• Avoid Hunger That Destroys Destiny

Hunger is a natural human experience, but not every hunger should be satisfied.

There is a kind of hunger—physical, emotional, spiritual, or material—that, when uncontrolled, destroys destiny.

Many people have lost divine purpose, covenant blessings, moral integrity, and eternal rewards, not because they were weak, but because they allowed hunger to rule them.

Destiny is too valuable to be exchanged for temporary satisfaction. What you crave today must never cancel what God has prepared for your tomorrow.

    1. DESTINY CAN BE LOST THROUGH UNCONTROLLED HUNGER

    Genesis 25:29–34
Esau sold his birthright for a plate of food. Hunger made him despise his destiny.

His hunger was temporary, but his loss was permanent.

He valued immediate satisfaction above long-term inheritance.

Never allow a moment of appetite to cost you a lifetime of purpose.

    2. NOT ALL HUNGER IS PHYSICAL

    Philippians 3:18–19
“…whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame…”

There are different kinds of destructive hunger:

    Hunger for pleasure

Hunger for money at all costs

    Hunger for fame and validation

    Hunger for power and control

    Hunger for sinful gratification

When appetite becomes your god, destiny becomes your sacrifice.

    3. HUNGER WITHOUT DISCIPLINE LEADS TO SLAVERY

    Proverbs 27:7
“The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.”

    When discipline is absent:

Wrong relationships begin to look right

    Sin begins to look normal

    Compromise begins to look necessary

Uncontrolled hunger lowers discernment and weakens resistance.

    4. JESUS: THE MODEL OF RIGHT RESPONSE TO HUNGER

    Matthew 4:1–4
Jesus was hungry, yet He refused to satisfy hunger outside God’s will.

    Hunger did not control Him

    Scripture guided His decision

    Destiny mattered more than bread

If Jesus could say no to hunger, so can we—by the Word of God.

    5. DESTINY-DESTROYING HUNGER ALWAYS DEMANDS A TRADE

    Hebrews 12:16–17
    Esau traded:

    Birthright for bread

    Future glory for present comfort

Every destructive hunger asks you to trade something eternal for something temporary.

    Question:
What are you being tempted to exchange right now?

    6. HOW TO AVOID HUNGER THAT DESTROYS DESTINY

Value the Future Over the Present
    (2 Corinthians 4:18)

    Feed Your Spirit Daily
    (Matthew 4:4)

    Practice Self-Control
    (Galatians 5:22–23)

    Run from Compromise
    (1 Corinthians 10:12–13)

    Remember the Cost of Disobedience
    (Romans 6:23)

    CONCLUSION
Not every hunger is from God. Some hunger is a test.

Some hunger is bait. Some hunger is a weapon of the enemy.

Destiny is fragile in the hands of uncontrolled appetite.

Refuse to sell your tomorrow for today’s satisfaction.

Guard your calling. Protect your inheritance. Avoid hunger that destroys destiny.

    PRAYER POINTS
Father, deliver me from appetites that war against my destiny.

Lord, give me grace to value eternal things above temporary pleasure.

Holy Spirit, strengthen my self-control and spiritual discipline.

Every hunger designed to ruin my future, be destroyed in Jesus’ name.

I receive power to say no to temptation and yes to God’s will.

    ALTAR CALL
If you have compromised, traded values, or followed destructive appetites, today is a day of restoration. Jesus restores what hunger has destroyed. Come back to Him. Your destiny can still be redeemed.

Joel 2:25 — “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten…”

  • The Cost of Taking God Lightly!

In our generation, familiarity with spiritual things has made many people casual about God.

We call His name easily, quote Scriptures freely, and approach holy matters carelessly.

However, Scripture makes it clear that God is loving, but He is also holy. When God is taken lightly, there is always a cost—spiritually, morally, and sometimes physically.

    1. What Does It Mean to Take God Lightly?

To take God lightly is to treat sacred things as common, to obey Him selectively, or to live without reverence for His presence and authority.

    Malachi 1:6 (NKJV):
“A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If then I am the Father, where is My honor?”

When worship becomes routine, sin becomes comfortable, and obedience becomes optional, God is being taken lightly.

    2. Biblical Examples of the Cost

    a. Nadab and Abihu – Strange Fire

    Leviticus 10:1–2
They offered unauthorized fire before the Lord, and fire came out from the presence of God and consumed them. They were priests, but position did not excuse irreverence.

Lesson: Spiritual privilege does not replace obedience.

    b. Eli’s Sons – Contempt for God’s Offering

    1 Samuel 2:12, 17
They treated the Lord’s sacrifice with contempt, and judgment followed.

Lesson: When worship is abused, God’s glory departs.

    c. Uzzah – Touching the Ark

    2 Samuel 6:6–7
Uzzah touched the ark casually, and he died instantly.

Lesson: Good intentions do not cancel divine instructions.

    3. The Cost of Taking God Lightly

-- Loss of God’s Presence – Samson did not know the Spirit had departed (Judges 16:20).

-- Loss of Spiritual Authority – Prayer loses power when reverence is lost.

-- Delayed or Destroyed Destiny – Disobedience can derail divine plans.

-- Judgment and Discipline – God disciplines those He loves (Hebrews 12:6).

    4. Why Many Take God Lightly Today

    * Overemphasis on grace without holiness

    * Entertainment replacing reverence in worship

    * Sin being normalized in the church

    * Lack of teaching on the fear of the Lord

    Ecclesiastes 12:13:
“Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all.”

    5. The Right Response: Restoring Reverence

** Develop the Fear of the Lord – Proverbs 9:10

** Honor God in Obedience – John 14:15

    ** Serve God Acceptably – Romans 12:1

    ** Examine Yourself Regularly – 2 Corinthians 13:5

    Conclusion

God is not to be mocked, managed, or minimized. While He is merciful and gracious, He remains holy and worthy of reverence.

Taking God lightly may seem convenient today, but the cost is always greater tomorrow.

    Galatians 6:7:
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”

Let us return to honoring God with our hearts, our worship, and our obedience.

    Prayer

Lord, forgive us for every way we have treated You casually.

Restore in us the fear of the Lord, a heart of obedience, and a lifestyle that honors Your holiness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
