• Good evening, brethren.
    1. Evening devotion for today.

    ED.i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
    (COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

    *DATE:*
    SUNDAY 23RD AUGUST, 2026.

    *SUB-THEME:*
    YOUTHS: VESSELS OF GOD’S GRACE.

    *TOPIC:*
    PURSUIT OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH.

    *TEXT:*
    EPHESIANS 4:13-14.
    13. until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
    14. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.

    *TOPIC:*
    PURSUIT OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH.

    *THE MESSAGE:*
The Holy Spirit bestows special gifts on believers to equip and edify them for spiritual maturity. The goal is for believers to attain the "unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God", growing into the fullness of Christ (v. 13). Paul contrasts this maturity with spiritual immaturity (v. 14). Warning against being misled by false teachings and deceptive doctrines. Instead, believers are to speak the truth in love, growing up in every way into Christ, who is the Head of the body. Many, especially the young, are misled by human philosophies. For example, relativism - which teaches that there is no absolute truth, what is true for you may not be true for me. Are you growing in the faith? Maintain a consistent life of Prayer, Bible Study, and Christian Fellowship to grow in maturity.

    *REFLECTION:*
    Desire spiritual nourishment.

    *PRAYER:*
Lord, help me to crave spiritual growth. Amen.

    *MEMORY VERSE FOR THE MONTH:*
    2 TIMOTHY 2:21.
"If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be instruments for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master, and prepared to do any good work."

    *TODAY'S BIBLE READING PLAN:*
    EZEKIEL 29-30.

ED.ii. WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT?

"Be filled with the Spirit." - Ephesians 5:18

According to the Bible, the Holy Spirit is a Person. Let this message penetrate your mind. When Jesus speaks about the Holy Spirit, Jesus always refers to 'He'. HE is not a thing but a person. We see in the Bible that the Holy Spirit has a mind, emotions and a will. The Holy Spirit speaks. Revelation 2:7 says: 'Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.'

The Holy Spirit intercedes. Romans 8:26 says: 'The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.'

The Holy Spirit testifies. John 15:26 says: 'The Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father — He will testify about Me.'

The Holy Spirit shows the way. John 16:13 says: 'But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth.'

The Holy Spirit leads. Romans 8:14 says: 'For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.'

The Holy Spirit gives instructions. Acts 16:6 says: '…having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia.'

The Holy Spirit appoints. Acts 20:28 says: 'Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.'

The Holy Spirit is also a Person to whom you can lie. Read the history of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-11. You can insult (see Hebrews 10:29), blaspheme (see Matthew 12:31) and grieve the Spirit (see Ephesians 4:30).

The Holy Spirit is a Divine Person and is everywhere. Today God still wants to fill His children with His Holy Spirit!

    Evening Prayer for today.

    EP.i. Evening Prayer

A Psalm of David. The LORD [is] my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. ⏤ Psalm 23:1-3

God loves importunate prayer so much that He will not give us much blessing without it. ⏤ Adoniram Judson

O Lord, You are our Shepherd; we will lack nothing. You make us lie down in green pastures and lead us beside still waters. You have been our Shepherd today. We have been in Your pastures as we have read Your word and worshiped with Your people.

We bow at Your throne with grateful hearts at the close of this day. We gather up the precious fragments of this day to carry with us, to feed upon in the days ahead. You have kept our feet from stumbling, our eyes from tears, and our souls from death.

We have walked with Jesus, and our hearts have burned within us as He talked with us along the way.

We ask You to fix deep in our hearts all the good impressions, lessons learned, and influences that have touched our lives today. Too often, we make sincere resolves and promises while our hearts are warmed with love, only to forget them tomorrow. Fix this Sunday's teachings so deeply in our minds that we never lose them. May we be stronger in faith, more earnest in purpose, and more holy in thought and feeling because of our communion with You this day.

Ever-living God, who neither slumbers nor sleeps—take charge of our bodies and souls during the dark hours of the night. Give us refreshing rest and sleep. Let tomorrow be sweet and holy, made so by the blessings of Sunday flowing into it. May we carry the fragrance of this day into the world’s life. And to Him who is able to keep us from falling and to present us faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God, our Savior, be glory forever and ever. Amen.

  • DAY 23 - Morning

    Theme: BUILDING A SAFE HOME
Creating a Marriage Where Love, Respect and Peace Can Grow

    Reflection
Respect Is a Language of Love

    Good morning,
Love without respect eventually becomes painful.
You can love someone and still speak to them in a way that wounds their dignity.
Respect means remembering that your spouse is not your opponent.
It means refusing to insult, embarrass, belittle or humiliate them—even when you disagree.
A disagreement should never become permission to destroy someone's dignity.
In many Ghanaian homes, people may tolerate harsh words during an argument because "we are married."
But marriage is precisely where our words should become more careful.

    God's Word
"Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves." — Romans 12:10

    Today's Love Action
Give your spouse one sincere compliment today, preferably about a quality beyond physical appearance.

