✝️ THE GOSPEL FROM CALVARY 📅 Monday, 17th August, 2026 🚨 CONTEND FOR THE FAITH! ✝️🔥 📜 TEXT: JUDE 1:1–25 📜 🔑📖 KEY VERSE: «“Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” — Jude 1:3 (KJV)» The Christian faith is precious, powerful, and worth defending. In his short but powerful letter, Jude warned believers about false teachers and ungodly influences that had entered among God's people. Jude's message is simple but urgent: DO NOT GIVE UP THE FAITH! 🔥 We live in a world where truth is often questioned, biblical values are increasingly challenged, and many voices compete for our attention. But the believer is called to remain rooted in God's Word and to earnestly contend for the faith. 🔥 THREE LESSONS FROM JUDE 1️⃣ CONTEND FOR THE FAITH. 🛡️📖 Jude 1:3 says: «“...earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”» To contend for the faith does not mean fighting people. It means standing firmly for the truth of God's Word. Don't abandon biblical truth because it is unpopular. Don't compromise your convictions because of pressure. Don't change God's standards simply because society has changed. Stand for Christ. Stand for truth. Stand for the Gospel. ✝️🔥 2️⃣ BEWARE OF UNGODLY INFLUENCES. ⚠️ Jude warned that certain ungodly people had secretly entered among the believers. Their presence was dangerous because they could influence others away from the truth. This teaches us that not every teaching, philosophy, lifestyle, or spiritual message should be accepted without examination. 📖 Test what you hear against Scripture. 🙏🏽 Ask God for discernment. 👀 Watch the influences around you. ❤️‍🔥 Protect your relationship with Christ. Be careful what you allow to shape your thinking. 3️⃣ BUILD YOURSELF UP SPIRITUALLY. 🏗️🔥 Jude 1:20–21 gives believers a powerful instruction: «“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God...”» Notice the progression: 📖 Build yourself on the faith. 🙏🏽 Pray in the Holy Ghost. ❤️ Keep yourself in God's love. 👑 Look for the mercy of Jesus Christ unto eternal life. A strong Christian life does not happen accidentally. You must intentionally develop your relationship with God. Pray. Study the Word. Worship. Obey God. Stay connected to Christ. 🛡️ DON'T COMPROMISE YOUR FAITH The pressure to compromise can come from many directions. Friends may pressure you. Society may pressure you. Relationships may pressure you. Entertainment may pressure you. Even people who claim to know God may pressure you. But remember: Your faith is more valuable than acceptance from people. Never exchange eternal truth for temporary popularity. Never exchange holiness for pleasure. Never exchange your relationship with Christ for worldly approval. ❤️‍🔥 HAVE MERCY ON THOSE WHO ARE STRUGGLING Jude does not only tell believers to defend the faith; he also teaches us how to respond to people who are struggling. Jude 1:22 says: «“And of some have compassion, making a difference.”» There are people who need correction, but they also need compassion. There are people who have wandered, but they can still be restored. There are people who are confused, but God can use you to lead them back to truth. Therefore, stand firmly for truth while showing the love of Christ. ❤️‍🩹✝️ 🔥 KEEP YOURSELF IN THE LOVE OF GOD Jude 1:21 says: «“Keep yourselves in the love of God...”» This does not mean that God's love is weak or that we must earn His love. It is a call to remain in fellowship and obedience to Him. Don't allow sin to become your lifestyle. Don't allow bitterness to occupy your heart. Don't allow worldly desires to take the place of Christ. Stay close to Jesus. 👑 GOD IS ABLE TO KEEP YOU The letter of Jude ends with one of the most beautiful declarations of God's power: «“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy...” — Jude 1:24» What a powerful assurance! We are called to contend. We are called to watch. We are called to pray. We are called to remain faithful. But ultimately, God is the One who keeps us. 🙏🏽🔥 When you feel weak, He can strengthen you. When you are tempted, He can help you. When you are discouraged, He can restore you. When you are struggling, He can keep you from falling. ✍🏽 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A believer who knows the value of the Gospel will stand firmly for the truth, walk faithfully with Christ, and never trade eternal truth for temporary approval. 🔥✝️ 🙏🏽 PRAYER Heavenly Father, Thank You for the precious gift of salvation and for the faith You have entrusted to us. Give me grace to earnestly contend for the faith. Help me to recognize false teachings and ungodly influences. Give me spiritual discernment to know what is true and courage to stand for Your Word. Build me up in my most holy faith. Teach me to pray consistently and keep me in Your love. Help me to show compassion to those who are struggling and to point them back to Jesus. Your Identity Is in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17) Who are you? It sounds like a simple question. But for many people, the answer is shaped by what they have achieved, what others think about them, where they come from, how much money they have, how many followers they have, or even the mistakes they have made. We live in a world that constantly tells us to build an identity around something. Your career. Your appearance. Your relationship status. Your education. Your possessions. Your popularity. Your success. But all of these things can change. So what happens when you lose the job? When the relationship ends? When the opportunity disappears? When people stop applauding? When you fail? If your identity is built entirely on those things, your sense of worth can collapse with them. But God offers you something deeper. The Bible says: “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” When you place your faith in Jesus, your past no longer has the final word about who you are. You are not simply your mistakes. You are not your failures. You are not the rejection you experienced. You are not what someone said about you. You are not your worst day. In Christ, you are made new. This doesn't mean your past never happened. It means your past doesn't have to control your future. Jesus offers forgiveness. He offers restoration. He offers a new identity. And He gives you a new reason to live. Maybe you've been comparing yourself to other people. Someone seems more successful. Someone looks happier. Someone