  • This Week's Prayer Guide

August 9 - This week, pray for the needs of the people of Suzhou. Pray for the church to be a Christlike witness to their friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family members.

August 10 - In recent years, many foreign and even domestic manufacturers have left Suzhou and its nearby development areas, leaving behind an economic void. Please pray that God will help revive Suzhou’s economy and provide for the economic needs of its people.

August 11 - The departure of these companies and factories have led to a rise in unemployment, particularly among the young people. Many of them are steeped in a sense of hopelessness and feel like giving up. Please pray that the young people in the city can find a hope that is not based on career success, but in Christ.

August 12 - Like many other cities in China, the economic downturn inevitably leads to population loss. Many young people have migrated to other cities or other parts of Suzhou to seek employment, making some less developed neighborhoods feeling empty. Please pray that God will bring revival to these neighborhoods, both economically and spiritually.

August 13 - Population loss is also leading to shepherding challenges. People come and go according to their economic and employment needs, leaving pastors and church leaders feeling destabilized. Please pray that God will provide local churches with a stable core group of people, and that church leaders can know their sheep deeply.

August 14 - One silver lining of the economic downturn is that young professionals are working less and thus have weekends open, and they are able to participate in Sunday worship more regularly. May the Lord refresh the souls of these young professionals through worship and church community, and alleviate their anxiety about their future.

August 15 - One of the local churches in Suzhou recognized the opportunity to reach out to the elderly in the city. Volunteers divide into teams to cut hair, trim nails, visit and pray with the elderly. Please pray that they will encounter more opportunities to share the gospel, and that God will bring many elderly to faith through their work.

    THE CROSS OF CALVARY
    🏼

    FRIDAY 1ST AUGUST, 2026

KEY VERSE:``` "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross" (COLOSSIANS 2:14).

At Calvary, God did not just forgive sin; He cancelled the record. The handwriting of ordinances — the law’s demands, the devil’s accusations, every debt we owed — stood against us. It was contrary to us. We could never pay it. But Jesus took that document that condemned us and nailed it to His Cross. The nails that pierced His hands pierced our indictment. What was against us is now gone.

Three truths from the cancelled record: One, the debt was against us. “The handwriting of ordinances that was against us.” Sin left a paper trail. Every sin, every failure, every broken law. Heaven had a record and we were guilty. Two, the debt was contrary to us. “Which was contrary to us.” It opposed us, blocked us, condemned us. We could not climb over it. Three, the debt was nailed to His Cross. “And took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.” God took it out of the way — not overlooked, not hidden, but removed. He nailed it to the Cross. And when He did, He spoiled principalities and powers, making a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it (verse 15). Your accusers were disarmed at Calvary.

Is the enemy bringing up your past this morning? Remind him of the Cross. The record he is reading from was nailed, cancelled, blotted out. There is no longer any handwriting against you — only the blood that speaks better things.

    Prayer
Father, thank You for nailing my sins, my debts, and my accusations to the Cross of Christ. Today I declare I am no longer condemned. The handwriting that was against me is blotted out by blood. Let every voice of accusation be silenced, in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

May the Lord cause you to walk in the liberty of a cancelled record today. May every accusation be silenced, may every chain be broken, and may you live as one whose debt has been fully paid at Calvary, through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen. 🏼

  • # When Heaven Wanted to Say "I Love You"

If Heaven wanted to tell the world,
    **"I love you,"**
it could have written those words across every star.

It could have carved them into every mountain.

It could have thundered them from the clouds.

But God chose a different way.

    He sent Jesus.

    Not with a sword...

    But with compassion.

    Not to condemn...

    But to save.

    Not to take lives...

    But to give His own.

Jesus walked among people who were broken, forgotten, and weary.

He sat beside those everyone else ignored.

He touched those everyone else avoided.

He listened to those no one else had time for.

He loved people exactly where they were...

But He loved them too much to leave them there.

    When children ran to Him,

    He welcomed them.

    When sinners cried before Him,

    He forgave them.

    When the sick reached out,

    He healed them.

    When the hungry followed Him,

    He fed them.

His heart was never too busy for one more hurting soul.

    Then came the cross.

The moment when love would speak louder than words ever could.

As the nails pierced His hands,

He did not pull them away.

    As the crowd mocked Him,

He did not answer with hatred.

    As His strength faded,

    His love remained unshaken.

Because Jesus knew that beyond the pain of the cross...

There would be the joy of redeeming countless lives.

    Yours.

    Mine.

Everyone who would believe in Him.

The cross was not the end of love.

It was love at its fullest.

And when the tomb was found empty on the third day, God declared to the world that love is stronger than death, grace is greater than sin, and hope can never be buried.

Today, Jesus still walks beside the lonely.

    He still comforts the grieving.

    He still strengthens the weak.

He still forgives those who return to Him.

His love has never grown weaker.

His mercy has never run out.

    His arms have never closed.

If you ever wonder whether you are loved, don't look at the changing opinions of people.

    Look at Jesus.

    Look at His life.

    Look at His cross.

    Look at His empty tomb.

