  • Human beings are not each other’s enemies… then who is humanity’s true enemy?

In our lives, there are people who speak against us, hurt us, deceive us, or oppose us. Because of this, we may think, “This person is my enemy.”

But the Bible reveals a deeper spiritual truth.

    Ephesians 6:12 says:

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world, and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

    What is Satan’s purpose?

He wants to create hatred, jealousy, conflict, unforgiveness, and division between people.

Because if you see another human being as your enemy, you may begin to hate that person.

But when you understand this spiritual truth, you can say:

“I will not hate this person; I will pray for them, and I will not give Satan’s work a place in my life.”

    What did Jesus teach?

“Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
    — Matthew 5:44

Therefore, our battle is not about defeating people; it is about refusing to fall for Satan’s deception.

Our weapon is not hatred—it is love.
Our weapon is not revenge—it is forgiveness.
Our weapon is not fear—it is faith.
Our weapon is not violence against people—it is God’s Word and prayer.

    Remember:

Do not consider human beings your enemies.
    Recognize the work of Satan.
    Stand firm in God’s truth.
And pray even for those who have hurt you.

Because Christ has not called us to conquer people, but to overcome darkness with the light.

  • Devotion: Jeremiah 23:29

“My message is like a fire, and like a hammer that breaks rocks to pieces.” GNB

When we look at the world today, we can see the destruction, the immorality, the evil that is consuming everyone and everything. People have lost their way. They have turned their backs on God and mock those who still follow the path of righteousness. We are, in fact being tormented by Lucifer himself. He roams earth and seeks whom he can destroy.

Revelation 12:9 & 17: “The huge dragon was thrown out – that ancient serpent, called the Devil, or Satan, that deceived the whole world. He was thrown down to earth, and all his angels with him….. The dragon was furious with the woman and went off to fight against the rest of her descendants, all those who obey God’s commandments and are faithful to the truth revealed by Jesus.” GNB

Thus the battle is on-going and, if not for the help of the holy Host and God Himself, believers would be far worse off than they are. We have been forewarned, though, and we have been given a means to fight this battle. You see, God’s Word can be wielded in battle against the evil that seeks to destroy us!

Ephesians 6:12: “For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, the authorities, and the cosmic powers of this dark age.” GNB

The Word of God is a double-edged sword which can cut through to your soul. It is powerful and holds truths which can lead you to salvation. You will be unable to ignore the message. The Word of God is also a true weapon, a sharp sword that can defend us against the darkness in the world. It is described as part of the armour of God in Ephesians.

Ephesians 6:17: “And accept salvation as a helmet, and the word of God as the sword which the Spirit gives you.” GNB

The onslaught of the enemy is subtle. He will come dressed up and pretty, like an angel of light, but in the end he will try to bring you down (2 Corinthians 11:14). But you don’t have to fear this fight, for God Himself and His angels, the Holy Host, will fight with you. If you wield the Word as a sword, you will be victorious. Look again at the scripture for today. God says His Word is like fire and like a hammer; it will burn those against you and break them into pieces.

Jeremiah 5:14: “…I will make my words like a fire in your mouth. The people will be like wood, and the fire will burn them up.” GNB

And here, directly from scripture, from the Word of God, comes comfort and encouragement, for God will NOT ABANDON you in the midst of your strife. He WILL fight with you with a power that no-one can imagine.

1 John 4:4: “But you belong to God, my children, and have defeated the false prophets, because the Spirit who is in you is more powerful than the spirit in those who belong to the world.” GNB

  • WHAT HAPPENS WHEN PROPHECY MEETS DESTINY?

Can the words spoken over one generation become reality in another?

Can a person become a victim of a spiritual consequence they did not personally create?

Can someone become a beneficiary of a prophetic word because of what someone before them did?

These questions take us into some of the most fascinating accounts in Scripture.

    Hiel rebuilding Jericho.

Ahaziah becoming entangled in the consequences surrounding Ahab.

Amalek facing a trans-generational conflict with Israel.

Jehu receiving a prophetic promise concerning his dynasty.

Amaziah confronting a dynasty whose prophetic foundation he apparently did not understand.

And the Canaanite woman confronting what appeared to be a spiritual and covenantal barrier through extraordinary faith.

  • The battle you’re facing may look physical, but Scripture reminds us that there is often more happening than what our eyes can see.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood…” — Ephesians 6:12

That’s why we cannot fight spiritual battles with earthly weapons. We fight on our knees. We stand on the Word of God. We put on the full armor of God and trust the One who has already secured the victory.

When the enemy whispers fear, raise the shield of faith.
When lies surround you, fasten the belt of truth.
When your mind becomes a battlefield, put on the helmet of salvation.
And when darkness presses in, lift the sword of the Spirit—the Word of God.

You were never called to fight alone. Stand firm. Stay armored. Keep praying. Jesus has already won the victory.

  • The serpent does not win. Sin does not win. Death does not win. Jesus Christ is victorious.

    https://patrickryanlewis.com/2026/08/11/the-first-gospel-promise-the-serpent-is-defeated-and-christ-is-victorious/

Almost immediately after Adam and Eve sinned, God gave humanity a promise of hope.

