• Good evening to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.

Thank you so much for understanding that my brain was not braining very well this morning. Then, after church, I had to catch up on my mowing. After that, I took a time out and then had to go to the store. So a full day indeed.

For those who did not see my Facebook Live this morning, I would like to give you the shortened version. Essentially, I gave thanks to God above for a wonderful blessing yesterday at the benefit. I gave thanks to all the sponsors for their support. I gave thanks to all who attended and supported the family in need. I wished all dads a Happy Father’s Day and then … I proclaimed just how powerful My God is. That, regardless of the detours, the pitfalls, the potholes, that the enemy tried to put in front of us, My God … prevailed. And when you place your faith in Him … completely … you see the miracles unfold right in front of your eyes. As we did yesterday. A blessed day full of His blessings.

Today has been a bit slower. A wonderful message at church. A baptism. After which, I was blessed with 3 solid hours on a mower, in the country, in the cool of mid-morning (which this time of year should be blazing … but … not today), and I beat the rain. Tomorrow will be a writing day, I believe. We have to take the truck for an oil change, and my car is still out of commission. So I will drive it down, walk home, wait for them to let us know it is done, and walk back to get it. I will get some steps tomorrow for sure. Haha.

One thing that has been reinforced with me over the last couple of months while compiling tasks for this benefit … is that when you are working for the glory of God, Satan gets really upset. Now, I knew this already, but he has really been upset with me. Friday, I was delayed in town because I forgot something for the benefit. Then, when I got home and started to unload the truck, the cargo had shifted, and BBQ sauces fell out and splattered all over my shoes and clothes. I just shook my head and said loudly, “Really”. Then, after the event, I was putting food in the freezer, one container was extremely full of beans, and when the shelf above collapsed from the weight that was on it, that pan spewed baked beans all over my boots and porch floor. I probably did say a bad word, to be fair, but then I just laughed and told my friend that I must really be under the enemy’s skin today. I am not a big baked bean fan in the first place, but I certainly did not want to wear them … twice. To make his tantrum better, today, he let me fall at the store when I picked up the ice cream. My back jarred, and my pride was embarrassed, but afterwards, I just laughed and told the gentleman who helped me up, “Don’t get old, it sucks.” He laughed because he is at least as old as me. Haha. .

For him to be giving me this much attention, I must really be annoying him. I am okay with that. That means that I am on the right path … God’s path. The more the enemy tries to derail you, the more you can be assured you are walking in the direction you are supposed to.

Tonight, give your menfolk a hearty hug for Father’s Day. In your prayers, give thanks to the One who gave you life. And remember that even in the darkness or cloudiness, there is always a glimmer of Hope and Light and Love. You just have to be open to seeing it.

    Be blessed.

  • Happy Father's Day.

And as with most holidays, I know today lands a little differently depending on who is reading this.

For some of you, today is easy. You get to call your dad. Maybe you'll have a barbecue. Maybe you'll sit around telling stories that have somehow gotten slightly more dramatic every year they've been told. Maybe you'll laugh about old family memories and roll your eyes at the same dad jokes you've heard for decades. Those are gifts. Don't take them for granted.

For some of you, though, today hurts.

Maybe your dad is already Home. Maybe Father's Day means remembering a man whose voice you can still hear in your head even though it's been years since you've heard it with your ears. Maybe it means wishing you could ask one more question, hear one more story, get one more piece of advice, or just sit across the table from him one more time.

And for some people, Father's Day is hard for a completely different reason. Not because your father is gone, but because the relationship was never what it should have been. Not everyone has memories filled with support, encouragement, and safety. Sometimes Father's Day can feel less like a celebration and more like a reminder of what should have been but wasn't.

Then there are the men who desperately wanted children and never had them. The fathers who have buried a son or daughter. The grandfathers who miss the grandkids who moved away. The stepdads wondering if the children they helped raise really know how much they love them. The foster dads who opened their homes and hearts knowing goodbyes would eventually come. The men who became father figures simply because a kid needed somebody to show up.

Many of the most important things fathers do aren't the big dramatic moments. They're the thousands of ordinary ones.

It's getting up and going to work when you'd rather stay home. It's fixing things nobody notices unless they break. It's carrying burdens quietly. It's teaching a child how to work, how to keep their word, how to treat people, how to pray, how to keep going when life gets hard.

It's being tired and showing up anyway.

A lot of fathers don't get thanked nearly enough.

The funny thing is that when we're kids, we assume our parents know everything. Then we become adults and realize they were figuring things out as they went, just like the rest of us. They made mistakes. They worried more than we knew. They carried responsibilities we never saw. And somehow, despite all that, many of them kept putting one foot in front of the other and doing the best they could.

So today, if your dad is still here, give him a call.

If he's already Home, spend a few minutes remembering him.

If Father's Day is painful, know that you're not alone.

And to all the dads, grandpas, stepdads, foster dads, adoptive dads, and father figures out there: thank you.

The world changes because ordinary men choose, day after day, to love, lead, provide, protect, teach, and show up.

That may not always make headlines.

But it matters more than most people realize.

    _________________________________
Providing truths from God’s Word to help us become more like Jesus…
Proverbs 4:1-2: "Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction; pay attention and gain understanding. I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching."

WHAT DOES GOD THINK ABOUT FATHERS?

