2 Samuel 11

1 In the spring, at the time when kings march out to war, David sent out Joab and his servants with the whole army of Israel. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah, but David remained in Jerusalem.
2 One evening David got up from his bed and strolled around on the roof of the palace. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing—a very beautiful woman.
3 So David sent and inquired about the woman, and he was told, “This is Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite.”
4 Then David sent messengers to get her, and when she came to him, he slept with her. (Now she had just purified herself from her uncleanness.) Then she returned home.
5 And the woman conceived and sent word to David, saying, “I am pregnant.”
6 At this, David sent orders to Joab: “Send me Uriah the Hittite.” So Joab sent him to David.

GOD'S WORD FOR THE DAY

“Serving God With a Willing Heart”

1 Chronicles 12:38

“All these men of war, who could keep ranks, came to Hebron with a loyal heart, to make David king over all Israel.”

This is the Word of God. 1 Chronicles 12 describes how men from different tribes came together to support David and unite Israel. Though they came from different backgrounds, they shared one purpose and gave themselves willingly to something greater than themselves.

God also calls us to serve with a loyal and willing heart. Our gifts, abilities, and backgrounds may be different, but when our hearts are united in God's purpose, He can use us powerfully.

The question is not simply whether we have something to offer, but whether we are willing to offer it wholeheartedly. God can accomplish great things through people who are united, faithful, and willing to serve.

May God give us loyal hearts, willing spirits, and a shared passion to serve His purposes faithfully wherever He has placed us. Amen.

Dear God, thank You for bringing me through another day. As I get ready to rest tonight, I’m being honest with You about what I’ve been feeding my soul lately. Your word in Matthew 4:4 says, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” God, I’ve spent so much time craving things this world offers, things, success, recognition, and not nearly enough time craving You. That’s probably why I’ve felt anxious, restless, and disconnected. Help me build a real devotion life, not just going through the motions, but actually wanting more of Your presence. Show me who I’m spending my time with and whether they’re drawing me closer to You or further away. Thank You for hearing my prayer. I give this night to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
