Jason Ashe: The Bible does not directly state that snakes once had legs, but it does imply a dramatic change in their form after the Fall. In Genesis 3:14, when God pronounced judgment on the serpent, He declared: “Cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.” The phrase “on your belly you shall go” strongly suggests that the serpent did not always move in this way. Before God’s curse, it likely had another form of locomotion—walking on limbs. Remarkably, discoveries in the fossil record confirm what Scripture implied thousands of years ago. Since 2012, paleontologists have unearthed four separate fossils of snakes with fully formed legs. Evolutionary illustrations typically depict creatures gradually developing new limbs and gaining new features over time. Yet here we find the opposite: snakes with fully formed limbs that later became limbless. Losing functional limbs is hardly an example of becoming more advanced or better equipped for life; in many environments, the loss of limbs would mean losing a useful means of movement. Rather than demonstrating creatures evolving upward into new forms, these fossils reveal the loss of an existing feature—a process that can rightly be described as “de-evolution.” This aligns directly with Genesis, where the serpent’s form was altered by God’s judgment. Evolutionary scientists claim humans have only existed for about 200,000 years, while these legged snake fossils are dated at more than 140 million years. Yet Scripture—written long before any such fossils were discovered—already recorded that the serpent did not always crawl. If the Bible were merely human invention, how could it describe details about snakes that science would only “discover” thousands of years later? These findings provide a striking confirmation of the reliability of God’s Word. What skeptics once dismissed as myth is now supported by physical evidence in the fossil record. The existence of legged snakes affirms the historical accuracy of Genesis 3, demonstrating that the Bible contains truths far beyond human imagination. While evolutionary theory continues to shift with each new discovery, the Word of God remains unshaken—proving that “the Scripture cannot be broken” (John 10:35).

Patsy and I have been married eight years. Before we met, we had both been widowed. She had been married 43 years to her late husband. I had been married 50 years to my late wife. The story of how the two of us met, fell in love and married is a testimony of God's grace and favor. During the time we've been married, we have served in ministry to the widowed community we lived in in Texas. We also served in marriage support ministry (we still do) offering premarital counseling to couples soon to be married, or to the very newly married. We also have ministered to couples who were experiencing troubles in their marriages. When we moved from Texas to Arkansas in 2021, we became involved in ministry to the addiction recovery community. The area in Arkansas where we lived has a major meth addiction problem. There are quire a few Christian ministries serving the recovery community there. She and I taught Bible classes at some of the recovery houses, and both of us engaged in much one on one support to those within the recovery houses. Upon moving to Arkansas, we began attending a particular church. There we were asked to form and lead a seniors ministry group. We did that until later when we felt that God was leading us to make a change. Then we moved to another church. This one was heavily engaged in the addiction recovery ministry. This church was growing and God was doing some wonderful things there. Lives greatly changed, and the bonds of addiction broken for many. Something happened, and I won't go into the details, but the church was suddenly abandoned. We had no pastor and we lost the building. It seemed that the intent was for the church to close, and for the attendees to find other churches to attend. But both Patsy and I, and several others felt that God was not through with the ministry of that church Both of us felt that this was what God had put us there for. I was able to get the non-profit corp. signed over to me, and took on the role of lead pastor. But we had no place to meet. and a goodly number of the former members had moved on to other churches. Every week we scrambled to find a place to meet. Renting whatever venue might be available for that Sunday. We had no equipment including no sound system for praise and worship time. We had nothing But God provided. We borrowed sound equipment and even folding chairs. We had different ones help us conduct our praise and worship time. And I brought the Word God had for us that day. Soon we were offered the use of an American Legion hall for Sunday mornings. The fee was very good as our numbers were small, and in that community, offerings were very small as well By the way, this American Legion hall had no bar so that was a plus. During that time we were able to slowly accumulate a few pieces of sound equipment. We also had a family join who had been experienced praise and worship leaders. They were musicians thus we now had instruments. Later the opportunity came for us to move into an abandoned church building. The building had not been in use for over five years. It had everything we needed in the way of chairs, a small fellowship room, and Sunday School rooms. It was ready to use for services. No longer did we have to go early every Sunday morning to the AL hall to set up for service and then take down following service. Now we had a six month lease and a regular place to meet. But we knew that God had bigger plans. In November of 2025 we were able to move into a much more capable church building. At the same time, since the couple who lead our praise and worship had been former church pastors, and Patsy and I knew that our time there would soon come to an end, we appointed them associate pastors. In January of 26, this year, we turned the church pastorship over to them. This was in preparation for our planned relocation to Florida. So now, here we are. We have connected with a wonderful church here in our city. We are not involved in leadership. What the future will bring, God only knows. But we will serve as He leads and what doors He opens, we shall see.

