But when Jesus passed by, Zacchaeus wanted to see Him. Jesus saw him, called him, and went to his house. That encounter with Jesus changed Zacchaeus. He did not remain the same person he was before meeting Christ. 📖 Luke 19:8 Zacchaeus responded by deciding to make things right and give back to those he had wronged. ❤️ Jesus did not reject him because of his past. Jesus reached him because He saw what grace could do in his life. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🌱 THE APPLICATION TO OUR LIVES 1️⃣ YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE PERFECT TO COME TO JESUS. Jesus meets us in our brokenness, failures, and struggles. 2️⃣ NEVER ALLOW YOUR PAST TO KEEP YOU FROM CHRIST. Your past may explain where you have been, but it does not have to determine where you are going. 3️⃣ A TRUE ENCOUNTER WITH JESUS BRINGS CHANGE. Grace does not give us permission to remain the same. It gives us strength to become different. 4️⃣ JESUS STILL SEEKS THE LOST TODAY. The person you think is too far gone may be the very person Jesus is calling. 5️⃣ LET YOUR LIFE BECOME A TESTIMONY. 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐲 ✍️ “𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰, 𝘞𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵, 𝘸𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘸𝘦 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘶𝘦.” Some tasks feel important because people notice them. Others seem so ordinary that we wonder whether they matter at all. We answer emails, clean rooms, finish assignments, serve quietly, raise families, and fulfill responsibilities that may never receive applause. Yet Scripture gives ordinary work eternal weight. The question is not whether our task looks significant—but whether we are doing it for Christ. Whether our work is public or hidden, celebrated or unnoticed, Christ is the true Master we serve. A craftsman may spend hours working on something nobody will ever see inside a finished building. Yet he works carefully because he knows what he is building matters. So it should be with us. Heaven sees what earth overlooks. The unseen task, the ordinary duty, and the quiet responsibility can all become worship when they are done faithfully before the Lord. Don’t work like a mouse that only moves when the cat is away. We are not called to perform when people are watching and relax when they are gone. The task may be ordinary, the audience may be small, and the reward may be unseen—but the Lord sees every faithful hand. Before Christ called us to work, He worked for us. You don't need Christ merely to make your work successful—you need Him to make your work worship. Whatever your hands find to do, do it for Him. The task may be ordinary, but the One we serve is not. *Praising Adonai From Dawn to Dusk* Close your eyes for a moment. And while you do that, picture this wonderfully diverse planet we call home. (Yes, really.) Everything that you just imagined—God created all of it. And God created all of us to worship Him. From north to south and east to west. From bustling cities to slow-paced villages. From lifeless deserts to life-packed forests. From the highest mountains to the farthest oceans. *“From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the Name of the Lord is to be praised!” Psalm 113:3* The sun “rises” and “sets” on all of us. All people, all languages, all nations. All skin colors, eye colors, and hair colors. All shapes, sizes, and personalities. Rich and poor. Aching hearts and contagious smiles. An eclectic mix of people from various parts of the world have been praising God from generation to generation—and it continues to happen now. And we know it will never stop. In *Revelation 7*, John has a vision of a “great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb,” who is Christ. They are serving and worshiping, all day and night. God’s people—past, present, and future—are a worshiping people.  We can worship with our songs. We can worship with our money. We can worship with our lives. And one day, when we finally see things clearly, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. But today, we don’t have to wait to worship. When sunlight streams through our windows, we can worship. When the evening sky turns orange-ish pink, we can worship. When we’re in a season of waiting, we can worship. When we’re in a season of receiving, we can worship. When our heart is empty and breaking, we can worship. When our heart is full, we can worship. *From dawn to dusk, let the Name of the Lord be praised.* Today, let's begin to think about this verse and consider what compels us to worship God. Then, shift our hearts toward Him and don’t forget to worship Him that sit enthroned upon the circle of the earth.. The One that lives forever. *Praising God For His Goodness* Father God, You are good and Your Mercy endures forever. No matter what goes on around us—You are always good. You are worthy of our praises because You are God in eternity past, present and future. You provide for us, strengthen us, deliver us, heal us and redeemed our souls. Even when we don’t see You at work in our lives, that doesn’t change the fact that You are working. There is no one like You. So regardless of what we face today, we will praise You forever! 📘 Daily Devotion — August 20 | Acts 19:26 (NKJV) 💯 Worship the One True God Acts 19 records the growing impact of the gospel in Ephesus. As many people believed in Jesus Christ, they turned away from idol worship. This change threatened those whose livelihood depended on making idols, leading to strong opposition against Paul and the message he preached. Paul faithfully declared that man-made idols could never replace the living God. His message called people to abandon false objects of worship and place their faith in the Creator rather than created things. The gospel challenged not only beliefs but also the priorities and lifestyles of those who heard it. For believers today, idols may not always be carved images, but anything that takes God's rightful place in our hearts can become an idol. Success, possessions, relationships, or personal ambitions can easily compete for our devotion. God alone deserves our highest worship, trust, and obedience. Reflection Questions 1. Is there anything competing with God for first place in my heart? 2. What changes is God calling me to make in my worship and priorities? 3. The Story Behind the Hymns THE STORY BEHIND "ETERNAL FATHER, STRONG TO SAVE " “Eternal Father, Strong to Save” is one of the world’s best-known hymns associated with the sea, sailors and those who face danger on the waters. Its powerful words are a prayer for God’s protection and a reminder of His authority over the forces of nature. The hymn was written in 1860 by English hymn writer William Whiting (1825–1878), who was then the headmaster of Winchester College Choristers’ School in England. Whiting was inspired to write the hymn after a student preparing to travel by sea came to him troubled by the dangers of the journey. Whiting drew inspiration particularly from Psalm 107, which speaks of sailors caught in storms and waves and of God calming the sea. The opening words, “Eternal Father, strong to save,” immediately establish the hymn’s central theme: God as the protector of those at sea. Whiting’s original poem included references to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, asking each person of the Trinity for protection. The hymn became even more widely known after English composer John Bacchus Dykes created the tune “Melita” for it in 1861. The name refers to Melita, the ancient name associated with Malta, where the Apostle Paul was shipwrecked according to Acts 28. With its memorable melody and prayerful words, “Eternal Father, Strong to Save” soon became closely connected with naval and maritime traditions. It has been sung by sailors, naval personnel and families seeking protection for loved ones travelling across the sea. Over the years, the hymn has also been used at naval ceremonies, military services, funerals and moments of remembrance. Its appeal, however, reaches far beyond the sea. The hymn speaks to anyone who needs courage and assurance in the face of uncertainty, placing human vulnerability against the enduring strength of God. More than 160 years after it was written, “Eternal Father, Strong to Save” remains a beloved hymn because its message is timeless: when the waters are troubled and human strength reaches its limits, faith looks to the One who commands the sea and offers refuge to those who call upon Him.

