A Word Fitly Spoken By Shelley Quinn August 27th, 2026 “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.” Proverbs 25:11 God has given me a consistently positive attitude—a heart that overflows with thanksgiving. He taught me the power of life and death is in the tongue. I confess His Word over my life and speak it into the lives of others. I know His Word is living and powerful and will not return to Him void but will accomplish the purpose for which He sent it. I’m telling you this to establish that faith is an essential aspect of my being. A false teaching on faith caused me to walk away from God for a time in my twenties. My non-denominational church taught me to have faith “in faith.” In other words, if I could ratchet up enough faith, God was obliged to act. Hoping my mother would be healed of her bi-polar condition, I was convinced my faith would bring her healing. It didn’t. Disillusioned, I turned my back on God until He chased me down with His love. God must be the object of our faith. Trusting His unfailing love and His faithfulness is true biblical faith. Faith is not a denial of facts—it’s reliance upon God in the midst of troubling circumstances. Which brings me to my point. A “positivity” wave has rolled over some Christian circles. Their insistent demand on avoiding all negativity deeply troubles me because it is a toxic additive to biblical faith. Authentic expression of emotion is rejected, labeled as lack of faith, and met with positive platitudes. Personal feelings are invalidated with quick responses like, “It could be worse” or “Count your blessings,” bringing shame on those who are gripped by pain. Are we guilty of using God’s Word to silence others? Rather than intentional listening, do we gush out positivity with the pressure of a firehose? Like the calloused “comforters” of the patriarch Job, do our words hurt—rather than heal? Emotional distress is our shared human experience. It will not be denied! Try suppressing it, and it will rear its ugly head in sleeplessness, crying jags, anxiety, panic attacks, prolonged stress, and spiritual paralysis. Oh, may we be authentic communicators like Jesus! He wept with Martha over Lazarus’ death. He wept over Jerusalem. He told of His impending death and warned His followers of tribulations. May we freely express our laments as the saints of old recorded in Scripture. Granting ourselves permission to speak our discomfort can provide release and open the way for God’s healing. Just read the Psalms to see how honest laments led to an acknowledgment of our all-loving God and hope in His rescue. Scripture advises we “weep with those who weep” and be “swift to hear, slow to speak.” We owe it to others to listen with the intention of understanding their pain and offering compassion. Only then can we speak a word in due season—the right word at the right time. A word fitly spoken can shine God’s light into the darkness of the soul and restore hope.

🕊️ DOMINION DAILY DEVOTION ~ DAY 239 DATE: 27TH AUGUST 2026 TOPIC: TAKE HIS YOKE UPON YOU_2 ANCHOR SCRIPTURE:MATTHEW 11:29–30 (NKJV) “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Devotional message: Yesterday, we saw that Jesus desires us to be yoked with Him so that He can order our steps and ensure that we walk on the path of light. Today, we continue by looking at another reason we must remain yoked with Christ: He desires to direct our lives. The Bible warns us against leaning on our own understanding because our own wisdom and direction can lead us away from God's will. True and lasting fulfillment is found when we allow God to direct our paths. When we are yoked with Christ, we surrender our will, plans, decisions, and ambitions to Him. We no longer insist on going where we want to go; instead, we learn to follow where He leads. His Word becomes our final authority, and the Holy Spirit becomes our guide. It is through this relationship with Christ that we begin to discover and fulfil our God-given purpose. God created each of us intentionally, and He has assignments prepared for us. However, we cannot fulfil those assignments by depending solely on our own wisdom, strength, or abilities. As we conform to the image of Christ, we become better equipped to represent Him and function according to His purposes. The closer we walk with Him, the clearer His direction becomes. Therefore, ask yourself today: Am I fulfilling what God created me to do? Am I walking according to His Word and submitting to the leading of the Holy Spirit, or am I directing my own life?If you are already walking in God's purpose, continue faithfully. But if you have discovered that you have been walking according to your own plans, return to Christ and allow Him to order your steps.For the believer, the answer is to yoke yourself more deeply with Christ. For the unbeliever, the first step is to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and begin a life of surrender to Him. Do not merely come to Jesus for rest; walk with Him under His yoke. Let Him direct your decisions, relationships, career, ministry, business, and every area of your life. Make His Word your final authority and submit to the leading of the Holy Spirit.When Christ directs your steps, you will not merely live—you will live with purpose, direction, and divine fulfillment. THURSDAY, 27 AUGUST TEXT: REVELATION 20:11-15 TOPIC: THE GREAT WHITE JUDGMENT THRONE REVELATION 20:11-15 (NIV) 11: Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12: And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13: The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. 14: Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15: If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. THE GREAT WHITE JUDGMENT THRONE The time will come for all humans, living or dead, to face the Great White throne of judgment (vs.11-12) based on their deeds. Everyone will be judged fairly, as "all have sinned" (Rom.3:23). Believers would have been condemned but Christ's sacrifice paid their penalty (Rom.6:23). Regardless of how one dies, all souls will be resurrected for judgment. The lost will be judged, while redeemed believers were raised during the Rapture and previous resurrections. Those not found in the Book of Life will face the "second death" (vs.14-15, cf.Rev.3:5). QUESTION: How do you treat your faith in light of the Book of Revelation? PRAYER: Lord Jesus, let me not stand before the white judgment Throne for Christ's sake, Amen.