There you will find a love that has no beginning and no end.

A love that cannot be earned.

A love that cannot be lost.

A love that will never stop calling your name.

**The greatest message Heaven ever sent was not written on paper.**

**It was written in the life, the sacrifice, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.**

**And that message still echoes today:**

**"You are loved more deeply than you will ever know."**

*"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." — John 3:16*

  • Daily devotion: Luke 23:34

“Jesus said, ‘Forgive them, Father! They don’t know what they’ re doing.”

Forgiveness, something which many people struggle with. But I want you to consider this. Our Saviour, Jesus Christ, was tortured by the Romans. He was rejected by His own people who chose the murderer, Barabbas, to be released from prison instead of the innocent Jesus. While carrying His cross to Golgotha, people spit on His bleeding body. People cheered as nails were driven through His wrists and feet. He was mocked by all when the Roman soldiers hung a message, written on wood, over His thorn crowned head. The message read: “This is the King of the Jews.” (Luke 23:38) Jesus did nothing wrong, yet He suffered unspeakable torment.

Despite all of this, the injustice of crucifying and innocent man, the horrifying flogging that tore His skin open, the abandonment by His own people. Despite ALL this He still asked God to forgive these people. Even at the end He remained compassionate and empathetic.

Now, look at your own life. What pain and sorrow, inflicted by others, do you carry with you? This hurt drags you down and fills you with feelings of regret, dislike and even hate and revenge. Can you see how events that occurred years ago are kept fresh in your mind? You turn it over and over in your mind like a dark jewel.

However, compared to what Jesus went through, our own cares, worries and pain seem so small. We need to remember that Jesus forgave those who harmed Him. Let us learn from Him and and feel the peace that forgiveness brings. Pray for those who hurt you instead of nurturing negative thoughts. (Luke 6:28)

I hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive and let go of those who hurt you. Setting them free will leave room for the Light of God to shine brightly in your life.

  • THE CALVARY MINISTRY - ONLINE

    THE CROSS OF CALVARY
    🏼

    MONDAY 27TH JULY, 2026

KEY VERSE:``` "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God" (HEBREWS 12:2).

Hebrews 12 tells us to look. The Christian race is not run by looking at ourselves, our failures, or even the crowd around us. It is run by “looking unto Jesus.” What did He look at when He carried the Cross? Joy. “For the joy that was set before him endured the cross.” What joy? The joy of bringing you home. The joy of turning sinners into sons. For that joy, He endured the nails, He despised the shame, He drank the cup.

Three truths from looking unto Jesus: One, He endured what you could not endure. “Endured the cross.” Endure means to hold under the weight and not break. The weight of your sin, your punishment, your curse — He held it and did not break. Two, He despised what shamed you. “Despising the shame.” Crucifixion was the most shameful death. He was stripped, mocked, numbered with criminals. He took your shame so you could have His glory. Three, He finished what you could not finish. “The author and finisher of our faith.” He started your salvation and He will finish it. Calvary is not just the beginning of faith; it is the guarantee that He will bring you to the end.

Are you weary in running today? Are eyes filled with distractions, discouragements, and disappointments? Lift your eyes again. Look unto Jesus. He who endured the Cross for you will give you strength to run your course. He authored it, He finished it at Calvary, and He will perfect it in you.

    Prayer
Lord Jesus, Author and Finisher of my faith, I turn my eyes from my weakness, my weariness, and my wounds and look unto You. Thank You for enduring the Cross and despising the shame for my joy. Today I receive strength to run, grace to endure, and faith to finish my course, in Your name I pray. Amen.

May the Lord fix your eyes on Jesus today. May His endurance strengthen you, may His shame-bearing free you from disgrace, and may His finished work keep you running till the end, through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen. 🏼

  • John 20:

"1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.
3 Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulchre.
4 So they ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.
5 And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.
6 Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,
7 And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.
8 Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.
9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
10 Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.
11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,
12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.
14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name."
John 20: "1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. 6 Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, 7 And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself. 8 Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. 9 For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead. 10 Then the disciples went away again unto their own home. 11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre, 12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: 23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. 30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: 31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name."

    THE CROSS OF CALVARY
    🏼

    TUESDAY 21ST JULY, 2026

    ```TEXT: ISAIAH 53:3-7```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed" (ISAIAH 53:5).

Seven hundred years before Jesus was born, Isaiah saw Calvary. He saw a Man despised and rejected, a Man of sorrows acquainted with grief. Yet this Man was not suffering for His own sin — He was suffering for ours. Every wound had a name. Every bruise had a purpose. The Cross was not an accident; it was substitution. He was wounded in our place.

Three truths from His wounds: One, His wounds forgive our transgressions. “He was wounded for our transgressions.” Transgressions — our willful rebellion. The spear, the nails, the thorns — they pierced Him because we transgressed. Two, His bruises break our iniquities. “He was bruised for our iniquities.” Iniquities — our twisted, bent nature. He was crushed under the weight of it, so we could be made straight. Three, His stripes purchase our peace and healing. “The chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” The punishment that brought us peace — peace with God, peace in conscience — fell on Him. And healing flows still — for body, soul, and spirit.

