As Peter attempted to respond by suggesting that three tabernacles be built, a cloud suddenly overshadowed them. From the cloud came the voice of God declaring This is My beloved Son Hear Him. This declaration confirmed the identity and authority of Jesus. God the Father was affirming that Jesus was not merely a teacher or prophet. He was the beloved Son, the One whose words carried divine authority. The command Hear Him was also significant.
