Let’s look at the second temptation Jesus faced: ‘Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, [and] set Him on the pinnacle of the temple.’ Here you deal with the fear of failure. Satan will whisper, ‘You’re on the pinnacle of success now, but you could easily fall off.’ He will bring up your past failures. He will remind you of leaders who crashed and burned. He will say, ‘If people realised how little you really know, or the issues you’re struggling with, they wouldn’t respect you.’ There are two kinds of fear: healthy fear and unhealthy fear. Healthy fear will keep you dependent on God; it will protect you from pride and self-sufficiency. ‘Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall’ (1 Corinthians 10:12 NKJV). But there’s an unhealthy fear that will keep you in the boat when Jesus is calling to you to step out and walk with Him on the water. You say, ‘But Peter almost drowned.’ Yes, but he was the only one of the disciples who experienced the joy of walking on the water! Having faith doesn’t mean you won’t experience a sinking feeling at times. You have a choice. You can give in to fear, or trust the God who has called you, sustained you, and never failed to give you the strength needed to cope with whatever you face. If your own intellect or talents are the basis of your confidence, you have good reason to fear. But if God is the basis of your confidence, you have nothing to fear. [21/08, 10:03 pm] Pastor Attah: *MEDITATIONS ON DAILY ⓂANNA* SATURDAY, 22ND AUGUST, 2026. *WANT TO BE A RESERVOIR OF DIVINE BLESSINGS?* *TEXT:* PSALM 1:1-6. 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. *Timeless Truth:*_"And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God"_ (Deuteronomy 28:2). *INTRODUCTION* Every believer desires the blessings of God, but Scripture makes it clear that divine blessings are connected with the way we live, the company we keep and the delight we have in God’s Word. The text presents a sharp contrast between the righteous and the wicked. The righteous person is not merely blessed, occasionally; he becomes like a fruitful tree, continually supplied by divine grace. Furthermore, for the Old Testament saints, the blessings of God and the God’s Covenants with the Patriachs were majorly earthly and material. However, for the New Testament saints, the blessings are majorly spiritual and heavenly, though, with earthly blessings and wealth embedded. The uniform testimony of the Scriptures is that in order to be blessed by God and even be a reservoir of divine blessings, we must deliberately, separate ourselves from ungodly influences, delight in God’s Word and remain spiritually rooted in Him. *1. The Conditions for Divine Blessings* a. Every creature of God enjoys the blessings of God in some shape and form. For example, the air we breathe is universal and the sunshine and the rain we enjoy are without discrimination though God has the power to do so if He wants. However, there are some blessings of God that are given to select few, in particular His children. They are multidimensional blessings including both physical, material, social and spiritual blessings, spanning through all human needs without exception. Receiving these blessings result into all round prosperity which is promised by God. *"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth"* (3 John 2). Apostle Peter summed up all these blessings as things that pertain to life and godliness. *"According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises"* (1 Peter 1:3, 4a). These divinely provided blessings are even richer and deeper than what the Psalmist in the text was aware of. b. The psalmist begins by identifying what the blessed person does not do and what he does. He *"walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful"*. This describes progressive involvement with ungodliness. The blessed person carefully chooses his companions, conversations, character, contacts, connections and control. He is so much in love with the Word of God that he cannot stomach or endure anyone or anywhere the Word of God is being dishonoured. In an age where the demarcation between saints and sinners are being erased, he does not *"stand in the way of sinners"*. He separates himself from the worldly and sinful practices of sinners without being ashamed of standing for the truth and the right. His counsellors and guides in matters of conduct are not the ungodly, but godly people who take the Word of God and go to heaven very seriously. Positively, his delight is in the law of the LORD, and he meditates on it day and night. *Question* Based on the above, are you qualified for daily divine blessings? *2. The Clear Description of the Blessed* a. The description of a blessed man shows that it is pleasant and admirable to be a blessed man. Like a good tree bearing good fruits that are edible and profitable to man, the blessed man is not only blessed by God, he is also a blessing to others. As a good tree gives shade to people when the sun bites hard, the blessed person gives succour and shade to people when they are being bitten by the challenges of life. No wonder, the blessed person is compared to *“a tree planted by the rivers of water”*. The blessings of God are so real that he is never dried up. He remains fresh materially, spiritually and in all areas. Beyond that, he is *"planted by the rivers of water"* where the Word of God flows in his unceasing freshness. b. Such a person never runs out of grace, godliness and goodness. He *“bringeth forth his fruit in his season.”