    Let's Talk
What does respect look like in everyday married life?

    Prayer
Lord, teach us to honour one another even when we disagree. Let respect become part of the language of our home. Amen.

    From The Counselor's Chair
Never use intimacy as permission for disrespect. Familiarity should increase tenderness, not reduce it.

    Marriage Nugget
"The person closest to your heart should never become the easiest person to disrespect."

    Remember
In marriage, it is not about winning the argument; it is about winning each other's hearts.

  • EXHOTHÉOBALD

    Theme: « IL N’Y A RIEN DEHORS : CHRIST SUFFIT ! »

    Colossiens 2:9-10

    Textes complémentaires :
    Jean 15:1-7 ; Philippiens 4:19 ; Psaume 23:1 ; Jean 6:35 ; Colossiens 1:15-20.

    I. POURQUOI L’HOMME CHERCHE-T-IL DEHORS ?

    * notre identité dans les hommes ;
    * notre valeur dans l’argent ;
    * notre sécurité dans les biens ;
    * notre bonheur dans les plaisirs ;
    * notre reconnaissance dans les réseaux sociaux ;
    * notre avenir dans les relations humaines ;
    * notre puissance dans les positions ;
    * notre satisfaction dans les possessions.

    Question au séminaire

    * sa Parole suffit ;
    * sa grâce suffit ;
    * sa présence suffit ;
    * son salut suffit ;
    * son amour suffit ;
    * sa puissance suffit.

III. CHRIST SUFFIT POUR NOTRE SALUT

    Jean 14:6 :

    « Jésus me suffit. »

    CONCLUSION

    CHRIST SUFFIT !

EXHO🇨🇩THÉOBALD Theme: « IL N’Y A RIEN DEHORS : CHRIST SUFFIT ! ⸻ I. POURQUOI L’HOMME CHERCHE-T-IL DEHORS ? ⸻ VII. • DAY 22 - Morning

Theme: LOVE THAT CHOOSES: Making Daily Decisions That Strengthens The Marriage

    Reflection
Make Your Home a Safe Place

    Good Morning!
Home should be more than the place where we sleep.
It should be a place where the heart can rest.
A husband should be able to come home without wondering whether every mistake will become a source of criticism.
A wife should be able to express herself without fearing ridicule.
Children should know that disagreement does not mean the family has stopped loving them.
A safe home doesn't mean there are no disagreements.
It means people can disagree without destroying one another.
In a Christ-centred marriage, love should create an atmosphere where both husband and wife can say:
"I am safe to be honest here."

    God's Word
"Let your gentleness be evident to all." — Philippians 4:5
    Today's Love Action
    Ask your spouse:
"What can I do to make our home feel even safer and more peaceful for you?"
    Listen without becoming defensive.

    Let's Talk
What makes a home emotionally safe?

    Prayer
Lord, make our home a place of peace, honesty, respect and grace. Help us never use each other's weaknesses as weapons. Amen.

    From The Counselor's Chair
A healthy marriage is not one where nobody gets hurt. It is one where hurt can be discussed without fear and repaired with grace.

    Marriage Nugget
"A peaceful home is built when love becomes stronger than fear."

    Remember
In marriage, it is not about winning the argument; it is about winning each other's hearts.

  • Good evening, brethren.
    1. Evening devotion for today.

    ED.i. *DAILY WALK WITH CHRIST*
    (COCIN DEVOTIONAL)

    *DATE:*
    SATURDAY 22ND AUGUST, 2026.

    *SUB-THEME:*
    YOUTHS: VESSELS OF GOD’S GRACE.

    *TOPIC:*
    REQUIRES OBEDIENCE.

    *TEXT:*
    GENESIS 22:2, 16-18.
2 God said, “Please take your son, your unique son whom you love—Isaac—and go to the land of Moriah. Offer him as a burnt offering there on one of the mountains that I will point out to you.” Heb 11:17.
16 and said, “I have taken an oath to swear by Myself,” declares the LORD, “that since you have carried this out and have not withheld your only unique son,
    Luk 1:73 Heb 6:13 [Eze 16:8] [Heb 6:14]
17 I will certainly bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in heaven and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the gates of their enemies. Gen 24:60 [Gen 46:3] [Neh 9:23] [Heb 11:12]
18 Furthermore, through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed my command.”
    Gen 12:3 Gen 18:18 Gen 26:4 Act 3:25 Gal 3:8 [Gen 28:14] [Jer 4:2] [Luk 1:55] [Luk 24:27] [Joh 1:45] [Joh 4:22] [Joh 5:46] [Act 10:43] [Act 13:32] [Act 26:6] [Act 28:23] [Rom 1:2].

    *TOPIC:*
    REQUIRES OBEDIENCE.