In Genesis 3, before the full consequences of the fall had even unfolded, God announced that a Deliverer would come. The serpent would strike His heel, but this promised Champion would crush the serpent’s head.
That promise points us directly to Jesus.

At the cross, what appeared to be defeat became victory. Jesus carried our sin, endured the suffering of Calvary, entered the grave—and then rose again.

    The heel was bruised.

    The serpent’s head was crushed.

And that ancient promise still gives us hope today.

When temptation comes, remember who has already won.

When your past accuses you, remember the cross.

When guilt overwhelms you, remember the grace of Christ.

When life seems hopeless, remember the empty tomb.

The battle is real, but its final outcome has already been decided.

Jesus Christ is victorious—and everyone who belongs to Him shares in the hope of His victory.

  • “The devil didn’t force Adam and Eve to sin… he first attacked their trust in God.”

In Genesis 3, what did the devil do first?

    “Did God really say that?”

He planted doubt about God’s Word.

    Then he said,
    “You will certainly not die.”

He twisted the truth that God had spoken.

And then Eve began to think,
“Maybe God is keeping something good from me…”

    And that’s where it started:

    Doubt → Deception → Desire → Disobedience

The devil’s strategy is still the same today.

First, he tries to make you doubt God’s Word…
Then, he makes you doubt God’s character…
And finally, he leads you to walk against God’s command.

    Trust in God’s Word.
God’s voice is louder than the devil’s voice.

    Stay alert. Stand firm.

  • 𝐓𝐎𝐏𝐈𝐂: 𝐒𝐀𝐂𝐑𝐈𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐈𝐍𝐕𝐎𝐊𝐄𝐒 𝐃𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄

BIBLICAL TEXT: Judges 6:25-26, 28-31 (KJV)

There are battles that continue because evil altars have been given a voice over families, communities, and destinies. Throughout the Scriptures, God demonstrated that before He establishes His covenant, every competing altar must be confronted. A godly sacrifice offered in obedience to God can silence evil voices and provoke divine intervention.

When Gideon obeyed God's instruction to destroy his father's altar of Baal and built an altar unto the Lord, he declared that the God of Israel alone deserved worship. His obedience marked the beginning of Israel's deliverance from the Midianites.

God still honours sacrificial obedience. When your sacrifice is offered with a sincere heart and according to His will, He arises to defend His purpose for your life.

    a) Tearing Down Evil Altars Through Covenant Sacrifice

    God commanded Gideon:

"And build an altar unto the Lord thy God upon the top of this rock... and offer a burnt sacrifice." (Judges 6:26 KJV)

Before God used Gideon to deliver Israel, He instructed him to destroy the altar of Baal. This teaches us that every believer must reject every form of idolatry, compromise, and ungodly foundation. We do not fight evil altars by human strength but through obedience, prayer, faith in Christ, and wholehearted devotion to God.

If there is anything competing with God in your life, it must come down so that His altar can be established.

    b) How Gideon's Sacrifice Provoked Confrontation with Idolatry

When the people discovered that the altar of Baal had been destroyed, they became angry and demanded Gideon's death.

"And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down." (Judges 6:28 KJV)

Every genuine stand for God will face opposition. Darkness does not surrender without resistance. Many believers become discouraged when challenges increase after they decide to follow God wholeheartedly. Yet, opposition is often evidence that the kingdom of darkness has been challenged.

Remain steadfast. God never abandons those who obey Him.

    c) When God Becomes Your Defender Against Household Enemies

Instead of handing Gideon over to the angry crowd, his father defended him, saying:

"If he be a god, let him plead for himself." (Judges 6:31 KJV)

The God who called Gideon became his Defender. What should have ended in his destruction became the beginning of his promotion.

There are times when household opposition, family traditions, or inherited patterns seem determined to resist your progress. Do not fear. When you stand with God, He stands with you.

"The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace." (Exodus 14:14 KJV)

    LIFE APPLICATION

Many people have remained in spiritual bondage because they are afraid to let go of sinful habits, ungodly relationships, or practices that compete with their devotion to God. True freedom begins when you choose complete obedience.

The greatest sacrifice God desires today is not merely an animal offering but a surrendered life.

"I beseech you therefore, brethren... that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God." (Romans 12:1 KJV)

When your life becomes God's altar, He becomes your Defender, your Deliverer, and your Avenger.

    PRAYER POINTS

    1. O Lord, expose and destroy every evil altar speaking against my life and family, in the name of Jesus Christ.

    2. Father, give me the courage to reject every ungodly foundation and establish Your covenant in my life, in the name of Jesus Christ.

    3. Every household power resisting my destiny, be scattered by the fire of God, in the name of Jesus Christ.

    4. O Lord, let my obedience and sacrifice provoke divine intervention in every area of my life, in the name of Jesus Christ.

    5. Every voice speaking against my progress, be silenced by the power of God, in the name of Jesus Christ.

    6. Father, arise and defend me against every visible and invisible enemy assigned against my destiny, in the name of Jesus Christ.

    7. I declare that from today, the Lord shall fight for me, and I shall hold my peace, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
