• Daily scripture: Joshua 24:13

“If you are not willing to serve him, decide today whom you will serve, the gods your ancestors worshipped in Mesopotamia or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are now living. As for my family and me, we will serve the LORD.” GNB

Isn’t it wonderful that we have choices? As I’m writing this, I’m wondering about you, dear friend, you have chosen to read this devotion, so thank you for that. I could have chosen not to write it as I am most definitely not a famous person, nor have I strings of followers on any of the usual media platforms. The voice I speak with is one that comes from the heart and I believe the words are a message to you from God Himself.
God has always been clear about this. He is NOT forcing us to do His will, He is giving us options; you can either follow His commands, or ignore it, it is your choice.

It is important, though, to keep in mind that you will suffer the consequences of your choices.

Galatians 6:7-8: “Do not deceive yourselves; no one makes a fool of God. People will reap exactly what they sow. If they sow in the field of their natural desires, from it they will gather the harvest of death; if they sow in the field of the Spirit, from the Spirit they will gather the harvest of eternal life,” GNB

The website “To Every Nation” summarizes some of these biblical choices in one of their articles. You can read the full article here. [https://bit.ly/2TsKs88] I am only sharing four of the seven they discuss in their article and adding one of my own.

    Choices God gives us:
Hebrews 11:6: “No one can please God without faith, for whoever comes to God must have faith that God exists and rewards those who seek him.” GNB You get to choose to have faith in the existence of God or you can reject Him and His Word.

John 12:25: “Those who love their own life will lose it; those who hate their own life in this world will keep it for life eternal.” GNB You can choose between your earthly existence and eternity with God.

John 14:13: “So then, let us stop judging one another. Instead, you should decide never to do anything that would make one another stumble or fall into sin.” GNB  We can decide whether to be the town gossip, always looking at people in judgment or we can be the peacemakers that accept people as God created them. You can become the one that support others or you can be the one that talk about others.

John 16:23: “…I am telling you the truth: the Father will give you whatever you ask him for in my name.” GNB We have the choice of praying, asking the Father, according to the character and reputation of Jesus. When we do, we will receive what we ask. Or you can take matters in your own hands, making a worse mess of your circumstances.

John 3:18: “Those who believe in the Son are not judged; but those who do not believe have already been judged….” GNB This is the most important choice of all. You can decide to believe in Jesus Christ and accept Him as your Saviour. Your prize is forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Or you can choose NOT to believe in Jesus and you will receive only damnation.

You see? No one is FORCING you to believe. That is the beauty of free will. We are bombarded by choices every single day and when you have Christ in your heart, you can be sure you will always be able to distinguish the bad choices from the good ones. God promises to guide and guard you in your life until such time that you pass over into His realm to accept His gift of eternal life.

Are you ready to make the righteous choice?
