But every new day is the greatest opportunity God gives us: an opportunity to draw closer to Him. Yesterday, we may not have sought God. We may have grown weary in prayer or made mistakes. But today is a new day. Yesterday’s failures do not have to prevent us from experiencing God’s love today. We can once again sit at His feet, seek His Word, and listen to His voice. The Bible says: > “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” — James 4:8 Drawing closer to God is not something we do only once; it is a decision we need to make every day. When we take one step toward Him, He never leaves us or turns away from us. So, don’t look at today as just another day. FLY GIRL!!! I thought Nicaragua would be just a short stop—but God had something much greater waiting for me. 🇳🇮🙏 I only had a short time in Nicaragua, but I made every moment count! I hiked through the beautiful mountains, explored a colorful local market, and enjoyed a wonderful dinner at a restaurant outside the city. Adventure is a part of me—it’s simply who I am. I love hiking, exploring new places, meeting people, and experiencing different cultures. Being there brought back so many memories from when I was just 18 years old, working in Mexico’s Yucatán region and other parts of Central America. I remember washing my clothes in a hollowed-out log with pigs wandering beneath my feet—but most of all, I remember the precious children I worked with and loved. Returning to this part of the world felt wonderfully familiar. The people of Nicaragua were incredibly kind. The restaurant owner surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, and having the sweet children gathered around made that moment even more precious. We also talked about my returning to their community to teach about God, share His Word, and become involved in ministry. I made some wonderful new connections, and I’m now planning to return on my days off. What began as a short visit may become another opportunity to serve. 🕊️ DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 228 DATE: 16TH AUGUST 2026 TOPIC: PERSECUTION IS PART OF THE COST OF FOLLOWING CHRIST ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: MATTHEW 10:22 (NKJV) “And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.” Devotional message: Jesus never deceived His disciples concerning the cost of following Him. He did not promise them a life without opposition, rejection, hatred, suffering, or persecution. Instead, He prepared them beforehand so that when these things came, they would not abandon their faith. If our Master was rejected and opposed, we should not be surprised when those who faithfully represent Him experience similar opposition. Following Christ does not mean that everyone will celebrate you, understand you, or agree with your convictions. There will be moments when standing for righteousness will cost you relationships. There will be moments when refusing to compromise will make you unpopular. There may even be seasons when people misunderstand, reject, mock, or oppose you simply because you have chosen to remain faithful to Christ. But persecution does not mean that God has abandoned you. The presence of opposition does not mean the absence of God. In fact, Scripture gives us numerous examples of God's people experiencing persecution while simultaneously experiencing His presence. God promised through Isaiah:Isaiah 43:2 (NKJV) “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.” Notice that God did not say, “You will never pass through the waters.” He said, “I will be with you.” He did not say that His people would never encounter fire; He promised His presence in the fire. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego experienced this reality. They refused to bow to the golden image even though they knew their decision could cost them their lives. They were thrown into the fiery furnace, but they were not alone. The king eventually saw a fourth man walking with them in the fire.The fire did not destroy them because God's presence was with them. Child of God, do not interpret persecution as a signal to abandon your testimony. If you are suffering because you have chosen righteousness, remain faithful. If people reject you because you refuse to compromise your convictions, continue standing. If your commitment to Christ costs you something, remember that Christ is worth more than whatever you may lose. Our calling is not merely to begin well but to endure to the end.Paul declared that he had fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7). That should also be our determination. The world may hate us because we belong to Christ, but we must never allow the hatred of men to make us lose our love for God. We must continue preaching Christ, living righteously, loving people, and faithfully representing the Kingdom. Persecution may test your faith, but it does not have to terminate your faith. The same God who was with the three Hebrew men in the furnace is with you today. The same Christ who strengthened the apostles to endure persecution is still able to strengthen His Church. MANY OF us remember singing in church, ‘Every promise in the Book is mine!’ Exciting words—but are they entirely true? If you’ve prayed for the fulfilment of a Bible promise that didn’t materialise, you may have wondered, felt disillusioned, or even stopped trusting. What’s true is that every promise in the Book intended for you, is yours! God is committed to keeping every promise He has made (Matthew 24:35). So how can you know which Bible promises are yours? Here are some scriptural guidelines to help you: 1) Be sure you understand the promise. God is committed to His Word, not to your interpretation of it. When Jesus said, ‘…Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up’ (John 2:19 NKJV), His audience completely misunderstood Him, thinking He meant the literal temple when He meant His body. 2) Walk in the Spirit, not the flesh. Walking in the Spirit, Peter received divine understanding of Christ’s deity. When Jesus asked, ‘Who do you say I am?’ Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’ Jesus replied, ‘…this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father…’ (Matthew 16:15-17 NIV). Soon afterwards, walking in the flesh, the same man totally misunderstood Jesus and was severely rebuked by Jesus (Matthew 16:21-23). Why? Because ‘…the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God…nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned’ (1 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV). There are many contemporary cases of revival in addition to the one in Bible days. Jonah was used by God to bring Revival to the people of Nineveh where all the 120,000 inhabitants got convicted and converted. There were revivals in Israel during the time of king Hezekiah and Josiah. The Early Church also experienced great revival immediately after the Pentecost. When there is spiritual coldness and indifference to spiritual things, when there is no clear distinction between the world and the Church, when saints are distracted from heavenly desire to earthly preoccupation, then revival is needed. When the saints are weak, powerless and fainting in scriptural conviction and consecration, then we need revival. When formalism and entertainment fill our worship instead of true and holy devotion to God and heavenly things, revival is needed. In order to experience revival, there must be deep concern and burden for prayer coupled with passion for revival. It takes a revived person to be an instrument of revival. *1. The Man of Prayer* a. The man God uses must be a man of bended knees with power of prayer. *"A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth.”* Habakkuk was not merely a prophet who preached; he was also a man who prayed. His direct communication with God was not clogged. God could express His mind and vision to him clearly and He also could hear from God and communicate with God effectively and fruitfully. He was a true servant of God that stood between God and man as mediator. He lived a life that was pleasing to God and God could speak to him about people. He dwelt in the midst of compromised and corrupted people without being defiled and with boldness to declare unto them their sins and evil as God had told him without fear or favour. His response to the difficult circumstances surrounding Judah was to seek God. The spiritual condition of a nation should drive God's servants to their knees. Revival begins when someone becomes sufficiently burdened to pray as he comes out of the cocoon of self seeking and self satisfaction. b. There is no revival that ever came in human history without people who had the passion and power of prayer from God. Habakkuk's prayer demonstrates that prayer is not a sign of weakness, but an expression of dependence upon the Almighty. The revival God wants to bring may begin with one person who is willing to stand before Him in persistent intercession. Churches need prayer warriors who will carry the burden of their generation before God. The praying saints or warriors that bring revival concentrate their prayers on heavenly things and not on earthly benefits and blessings. Earnest, consistent and persistent prayers by holy people with deep burden and passion for the glory of God, salvation of souls and perfection of saints are indispensable to a true God sent revival. *Question* Am I sufficiently burdened by the spiritual condition of my generation to become a man or woman of prayer? *2. The Manifestation of Passion* *"O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid"*. Habakkuk's prayer reveals intense spiritual passion. Having heard God's Word and understood His dealings with His people, he was moved deeply. He was such a person that was not indifferent to the Word of God. The Word of God moved, burned and melted his heart. It became fire in his bones that only revival could quench. First he heard the voice of God. Second he was afraid. He was like Noah who, after hearing the Word of God, believed and *"being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house"* (Hebrews 11:7). True passion for God is not passive. It actively engages in things that will bring change and revival. b. Passion for revival means longing to see God glorified, sinners saved, believers renewed and righteousness restored. Habakkuk did not ask God merely to improve circumstances; he asked Him to revive His work. True revival passion is therefore God-centred rather than man-centred. We must pray until spiritual hunger replaces spiritual complacency. *Question* Does my prayer life demonstrate a genuine passion for God to revive His work in my generation? *3. The Mercy from the Potentate* a. What does this world need desperately from God? Mercy! The degree of worldliness and ungodliness are inexcusable. Man deliberately lives his life, spurning His Word and commandments as if God does not exist. Saints' lives are soiled with carnality, worldliness and corruption. Their focus has shifted from serving the Lord to what mundane things the Lord will give to them. b. Passionate prayer for the mercy of God is an indication that we accept that God has been offended and He is angry at us because of our coldness and carnality. It should always be a prayer point constantly. *“In the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.”* Habakkuk recognized God as the sovereign Potentate who has authority to judge, revive, restore and show mercy. He therefore pleaded, *“in wrath remember mercy.”