* His life produces visible evidence of God’s work. His leaves do not wither, indicating spiritual vitality even in difficult seasons. Furthermore, *“whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”* He is never a failure in family, business and spiritual ministry because he allows God to always guide his actions, endeavours and always commit them into God’s hands. It does not mean freedom from trials, but it means that a life rooted in God ultimately bears the fruit and accomplishes the purposes God intends. A reservoir does not merely receive water; it stores it for continue usefulness. Likewise, the blessed believer receives divine grace and becomes a channel through which God’s goodness reaches others. *Question* Is my spiritual life deeply rooted enough in God’s Word to remain fruitful in every season? Am I a blessing to others? *3. Cursed Destination of the Barbaric* The wicked are described as *“chaff which the wind driveth away.”* Agricultural chaff consists of the dry, scaly husks and small pieces of straw separated from cereal grains during threshing. It is lightweight, dry, scaly and easily blown away by the wind. It has no economic value. It lacks appreciable weight. It is just good for fire else it will be a nuisance. The ungodly are compared to chaff because they don't add any value to achieving the purpose of God on earth. They are only good for hell fire. Their life is not weighty in character and conduct, but lives on and lives for vanities of life. Those who reject God and persist in ungodliness may appear successful for a season, but their destination is destruction. b. *"The ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous"*. Their apparent strength and conscience cannot withstand divine examination. In fact, the judgment would be so fierce that *"the earth and the heaven fled away"* from the presence of God (Revelation 20:11). *“The LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”* *Question* Am I a chaff before God or wheat? The psalm ends with a clear truth: "For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish."* *Every day, we are faced with choices that determine which path we walk and what we will reap at the end. The world constantly offers distractions such as ungodly advice, sinful pleasures, and shortcuts to success. But true blessing comes from delighting in God's word, staying rooted in His truth, and avoiding the influences that pull us away from Him.* *Like Jim Elliot, those who walk in obedience may face hardship, but they will ultimately flourish in God's purpose. Their lives bear fruit, even after them; their faith remains firm, and they find true peace in Christ. In contrast, those who reject God's ways may seem successful for a time, but in the end, their path leads to emptiness and destruction. As believers, we must be careful enough to walk circumspectly in the truth revealed in God's word. The path to blessing requires commitment to God's word and a refusal to compromise with the world. WATCH YOUR MOUTH: WHEN YOUR WORDS REVEAL YOUR HEART! Key Scripture “Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.” — James 3:10 (KJV) Thought of the Day... There is tremendous power in the words we speak. With our mouths, we praise God. We pray for the sick. We encourage the discouraged. We preach the gospel. We tell people that Jesus saves. We sing songs of worship and declare the goodness of God. Yet James confronts us with an uncomfortable truth: the same mouth that blesses God can also become a weapon that wounds people. We can shout “Hallelujah!” on Sunday and tear somebody down on Monday. We can quote Scripture and still gossip. We can pray for people publicly and speak evil about them privately. We can proclaim the love of Jesus while harboring hatred, prejudice, racism, bitterness, resentment, or unforgiveness toward people created in the image of God. James says: “My brethren, these things ought not so to be.” — James 3:10 In other words, something is wrong when our confession and our conversation contradict each other. WHAT IS IN THE HEART WILL EVENTUALLY COME OUT OF THE MOUTH Jesus said: “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.” — Matthew 12:34 (KJV) Our words are more than sounds—they are often windows into the condition of our hearts. If bitterness continually comes from our mouths, we need to examine what is growing in our hearts. If hatred comes from our mouths, we need to examine our hearts. If racism, prejudice, degrading jokes, insults, gossip, slander, or cruelty continually come from our mouths, we cannot simply excuse it by saying, “That’s just how I talk.” Jesus teaches that our speech reveals something deeper. Sometimes we ask God to control our tongues when God is trying to transform our hearts. Because if God changes the heart, eventually the conversation will change. David prayed: “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10 (KJV) We don't merely need better vocabulary. We need transformed hearts. FRESH WATER AND BITTER WATER SHOULD NOT COME FROM THE SAME SOURCE James continues: “Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?” — James 3:11 (KJV) James uses a simple picture with a powerful message. You wouldn't expect to approach a freshwater spring, take one drink and receive clean water, then take another drink and receive poison. Yet spiritually, that contradiction can happen with our mouths. One moment: “God is good!” The next moment: “I hate those people.” One moment: “Jesus loves everybody.” The next moment, we speak contemptuously about someone because of their race, background, nationality, social status, political