A couple of weeks back on Mother’s Day I asked the same question about mothers. Today it’s the dads turn…
When we think about God, the Bible doesn’t just describe Him as a distant creator or a powerful force. Instead, Jesus consistently used one specific word to help us understand who God is: Father. Because God chooses to identify Himself as a parent, the role of an earthly father holds immense weight and purpose in His eyes.
So, what does God actually think about fathers? God views fatherhood as a living, breathing picture of His own character. He created fathers to be a child's very first glimpse of what a loving protector looks like. When a father provides for, protects, and stays present with his children, he is mirroring God’s heart. King David beautifully captured this when he wrote, "As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him" (Psalm 103:13). To God, a father is not just an extra set of hands in a household; he is a crucial vessel designed to show children what divine love and mercy look like in action.
God places an incredible amount of value on a father's influence. He views fathers as spiritual leaders who have the unique privilege of shaping the next generation. In the Old Testament, God urged fathers to weave faith into the fabric of everyday life—talking about His truths while sitting at home, walking along the road, and going to bed (Deuteronomy 6:6-7). God thinks so highly of a father's voice that He trusts them to pass down wisdom and integrity. When a man lives righteously, God promises that the ripple effect will bless his kids for years to come: "The righteous lead blameless lives; blessed are their children after them" (Proverbs 20:7).
Because the job is so important, God is very specific about how a father should lead. He doesn't want fathers to rule with an iron fist or rely on harsh intimidation. God values a father's tenderness just as much as his strength. The New Testament makes this incredibly clear: "Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord" (Ephesians 6:4). Another verse warns fathers not to embitter their kids, so they won't lose heart (Colossians 3:21). God knows that a child's heart is fragile. He expects fathers to discipline with patience and to teach with kindness, ensuring their home is a place of encouragement, not discouragement.
The Ultimate Comfort: God knows that earthly fathers are human and will make mistakes. For those who didn't have a good father, or are grieving the loss of one, God promises to step into that gap Himself as a "father to the fatherless" (Psalm 68:5).
Ultimately, God sees fatherhood as a high calling, a heavy responsibility, and a beautiful gift. He values fathers so much that He stands ready to give them the wisdom, patience, and strength they need every single day. No father has to walk this road alone. When the pressure feels overwhelming, God invites men to lean on His perfect example, promising to supply infinite grace for every mistake and guidance for every difficult decision. By trusting in Him, earthly fathers can leave a lasting, faithful legacy that echoes into eternity. This daily reliance transforms ordinary parenting into a powerful ministry. Long after toys are forgotten and sports seasons end, it is a father's steady, Christ-like character that will firmly anchor his children's hearts in truth for a lifetime. Amen!

TO ALL DADS: Happy Father’s Day!

Closing prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the high calling of being a father. I confess that I cannot do this in my own strength, and I need Your wisdom and patience every single day. Forgive me for the moments I lose my temper or fail to reflect Your love.
Help me to lead my family with a gentle spirit, never exasperating my children, but anchoring their hearts in Your truth. Let my daily life be a clear picture of Your grace. Guide my steps, Lord, so that I may leave a faithful, lasting legacy that points them straight to You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

  • Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, granddads, stepdads, and father figures who show up day after day with love, strength, and quiet sacrifice. Today we celebrate not only the big moments, but the little things that often go unnoticed…the early mornings, the long workdays, the words of encouragement, the lessons taught by example, the prayers whispered for your family, and the steady presence that makes a house feel like home. Thank you for every ball game attended, every tear wiped away, every hard conversation, every act of patience, and every time you put your family’s needs ahead of your own. Your impact is greater than you know. The seeds you plant through your love, guidance, integrity, and faith will continue to grow for generations. May you feel appreciated, honored, and deeply loved today. A father’s greatest legacy isn’t what he leaves behind, it’s who he raises up. Happy Father’s Day. The world is better because of you. Thank you! Pappy Flynn

  • AMAZING FACTS
    Daily Devotionals

    Like Father.

    April 23rd, 2026

Do newborns typically look more like their mothers or their fathers? It depends on whom you ask. In-laws invariably see in their grandchild the facial features of their son or daughter. New mothers often see the features of their husband in their baby. But looks obviously can change. That shock of black hair on your newborn might totally disappear and you may eventually have a blond-haired child.

In a 1995 study at the University of California, people were supposedly much better at matching photos of one-year-old children with their fathers than with photos of their mothers. But many follow-up studies that tried to duplicate this study found that most infants resemble both parents equally. What appears to hold more truth is that dads who tend to resemble their babies on average spend more time with them. And the more attention babies get from their dads, the healthier they are by the age of one (Journal of Health Economics, January 2018).

The Bible tells us that people were created in the likeness of God. “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness” (Genesis 1:26). When the Lord created animals—like birds, fish, reptiles, insects, and mammals— they were made “according to their kind” (v. 21). But humans were made after the divine type, not after some stripe in the animal kingdom.

In an age when many scientists claim that humans have evolved from animals, the Scriptures place a clear line of division between humanity and animals. In fact, Luke goes so far as to plainly call Adam “the son of God” (Luke 3:38). All people may trace their lineage back to Adam and Eve, for God “has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth” (Acts 17:26). That means in some way we all share the likeness of our heavenly Father.

    Apply It:

Do you look more like your mother or your father? Did that change over time? You can grow to look more like your heavenly Father.

    Dig Deeper:

    Psalm 8:4–9; Romans 5:12, 19; 1 Corinthians 15:21, 22

    Key Bible Texts
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. (1 John 3:2 KJV)

Apply It: Do you look more like your mother or your father? Did that change over time? You can grow to look more like your heavenly Father. Dig Deeper: Psalm 8:4–9; Romans 5:12, 19; 1 Corinthians 15:21, 22 Key Bible Texts Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. (1 John 3:2 KJV)