* Revival cannot be manufactured by human ability; it must come through divine mercy and sovereign intervention. The prophet understood that although God's people might deserve judgment, God's mercy could provide restoration. This should encourage us to approach God humbly and plead for mercy upon the Church, families, communities, and nations. When God shows mercy, dry bones can live again, cold hearts can burn again and His work can flourish again. *Question* Am I humbly pleading with the sovereign God to remember mercy and revive His work in our generation? What decision are you making to be an agent of revival in your church and community? *Prayer Points* 1.O Lord, make me a man/woman of prayer, burdened continually for revival and spiritual awakening🙏. 2.O Lord, ignite within me an unquenchable passion for Your glory and the advancement of Your work 🙏. 3.O Lord, the sovereign Potentate, revive Your work in the Church, in families and throughout our nation 🙏. 4 Lord, in wrath remember mercy; pour out Your Spirit, save the lost, restore the backslidden and let genuine revival come upon our generation 🙏. *HYMN:* Come Holy Spirit *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:* JOB 22-25. 2. *Be Strong and Courageous* When Paul wrote his first letter to the Corinthian church, he was writing to believers experiencing intense division. Power and politics within the church community were causing Christians to stray from Jesus’ teachings and compete with each other. Because of this, the poor were suffering, people were confused about theology, and immorality was being tolerated. After calling out their mistakes and showing them how to live Spirit-filled lives, Paul summarized his desire for the Corinthians with these words…  *Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14* Be on guard… Paul uses this phrase to remind his friends to keep watch over their lives, their community, and their choices. He knew that if they didn’t stay aware and awake, they wouldn’t notice the lies, tricks, or deceptions the devil was using to infiltrate their community. Stand firm… Immorality was a major issue in the Corinthian church. But instead of addressing this problem, Corinthian Christians were tolerating it. So Paul reminded them that they are one body. If one person was allowed to disrespect God, then they were all part of the problem. They needed to learn how to stand firm in their faith so that their ultimate desire would be to please God, not people. *Be courageous. Be strong…* In order to resist spiritual attacks, the Corinthians needed to stand strong together. They needed to courageously use their gifts and talents to strengthen their church community and help it grow—even when it seemed counter-cultural and uncomfortable.   And do everything with love... In *1 Corinthians 13,* Paul writes that if he could be perfect, do everything right, never sin, and always keep God’s commands—but he didn’t have love, it would mean nothing. Strength, courage, and commitment—none of it matters if God’s love isn’t at the center of everything we think and do.   If God’s love doesn’t define us, standing firm can become self-righteousness, strength can turn into stubbornness, and courage can become arrogance.   So, what steps can we take to stand firm in what we believe with strength and courage? As we determine what choices we need to make, let's remember that God fights for us, and His Spirit is with us. He can empower us to boldly share His love. *Help Us Stay On Guard* Father God, we need You. You've given us everything we need to live a godly life, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. TODAY'S KINGDOM INSIGHTS THE SECRET OF JOY. Discovering the Joy That Circumstances Cannot Steal. Key Text: Philippians 4:4 > “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.” There is a difference between happiness and joy. Happiness depends on what happens around you. Joy depends on Who lives within you. You can have money and still have no peace. You can have people around you and still feel lonely. You can face difficulties and still have a song in your heart. The world says, “I will rejoice when everything becomes better.” But the believer says, “I will rejoice because God is still good, even when everything is not good.” Paul wrote, “Rejoice in the Lord always” while experiencing hardship. He was not writing from a palace; he knew suffering, rejection, imprisonment, and uncertainty. So what was his secret? His joy was not connected to his circumstances. His joy was connected to Christ. 1. JOY BEGINS WITH A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD Psalm 16:11 > “In thy presence is fulness of joy.” The deepest source of joy is not possessions, success, marriage, promotion, or recognition. The deepest source of joy is God's presence. When you know that God is with you, you can face situations that would otherwise break you. David said: Psalm 23:4 > “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.” Notice that David did not say, “I will fear no evil because there is no valley.” He said, “Though I walk through the valley…” The valley may exist, but God's presence is greater than the valley. Spiritual Insight You lose joy when you make temporary things the foundation of your happiness. If your joy depends on money, money can take it. If it depends on people, people can disappoint you. If it depends on circumstances, circumstances can change. But when your joy is rooted in Christ, you can bend without breaking. 