only continual obedience, humility and dependence on God preserve a life, ministry, or family legacy. Those who think that they cannot lose whatever they receive from God, including eternal salvation, should learn from the life and end of Saul. *1. The Fall and Defeat of God's Giants* a. Saul and his sons were once regarded as the giants of Israel's military strength. They fought along with their father to win virtually all their battles except this last one. Even when they were not well prepared, God helped and strengthened them to be terrors to the nations around. *"So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them"* (1 Samuel 14:47). Victory was their birthright because of their allegiance to the God of heaven. He and his sons were giants in the hands of God. This time around, they all fell and were defeated the same day. They were not only captured, but were killed. What an avoidable tragedy that a promising and blessed first Royal family, that could have been a reference point of God's goodness and blessings, experienced. They all perished in a single day. b.How did they fall? It did not happen overnight. First, was the loss of focus. He allowed the enemy and jealousy to shift his attention from his divinely given responsibility to pursuing David who actually was not a threat. The deception of great position, persistence disobedience to the Word of God and the habit of taking God's warnings and Word for granted hardened his heart. The tragedy was not due merely to military weakness, but to spiritual failure that had accumulated over time. When those whom God raises fail to remain faithful, their strength cannot save them. Every believer must guard against drifting from God, regardless of past victories or present status. King Saul did not just lose his exalted blessings, but he also booked, signed and sealed he appointments to eternal condemnation in hell fire. *Question* Am I depending on past achievements or am I walking daily in humble obedience to God? *2. The Forceful Decimation of a Great General* a. King Saul ended his record as the first king in Israel who committed suicide and thus, ending his God-given life forcefully. He could have perished in the battle and still made heaven if in his final hours he decided to cry to God for mercy and forgiveness. Rather than trust God in his final crisis, Saul took his own life after asking his armour-bearer to kill him. His armour-bearer refused, and Saul fell upon his own sword. His death was quickly followed by that of his sons and many loyal servants. b. If Saul had not been king and he maintained his lowly lifestyle before he became king he might have made heaven. Was it his being anointed as king that made him to perish? NO. The bitterness, envy, jealousy and hatred in his heart was never dealt with. Eventually, he grew wings and became hardened in the heart. Never gloss over any filthiness in your heart. Ask God to cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus and remove them. If they are not removed, they will turn to untamed lions in the house. b. A leader's fall often affects many others. Saul did not die alone. An unchecked rampaging leader will bring destruction not only to himself, but to others too. Saul's end illustrates the destructive consequences of persistent rebellion and self-reliance. The greatest safeguard in times of distress is unwavering confidence in God's mercy and guidance. *Question* Does my life and leadership encourage others toward faithfulness or can my spiritual decline harm those who follow me? *3. The Final Disgrace of the Graceless and the Godless* a. After Saul's death, Israel fled, the cities were abandoned. *"They (Israel) forsook their cities and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them"*. Do we pity these godless citizens (Israelites) for losing their inheritance, including land, to the enemies? When Saul failed to concentrate on governance, but rather left the throne to chase David, did any citizen caution him apart from Samuel. Everybody kept mum. Some out of fear and some out of desire for favour while some were just nonchallant. We should be careful to humbly and politely ensure that leaders are made accountable and helped when it appears they are derailing. Leaders need our prayers and support while they are in the path of right while they need our loving and gentle reminder of the truth whenever they are in the path of wrong. Nobody, no matter how great, has immunity from falling. Lucifer had no rival, but he fell. Judas saw, lived and dined with the Lord Jesus Christ face to face, he fell. Solomon was the wisest king, but he foolishly and fatally fell. King Saul was unfaithful to God, disobeyed His Word, consulted a medium and failed to seek the Lord. Therefore, God removed him and transferred the kingdom to David. Grace rejected eventually, gives way to disgrace. They must look for pivotal men and women who would wholly yield themselves to the shepherding and correction of God. This is key if they want a society that would thrive, prosper and withstand challenges and upheavals of statehood. Now, this requirement holds true also in the different aspects of the workforce of the church. Otherwise, their frailties would destroy them and those they are leading, as in the case of Saul.