When we talk about doing God’s will, the first image that often comes to mind is that of creatures fashioned to please God. When we say this, we must be very careful. For claiming that we were created to please God can imply that we are mere objects, intended solely to satisfy His demands. This reinforces the image of a demanding God who demands sacrifices, offerings, and endless efforts.

YOU REALLY HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR EXCEPT SIN Many people, including believers, do not understand the gravity of sin, so they make jest of it. When God created the earth, He gave mankind, represented by Adam, the charge over it. However, Adam committed treason by rebelling against God, choosing to obey the Devil, the arch-enemy of God. By this, Adam made himself subservient to the Devil, whereas he was supposed to be the lord on the earth. In Yoruba parlance, “Eniti o l’eru lo leru” that is to say, “Whoever owns a slave, owns whatever the slave has. So the dominion Adam had passed over to the Devil by virtue of Adam’s submission to the Devil, and the Devil became the ruler of this world. Therefore sin, first of all, is a rebellion against God. Second, it is a choice you made, without realizing it, to come under the dominion of Satan. As the king over the earth realm that God made you, sin becomes the choice you made to come down from your throne and allow your slave to take over and reign over you. It is the craziest thing you can ever do. In the light of the fact that Jesus laid down His very life to purchase that throne for you, sin is putting Jesus to shame and making yourself deserving the deepest part of hell.

🕊️ DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 232 DATE: 20TH AUGUST 2026 TOPIC: UNITY GIVES US VICTORY ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: GENESIS 11:6 (NKJV) “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.” Devotional message: Yesterday, we saw that when God's people dwell together in unity, the Lord commands His blessing upon them. Today, we discover another dimension of unity: unity strengthens the Church for spiritual warfare. An army cannot effectively defeat an enemy when its soldiers are fighting among themselves. A divided camp becomes vulnerable because its strength is scattered. In the same way, the Church cannot effectively confront the darkness around her while believers are constantly fighting one another. Throughout Scripture, we see occasions where God brought victory to Israel by causing confusion among their enemies, so that they turned against one another. The enemy's unity was broken, and their strength collapsed. This teaches us something important: division weakens a people, while unity strengthens them. We are soldiers in the army of Christ. Our ultimate enemy is not another believer, denomination, congregation, or minister. We are engaged in a spiritual battle against the kingdom of darkness. Paul reminds us:Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age...” Therefore, we must be careful not to spend the strength that God gave us to advance His Kingdom fighting one another. There is room for different denominations, congregations, ministries, expressions, and gifts within the body of Christ. Our differences should not become weapons against one another. Paul described the Church as one body with many members. The hand has a different function from the eye, yet both belong to the same body. Likewise, we may have different assignments, but we have one Lord, one faith, and one mission. Jesus prayed for His followers:John 17:21 (NKJV) “That they all may be one... that the world may believe that You sent Me.” Our unity is therefore not merely about making the Church comfortable; it is part of our witness to the world. The enemy understands the power of united believers. That is why he continually seeks to introduce jealousy, competition, offence, denominational superiority, suspicion, gossip, and unnecessary disputes among God's people. But when the Church speaks with one voice, serves with one heart, and advances under the government of Christ, her collective strength becomes far greater. Think about the early Church. They were devoted to fellowship, prayer, the Word, and one another. Their unity created an environment in which the Gospel spread with extraordinary power, and many were added to the Church. Child of God, do not fight your fellow soldier when there is a kingdom of darkness to confront. Do not allow denominational differences to make you forget that we belong to one body. Do not allow personal differences to destroy the larger assignment. Where correction is necessary, let it be done biblically and in love. Where differences arise, pursue peace without compromising truth. There is still darkness in our communities, families, nations, and institutions that needs the light of Christ. The Church has a responsibility to arise together and shine. A united Church carries a united strength. A divided Church dissipates its strength. Therefore, let us stand together, pray together, serve together, preach Christ together, and advance the Kingdom together. PRAYER Heavenly Father,Teach us to recognize that our true battle is not against one another but against the kingdom of darkness.