God's Purpose - Psalm 18:28 by Carl H. Stevens There certainly will be times in our lives when we will be surrounded by darkness. Our first reaction is often to get out of it as quickly as possible, but let us consider the purpose God has for troublesome times. In difficulties, we can do one of two things: we can draw near to God (2), or we can run away from the trial set before us. We can expect to have great loneliness while in darkness. Psalm 88:18 says, "Lover and friend thou hast put far from me..." God does this so we will seek Him out and allow Him to become our source of life, rather than people. We must search for the light, knowing that He is Light (3). Light always arises out of darkness (4). Each night has a morning. These times of darkness will be great, and may be painful, but if you do not depart from the Word and continue to feed upon it, then Christ will become your provision. Psalm 112:7-8 tells how the writer´s heart was fixed on trusting the Lord. Do not despair while in darkness. Use it as an opportunity to draw near to Him Who does not change (6). You may discover riches stored in those dark places (7). Psalm 18:28 For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. 1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. Isaiah 42:16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. 27 August The Lord Is My Light Psalm 27:1 (AMP) “The Lord is my light and my salvation—Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the refuge and fortress of my life—Whom shall I dread?” Fear has a way of making our problems look bigger than they really are. When uncertainty surrounds us, we can easily focus on what might go wrong instead of remembering Who is with us. David begins this psalm with a powerful declaration: “The Lord is my light and my salvation.” Light means that God brings clarity when we cannot see the way forward. He guides us when the path seems uncertain and gives us hope when everything feels dark. Salvation reminds us that we do not have to rescue ourselves. God is our deliverer, our protector, and our source of strength. Then David asks, “Whom shall I fear?” This isn't saying that frightening situations will never come. It means that fear does not have to control us because God is greater than whatever stands before us. The Lord is also described as the “refuge and fortress” of our lives. A fortress is a place of safety and protection. When life feels overwhelming, we can run to God—not because we have all the answers, but because we know that He is faithful. Today, don't allow fear to have the final word. Let faith speak louder. Whatever you are facing, remember: The Lord is your light. The Lord is your salvation. The Lord is your refuge. The Lord is your fortress. If God is for you, you don't have to live intimidated by what is against you. Prayer Father, thank You for being my light when I cannot see the way, my salvation when I need deliverance, and my fortress when I feel weak. Help me to surrender every fear to You. Give me courage to face today with faith, knowing that You are with me and that I am safe in Your hands. Let Your presence be greater in my heart than every fear around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Lifeline Today Thursday August 27 The Blessing of Kindness Be kind and honest and you will live a long life; others will respect you and treat you fairly. Proverbs 21:21 (GNB) There are blessings that motivate us to be kind. Treating people with kindness will help us keep our heart and attitude running in the right direction. Otherwise, we can easily become selfish and indifferent towards others. Christian kindness is tender-hearted. If the heart is hard on the inside and the manners are meek and polite and helpful on the outside, it is not Christian kindness. The idea behind "tender-hearted" is that our insides are easily touched. Kindness causes us to act by words or deeds to help meet the needs and concerns of others, even of those who don’t deserve it. That’s the kindness God extends to us – He forgives, shows us favour, and helps us even though we don’t deserve it. Be encouraged to intentionally perform acts of kindness every day. This is how we are to treat others. It is a key to living the Christian life – being kind! So why not be kind and watch the blessings flow! This is your day. Wisdom Fountain: "What wisdom can you find that is greater than kindness?" Prayer: Father Lord, thank You for Your endless love and for showing me how to love others. Bless the kindness I share with the world. Give me a pure heart that gives without expecting anything back.