Every bandages are broken

Thank You for Your grace, mercy, protection, and faithfulness throughout another week. “It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed… They are new every morning” (Lamentations 3:22–23). Lord, today we ask You to order our steps. Direct our decisions, conversations, relationships, families, finances, careers, and ministries. Help us to trust You even when we cannot see what lies ahead. Your Word says, “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:6). Father, strengthen those who are tired, discouraged, grieving, or carrying burdens privately. Remind us that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1). Touch those who are sick mentally, physically, and emotionally. Bring healing, deliverance, peace, and restoration according to Your will. Strengthen caregivers and give wisdom to doctors and medical professionals. Bless our families. Restore broken relationships, bring peace into our homes, protect our children and loved ones, and let our households declare, “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD” (Joshua 24:15). Lord, provide for those seeking employment, financial increase, and open doors. We stand on Your promise: “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). Father, prepare us for what is ahead. When You say move, give us courage to move. When You say wait, give us patience. When You close a door, help us trust You. When You open one, give us faith to walk through it. Protect us throughout this weekend. “The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in” (Psalm 121:8). Choose Forgiveness (Ephesians 4:32) Almost everyone knows what it feels like to be hurt. Someone breaks your trust. A friend betrays you. Someone says something that stays in your heart for years. A relationship ends painfully. Someone treats you unfairly. And sometimes the hardest part isn't the pain itself. It's deciding what to do with that pain. You may feel like holding on to anger will protect you. You may think: “They don't deserve my forgiveness.” And perhaps what happened was genuinely wrong. But Jesus calls us to something greater than revenge. The Bible says: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Forgiveness doesn't mean pretending that what happened was acceptable. It doesn't mean saying that the person didn't hurt you. It doesn't mean you must immediately trust someone who has broken your trust. And forgiveness doesn't always mean reconciliation. Sometimes healthy boundaries are necessary. But forgiveness means refusing to allow someone else's wrongdoing to control your heart forever. It means releasing your desire for revenge and placing justice in God's hands. Jesus gave us the ultimate example. He was betrayed. Rejected. Mocked. Beaten. Crucified. Yet even while suffering on the cross, He prayed for those who were hurting Him. That is the power of God's grace. And if Christ has forgiven us, we are called to extend that grace to others. Think about how much God has forgiven you. Every mistake. Every sinful thought. Every wrong decision. Every time you ignored His voice. Every time you chose your own way. We stand in need of grace too. That doesn't make someone else's wrongdoing insignificant. It reminds us that we are also people who need forgiveness. Maybe today you're carrying anger toward someone. You don't have to pretend everything is fine. Bring the pain to God. Tell Him exactly how you feel. Ask Him to heal your heart. Ask Him to help you forgive. And if necessary, establish wise boundaries. But don't let bitterness become your identity. Bitterness can consume the person carrying it more than the person who caused the hurt. Forgiveness sets your heart free. Sometimes forgiveness happens in one decision. Sometimes it is a process. You may have to surrender the same pain to God repeatedly. That's okay. Keep giving it to Him. Keep praying. Keep healing. Keep choosing grace. And remember that forgiveness doesn't mean you have to forget the lesson. You can forgive someone and still learn from what happened. You can forgive and still protect yourself. You can forgive and still choose wisdom. You can forgive without returning to an unhealthy situation. Forgiveness is not weakness. It is freedom. If you have hurt someone, don't only ask God for forgiveness. Where appropriate, have the courage to apologize. Say: “I was wrong.” “I'm sorry.” “Please forgive me.” Humility can begin the healing of a relationship. And if someone has hurt you, ask God for the strength to release the bitterness. You may not be able to change what happened. But with God's help, you can choose what happens next. Don't let yesterday's pain steal today's peace. Give your hurt to God and choose forgiveness.