    *THE MESSAGE:*
In Christianity, being obedient means listening attentively to divine instruction and responding positively out of reverence for our Creator. When anything else occupies your heart, obeying God becomes difficult. Faithful obedience, as seen in Abraham's prompt response to God's command, requires trust and surrender, not rationalisation. Abraham obeyed God and was willing to sacrifice his only Son, the promised child. Like Jesus, our ultimate example, we must obey even when it is complex and costly. You must give up something of worth. Are you obeying God's instructions, or hesitating? Can you let go of a relationship that you hold so dearly to safeguard your faith? If you struggle, ask God for a heart that responds promptly and faithfully.

    *REFLECTION:*
    Obedience comes with blessings.

    *PRAYER:*
Father, give me the grace to obey You promptly.

    EZEKIEL 24-28.

    ED.ii. WHEN WE COME TOGETHER

"What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up." - 1 Corinthians 14:26

When we come together, we call it a church meeting or service. In a meeting there should be room for the ministry of God's servant, so the church is educated and grows. But it is also important that the entire congregation participates. If you are a member of a church, then you are not a visitor nor a guest, but a member of the Body of Christ. The intention is that every member participates in the meeting. As the congregation consists of several people, it could become hyperactive. When everyone participates at the same time, it then becomes chaotic.

    Order in church

Paul gives us insights about these things in his letters to the Corinthian church. Corinth was a young church with many activities. That is why they needed help with the order during the church service. They had to learn how such a meeting should be because they had recently been born again. There were gifts of the Holy Spirit in the church, but they did not know which gift to give priority to.

They also did not have much experience in dealing with new church members. They did not know how to resolve certain disagreements, etc. Paul wanted to help them. We have gained knowledge about these matters because Paul wrote and explained how everything should work. Paul says that 'the church may be built up' (1 Corinthians 14:26) and in 1 Corinthians 14:40 he says: 'but everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.'

Nobody is to have a hidden agenda. Let us live like the first church did. 'They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer' (Acts 2:42).

    2. Evening Prayer for today.

    EP.i. Evening Prayer

And whatsoever ye do, do [it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; ⏤ Colossians 3:23

God does nothing except in response to believing prayer. ⏤ John Wesley

O God, by the teaching and example of Your dear Son, You have warned us to work Your works while it is day, before the night comes. Give us the spirit of earnestness and diligence so that we may faithfully do the work You’ve given us. Save us from laziness and sloth. Help us to understand the true meaning of life. Enable us by Your grace to do everything with all our might, whatever tasks come our way.

We ask Your forgiveness tonight for where we’ve failed to fulfill our duties. Give us grace and wisdom to use every talent You’ve entrusted to us, so that it may bring blessings and good into the world, and honor and glory to Your name. May we be faithful in every relationship in life. In our home, help us to fulfill our duties so that no part of our home life suffers. Help us to be faithful in all our business, social, church, state, and worldly responsibilities.

We also ask that You teach us how to make all our work Christian work—business for Jesus. Teach us how to do everything for Your glory. Let not our worldly activities steal our hearts away from our heavenly Master. Don’t let us become worldly while we are busy with the things we must do to provide for our bodies. Make all our work a means of grace to us. May we learn to do everything for Jesus. Then we will find a blessing in every task and duty. Grant that in all things we may honor and glorify You, forgetting ourselves. We ask this in the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

  • The Story Behind the Hymns.
THE STORY BEHIND "O THOU WHO CAMEST FROM ABOVE"

“O Thou Who Camest From Above” is a deeply devotional Christian hymn written by Charles Wesley in 1762. The hymn expresses a heartfelt prayer for the Holy Spirit to descend upon the believer, purify the heart, and set the soul ablaze with divine love.

Charles Wesley, one of the founders of the Methodist movement alongside his brother John Wesley, wrote thousands of hymns that helped communicate Christian faith through memorable poetry and song. In this hymn, Wesley draws on the imagery of heavenly fire, asking God to kindle that sacred flame within the human heart.

The opening words, “O Thou who camest from above,” refer to Christ and the divine presence coming from heaven. The hymn then develops the theme of spiritual transformation: the believer longs to be cleansed, strengthened and completely devoted to God.

One of its best-known lines is:

    “Jesus, confirm my heart’s desire
To work, and speak, and think for Thee.”

This captures the central prayer of the hymn that every thought, word and action should be directed toward Christ.

The hymn is particularly associated with the Methodist tradition and has remained popular across Christian denominations. Its message continues to resonate because it is not simply a song of praise; it is a personal prayer for holiness, spiritual renewal and a life completely surrendered to God.

“O Thou Who Camest From Above” reminds believers that Christian service begins with an inward transformation, asking God to light the flame of faith within the heart and keep it burning.
The Story Behind the Hymns. THE STORY BEHIND "O THOU WHO CAMEST FROM ABOVE" “O Thou Who Camest From Above” is a deeply devotional Christian hymn written by Charles Wesley in 1762. One of its best-known lines is: “Jesus, confirm my heart’s desire To work, and speak, and think for Thee.” This captures the central prayer of the hymn that every thought, word and action should be directed toward Christ. The hymn is particularly associated with the Methodist tradition and has remained popular across Christian denominations.