2. JOY COMES FROM KNOWING THAT GOD IS IN CONTROL Romans 8:28 > “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God…” This does not mean everything that happens is good. Some things are painful. Some things are unfair. Some things are disappointing. But God is powerful enough to take broken pieces and create something meaningful from them. Joseph was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned. Yet eventually he stood in a position of authority. His testimony was: Genesis 50:20 > “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good.” Joseph discovered a powerful secret: What people meant for evil, God could turn around for good. Therefore, don't allow today's chapter to make you reject the Author of your story. 3. JOY GROWS WHEN YOU LEARN CONTENTMENT Philippians 4:11–12 Paul said he had learned how to live with abundance and how to live with little. That word “learned” is important. Contentment is a spiritual discipline. You don't automatically become content because you are a Christian. You learn to trust God in every season. Paul could say: Philippians 4:13 > “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” The context is not merely about achieving everything you want. Paul was saying: “Through Christ, I can remain faithful whether I have much or little.” Practical Lesson Stop postponing joy. Some people say: “When I get married, I will be happy.” “When I get money, I will rejoice.” “When I build my house, I will have peace.” “When my ministry grows, I will be satisfied.” But if you cannot rejoice while climbing the mountain, you may not rejoice when you reach the top. Learn to thank God for today's bread while trusting Him for tomorrow's provision. 4. JOY IS PROTECTED BY GRATITUDE AND PRAISE 1 Thessalonians 5:18 > “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” Gratitude changes your perspective. Complaining says: “Look at what I don't have.” Thanksgiving says: “Look at what God has already done.” When you begin to count your blessings, you may discover that you have been surrounded by God's goodness while focusing on one problem. Biblical Example: Paul and Silas Acts 16:25 Paul and Silas were beaten and imprisoned. Their backs were wounded. Their feet were fastened. Their future looked uncertain. But at midnight: > “Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God.” They did not wait for the prison door to open before they praised God. They praised God while the doors were still closed. And then something supernatural happened. Acts 16:26 > “And suddenly there was a great earthquake…” Their praise did not merely change their emotions. God used their worship in the middle of their crisis. 5. JOY IS A SPIRITUAL WEAPON Nehemiah 8:10 > “The joy of the LORD is your strength.” Joy is not weakness. There are moments when the enemy wants to make you spiritually exhausted through fear, disappointment, discouragement, and hopelessness. But when you maintain your joy in God, you are declaring: “My circumstances have not become my God.” The enemy wants you to stop praying. Stop worshipping. Stop believing. Stop expecting. But the child of God says: “I may be crying, but I will still trust Him. I may be waiting, but I will still praise Him. I may not understand, but I will not abandon my faith.” That is spiritual strength. BIBLICAL CASE STUDY: HABAKKUK'S JOY One of the most powerful examples of supernatural joy is found in Habakkuk 3:17–18. Habakkuk describes a situation where: The fig tree may not blossom. There may be no fruit. The fields may produce nothing. The flock may disappear. The cattle stalls may be empty. Everything appears to be going wrong. Yet Habakkuk declares: > “Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.” Notice the word: YET. That little word represents tremendous faith. The situation says “No.” Faith says “Yet.” The economy says “No.” Faith says “Yet.” The diagnosis says “No.” Faith says “Yet.” The disappointment says “No.” Faith says “Yet I will rejoice in the Lord.” His joy was not based on what was in the field. His joy was based on who was on the throne. PRACTICAL ACTION STEPS 1. Start every day with thanksgiving Before checking your phone, remember God's goodness. 2. Reduce unnecessary comparison Comparison is a thief of joy. Stop measuring your life against somebody else's chapter. 3. Spend time in God's presence Pray. Worship. Read Scripture. Meditate on God's promises. 4. Learn contentment Appreciate what God has given you while trusting Him for what you are still believing for. 5. Watch what you speak Constant negative speech can strengthen discouragement. Speak faith. 6. Help someone else Sometimes your joy returns when you become a blessing to someone who needs encouragement. 7. Choose praise during difficult seasons Don't wait until everything is perfect before you worship God. DEEP SPIRITUAL INSIGHTS Joy is not the absence of problems; it is the presence of confidence in God. Joy is not pretending that pain does not exist; it is knowing that pain does not have the final word. Joy does not mean you never cry. It means your tears do not cancel your trust in God. Joy is not produced by possessions. It is produced by relationship with Christ. And remember this: You can lose things without losing your joy. Job lost possessions, children, and his position. Yet he said: Job 19:25 > “For I know that my redeemer liveth…” Job's circumstances changed, but his confidence in God remained. QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION 1. What has been controlling my joy recently? 2. Is my joy dependent on circumstances or rooted in Christ? 3. Have I allowed disappointment to become greater than my faith? 4. What blessings have I stopped noticing because of one problem? 5. Am I practicing thanksgiving daily? 6. Can I worship God even while waiting for my breakthrough? 