* *Our Lord is the ultimate Leader. Without Him, man would be perennially on a bumpy ride, falling into a series of perilous failures. The Church should step in to halt the slide by teaching sound scriptural doctrines to raise God-fearing leaders. We must saturate everywhere with heaven-focused citizens with our preaching and righteous lifestyle. He was divinely chosen, physically impressive and empowered by God for leadership (1 Samuel 10:1, 9). Yet, his life ended in shame because of persistent disobedience, self-will and refusal to seek the Lord sincerely. The text not only shows the death of Saul, but also the collapse of a royal dynasty that could have enjoyed lasting honour. It reminds us that a good beginning does not guarantee a glorious ending. Only continual obedience, humility and dependence on God preserve a life, ministry, or family legacy. Those who think that they cannot lose whatever they receive from God, including eternal salvation, should learn from the life and end of Saul. *1. The Fall and Defeat of God's Giants* a. Saul and his sons were once regarded as the giants of Israel's military strength. They fought along with their father to win virtually all their battles except this last one. Even when they were not well prepared, God helped and strengthened them to be terrors to the nations around. *"So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them"* (1 Samuel 14:47). Victory was their birthright because of their allegiance to the God of heaven. He and his sons were giants in the hands of God. This time around, they all fell and were defeated the same day. They were not only captured, but were killed. What an avoidable tragedy that a promising and blessed first Royal family, that could have been a reference point of God's goodness and blessings, experienced. They all perished in a single day. b.How did they fall? It did not happen overnight. First, was the loss of focus. He allowed the enemy and jealousy to shift his attention from his divinely given responsibility to pursuing David who actually was not a threat. The deception of great position, persistence disobedience to the Word of God and the habit of taking God's warnings and Word for granted hardened his heart. The tragedy was not due merely to military weakness, but to spiritual failure that had accumulated over time. When those whom God raises fail to remain faithful, their strength cannot save them. Every believer must guard against drifting from God, regardless of past victories or present status. King Saul did not just lose his exalted blessings, but he also booked, signed and sealed he appointments to eternal condemnation in hell fire. *Question* Am I depending on past achievements or am I walking daily in humble obedience to God? *2. The Forceful Decimation of a Great General* a. King Saul ended his record as the first king in Israel who committed suicide and thus, ending his God-given life forcefully. He could have perished in the battle and still made heaven if in his final hours he decided to cry to God for mercy and forgiveness. Rather than trust God in his final crisis, Saul took his own life after asking his armour-bearer to kill him. His armour-bearer refused, and Saul fell upon his own sword. His death was quickly followed by that of his sons and many loyal servants. b. If Saul had not been king and he maintained his lowly lifestyle before he became king he might have made heaven. Was it his being anointed as king that made him to perish? NO. The bitterness, envy, jealousy and hatred in his heart was never dealt with. Eventually, he grew wings and became hardened in the heart. Never gloss over any filthiness in your heart. Ask God to cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus and remove them. If they are not removed, they will turn to untamed lions in the house. b. A leader's fall often affects many others. Saul did not die alone. An unchecked rampaging leader will bring destruction not only to himself, but to others too. Saul's end illustrates the destructive consequences of persistent rebellion and self-reliance. The greatest safeguard in times of distress is unwavering confidence in God's mercy and guidance. *Question* Does my life and leadership encourage others toward faithfulness or can my spiritual decline harm those who follow me? *3. The Final Disgrace of the Graceless and the Godless* a. After Saul's death, Israel fled, the cities were abandoned. *"They (Israel) forsook their cities and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them"*. Do we pity these godless citizens (Israelites) for losing their inheritance, including land, to the enemies? When Saul failed to concentrate on governance, but rather left the throne to chase David, did any citizen caution him apart from Samuel. Everybody kept mum. Some out of fear and some out of desire for favour while some were just nonchallant. We should be careful to humbly and politely ensure that leaders are made accountable and helped when it appears they are derailing. Leaders need our prayers and support while they are in the path of right while they need our loving and gentle reminder of the truth whenever they are in the path of wrong. Nobody, no matter how great, has immunity from falling. Lucifer had no rival, but he fell. Judas saw, lived and dined with the Lord Jesus Christ face to face, he fell. Solomon was the wisest king, but he foolishly and fatally fell. King Saul was unfaithful to God, disobeyed His Word, consulted a medium and failed to seek the Lord. Therefore, God removed him and transferred the kingdom to David. Grace rejected eventually, gives way to disgrace. Even when they were not well prepared, God helped and strengthened them to be terrors to the nations around. *"So Saul took the kingdom over