differences, neighborhood, education, or past. James challenges us: How can blessing and cursing continually flow from the same source? The gospel does not merely change where we go on Sunday. The gospel changes who we are. And when Christ changes who we are, He should also change how we speak and how we treat people. YOU CANNOT CLAIM LIGHT WHILE PRACTICING HATRED The Apostle John writes: “He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.” — 1 John 2:9 (KJV) That Scripture should cause every believer to examine themselves. Christianity is not merely what we say we believe. It must become visible in how we live. Church attendance cannot substitute for transformation. A title cannot substitute for transformation. Preaching cannot substitute for transformation. Singing in the choir cannot substitute for transformation. Knowing Scripture cannot substitute for transformation. Jesus said: “By their fruits ye shall know them.” — Matthew 7:20 (KJV) And Paul tells us what Spirit-produced fruit looks like: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance...” — Galatians 5:22-23 (KJV) The question becomes: What kind of fruit is hanging from my life? RACISM AND PREJUDICE HAVE NO PLACE IN A CHRIST-SURRENDERED HEART Racism and prejudice contradict the reconciling work of Jesus Christ. Scripture teaches that Christ: “...hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us.” — Ephesians 2:14 (KJV) Jesus came tearing down walls that sin had built. Therefore, believers should not rebuild walls that Christ died to destroy. We cannot preach reconciliation while practicing division. We cannot celebrate grace for ourselves while denying dignity to others. We cannot ask God to judge people according to their skin while asking Him to judge us according to His mercy. At the foot of the cross, nobody has room to boast. We all needed the same Savior. We all needed the same blood. We all needed the same grace. We all needed the same forgiveness. And everyone who comes to Jesus must come the same way—by grace through faith. BUT THERE IS ALSO A DANGER IN SILENCE Our responsibility goes beyond refusing to participate in hatred ourselves. There are moments when love requires us to speak. Paul tells believers: “But speaking the truth in love...” — Ephesians 4:15 (KJV) Notice both sides. Truth. And love. Truth without love can become cruelty. Love without truth can become compromise. Biblical courage requires both. When hatred, racism, prejudice, or dehumanizing speech appears around us, believers should not laugh along simply because everyone else is laughing. We should not forward it. We should not encourage it. We should not excuse it because the person saying it is our friend, relative, coworker, church member, favorite celebrity, or someone whose views we otherwise share. There are moments when following Jesus means having enough courage to say: “That's wrong.” Not arrogantly. Not hatefully. Not self-righteously. But truthfully and lovingly. Because silence can sometimes communicate agreement where there should have been a godly witness. THE REAL QUESTION IS: DOES MY LIFE MATCH MY CONFESSION? It is easy to examine everybody else's words. But today's devotional isn't primarily about their mouth. It's about mine. Before pointing at someone else, I need to ask God: Lord, what is coming out of me? Do my private conversations sound like Jesus? Do my social media posts sound like Jesus? Do my jokes sound like Jesus? Do my comments about people who are different from me sound like Jesus? Do I speak differently when certain people leave the room? Would I be comfortable if Jesus physically sat beside me and listened to everything I said this week? That's where conviction becomes personal. David prayed: “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.” — Psalm 19:14 (KJV) Notice that David didn't pray only about his mouth. He prayed about his heart. Because God knows that if He transforms what is happening inside of us, it will eventually transform what comes out of us. TODAY'S CHALLENGE: WATCH YOUR MOUTH—AND CHECK YOUR HEART Before you speak today, ask yourself: Does this glorify God? Is it true? Is it necessary? Will it build someone up or unnecessarily tear someone down? Does this reflect the character of Jesus Christ? Would I say this if Jesus were visibly standing beside me? And when you fail—and all of us stumble in our words—don't excuse it. Repent. Ask forgiveness. Make it right when necessary. And allow the Holy Spirit to continue transforming you. Because spiritual maturity is not demonstrated only by how loudly we praise God. Sometimes it is demonstrated by knowing when to speak, what to speak, how to speak, and when to remain quiet. May our mouths never become instruments of hatred while claiming to represent the God of love. May our words never become weapons of destruction while claiming to follow the Prince of Peace. May the same mouths that proclaim Jesus also demonstrate His character. Because somebody is listening. Somebody is watching. And somebody may form an opinion about the Christ we profess by the way we speak to and about others. If Jesus lives in our hearts, eventually Jesus ought to show up in our words. CALL TO ACTION... • Examine your speech. Ask yourself whether your words consistently bless, encourage, heal, and glorify God—or whether they carry bitterness, gossip, prejudice, anger, or poison. • Examine your heart. Ask the Holy Spirit to expose hidden prejudice, resentment, unforgiveness, pride, or hatred that may be influencing your words. • Repent quickly. When God convicts you about something you have said, don't justify it. Confess it, turn from it, and make amends when appropriate. • Refuse to participate in hatred. Don't laugh at it, share it, forward it, encourage it, or quietly help normalize it. • Speak truth in love. When circumstances require you to take a stand, have the courage to do so without becoming hateful yourself. • Walk in the Spirit daily. Ask God to make your speech evidence that Jesus Christ truly rules your heart. PRAYER... Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, I come before You asking You to search me completely. Your Word declares, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts”(Psalm 139:23). Lord, shine Your light into every hidden place within me. If there is bitterness in me, expose it. If there is hatred in me, remove it. If there is prejudice in me, confront it. If there is racism in me, uproot it. If there is unforgiveness in me, help me release it. If there is pride in me, humble me. If there is anything in my heart that does not look like Jesus, Lord, change me. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Father, forgive me for every careless word I have spoken. Forgive me for words spoken in anger, words spoken out of pride, gossip, slander, insults, degrading jokes, prejudice, and anything else that dishonored You or wounded someone made in Your image. And Lord, forgive me for those moments when I should have spoken truth in love but remained silent because I was afraid of rejection, confrontation, or discomfort. Teach me when to speak and when to remain silent. Teach me how to speak truth without hatred. Teach me how to disagree without dishonoring. Teach me how to correct without condemning. Teach me how to stand boldly without losing the character of Christ. Father, place a guard over my mouth. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer. Holy Spirit, fill me until Your fruit overflows through my life—love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. Lord Jesus, make me an instrument of reconciliation in a divided world. Where hatred has built walls, use me to demonstrate love. Where racism has caused wounds, use me to promote healing. Where prejudice has created division, use me to demonstrate the reconciling power of the gospel. Where lies are being spoken, give me courage to stand for truth. But Father, never allow me to fight hatred with hatred. Never allow me to confront darkness while becoming dark myself. Let me overcome evil with good. I pray for every person who has been wounded by racism, prejudice, discrimination, hateful speech, rejection, or degrading treatment. Father, heal the places nobody else can see. Restore what hatred tried to steal. Remind them that their worth is not determined by another person's prejudice but by the God who created them in His image. And Lord, I pray for those whose hearts have been consumed by hatred. Convict them. Break the chains of prejudice. Open blinded eyes. Bring them to genuine repentance and allow them to encounter the transforming grace of Jesus Christ. And Father, start with me. Before I examine somebody else's mouth, help me examine mine. Before I judge somebody else's heart, search mine. Before I demand change from somebody else, show me where I need to change. I surrender my heart, my mind, my attitude, my conversations, my social media, my private words, and my public words to You. From this day forward, let my mouth be used as an instrument of Your glory. May I bless and not curse. Build up and not tear down. Heal and not wound. Encourage and not discourage. Speak truth and reject lies. Promote reconciliation and not division. And above everything else, may my words cause people to see Jesus Christ living in me. I declare: My mouth belongs to God. My words belong to God. My heart belongs to God. And by the power of the Holy Spirit, I will strive to make sure that what comes out of my mouth agrees with the Christ I claim lives within my heart. Matthew 18:1-10 The Importance of the Child. Many churches and believers have no clue how urgent and important this passage is. Jesus has just cast a demon from a child and that child is recovering from that possession. Is it possible that when Jesus says “this child” he is discussing the child from whom He had just cast the demon from because they are all still standing there when the disciples decide to bring up the subject of who the greatest in the Kingdom will be? Absolutely. Jesus is warning them with the strongest type warning that exists. He tells them that unless they have the humility of a child, they won't even get close to God's kingdom. A change has to occur from within to make that possible because a child won't be having the pride and stubbornness to fight against God that a sinful adult would. But one thing the progressive churches choose to fail to recognize is this: there is a very deliberate focused choice on the part of confessed Satanists to target children for sexual or sacrificial uses. And part of that use has been the inclusion of homosexuality into modern American life. It is seen as ‘evil’ to exclude gays from public discourse and discrimination to call it a sin. Even now there are believers being arrested in the UK for even standing in prayer publicly, but for a parade of LGBTQ dancers to dance through the streets yelling “WE'RE HERE. WE'RE QUEER. AND WE'RE COMING FOR YOUR CHILDREN!” is perfectly acceptable. If that doesn't show you that the source for all these political pro-gay pushes of the last 50 years were all from the same source, Satan, nothing will convince you. Satan's strategy has always been found in aiming