7. What would change if I truly believed that God is still in control? POWERFUL PRAYER POINTS 1. Prayer for restored joy Father, restore every joy that has been stolen from my heart. Let the joy of Your salvation fill me again, in Jesus' name. 2. Prayer against discouragement Every spirit of discouragement, hopelessness, and heaviness, lose your hold over my life, in Jesus' name. 3. Prayer for contentment Lord, teach me to appreciate what You have given me while trusting You for what is ahead. 4. Prayer for strength Father, let the joy of the Lord become my strength in every difficult season. 5. Prayer for supernatural confidence Even when I cannot see the way forward, help me to trust You completely. 6. Prayer of declaration I declare that my joy will not be controlled by circumstances. My joy is rooted in Christ. I will rejoice in the Lord, I will trust His Word, and I will remain faithful until my testimony comes, in Jesus' name. Amen. CALL TO ACTION Beloved, don't give your joy to circumstances. People can change. Money can disappear. Doors can close. Plans can fail. Friends can disappoint you. But Jesus remains faithful. So rejoice! Not because everything is perfect. Rejoice because God is still God. Rejoice because Christ is still Lord. Rejoice because His promises are still true. Rejoice because your story is not finished. And when the enemy asks, “Why are you still joyful?” Tell him: “Because my joy is not in what I have. Walking in the Light Have you ever walked in darkness? Maybe your power went out during a storm, or you were stranded on the road with car trouble. Walking in darkness can be scary, and it can be dangerous. Having a light makes everything better, and the same is true in our spiritual journeys. How we find that light in the midst of darkness is actually pretty straightforward: Psalm 119 says that God's Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. In other words, the Bible itself is a light—that points to THE Light. It's our guide. It helps us make decisions to follow Christ and to not walk in darkness. Just as Jesus is the light of the world, we are called to reflect His light into the world. When we intentionally choose to walk in His light, we embrace truth, righteousness, and love.  Walking in the light means surrendering our old ways, seeking God's guidance, and allowing His Spirit to shape our thoughts, actions, and attitudes. As we walk in the light, a beautiful transformation occurs: we find fellowship with one another. This light of Christ not only illuminates our individual paths but also creates a bond of unity among believers. It’s how we discover the joy of shared faith, encouragement, and accountability. It is through this bond that we are reminded that we are not alone on our journey. Today, reflect on your walk with Christ. Are you consciously choosing to walk in His light? Are you growing in community? And are you fully embracing the cleansing power of Jesus' blood, allowing His grace to purify your life? Some are for special use, while others are for ordinary use. Rom 9:21 [1Ti 3:15] 21 Therefore, if anyone stops associating with these people, he will become a special utensil, set apart for the owner’s use, prepared for every good action. 22 Flee from youthful passions. Instead, pursue righteousness, faithfulness, love, and peace together with those who call on the Lord with a pure heart. 1Ti 6:11 [1Co 1:2] [Heb 12:14] *TOPIC:* LIVING IN PURITY. *THE MESSAGE:* In this text, Paul uses the metaphor of a great house containing vessels of gold, silver, wood, and clay - some for honourable use, while others for dishonourable use. He urged Timothy to cleanse himself from what is dishonourable so that he may become a vessel fit for a noble purpose. This illustrates the call for believers to separate themselves from sin, false teachings, and unworthy associations, so that they may live in purity and be useful instruments in God's hands. Living in purity involves fleeing youthful passions and actively pursuing righteousness, faith, love, and peace. You must also avoid watching sensual musical videos, obscene movies, music with erotic lyrics, and lust. This requires self-control, which is necessary for anyone who intends to live a life of purity. How is your lifestyle? ED.ii. THE DIABOLIC TRINITY IN THE END TIMES "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." - 1 Peter 5:8 There are three major end time main players who form a diabolical trio. The reason we talk about this is because we all need to know what is to come. Just as God is a Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, there is also a diabolical trinity, namely: the evil one, the antichrist and the false prophet. The Lord God did not leave us in ignorance about what is to happen. These three have different personalities. The evil one There are people who do not believe that the evil one - the first person of this trinity - exists. However, as God exists, there is also an opponent who is now more than ever out to destroy humanity. He is looking for a prey to destroy (see 1 Peter 5:8). The antichrist The second person of the diabolical trinity in this end time is the antichrist. We read about this in Revelation 13:1-8. In the Bible he is called the beast. The antichrist will rise during the last big empire - the restored Roman Empire - from the image of Daniel (see Daniel 2). When the feet of that image become visible, the power will be given to this leader. He will emerge as a diabolical dictator. He will not allow God to be worshiped and will place himself in the temple in Jerusalem. The false prophet In the time of the antichrist, the false prophet will also appear. We read about him in Revelation 13:11-14. He will seduce people by performing miracles and signs. During this time the false prophet will persuade people to believe in the antichrist. When these three appears on stage, a terrible time will come. But Jesus Christ will also return on the clouds to end this period.