Israel, and fought against all his enemies on every side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the kings of Zobah, and against the Philistines: and whithersoever he turned himself, he vexed them"* (1 Samuel 14:47). Victory was their birthright because of their allegiance to the God of heaven. He and his sons were giants in the hands of God. This time around, they all fell and were defeated the same day. They were not only captured, but were killed. What an avoidable tragedy that a promising and blessed first Royal family, that could have been a reference point of God's goodness and blessings, experienced. They all perished in a single day. b.How did they fall? It did not happen overnight. First, was the loss of focus. He allowed the enemy and jealousy to shift his attention from his divinely given responsibility to pursuing David who actually was not a threat. The deception of great position, persistence disobedience to the Word of God and the habit of taking God's warnings and Word for granted hardened his heart. The tragedy was not due merely to military weakness, but to spiritual failure that had accumulated over time. When those whom God raises fail to remain faithful, their strength cannot save them. Every believer must guard against drifting from God, regardless of past victories or present status. King Saul did not just lose his exalted blessings, but he also booked, signed and sealed he appointments to eternal condemnation in hell fire. *Question* Am I depending on past achievements or am I walking daily in humble obedience to God? *2. The Forceful Decimation of a Great General* a. King Saul ended his record as the first king in Israel who committed suicide and thus, ending his God-given life forcefully. He could have perished in the battle and still made heaven if in his final hours he decided to cry to God for mercy and forgiveness. Rather than trust God in his final crisis, Saul took his own life after asking his armour-bearer to kill him. His armour-bearer refused, and Saul fell upon his own sword. His death was quickly followed by that of his sons and many loyal servants. b. If Saul had not been king and he maintained his lowly lifestyle before he became king he might have made heaven. Was it his being anointed as king that made him to perish? NO. The bitterness, envy, jealousy and hatred in his heart was never dealt with. Eventually, he grew wings and became hardened in the heart. Never gloss over any filthiness in your heart. Ask God to cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus and remove them. If they are not removed, they will turn to untamed lions in the house. b. A leader's fall often affects many others. Saul did not die alone. An unchecked rampaging leader will bring destruction not only to himself, but to others too. Saul's end illustrates the destructive consequences of persistent rebellion and self-reliance. The greatest safeguard in times of distress is unwavering confidence in God's mercy and guidance. *Question* Does my life and leadership encourage others toward faithfulness or can my spiritual decline harm those who follow me? *3. The Final Disgrace of the Graceless and the Godless* a. After Saul's death, Israel fled, the cities were abandoned. *"They (Israel) forsook their cities and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them"*. Do we pity these godless citizens (Israelites) for losing their inheritance, including land, to the enemies? When Saul failed to concentrate on governance, but rather left the throne to chase David, did any citizen caution him apart from Samuel. Everybody kept mum. Some out of fear and some out of desire for favour while some were just nonchallant. We should be careful to humbly and politely ensure that leaders are made accountable and helped when it appears they are derailing. Leaders need our prayers and support while they are in the path of right while they need our loving and gentle reminder of the truth whenever they are in the path of wrong. Nobody, no matter how great, has immunity from falling. Lucifer had no rival, but he fell. Judas saw, lived and dined with the Lord Jesus Christ face to face, he fell. Solomon was the wisest king, but he foolishly and fatally fell. King Saul was unfaithful to God, disobeyed His Word, consulted a medium and failed to seek the Lord. Therefore, God removed him and transferred the kingdom to David. Grace rejected eventually, gives way to disgrace. It began with the breach of God's express commandment. Saul disobeyed the Lord, and followed it up, not with repentance, but with more sinful conduct. Even at the point of death, he enacted the final iniquity: suicide.* *It is not enough for nations and their institutions of administration to seek leaders to guide them. They must look for pivotal men and women who would wholly yield themselves to the shepherding and correction of God. This is key if they want a society that would thrive, prosper and withstand challenges and upheavals of statehood. Now, this requirement holds true also in the different aspects of the workforce of the church. Otherwise, their frailties would destroy them and those they are leading, as in the case of Saul.* *Our Lord is the ultimate Leader. Without Him, man would be perennially on a bumpy ride, falling into a series of perilous failures. The Church should step in to halt the slide by teaching sound scriptural doctrines to raise God-fearing leaders. We must saturate everywhere with heaven-focused citizens with our preaching and righteous lifestyle.