for the youth, the future of a nation. The elite power structure of our nation, our world, is predicated on a set of pagan demonic influences. Today, Satan demands a sacrifice of the eldest child and many of the Baphomet worshipping elites offer that child in dedication to the service of Baphomet. The child is either made a blood offering in ritual sacrifice at birth (as in ancient times) and is eaten alive or is made a servant of Baphomet, requiring the castration of the eldest son. Does the fervor behind the trans-ideology begin to make sense yet amongst the political and Hollywood elites? It is Satanic. It is evil. And Jesus said the world would be a better place if those people would be launched into the deepest part of the sea with a ton-sized rock tied to their necks. And Jesus tried to warn us. Our stance against homosexuality is for the express purpose of protecting the children because they have shown a consistent propensity of targeting our children. It's time to stop attempting to avoid the subject in order to not offend people. Children are being raped, victimized and it's allowed to continue for fear of angering a trans-activist. The Hell that awaits for those who rape children, including former President's, movie stars etc is one that surely will cause eternal regret on their part. Jesus said it'd be better if the ones who are out to victimize children were being actively drowned In the sea. If your church affirms trans-kids it's because someone at the church wants to rape them. Period. And Jesus says that God will give extra consideration toward their punishment because the angels watch them closely. So the cowards who refuse to stand on biblical teaching to appease will suffer the same fate as those who actively did abuse children. And the followers of that ‘church’ will endure the same Hell the rapists will. Do you understand the warnings now? How important it is to adhere to scripture rather than cave to current political pressure in the interests of not offending pedophiles? Do you see that Satan is working overtime because he knows his time is short? Do you realize that evil doesn't even hide anymore? If even just 10 years ago you had said that there would be a time when grown adult professionals would be too afraid to admit that a man couldn't get pregnant you would have been laughed out of the room. If 5 years ago a male high school student had dressed as a girl to enter the girls restroom, then raped a female student, and the high school had transferred him instead of arresting him where he then raped another female student all to avoid offending this “trans-student” and/or his litigious parents…oh wait, this did happen 5 years ago. The reason that this society has degenerated so quickly into utter insanity is all because Satan is consolidating his efforts. Let’s be honest, people are turned off by religion for a lot of reasons—legitimate ones. Let’s look at some: 1) Hypocrisy. Think about the twelve disciples; one of them betrayed Jesus, one denied Him, and one doubted Him. That’s a 25% failure rate! But the good news is, Jesus continues to love us and work with us in spite of our problems. 2) Terminology. If you grew up in the church, you’re probably familiar with Bible terminology. But don’t assume everybody else is, or you’ll talk over their heads. When Jesus talked to shepherds, He discussed sheep. When He talked to farmers, He discussed sowing and reaping. Identify the person’s interests and spiritual needs, then use language they understand. 3) Negative emphasis. If your major emphasis is on what people can’t do, they’ll run in the opposite direction. A well-known preacher says, ‘I grew up understanding what our church was against, but never what it was for. Basically, we were against everything!’ Smiling, he added, ‘We preached against smoking and drinking. We especially preached against adultery, because we believed that could lead to dancing.’ Seriously, the gospel is not about what you lose when you come to Christ, but what you gain. Jesus said, ‘…I have come that they may have life and have it to the full’ (John 10:10 NIV). God is impartial and He expects His children to reflect His character in their relationships with others. Favouritism is the act of treating people differently based on their appearance, wealth, social status, tribe or influence. Scriptures strongly condemn this attitude because it contradicts the gospel of Christ, who died for all and takes every soul to be equally in need of redemption. Every believer must guard against prejudice and show the same love and respect to everyone, knowing that all people are created in God's image. *1. The Commandment against Favouritism* a.James begins with a direct command: *"My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ... with respect of persons."