Do you carry today the guilt of transgression, the weight of iniquity, the unrest of a troubled heart? Look to Calvary. The prophet said it 700 years early so you would believe it today: He was wounded for you. He was bruised for you. His wounds are your healing. Come to the Cross and be whole.

    Prayer
Man of Sorrows, thank You for being wounded for my transgressions and bruised for my iniquities. Thank You for taking my chastisement so I could have Your peace. Today I receive Your forgiveness, Your cleansing, and Your healing. Let the wounds You bore speak over my guilt, my sickness, and my sorrow, in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

May the Lord reveal His wounds to you today. May His forgiveness cover your past, His peace guard your heart, and may His stripes bring healing to every wounded part of your life, through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen. 🏼

    “𝘛𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺’𝘴 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺;
𝘎𝘰𝘥’𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘪𝘱𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺.”

Some seasons of life seem unbearably long. Pain lingers. Prayers appear unanswered. The body grows weaker, relationships become strained, and trials seem to arrive one after another. In those moments, we wonder if life will always be this difficult. Whether we are enduring grief, persecution, sickness, or disappointment, the question is not whether suffering is real but whether it is the end of our story.

🕮 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟖:𝟏𝟖 declares, “𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘬𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘶𝘴.” Paul knew suffering firsthand. He was beaten, imprisoned, rejected, and persecuted for the Gospel. Yet he 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘬𝘰𝘯𝘴, meaning he counts every hardship in this present life fading beside the eternal glory God has prepared for His children. Our pain is temporary. His glory is eternal.

Imagine walking through a long, dark tunnel. Every step feels heavy, and the darkness seems endless. Yet with each step, the light at the end grows brighter. The tunnel is real, but it is not your destination. In the same way, every trial brings God’s children one step closer to everlasting glory.

Scripture continually lifts our eyes beyond present suffering. “𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘢𝘧𝘧𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘶𝘴 𝘢 𝘧𝘢𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘸𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘺” (𝟐 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟒:𝟏𝟕). “𝘞𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘫𝘰𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨” (𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦 𝟑𝟎:𝟓). One day, “𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘪𝘱𝘦 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘦𝘺𝘦𝘴” (𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟐𝟏:𝟒). The believer’s future is not uncertainty—it is glory.

The world teaches us to live for today because it cannot see tomorrow. But God’s children live with eternity in view. Suffering is temporary; glory is eternal. Don’t judge the entire journey by one difficult mile. The darkest chapter is never the final page when God is writing the story. Better days are not merely wishful thinking—they are promised by God Himself.

Jesus Christ secured that future through His own suffering. He endured the cross, despised the shame, and now sits at the right hand of the Father (𝐇𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝟏𝟐:𝟐). The nails were temporary. The crown is eternal. Because Christ conquered death and rose again, every believer has the sure hope of sharing in His glory. The cross was not the end—and neither are your present trials.

What suffering has tempted you to lose heart? What burden has made tomorrow seem hopeless? You don’t need Christ merely to help you survive today—you need Him because He has already prepared your forever. Hold on a little longer. The road may be hard, but the destination is glorious. The best is not behind you—it is still ahead.

𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫: Heavenly Father, we confess that suffering has clouded our view of glory. Forgive us for losing hope when pain seems endless. Remind us that our present trials are preparing us for an eternal weight of glory. Help us to fix our eyes on what is unseen. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Remember, a dose of God’s Word a day will keep you going all day!

    The Gospel From Calvary

    MONDAY 20TH JULY, 2026

    THE NIGHT HE WAS BETRAYED

    ```TEXT: MATTHEW 26:36-46```
    ```KEY VERSE:``` "O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt" (MATTHEW 26:39).

Matthew 26 takes us from the upper room to Gethsemane. The same chapter where bread was broken and the cup was shared is the same night He was betrayed with a kiss. Judas sold Him for thirty pieces of silver. Peter swore he would never deny Him. But Jesus pressed into the garden alone. He fell on His face, sweat like blood, and prayed the prayer that saved the world: “Not as I will, but as thou wilt.” Calvary was won first in Gethsemane.

Three truths from that night: One, the cup He drank was our cup. “Let this cup pass from me.” What cup? Not just whips and nails, but the cup of God’s wrath against sin. At Calvary, He drank the hell we deserved so we could drink the grace we never deserved. Two, surrender precedes victory. “Nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” The battle of the Cross was won by surrender. Adam said “My will” in a garden and lost us. Christ said “Thy will” in a garden and saved us. Three, He watches when we sleep. “What, could ye not watch with me one hour?” The disciples slept, but Jesus prayed. Even now, when your flesh is weak, your Intercessor is awake. He prayed through that night so He could pay for you the next day.

Have you ever felt betrayed, abandoned, or alone in prayer? Jesus has been there. The garden reminds you He knows your night. Will you also say today, “Not my will, but Thine”? The will of God will never lead you where the grace of God cannot keep you — Gethsemane proves it leads to Calvary, and Calvary leads to resurrection.

✍🏽```THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:``` Victory at Calvary started with surrender in Gethsemane.