has more opportunities. Someone has a bigger platform. But comparison can make you forget something important: God did not create you to become someone else. You don't have to copy another person's journey to have value. You don't need everyone's approval to be significant. Your worth comes from God. And when you understand that, you can stop living desperately for people's applause. You can celebrate other people's success without feeling threatened. You can accept correction without believing you are worthless. You can experience failure without believing your life is over. You can walk away from unhealthy relationships without believing you have lost your identity. And you can pursue your dreams without making those dreams your god. Your career is part of your life. Your education is part of your life. Your relationships are part of your life. Your achievements are part of your story. But none of them should become your identity. Jesus should. If you belong to Christ, your identity begins with Him. You are someone who has been offered grace. Someone who can receive forgiveness. Someone who can grow. Someone who can serve. Someone who can love. Someone who can start again. Someone whose life can be used by God. And if you have never surrendered your life to Jesus, you can begin today. You don't have to clean yourself up first. Come to Him honestly. Confess your sins. Trust Him. Receive His grace. And begin walking with Him. The world may label you by your past. Jesus sees what His grace can make you become. So stop asking only: “What do people think about me?” Start asking: “Who does God say I am?” Let His Word answer that question. And let your identity in Christ become stronger than every label the world puts on you. You are more than your achievements, more than your failures, and more than people's opinions. August 16 🌿 “WHO GOD SAYS I AM” I AM NOT CONDEMNED 📖 Romans 8:1 (LLV) — “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Sometimes we are better at remembering our failures than remembering God's grace. We confess our sin. We ask for forgiveness. We believe Christ paid the price. And yet, somewhere inside, we continue to pronounce ourselves guilty. We replay the moment. We hear the accusation. We wonder how God could possibly look at us the same way again. Then Paul gives us one of Scripture's great declarations of freedom: “There is now no condemnation.” Not less condemnation. Not condemnation held back until our next failure. No condemnation. Why? Not because we have no sin. Not because our failures do not matter. But because we are “in Christ Jesus.” Jesus has already stood in our place. The judgment our sin deserved fell upon Him. The price has been paid. Yesterday, we called it redemption. Today, we discover what redemption means for the redeemed. We are free from condemnation. There is an important difference between conviction and condemnation. The Holy Spirit convicts us when we sin. Conviction says, “This is wrong. Come back to God.” Condemnation says, “You are wrong. There is no way back.” One leads us toward our Father. The other drives us away from Him. God corrects His children, but He does not cast away those who belong to Christ. So when an old failure returns to accuse us, we do not have to argue our innocence. We simply remember where we stand. In Christ. Forgiven. Redeemed. No longer condemned. A new beginning does not deny yesterday's sin; it trusts what Christ has done with it: there is now no condemnation for me because I am in Christ Jesus. Reflection: Am I still condemning myself for something God has already forgiven, instead of accepting the freedom Christ purchased for me? Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You that my standing before You rests upon Christ and not upon my own perfection. When memories of past failures accuse me, remind me of what You have declared: there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. Convict me when I wander, correct me when I need it, but help me never confuse Your loving correction with condemnation. Teach me to walk in the freedom Christ purchased for me. The Bible warns believers to be spiritually alert because we are in a spiritual battle. «"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." — 1 Peter 5:8» Satan cannot force anyone to sin, but he tempts people into habits that can pull them away from God and harden their hearts. 1. INTOXICATION Anything that takes away your self-control can make you spiritually vulnerable. Whether it's alcohol or drugs, intoxication clouds judgment and can lead to other sins. «"Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit." — Ephesians 5:18» «"Be sober-minded; be watchful." — 1 Peter 5:8» God calls His people to live with clear minds and self-control. 2. SEXUAL IMMORALITY God designed sex for marriage. Sexual sin damages our relationship with Him and affects both body and soul. «"Flee from sexual immorality." — 1 Corinthians 6:18» «"The two shall become one flesh." — Genesis 2:24» The enemy often uses lust to trap people in guilt, shame, and brokenness, but Christ offers forgiveness and freedom to those who repent. 3. UNWHOLESOME WORDS Your tongue has power. Constant insults, gossip, lies, and curses can wound others and reflect what is in the heart. «"Death and life are in the power of the tongue." — Proverbs 18:21» «"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up." — Ephesians 4:29» As followers of Christ, our words should bring truth, grace, and encouragement. 4. UNCONTROLLED ANGER Anger itself is not always sin, but uncontrolled anger can lead to hatred, violence, and bitterness. «"Be angry, and do not sin... do not give the devil a foothold." — Ephesians 4:26–27» Forgiveness and humility close the doors that bitterness tries to open. 5. UNREPENTANT SIN When people continually reject God's correction and refuse to repent, their hearts become hardened. «"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." — 1 John 1:9» Jesus didn't come to condemn us but to save us. No matter how far you've fallen, His mercy is greater than your past. «"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." — James 4:7» The answer is not fear—it's repentance, faith in Jesus Christ, prayer, reading God's Word, fellowship with other believers, and daily obedience to the Holy Spirit. May God strengthen everyone struggling with temptation, addiction, anger, or sexual sin.