* The Christian faith is incompatible with favouritism and partiality. Genuine faith in Christ cannot coexist with partiality. God created each soul with His breath, He gave the same life to all and made the same heaven for all without discrimination. The gospel is the same and the conditions for salvation are the same for all. It is the same Rapture for all believers. The Gospel of Christ breaks all barriers, via social, race, status, education and wealth. During Christ days here on earth, He welcomed the rich and the poor, the influential and the rejected without discrimination. When believers show favouritism, they misrepresent the nature of Christ and weaken the testimony of the Church. b. The faith of Christ is a leveler. *"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus"* (Galatians 3:28). True Christianity values people because of who they are before God, not because of what they possess. *Question* Does my attitude towards people reflect Christ's impartial love or am I influenced by their social status and outward appearance? *2. Cases of Favouritism* a. James illustrates favouritism with the example of giving the wealthy man a place of honour while humiliating the poor man. Such conduct exposes worldly thinking and evil motives. Definitely, people have different positions and some are given special honour because of their positions. However, giving honour to such people should not translate to dishonouring or disrespecting others. Everyone should be given due honour and respect. *"Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king"* (1 Peter 2:17). The Church should be a place where everyone receives equal dignity and acceptance. Judging people by external appearance instead of godly character creates division and dishonours God. Believers must consciously reject every form of discrimination based on wealth, education, ethnicity or influence. b.Those who are partial *"are become judges of evil thoughts"* because it involves pride, deriding and degrading God's creatures in their thoughts. The Scriptures ask, *"Who maketh thee to differ?"*. All God's human creations regardless of race, social and material status are equal before Him. Also, in the day of judgment, there will be no special consideration or special treatment of anybody before God. God will judge without any partiality where everybody will be naked before Him and the servant will be freed from their masters. *Question* Do I ever treat someone differently because of his or her appearance, possessions, position or background? *3. Concerns Over Favouritism* a.James gives serious reasons why favouritism is sinful and does not make sense. The people who are poor are often more serious with their faith than those we specially esteem because of who and what they possess. *"Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom?"*. The people Jesus chose as His disciples were not even lettered men and yet they were the people who *"turned the world upside down"* and their ministries remain blessings to generations after them. God has often chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of His kingdom. Ironically, some of those receiving preferential treatment are sometimes the very people who oppress the poor. b. Above all, favouritism violates the royal law: *"Love your neighbour as yourself."* Anyone who practices partiality becomes guilty of sin before God. One thing I have discovered in this world is that if you truly want meaningful friendships, choose people who can relate to everyone, regardless of their background, social status, or financial condition. A person who respects only the rich but ignores the poor has not yet understood the value of humanity. True greatness is not measured by how many influential people know you, but by how you treat every person with dignity and respect. Character is revealed in the way we value people when there is nothing to gain from them. Likewise, we should be careful about who we call our spiritual fathers or mothers. Honor should not be based only on titles but also on genuine love, care, and acknowledgment. A true father or mother rejoices in the growth, success, and well-being of those they call their children. They do not ignore them in private and only recognize them when it is convenient. If someone claims you as a son or daughter but cannot acknowledge, encourage, celebrate, or stand with you, then that relationship deserves honest reflection. Dear Father, I once felt offended after coming across a place called “Home for Motherless and Abandoned Children.” Could they not have found another name? Or do we need to build labels around the condition of children simply because we wish to convey a message? I wondered why we attach demeaning labels to the poor, and at the same time, idolize the rich. Are our values built around wealth and stability rather than humanity? Today I came across a passage that says: “Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes, have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?” I believe we have yet to come to terms with the vast extent to which discrimination applies. First, the mindset behind naming a place “Home for Motherless and Abandoned Children” is not entirely for the sake of recognition, as we may believe. If we were to name such places “chosen” or “great,” that is exactly how they would come to be recognized. This mindset often leaves little room for creativity in the way we serve the poor, making haphazard modes of operation seem customary. Could we not do better? Should a driver be honored less because of his financial condition? We do not seem to realize that honor is not always the mindset behind how differently we treat people, discrimination is. Over 600 disability, civil rights, and education advocacy groups have united to oppose these changes, arguing that dismantling the current system will disrupt the cohesive support structure for students with disabilities. Several left-leaning senators are seeking to block the transfer of special education functions to HHS, citing concerns about departmental expertise and the loss of educational oversight. Critics warn that moving civil rights complaints to the Department of Justice could create confusion for families and potentially discourage vulnerable populations from reporting school-based discrimination due to the involvement of a law-enforcement agency.
